I ordered three burger and fry recipes with two shakes and tartar sauce for pickup. I guess the grub hut offloads their old, tough fries to the people, like me, who ordered pickup and save the fresh, hot fries for the in house customers. Our three order of fries were so old and tough as to be inedible and all three orders were thrown out. Just as well really because the tartar sauce we ordered didn't make it into the bag. We ordered one small and one large shake and received two smalls. Not really a big deal but considering the rest of the "mistakes" I really was not happy. For $50+ the food and service should be way better. I've been coming here for a long while, however I will not be making that mistake again. read more

Pleasantly surprised by variety of menu selection. It's definitely not just a burger place. They even have a good selection for kids meal. Really like their French beef dip. Drove by so many times before. Looks like an unassuming place frequented by locals. The food here is solid. French fries were pretty pedestrian, really good shakes. My wife said the burger was too messy but that's probably because I forgot to get napkins. Mine was sloppy too but it didn't disintegrate from the condiments. Staff is exceptionally good. read more

This is a great place to get a burger or sandwich! We've driven by after getting off the Kingston ferry many times and finally decided to stop in. The decor and '70s music was very inviting and it was clean and neat. We were impressed by the variety on the menu and had trouble deciding what to order, as it all looked appetizing. I had the Tim's Teriyaki burger (comes in Chicken or Beef - I had Beef), which was put together well with lettuce, tomato, onion straws, pineapple and (of course) teriyaki sauce. It was very flavorful and the Beef was cooked perfectly. My Wife had the Jamaican Gyro which she described as "the best sandwich she has ever had!" (much emphasis added). It had chicken, grilled onions, jalapeños, and a fantastic Jamaican sauce. We would both highly recommend The Grub Hut and will stop there every time we're in Kingston. read more

I had my doubts coming into this joint but I was pleasantly surprised. You are instantly transported to a tropical island like atmosphere with the best food choices ever! So many burger choices it was tough deciding but I went with the old fashioned burger. However, there is nothing old fashioned here. This was a gourmet burger that blew me away. Beef patty with bacon, lettuce, avocado, onion and sweet relish! Never thought to add sweet relish to this mix, but it totally worked!!!! The combo resulted in a melt in your mouth taste. The fries were not my favorite but they were okay. A little too salty and I wish they were either bigger or smaller. They're in this in between zone. Not quite shoe string fries, but not regular size either. My shake was delicious however I wish it was a little less sugary. It would taste better in my opinion if they dialed back the sweetness just a tad. Other than that, everything had a great flavor. Love the ambience in here and it's a quick and easy place to come eat! Hope you have as much fun as I did coming to eat some great burgers!!! read more

What I Got: Basic Burger, Garlic Fries, Reuben Sooo good, really flavorful and filling burgers! The fries are great too, got actual minced garlic all over them. The reuben was a unique take on the traditional sandwich, which was enjoyable! Just be sure to read through the ingredients so you're not disappointed when it's different than the classic. i ordered a crispy chicken sandwich/burger. i liked the chunkiness of it with tomato & pickle & dressing & the service was good but...... tho' the outside of the chicken was crispy, the inside was barely warm & i wondered if it was even cooked long enough. the fries were okay. i feel like fries have to be served right away instead of cooking them in big batches for takeaway/other orders. just not crispy when they aren't cooked right with the order. anyway, inlove the grub hut & hope that the crispy & done chicken gets another look at. you guys are awesome & i've always had good service & food there. read more

Jamaican Gyro and fries. The chicken was moist, tender and in large chunks. The sauce was a bit much, dripping out of the wrapper. The pita, was just pita. The bell pepper and lettuce wilted from the heat and became mushy. The fries were inconsistently fried: some under- cooked, some cooked perfectly and some over-cooked with dripping grease. The reason, I complain to the owner about signing the receipt when using a chip credit card by email and he wrote back saying I was rude to his cashier by just make a (X). We've given this place multiple chances and it's disappointing each time. There is no one to properly expedite take out orders. The last two times I've picked up from this place I've payed when I arrived only to realize my food is just sitting out on a counter getting cold. The first time it was at least 20 mins of looking at my order on the counter. At the time I did not know it was mine. This time the same thing happened... I payed and looked at two take out boxes for 30 mins, just to realize it was actually my food sitting there. It's frustrating because it's something that should be avoidable. I'm not really sure how this place has the rating that it does on yelp?! There is a sign on the counter at the register telling people to not open to go boxes, and I thought it was such a strange thing to have to tell people. Now I realize the sign is there because to go orders just sit there without any wait staff checking them when people pay. We will not be making the mistake of coming back, and that is sad because there aren't a lot of options for fast casual dining. read more

We live in the area and have eaten at the Grub Hub several times. It has been a favorite of ours until last week, when we stopped in with our son. The table was filthy. We had to clean it ourselves and restock the napkins and condiments before sitting down. We ordered our usual burgers and fries. The burgers were OK, except the tomatoes were green and the cheese hadn't melted. The fries were so overcooked that they were crunchy all the way through. Now we are afraid to go back. read more
