We got a flight of beer and all were very good. We also ordered a side salad and the fried chicken plate to share. It was the perfect amount of food to share since the fried chicken plate came with four pieces of chicken, one side and a biscuit. The fried chicken was the star of the show, the batter was so flavorful and crispy and the chicken was sooo juicy. We got the green chili mac and cheese - it was so cheesy and spicy (in a good way). Our server was very nice and made sure we were well taken care of. The hostess was very nice as well and even came by our table to chat a bit. Amazing food and service. Can't wait to come back to Estes Park just to eat here again!

Wanted to try this place out after seeing the views and how pretty all the buildings were. The service was amazing, they made sure to be kind and welcoming. I ate from the Tuesday night special menu. Which didn't disappoint, from the prices to all the options. Got a $5 delicious margarita. Tried a couple of their deviled eggs, and also got a po boy sandwich. Went with the green chilli Mac and cheese, it was amazingly cheesy as will had a little kick from the chilli. The fries were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend coming here, especially just to walk the grounds of this beautiful hotel.

Excellent new restaurant, next to the Stanley Hotel! Always great chicken, warm decor with lots of windows to the mountains. Kristan our server was super as was all the staff and management. Love the chicken and their brews are tasty. A new favorite and repeater for us.

We ventured into Estes Park for the first time, mainly to do the Shining Tour at The Stanley but we needed food before our adventure. I didn't realize it was literally next door to the hotel, I had a 12:30 reservations figuring that would give us enough time before our 2:30 tour. We arrived a few minutes early and was seated immediately. I was in brunch mood so ordered a coffee, my wife ordered their Bloody Mary which she thoroughly enjoyed. When it came time to order, she went with the three piece chicken tender set, I went for the chicken and waffles based on our servers recommendation. The chicken was fantastic but the star were the waffles. Crispy on exterior but oh so fluffy and tender on the inside. By the end of the meal we were too full to try their desserts but they looked great. We were seated around 12:20 and the service was so quick we were done and out the door by 1:10 pm. Great service, fast food delivery, great fresh meals, it was a great experience. I wouldn't mind returning to try some of their craft brews!

Our fried chicken was great! Appetizer delicious. Ambiance was perfect in a snowy day! Drinks are delicious.

Really nice place at the Stanley hotel. Fried chicken was amazing. My only complaints were the post dry rub was a little too salty for me and the food came out so fast I didn't even get to enjoy my drinks! The Brussels sprouts were unbelievable and are a must order

    Nice view of the mountains.

PROS Friendly, knowledgeable, and professional staff Nice, clean venue Good menu selections The CRISPY CHICKEN & GOAT CHEESE is very good (but the fried chicken was dry and lacking flavor) Plenty of parking CONS Fried chicken was a bit dry and was lacking in flavor. During certain tourist seasons, the hotel (incl. restaurant) charges $10 to park except for residents (but you do get a $5 redeemable token), but I think it is a real turn-off.

Directions to get here were not easy and we didn't realize it was part of The Stanley Property. You have to pay to get in to eat here. I don't know if it was google or yelp but the directions were a little off. Regardless we found it and they were able to sit our 9 person party easily for lunch. The server and staff were all friendly and enticed the kids with tales of the hidden door in the book room/theater. The beer was good and some of our party ordered a flight. Most of us had heard about the chicken and as a result most of us ordered the chicken sandwich. It was great! Juicy, perfectly seasoned and big. Since we had already paid to get onto the property we wandered around The Stanley for a little bit and checked the place out. The Post is worth the stop if you're in the area.

The Post restaurant located at the Stanley was great! All the drinks were good, I tasted some of everyone's food- all delicious. And what truly makes this place 5 stars on our visit was the service. Staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We had a party of 6 so it was recommended we hop just outside the restaurant into the lounge area where we could hang out and order drinks. Seating was comfortable and we opted to do that after taking a walk through the main hotel building of the Stanley. When we were called for our table we were brought to a booth near the kitchen, and as everyone squeezed into the booth it became very clear that would not work for our group. It was really tight. When the server arrived he greeted everyone and asked if this is okay for us, seeing our expressions. I kind of joked it's fine if he's okay with my leg hanging out of the booth into the walk way area. I told him not to trip. He immediately grabbed another staff person to find us a larger table. We were moved to a table that recently opened up at the front the of restaurant that seats 8 and has individual chairs for more space. This was immediately better. A different server came by right away, took drink orders, meal orders and checked on us during the meal. He also brought a pitcher of water so we never waited for refills. It's such a simple thing and so smart to do. Great meal and company with attentive service. And my steak was cooked exactly as I wanted. Mac and cheese was yummy and fried chicken was nice and crispy while juice inside. The waffles for the chicken & waffles were good. Not dried out, they were simply good waffles. The sauce on the salmon was tasty and salmon was not overcooked. Mind you, all of this was towards the end of the night by the time we finished up. They didn't lower standards just because it was later in the evening, some times that can happen at restaurants. Great, all the way through.

Wow! We had our final dinner in Estes Park at the The Post at the Stanley Hotel and it was our favorite meal for several reasons. First, the staff were very friendly and helpful. They made it clear that our experience being positive was just as important as the food being good! Second, the prices were very reasonable. We all walked away very full and without a busted wallet! Third, the kids menus were amazing! After several meals where the kids meals were clearly an afterthought, The Post clearly cares about children! For $10.50, kids get veggies, apples, a chocolate chip cookie, an entree, and a side. And the entrees and sides are reflective of the Colorado style fried chicken cuisine offered for adults. If you have kids, The Post is a must! Fourth, the beer list was extensive and creative! Our table tried the Velvet Elk, the El Corn, and the Fir Forager. They were all great! Fifth, and most importantly, the food was fantastic. Favorites included the half chicken, the spicy orange chicken rice bowl, the buffalo chicken sandwich (you can get the fried chicken sandwich and add a tossed sauce), the deviled eggs, and the cheddar biscuits. Divine! Sixth, the ambiance of the restaurant is amazing. First, it is on the grounds of the Stanley Hotel, which is gorgeous and classy, and has incredible views. The space is clean, open, and welcoming. The bathrooms are in the basement where a cool library and theater reside. The kids loved this! The only slight negative is that you have to park inside the Stanley Hotel grounds which costs $10 to enter (cash or credit). However, if you mention you are eating at the post, you receive a $5 token to apply to your meal. So it only ends up being a $5 loss. Totally worth it! If you are in Estes Park, don't miss out on The Post. It's one of the best in town! Call and make reservations today!

Yelp rarely disappoints. The Post Mountain House ended up being a good stop overall, as we walked around the Stanley Hotel and checked out several other things. Our lunch at the Post missed the mark in some ways but not across the board. First, our bartender, Joel, was great. He was attentive, talk with us when things didn't go to plan and did it all with a smile. Always appreciate that. We ordered two cocktails and deviled eggs to start. My guy ordered the Fried Chicken Biscuit and I ordered the Fried Chicken Huevos Rancheros. We waited a while for everything. The deviled eggs still hadn't arrived by the time we had our mimosas and our entrees. They were sweet and had noticeable condensation on each. It made for an odd taste and mouth feel. Same disappointment for his dish and mine. We finished only the mimosas. Meanwhile, a large party was waiting to be seated and decided to occupy a booth across from us at the bar. My guy had stepped away to use the RR, but was clearly still using the bar stool next to me. It's a little comical as I write this. As they were sat, one of the waiters scooped up his chair and positioned it on the end of the booth for the larger party. Of course. Even when he returned and had to stand at the bar next to me, as I sat, the waitress had no clue. It was fascinating. We left with smiles but these little mishaps throughout the meal/experience all reflected the lack of focus. Our dishes lacked seasoning, flavor and weren't cooked to order. Not a fan. Easy fixes, if the team is made aware - which is one of the reasons I always share negative reviews. We all deserve a chance for redemption.

So my man surprised me with a trip to Estes Park and he decided to book us reservations for the Post. I had a great time there, our waiter was very chatty and polite which was a plus. He knew a lot about the menu and was able to answer our questions. I ended up getting the huckleberry brown butter glazed pork shoulder which was AMAZING! I liked everything I had minus the apples that came with this dish. For dessert I had a banana mascarpone pudding with wafers soaked in coffee which was really good! This place for the holidays was very festive with ornaments hanging down the ceiling. Overall this was a wonderful experience. Thank you Cam for taking me to the Post !

There seems to be plenty of parking and a little fountain and creek out front. I appreciated the 50's retro chrome and red vinyl chairs. All symptoms point to food poisoning. We will not be back. This was our first visit to You Need Pie. What we liked: Our waiter was really hospitable, friendly, and did his best to provide service in a timely way despite being the only server available for all the customers. The coffee was decent, though in a small mug, and so was the hot chocolate we orders for the kids (which came with whipped cream, much to their delight!). The decor on the walls felt kind of scanty but what is there was cute. There is a pretty wide pie selection. Food serving sizes were okay. The single person bathroom was clean. What we didn't like: *The $2 veg add-ins of onion and jalapeños to the $12 omelette were raw. *The corned beef hash was extremely basic and barely seasoned, the potatoes were well cooked but bland and pale. It was edible but not worth $15. *Our party ordered a $9 bread bowl soup and waffle fries as well; it was eaten but the cheese ingredient was really overpowering in flavor - the small size was a good thing, in this case, because otherwise it couldn't have been finished. *The batter on the chicken tenders in the kid's meal were almost burnt on the edges, but still pale everywhere else. Something off with the oil temperature I guess. They didn't get eaten. *The color of everything was pretty much all beige and served on white plates, which impacted the impression of the meal - zero visual appeal. One of my favorite parts of eating at mom-and-pop diners is the way the meals feel homey, warming you from the inside out. This did not create that kind of impression. Lastly, the pie (which was the main draw for us and why we picked this dining option). We ordered one slice of rhubarb at $6.25. The pie was very disappointing - something in it was either stale or had gone bad. It tasted really unpleasant and we ended up throwing it away. Our total for everything was about $80 with tip and it was sadly not money well spent. We love stand alone dining options but probably will not be returning.

They weren't particularly busy (lots of open tables) and there were a lot of servers. Maybe short staffed in the kitchen? Probably more disappointing than waiting so long was the food itself. Potato soup was "fine" but nothing special and way too much bacon. Three of us got side salads and every single one of us had warm lettuce.
