Hubby and I went tonight cause everything else was pretty much closed. We go up and Oder a 10 inch meat lovers or whatever and he goes 'oh I have one here, 3 slices is the same price' so he sells us that, we get a beer which is half foam and a root beer which was fine. 21 dollars for 3 slices, half a beer and a ok root beer...not even full. I ordered a pasta dish on line for delivery and after arriving 1/2 hour late, I discovered that the pasta dish was put on a pizza and did not include the sausage that I paid extra for. I called the establishment and they told me they don't do pasta dishes and he said he spoke to me and I was okay with it being on a pizza. I never spoke to anyone, it was all done online. I grew up in New Jersey right across from NYC. I lived and worked in NY as well. If there is anything I know about, it's good NY pizza. Grumpy's is as authentic and delicious as NY pizza can get. Sal, the owner, is from NY and has been in the pizza business back there for many years. Wouldn't be surprised if he was fed pizza as a baby. My wife and I are regulars at "Grumpy's." To add to the unhygienic behavior we also watched him wipe his perspiration, various surfaces, and customers food, then touch money from the register. The family and I traveled north from Surprise on a Sunday afternoon to play in the snow. Ended up here for lunch after taking a quick look at the reviews. It's a small venue so seating is limited. It started filling up quick not soon after we walked in. The place has a cool atmosphere. The many different freshly made pizzas were on display in front of you as you stepped up to order. Kinda reminded me of a Baskin Robbins except with Pizza slices instead of ice cream. Just the grumpy Sicilian and the cashier were the only two I saw working there. So it's a help yourself kind of place. Our Pizzas were awesome and so was the fried zucchini. Only negative we could see was the $1 refills on the fountain soda which I thought was a little ridiculous. I mean your already filling the 1st serving to the top with ice for crying out loud. The best Italian food that I had in many years. My wife raved about the Alfredo and I loved the Penne Sicialano. You can have your pasta dish with any one of many styles of pasta and sauce. I went to Prescott to escape the heat, but Prescott was hot and this place turned a cold shoulder to my presence. I was there a little over a week ago on a Friday, so that means I took off work to be discriminated by the server at this place. I walked in around noon with my husband. To add context, I'm Black and my husband is white. We stop at this place and there was a couple ahead of us, they get their food and I thought the guy would at least say hi. He did not, so I continue looking at the menu on the wall. Another couple come in and they walk right past us to the counter, I guess they thought we were trying to make up our minds. He greets them, so I'm thinking maybe he didn't see this beautiful black woman, so I go around to the other side, he looks me dwarf in the eye and says nothing. So, I was like ok, that happened..so I left. I googled racism in Prescott and apparently they have a problem, so it's not a place I'll visit again. I no longer go where I'm not welcome. read more

What a great slice of pizza. No matter what type of pizza you won't be disappointed. Tiny quaint place. The chicken gravy fries are a must have when you're hitting up bars on Whiskey row. I would give this place five stars but here is the break down. But in full disclosure and all fairness I have to confess that I lost my taste for pizza a few years back. I will eat it, but I truly no longer crave it as I have in the past. We were at Watson Lake when the clouds rolled in- you need to understand that this is not a common occurrence in Arizona let alone on a summer day, but scrammed from there and were gonna find some grub. My son who drove down from Flagstaff to meet us driving up from Tucson just wanted to do take out. he works with blood and care for my mom (81) and aunt (87) so we both are very COVID aware. We drove a few blocks looking for park when a spot opened up right in front of the Grumpy Sicilian. As soon as we opened our car doors the garlic, yeast and tomato aroma overwhelmed our senses. We did not bother to look for another eating spot. This was it. However, we both taken aback when we noticed not a single worker was wearing a mask. We sent my husband in to do the ordering. We kept our distance outside. The crust was prefect- the topping ratios spot on. My son also had the chicken parmesan and he wolfed that down so fast I thought he did not get his order. It will have to be after we are in control of COVID before I return but when that happens I will stop here again. So I would have give the experience a five star except for the unmasked staff members. read more
