When I came to pickup my car, before service, I spoke with someone named Ryan (Not sure if he was the owner. If he isn't, whatever they are paying him isn't enough.) and he gave me detailed and great advice. Our Acura dealer diagnosed our electrical problem but did not have the Master Switch for our 1996 Acura RL. They recommended The H Shop to do the work and gave us the part number so would source it from a 3rd party. We finally found a used part on eBay and hoped it would work. When it arrived, we noticed the trim bezel was badly worn. We scheduled with The H Shop (an easy process) and interacted with Ryan several time clarifying what we wanted. We were in and out in under 90 minutes and discovered that we had functionality we had not seen in decades. There was great communication with status and picture updates via text. I appreciated that my vehicle was test driven too to make sure the issues were resolved, and I received a follow up text later to make sure things were still going well. The H Shop has serviced my car for a few years, and my car, a 2013 Honda FIT with over 100,000 miles, runs beautifully. My dog gets very excited when we go to the dog park. When I leave my car to open the dog park gate, my dog sometimes leaps around, turning on the radio, opening windows and recently turning on my parking lights. Sadly, I didn't notice and my 6 year old battery ran down when I left the lights on overnight. A tow truck driver got the car started, and I drove it to Ryan at the H Shop. Ryan immediately noticed the parking lights, tested the battery and gave me the option of replacing it. Since the battery was 6 years old, I opted for replacement and twenty minutes later was on my way with a new battery. I took my 2008 Honda Accord EX-L to Todd back in 2016 and he performed a major service before I embarked on a road trip to Banff, Jasper and down back through Spokane back to Kirkland. He took the time to discuss how the spark plugs looked, how the compression test came out and the valve clearances looked. Everything was running well and I appreciated him taking the time to tear into the engine and give me the confidence I needed to head out on this long family trip. Like a lot of the reviews before, Todd was honest, communicative and reasonable with billable work. Ryan has now taken over The H Shop as of May 2021 and I'm pleased to report: I'm pretty confident he'll uphold the reputation that The H Shop has garnered among the Honda/Acura loyal over the years. You'll continue to get a Honda Master Technician without the dealership fees. Except now, some customer facing things are updated: the website intake form, the estimate process, appointment scheduling/reminder, and invoicing. He was able to squeeze me into his increasingly busy schedule for a brake job because I let him know I was a bit concerned about safety taking the kids to and from school. Additionally, I requested a quote on some future repair work and he took the time to share his opinion on which aftermarket parts were high quality enough to choose for lower prices vs. parts where you absolutely ought to spend more and choose Original Equipment Manufactured parts, just based on his past experience. Lead by a former honda technician who prefers putting the work in rather than charging you more for parts. My car's side mirror was broken due to a "disagreement" with a concrete pillar. The dealership quoted me $1000 to replace the entire mirror. Ryan quoted me $400 to only replace the part that was broken. If my car has any issues in the future I'll be taking it here again. I have been coming to the H shop since Todd was the owner, and Todd was excellent. This is the first time I brought my minivan into Ryan, the new owner, and he might be even better (I don't mean to malign Todd, after all, back then, I wouldn't have been able to think of anything he could improve). My Odyssey minivan needed a lot of little-to-medium maintenance after years of neglect (2 1/2 itemized pages of work, from an oil change to a new timing belt). Ryan was fast, having it all done twice as fast as expected. He uses email and texting to communicate efficiently, and new web tools that make it easy to schedule and describe your service needs. Super friendly. He took before-and-after pictures of the work and then took the time to show and explain what the pictures showed, that's something I've never experienced before. After going through the difficult process of trying to find a similar mechanic in CT, I'm just reminded of how rare and amazing Todd is, so I felt compelled to add a review to Yelp. You won't find a more honest, friendly, trustworthy technician. A prior review said it well, thorough, fair, never ever any pressure. He always feels like he is on your side. My Accord always ran great with just Todd's regular maintenance. He told me on occasion that I can go without something for some time or that something I thought was a big issue was a minor one. My wife and I have been taking our Accord and now CRV to Todd and The H shop for 14 years now. We have always had a good experience. He has provided high quality service at a much more reasonable price than was quoted any where else. He has also noticed other things about our car and brought them to our attention (last time my wife's brakes were down to 4% or 5% and he caught it, told us and took care of it - he showed us the brakes and saved us having to come back!). But he gives us the low down and doesn't try to make us do anything that we don't need to. We really appreciate his service, advice, honesty, flexibility and quick turn around. With Todd and The H shop, you are treated like you are family. The only down side in our opinion, is that he is not down the street from us!
