It's not the same Halal Guys from 10 years ago anymore. Ever since more locations were opened, quality has gone down and prices have doubled. My large combo platter was $12+. I remember vividly a combo platter costing exactly $6 a decade ago. I get it- inflation, but this platter wasn't worth anywhere near $12. They also skimped on the meat and rice but load up on the veggies. Half of my platter was lettuce and tomatoes. You used to be able to smell the meaty aromas from several blocks away, but this isn't the case anymore. Everything was bland and just uninteresting. Jumping on the "Halal Guys of Teterboro's quality has gone down" train. Ive been coming to this location since, well, it opened. Over the year or so, yes there have been changes. Service always seems good, and the people hustle here so thats something i disagree with that others have mentioned in reviews. The establishment itself is always super clean and pleasant. Differences that have made the quality and enjoyment of this location go down: 1. Seasoning of chicken + rice. little to no essential seasoning. 2. Skimp on protein. Barely any chicken or falafel in the platters. 3.White sauce has gotten watery, and more dill has been added it seems. changes the taste. Also i noticed they keep it on ice here, at first thought that seems like a good idea but i think one of the reason why ive become turned off to their white sauce is the fact its always cold. i think room temp tastes better. Went with a two meat platter that was quite good and more than plenty for lunch. The guys behind the counter are very helpful - meaning if they say the hot sauce is hot, you may not want a load of it, listen up. It's the fire from the sun. Five stars to this location because I always leave here happy. Mina the manager was very accommodating with my Yelp offer but I just couldn't wait to try my burrito. I enjoyed the over sized mixed grill burrito that carries everything but the baklava dessert in. JK. Basically everything you order for your platter is stuffed in the tortilla, plus they add some gooey cheese. Again, I enjoyed it but there is still something about that messy platter I love so much. The Halal Guys is your standard Halal food truck food. Some guys do it right and others just get by. These guys need to get back to their roots. A plentiful plate of food that is hot with tons of flavor and fast. The Halal Guys miss the mark at their Teterboro location. On both my visits the food was average at best. The lamb and chicken combo, the back bone of their menu, was not flavorful or hot in temp. You said bland; yup. Since the place operates as an open kitchen. I can see this is where their issues start. They have these high school kids cooking the food. These kids are not trained right. While they are very friendly and nice; they just don't get the fine art of the food truck food. The hot items in the combo plate; lamb, chicken and rice are never hot in temp. The seasoning which makes this dish awesome seems to be very limited at prep or cooking time. Only thing that is awesome is the hot sauce. Lots of fire and tasty. The Halal Guys better watch out; Mamoun's Falafel is opening in Fort Lee. Overall, just blah food. Not worth it. One last point. Never had the original in NYC to compare it to like many of the reviews are. Didn't really know how to order when coming in. Luckily there was a line in front of us, so I was able to "figure it out" by watching others order. They have burritos here now, but they aren't really on the menu board just yet. Basically your options are gyro sandwich, platter or burrito, with either chicken or gyro meat. Ultimately went with a chicken gyro/sandwich, boyfriend got the chicken burrito with cheese sauce on the side. Was surprised at just how good everything was, I didn't have huge expectations. A lot of times when you order a chicken gyro the chicken is dark meat and not high quality, but that was not the case here. Chicken was shredded, not shaved, and was a mixture of white and dark meat. The star is really the "White Sauce" (Although admittedly I'm still kind of confused at what exactly the white sauce is) If you eat in like we did, they have bottles of white sauce laying around that you can add to your meal as you eat. read more

I've had The Halal Guys before so I sort of knew what to expect with my order but it's my first time coming to this location. It's located within a shopping area with other eateries and plenty of parking is available. As soon as I walked in, there's menus available at the counter. They also had cater menu too. To order, go straight inside. You place your order and the guys quickly prep the food together while someone in the back is working the meat on the grill. I had ordered one regular chicken and rice platter and one regular beef and rice platter. The platter order comes in two different sizes, small and for $1 extra, you get a slightly larger size which is a regular. The portion size was okay but at other locations, servers do stuff the platter but not here. Also, this place has no spoons. They have only forks. I asked one of the server if they have any spoons and they look at me like I'm the crazy one. One employee even said with a smirk, 'we have no spoons or knives, okay?' Yep, so much for customer service. How does one eat rice without a spoon?! My rice drops back into the plate as I'm trying to pick it up. As I was eating my chicken platter, I bit into something really hard and good thing I have the habit of chewing my food slowly, otherwise, I could have lost a tooth or two or choking on a broken piece of plastic thing. I have no idea that it was served in my salad, yuck! I spit it out and left the place. My husband had the beef and rice platter and he felt sick an hour after eating it. The rice and the salad were fine, but the chicken tasted so disgusting that I couldn't bring myself to eat it. This is a brand new location in Teterboro and decided to stop by because we were in the area. We didn't read the reviews before coming here but we should have. Its a limited menu you basically choose a platter or a gyro wrap. You choose your meat Chicken, Beef, or Hahal and it comes with rice, lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, and onions. It gets topped off with sauce of your choice, but I choose the traditional white sauce. They have a drink refill station as well. The portion size was good but the food is subpar. My wife found plastic shreds in her rice which was totally gross. Who knows if I swallow some myself because later that day I felt like I wanted to throw up. This place does not care about food safety because I just read in other reviews that they found other objects in people's food. Just look the other reviews. Be careful if you are planning to eat here. I would not come back to this location at all. Overall, bad food preparation and unclean restaurant so eat at your own risk. read more

This is definitely not the same as the cart in the city, and I wasn't expecting it to be. They have a professional kitchen with more workers and they took longer than the cart in the city does and the cart turns platters with 2-3 workers. The person at the checkout was the phone trying to give someone directions and not collection payments, which was delaying things even more. The platter is good, chicken and gyro meat was cooked correctly, not dried out. The seasoned rice was done well as well. I hate that you cannot pour your own white sauce, and extra is .50 cents, Juicy platters you can pour your own. Yeah !, the Halal Guys in Jersey, I can get to this place in 10 minutes vs. an hour plus going to New York. The store is big , clean and efficient. And the cool plane hanging from the ceiling, well this is Teterboro, like in airport. And the Halal Guys own that yellow red theme color combo and it's all over the place the store stands out like a Meca, I think the pilots use it as a navigation aid to land here. Well I got my platter, and amazing you get platter size options here. And for you White Sauce main-liners they sell what looks like a gallon size packet. But something was missing, and I'm not talking the food. It was I got used to the corner cart, I got used to standing in line with the tourist and other Yelpers taking photos, and watching people sitting on the side eating there platters, it just wasn't the same, there where no pigeons, Sad :( read more

Dropped by to grab lunch to go with Valbona X, and the line was out the door. Everybody loves Halal Guys, with their seasoned rice, fresh veggies, and flavorful meat. Just kidding. Halal Guys is food for the people who are not sober. Their orange rice is tasty, but it is generally quite greasy. The food in general appears to be less greasy at these brick and mortar locations, but I still enjoy it. The side "salad" that comes with your platter isn't bad, but it's not great either. As for meat, i always get a combo platter. The gyro meat is really greasy/fatty and salty, but salt and fat make food taste good. The chicken is usually pretty dry and flavorless. The food isn't amazing. But the sauces make everything better. The white sauce tastes like what ranch and tzatziki were going for, but failed to achieve. It's heavy, thick, and coats the back of your throat as the flavors explode in your mouth. The hot sauce is the spiciest thing that I can think of. It will burn going in and burn coming out. Add some to the white sauce to cut the heavy richness for an awesome combination. Definitely convenient that I won't have to drive into NYC to get my fix now, too bad there aren't many bars within walking distance. read more

So glad a Halal Guys location opened up closer to home! If you're a fan of their platters or sandwiches already, you won't be disappointed. So many happy feelings came over me while watching the workers stack huge mounds of chicken on the grill. The line may seem long at times but persevere! It'll be worth it. If you've never had it before, just imagine a combination of flavorful tender meats over rice/salad/pita with some great white sauce & spicy hot sauce (emphasis on the "spicy"!). Every single worker was genuinely friendly and made my stay at this fast casual joint extra pleasant. The food is just like NYC, and I even got to try some new goodies I've never had before. Their falafels are perfectly crispy & their fries went great with my combo (beef gyro + chicken) platter. They give you sauce packets to go but if you're staying in, they can give you the bottle too, which is fantastic. And if you come on a beautiful day, be sure to eat outside! Also, love that they have fountain drinks so that I'm not limited to cans of soda like in the city. Three stars based on a vegetarian's point of view. Obviously their meats are more famous but I had a falafel platter here and it was pretty decent! The falafel platter comes w/ lettuce, tomato, orange (tasty) rice, cucumber and 4 falafel balls. Then you can add olives, white onions, jalapeños on top. For a $1 more you can add tabbouleh salad and hummus. I had their classic white tahini sauce and unfortunately asked for BBQ sauce versus their classic red fire sauce. The sauce no doubt is the secret to their success - super yummy. The falafel balls were good in terms of taste but a little dry. I was impressed by the portion size - good value considering it's mostly veggies but 4 large falafel balls and the heavy sauce does fill you up! In terms of food, you'll get a decent meal but know falafel is your only option as a plant-eater. I will say the customer service was incredible! Other than their sauce nothing really stoof out for me but that sauce could make almost anything taste better. It is was a little pricy for what is served. I substituted tomatoes for the rice. It is $9 for a chicken platter, chopped chicken, iceberg lettuce, chopped tomatoes, and rice if you choose. Just went yesterday after being away for a while. Was never able to add receipts to my member account for accumulating points., i wax told i only had a very small window of time to add it. Too bad as last time i was there j picked up platters for a company meeting snd ordered about $350 worth of food. When i asked if i provided receipt would they add it to my account i was told very abruptly NO ! Anyway, portions are way smaller now and price has increased again. Ill figure out a better value for the work lunches going forward........ In response to the restaurants reply.....it wasnt a catering order that was placed for the business luncheon. 3 employees went in and ordered about 10 platters each, it was spur of the moment after i recommended we try halal for an unexpected meeting. Perhaps one must be inebriated to fully enjoy Halal Guys... This was my first time at this Teterboro location but I have been to Halal Guys in the city many, many times. I ordered a small combo platter and it had a generous helping of meat. I was quite full by the end of it all (or maybe I don't have as much of an appetite? Naaahh). They added enough white and hot sauce for my liking and the lettuce and tomatoes on the side were also served in the right proportion. The white sauce seemed a little off to me today though. Certainly not enough to be off-putting, but enough for it to make my platter taste a bit different from what I'm used to. The meat was nicely cooked and the rice had the just the right amount of greasiness. Overall I was satisfied by the food. The service was quick and friendly. Now that the initial hype has died down there's no queue out the door and you get your food within a few minutes. The place is clean and there's plenty of seating (including outdoor). I gave Halal Guys in the city 4 stars so this place is a slight step down (3.5 stars more accurately). Maybe I've become desensitized over the years. Maybe the magic's in the events that lead you to Halal Guys NYC. Now to address the elephant in the room... it's a toss up between Halal Guys Teterboro and Juicy Platters. If I'm craving this kind of food I'd simply go to whichever is more geographically convenient. read more

Took a late night trip to one of my favorite places where I haven't visited in a while. Got there around 9:30pm. As expected there wasn't that many people. Place was clean and the staff had their masks on. I ordered the regular combo which includes chicken and beef gyros with rice and veggies. The staff were very generous with the portions. To complete the order, I topped it off with alot of white and BBQ sauce. I was completely satisfied with my order and the food tasted good as usual. I have tried 3-4 times from this store and overall I dint find the same taste as the original cart in NYC. I usually order a combo platter with beef and chicken which comes with lettuce, rice and pita bread. They will charge you extra for white sauce packets so ask them to add on your plate as much as you want and the hot sauce is free(dont ask for too much). Food - they dint give me same quantity of beef and chicken in the platter. Chicken was very less in my plate. Taste is okay but the original cart is much much better. Service - was great, everyone was talking very politely. Ambience - its great, they have a seating area enough for 20-25 people. I also experienced that they dont have huge lines these days. The days after it was opened here, huge crowd used to wait even outside the store. I am a fan of halal guys so I wont stop eating from here but given a choice of having it here or NYC, its NYC!!! read more

The lamb is fairly tender and pretty tasty for fast food. The rice is greasy but also quite enjoyable. Red sauce was surprisingly hot! For $14 this is decent but I've had significantly better naan and lamb dishes at multiple sit down Afghan (ex- Silk Road, Hills of Herat) and Middle Eastern restaurants.
