Oh my, who would have thought a place called the Ham Stand would be so dratted GOOD! I had the lobster roll. HUGE amounts of real lobster, a great tasting home made roll. My husband had the Rueben. He said it was the best he has ever eaten. I also took some white bean salad with me camping to share. Everyone at the pot luck wanted more and to know where I got it. Cannot recommend more highly. OMG! How have I not found this place before? Hands down the BEST sandwich, service and vibe in Norcal! Where to start - selection - so many choices. Plus they make their own cured meats and sausages. The bread - WOW. Sides? Awesome! Owner - super awesome! We even got a free roll of TP with our order - which we donated to the "need one take one" stack. Their charcuterie is excellent, really top quality. They are quite ambitious in what they make; not just salami and mortadella but prosciutto, 'nduja, lardo, Spanish chorizo, coppa. A Nevada County treasure. I love taking people here for lunch, as it tends to blow their minds. The Reuben is incomparable. I wish I lived next door and had an unlimited dine out budget and an immunity to weight gain. If you come from a distance to dine here, bring a small ice chest. My favorite sandwich is Reuben and this was the best Ruben I've ever had. They're open on Sundays even though it's says they're closed online. You have to plan for an early lunch because by mid afternoon they run out of the Reubens and cubanos, and the menu fluctuates by day of the week. read more

We heard about this place when we attended a dinner at Grass Valley Brewing Company - they had provided some of the delicious sausages that were served. Little did we know that they also offer sandwiches! We made the trip and it was absolutely worth it. The sandwiches were delicious and the folks were very friendly. The outdoor seating was a pleasant spot to eat our sandwiches and sip our beer. The chocolate chip cookie was also incredibly. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Let me sample a lot of the housemade charcuterie which was very good... Settled for a bratwurst sandwich because I had to get on the road, and that was excellent as well. I've had brats in Germany and this was the real deal. You can taste the love. I was told these folks did an excellent pate sandwich. When my wife and I got there, that item wasn't on the menu. We asked about it and they told us they could definitely do one for us. We got it prepared to the chefs taste and boy howdy was it good. All the ingredients down to the bread were top shelf. I'll be coming back here to try their other stuff, but that pate sandwich is good enough to write home for. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Found the Ham Stand while visiting friends over the holidays -- we tried the coriander bacon at home for breakfast and it was so delicious we had to stop in. That lunch was probably the best sandwich I've ever eaten: porchetta on olive bread with perfect accompaniments. I wish it was a permanent menu item, because I would make the trek anytime I was in a 100 mile radius! Luckily I bet everything else is just as good. read more
