Came here for my first date night in many, many months. We were seated and ignored for about 10 minutes. We finally got our drink orders in. My Frose was delicious. We ordered apps. The waitress (who seemed apathetic to anything) didn't know anything about the oysters they were offering that night. When I asked where the East coast oysters were from, she replied "Washington State." Ok.... So whatever, I ordered half and half hoping they were decent. We had to flag down a busser for silverware after our apps came out. Oysters were okay (I am a bit picky, which is why I wanted to know exactly what they were). The parmesan fries were good. I ordered the Shelter Island Salmon entrée and its was so bland. It reminded me of a fish dish from red lobster. My husband ordered a steak medium and it came out so overcooked, it was basically blackened. Once our entrees came out, not a single soul stopped by out table so we just said "whatever let's just eat and GTFO." Finally, when we were ready for the check a manager popped over and asked about our meal. We explained it was very "meh" and the steak was WAY overcooked. He was the only saving grace to the experience. He was kind and brought my husband out a new steak to go. He also removed the steak from the bill (which we had already paid since the waitress had no idea what was happening). Overall, there were WAY too many mistakes for one meal that costs that much. I would like to preface this review by saying that the first experience I had at this restaurant was excellent. The staff was wonderful, and the food was delicious. However, a restaurant cannot sustain on one good experience. I returned this evening, and sat at the bar, and there were 2 bartenders- one was Alyssa M. Neither bartender smiled, once. They were not busy and completely inattentive. We intended on having drinks, appetizers, and a full dinner, however after seeing the interaction with the bartenders, we decided to take our business elsewhere. A real shame. Went tonight for my mother's birthday. The food was good enough. Nothing crazy. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty upon our arrival, we weren't seated until over 15 minutes after our reservation time despite our entire party meeting there. When I went to check in with the hostess, I was met with hostility from a seemingly 16 year old. Finally, I went back up to check in after ~15 minutes of waiting and was told "Oh yeah, your table is ready, I texted you but you must have not received it because of the service" (if you've been here before you know it's a sort of dead zone for cell phone reception). Still, we were seated on the bench right in front of the hostess stand. At no point did she or the other hostess approach us to let us know the table was ready. Upon being seated, someone in our party ordered a Frosé, which she dropped after one sip, breaking the glass and spilling the drink. The waiter was nice enough and offered to replace it, but he ultimately charged us for it. Of course it was her fault that the drink spilled, but this ritzy restaurant couldn't have comped the dollar worth of drink she clearly had spilled accidentally when we were spending a few hundred dollars on dinner? Ok so then we order food - we ordered the appetizers at the same time as the food, but made it clear we wanted the appetizers before the main courses... as is customary with appetizers. Instead, everything came out together after ~10 minutes after us ordering. We had barely gotten a third of the way through our first drinks. The table was overcrowded, and by the time we finished the apps, our main dishes were cold. We expressed confusion and annoyance to the food runner who brought us our food, and soon after, the waiter came over, apologizing and blaming the kitchen. Ok, whatever , maybe it's the kitchens fault. But The kicker was her birthday dessert - not only had I called before asking that a dessert be brought out with candles at the end of the meal, but I also reiterated this to the hostesses upon arrival who ensured they would relay it to the waiter who would make something happen. You guessed it - no dessert was ever brought. Of course this is at the end of the meal and by the time I could sneak off to say something, the rest of my party was ready to leave. Super disappointing. I saw the manager at the hostess stand on the way out who could have cared less about our experience - she gave me a half ass apology and said to "find a manager next time you come in and we'll take care of you!" So, you want me to come in and spend MORE money after this experience? And what do you want me to say, "Yeah, last time here was really shitty and I was told to ask for a manager next time"? Really the whole thing was disappointing- especially because we had planned for it to be a birthday celebration. Probably won't be returning. I think they know they have the name and reputation and "Frosé" to keep them busy so they can kind of skimp on the service and everything else. read more

I love this restaurant. The first time I visited, it was just myself and my husband, and it made for a great date night spot. Our second visit was with my parents and our 2 kids - 6 and 7 years of age. I think they do such a great job being family friendly yet providing a great atmosphere for adults. Kids meals are only $10 and they get so. Much. Food! I love love the crab cakes with the Hampton potatoes, and the jar of crab makes a wonderful app. It might be basic but I do love their frosé ‍ Otherwise, they have a wonderful drink menu that switches up by season. Went to order our lunch and ordeRed the chicken sandwich...they were out of chicken....so second choice was shrimp tacos....out of shrimp! No lie!! So I ordered the Maui sandwich. It was fine. The service is efficient and friendly. The food is a whole other story. First of all, I lived in the Hamptons for 20 years. Except for the name and signs with the names of local towns (Sag Harbor, Shelter Island, etc.) this place has nothing in common with the Hamptons. If this place were in the Hamptons, it wouldn't last a week. The food is atrocious. Grease-laden fish and chips, over cooked pizzas, a cold dry chicken burger and a mahi-mahi (recommended by the server as her favorite) that was dry as a bone and served on a pile of barely digestible mashed potatoes. UPDATE: since my review, I've been contacted by both the CEO and the President of the company that owns the restaurant. They have assured me they are working with their vendor to fix the computational errors in this process. Since I wasn't the one who ate there, I just moved my review from 1 star to 4. Note: this is not about the food or service at the restaurant. In fact, I, personally was not there. However, my wife and her friends were. This is simply about poor business professionalism and trustworthiness. While entering my wife's purchase in our accounting system, I noticed she'd tipped the server more than we normally tip for solid service (always 20%). I mentioned that they must have had really good service for her to tip extra. She said that she hadn't taken note of the amount because she just chose the 20% option that was offered. Well, as you can see on the attached receipt, the resulting tip was actually more than 24% than the total (not including taxes) or 22.5% if you tend to tip on the overall taxed total. Eh. We were excited to try this place because it looked really cute inside and we saw that they had gluten free pizza crust. It was pretty empty on a Saturday night during season which should've been a sign.. the food was not good. My husband's pasta was decent but my pizza was boring and not worth the money. The worst part to me was their ranch. I know it may seem like a small thing but it was clearly store bought. I don't trust any kitchen that can't make their own ranch from scratch. Amanda is so special as our server. She knows the Menu and took the time To talk to us personally. She checked in on us often and made sure we were taken care of. We decided to try this restaurant to celebrate Christmas eve, as another restaurant has been a tradition for my husband and I every year. We decided to skip the restaurant that we have been going to, because our last 2 visits there were extremely disappointing ( I won't mention the restaurant on 5th ave). I think we have found our new tradition for Christmas Eve. The food at Hampton Social was amazing. The trout over vegetables was a very large portion and delicious! So large that I took half home. The side salad was not a side, but a meal in itself! Our waitress Paula was extremely attentive and friendly, and the entire tab with 2 glasses of wine before tip was $88.00. When restaurant week comes around I try multiple restaurants to see if I can find a new favorite. I found a new favorite! The Hampton Social delivered in every way. When I walked in, I loved the entire scene. The decor was super cute... It looked like an upscale lunchroom. Very open & airy. It is a little loud, but I didn't mind it at all. Not sure if it is a 1st date kind of place because of the noise level but I enjoyed the energy... The service was also really good. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu, the specials and had his opinion on what the "best" things to try were. The manager came by to make sure we were having a great experience. Did I mention that I really loved it here?! The FOOD!!!!!! Sooooooo, so good!!! The Brussels Sprouts. 3 words. To die for! I could eat these Brussels Sprouts every day they were so good. They were roasted with goat cheese (which I normally hate goat cheese) & a honey drizzle with almonds. I left NOTHING in that bowl. He did mention people normally share the portion. I ate the whole thing by myself this is the one time where I didn't apply the motto "sharing is caring". For my entree I had the steak frites. This is usually hit or miss at restaurants... it was a hit here! My skirt steak was perfectly cooked (medium), full of flavor and juicy. The fries were a tad bit salty for my taste, but I ate them all, so clearly it wasn't that big of a deal. For dessert I had the cheesecake & since I'm allergic to strawberries, normally restaurants just bring you a plain boring cheesecake. Nope. I got a cheesecake with an amazing lemon curd & creme fraiche. It was delicious! Not one thing disappointed me at The Hampton Social.
