Driving through, picked here because of its Yelp rating and review. Menu was a great balance of standbys (burger, salads, etc.) and unique and interesting dishes. Reasonable prices. Everything about this place seemed genuine. Food was clearly made with care, not just slapped together. We engaged with a few employees, all who knew more about the menu and extensive beer list than at most similar restaurants. They also seemed to actually care about the experience our family with kids was having, despite being a place where you order at the register and take a number to your seat. Oh, and everything we consumed was delicious. Ssam Fries were different and fantastic. Surprisingly delighted by this spot, will definitely be back. read more

Our family stopped in for dinner on our drive through town while we were on our camping trip and tried their margherita and pesto pizzas. The guy at the counter was super friendly and gave us some good recs for drinks to accompany our pies. They must have been having a good night because our food and drinks were quite tasty. read more

Typically I love this place. They usually have great food and service is good but lately that has not been my experience. Went there the other day, tipped more than I normally do because of previous experience there and wish I had not. My order sat on the bar outside the kitchen for 20 mins. I watched 3 ppl walk up to it, look at the order, and walk away. I purposely did not go up and ask if that was mine because I wanted to see how long it would sit before sometime payed attention. 35 mins go by and still have not received my order. I finally went to the counter and asked if my order was ready and told them it has been over 30 mins. Turns out that was my order just sitting up there while everyone is too busy chatting with their colleagues. I told them it had been sitting there. No apology, no offer to remake the order. I've worked in customer service for a long time and that is not how that situation should have been handled. I got home and my pizza was soggy in the middle because it sat and moisture collected on bottom of pizza box. Needless to say my food was terrible when I got home, a complete waste of a $30 meal. I will Not be going here anymore unless they change ownership. Not pleased at all. read more

We drive from Portland to Brooking on a regular basis and we usually blast straight through with only a stop for gas in Grants Pass. Last night we decided to stop for dinner and used Yelp to discover The Haul. It changed our perception of Grants Pass! The clientele ranged from 20-something's to families in a loud but fun atmosphere. We enjoyed the pork chop (awesome!), the Bi-animal burger (daughter devoured in 39 seconds!), and the spaghetti squash and hazelnut linguini. And the delicious pickle plate. We will return and recommend to family who make the same drive we do! read more

Good service. Good is delicious. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, a burger, and the pork coriander dumplings. All excellent. The fries are so good. Seasoned perfectly. The dumplings, unbelievable. Def can tell these were all made with fresh ingredients. Excellent beer selection as well. Yum! read more

The raw interior and the garage doors are fantastic! I absolutely LOVE the gluten free carrot cake! The chicken tacos are good, but we have not found a main dish that is fantastic. On our last visit, I ordered the kale salad for $8 and my husband had a side salad with his food for half the price, the 2 salads were almost the same size and his had more color, texture and flavor! Also, the fries were disappointing, being served on a small flat plate- the bottom portion of the fries are cold and soggy from sitting in the grease. As of right now, I will be going back to the Haul, but I think it will be to get some carrot cake to go. Unless I can try the Pizza on a GF crust....... read more

Staying in Grant's Pass for a few nights and the concierge (if you can call it that) at the lodge recommended this place. There is one thing that will be, hands down, the best thing we had on this trip, and it will be the churros. Unreal. Hot, light, fluffy. Unreal. That night after dinner we went and had beers at some other local joints, but had to go back to get a second order of churros. That's how good they are. If you're in Grant's Pass, get off the freeway and get these churros. Seriously. Feels like a gastropub from San Fran or Seattle but with a distinctly Southern Oregon vibe to it. The microbrew was astonishingly consistent, especially for having so many options (12-15 by my count). Typically these places have one or two good beers and the rest are a little rough, but there were a handful here I'd order regularly. Staff was hip and friendly. Customers were low key and having a good time. Surprisingly family friendly and saw tables with kids and teenagers upstairs. The pub style food was creative but not over the top, with fresh ingredients and good variety. Obviously didn't try everything on the menu but what we had was excellent and reasonable portions. Interesting place with diverse cocktails and even Nitro Coffee. They also sell cold cuts and cheeses and have a limited selection of small plate offerings and a good selection of beer. This place comes across as very hip and with it but lacks Public WiFi.... My wife had the Smoked Pork with Garlic Potatoes and she loved it. I had the Chorizo Black Bean Tacos and the Pickled Vegetable platter - both of which Were very tasty. Highly recommended! read more

The Haul is a great addition to Grants Pass dining choices. A casual atmosphere with a physical setting more like an urban area, the menu is fun, easy and varied. I love the vegetarian tacos with sweet potatoes. The beer selection alone is worth coming in for, and the specialty drinks make you just want to work your way down the list!! Not an intimate experience though, be prepared to sit on benches near others and speak in a loud voice. Since you'll be working your way through the drink list, you might as well meet people. read more

Went for the New Year's party. Fun atmosphere. It was busy with everyone crowded by the bar. It was our first time there. We stood at the bar for quite awhile before we saw that there was a specific place where we needed to order. It was hidden in all the people and we just missed it. The line was a little confused with people coming in from every direction. We did not have food, just beer. Then headed upstairs for live music. Not the best venue for live music, but has potential. The upstairs was well lit. Much better when they turned lights down, except then the band was in the dark as there isn't any stage lighting. Table configurations made it difficult to see the band. Also, at some point these young boys, around 10 years old walked through the dance floor...a couple times. No one working seemed to care that there were minors there. Overall a couple imperfections that I think they can sort out. It's new, beautifully done, and definitely not the norm for Grants Pass. Very hipster Portland-ish. We will definitely come back on a quieter evening to try more beers (what we had was great and a good selection), and also give the food a try. read more

Beer is great. Food is better. The Haul could be in any large city in this country and probably in a few others. The beer selection is very well done, and those who are serving it know what they are talking about. If you're thinking local-ish microbrews, you're on the right track. I had the "Cuban Sandwich" aka the Cubano and it was excellent. The vegetarian tacos were a favorite with our group and they looked amazing. We spent a couple of hours here and ended up meeting both owners. Both of them were really friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. The staff is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. They were working on a room upstairs that I believe is to be a private dining room for groups. That place is going to be amazing. The next time I'm in GP, I'm going to ask that we go to the Haul again. I don't think anyone is going to argue with me. read more

Casual bar type eatery with a good beer selection. The place was very busy when we turned up, and maybe they were understaffed as the tables weren't clear and they were running out of glasses. The menu was very straight forward, we got the pizza because of another review off yelp. It was as good as the other review said, fresh and crispy just like a wood fired pizza should be. They need to lift the side salad game a though, some leaves with beetroot jammed on top doesn't really cut it for presentation. It was tasty enough. The beer options were good, and after sampling a couple it was easy to make our choices. A good spot I would return to with a nice relaxed atmosphere for chilling out and eating. read more

Ginger Saison was just the thin for an unseasonably warm February afternoon, but we enjoyed the garage doors in their up position. I had the sweet potato black bean tacos and The Husband ate The Cuban sandwich. Both were good. Cuban had notable bread and smoked ham. We split the Rosemary Garlic Fries. Decor is awesome inside. Love the vibe. The food was underwhelming. My friend got the curry chicken sandwich and we all agreed it was 'mild.' Then I tried my other friend's bison burger and my response was the same: mild. Not bad at all, just nothing to write home about. I did enjoy the cobb salad I ordered, just wished it could have come on a bigger plate (so it wasn't in danger of slipping off the side with every bite). They were out of the ipa we ordered and the server brought two tasters of a heff and a sour 'because they were the most similar to what [we had] ordered.' This place is great. Great atmosphere and amazing food. We went for lunch and I had the caesar salad with chicken and their smoked tomato and rosemary soup. The salad was really good and the chicken was very moist. The soup was the best soup I have ever had. Our son ordered the pepperoni pizza which was also delicious. Their crust was prefect, not too thin and not too thick but loads of flavor. They have a great lounge upstairs with a bunch of little tables, a bar and a stage where they have an open mic night and live music. This would defiantly be a fun place we would love to hangout at at night. They also have a great after hours menu. If your in the area you must stop by. read more

I ate here fairly late, so I'm willing to accept that my experience would have been better at a more normal hour of, say, 7 or 8 o'clock. Arrived at 10:15, ordered the braised pork sandwich and a beer. The sandwich came with a salad and fries were extra. I was very hungry and ate everything without issue, but it wasn't what I expected from the five star reviews. Pork was bland and uninspiring, the lettuce was coated, and the fries were fairy tough. I'd give the meal a 5/10. Very average. The atmosphere and crowd were nice, and I'd certainly be willing to go back for a second opinion. read more
