I couldn't say enough about Mo's Healing Tree. There is nothing else like it in the Conejo Valley area. If you are looking for a holistic approach to living the best version of your self go here. This place was so helpful with all my random issues and didnt mind taking the time to put together a bunch of different items for me. I got a couple charcoal & bamboo detox mats for $80. I looked into buying another one online since i live far away now & it was there for $130. I have no idea how there can be such a huge price discrepancy. But i love all their stuff there. You pay for what you get and what you get is beautiful tea. The selection is bewildering but Mo, the owner is so helpful you just cannot go wrong. Mo knows everything about tea and will make you samples to try which is invaluable. Comparing tea side by side really lets you focus in on what you like. I bought some Lapsang Souchong and it is fabulous. Although it seems expensive I find that I use very little per cup and it has lasted me ages - much, much longer than I had anticipated. Ask to try the hard Ginger - quite an experience and if you end up buying some (I did) buy much less than you think. It goes a long way and we still have lots left after 5 weeks! read more

A guy named Lenny might own the place, but Mo runs it. In addition to a vast variety of loose teas, the store has other feel-good items such as herbs, incense, salts, and soaps. There is also an acupuncturist there. Call for his schedule, though, because he isn't there every day. Mo is a certified Chinese Herbalist and will work with you, to provide a custom herbal regimen to treat what ails you. I believe he's off on Monday, so it is a good idea to call for an appointment. As with most small mom & pop businesses, he's had to really cut back on expenses. Unfortunately, the Thai massage guy isn't there anymore. OMG I had the best foot/leg massage EVER at Healing Tree. I hope Mo will bring this service back when the economy and his revenues improve. read more

I try to come in at least once a week to grab a tea (whatever the tea of the day is iced) and see whatever new products they have. Always a nice mix of locally made products in the store (candles, wellness products, food). Moe (manager) does tongue readings as well, and has a Chinese remedy or tincture for just about anything. Well, THAT was depressing. The two kids working there were VERY nice, but knew nothing. Where is this tea from? Is it Chinese or from from Taiwan or? When was it harvested,what year at least? Is this a 2014 or 2015?? Ok, maybe that's asking too much. How about what kind of puerh ARE these mini tou cha's? Nope. Ok, how about a tasting? Maybe they will have been trained well in that. Fellow uses a gaiwan, that's good. Oh, you are going to put honey and coconut oil in that, um, can we NOT do that and just try it 'straight'? No rinse of the leaves, really? Another employee or guest asked 'why a rinse' and employee waves off the question saying 'it's just an old tradition.' Geez. There are lots of reasons for rinses, from cleaning off dirt/debris from an older puerh, to just 'waking up the leaves'! I told them they could steep this tea half a dozen times or more and they both seem surprised. I wish I needed or wanted a job, I could turn this place into a veritable experience of mindfulness, joy in being One with a sip of tea and some knowledge and history of tea and Chi and Huigan, and like I said, I am a relative newbie. This was so depressing. CUTE space, cannot believe I didn't spend money here, very silly experience makes me literally ache for a more tea savvy city. This community desperately needs more Gongfu tea drinkers and this shop is all we've got, and the lack of knowledge was disheartening. I myself have only been into good Chinese, Taiwanese,Thai etc loose teas for six months and I knew way more than these two sweet kids. And I'm no rocket scientist. I would also have bought things, even with the lack of info on the tea canisters etc, but for instance, to buy the smallest amount of Goji berries, (as I have never tried them so didn't want to make a large commitment) was 2 ounces, over $12! No way! Love to buy one of those little individual gold wrapped Puerh squares, but you CAN'T. I walked out with my wallet as full as when I went in, and I am a person who spends hundreds monthly from online tea vendors. I am hopeful if the owner, Mo(?) had been there the experience would have been totally different. If not, then I would rate The Healing Tree far lower, but I will go back when the owner is there and hope to find someone with a true knowledge and passion for tea who wants customers new to tea to leave excited and a little more tea-savvy than when they went in. I've been going to The Healing Tree for years. They entice you with fabulous teas, and you leave spiritually lifted somehow. Mo is a Chinese physician that offers evaluations/exams. The store also offers Chinese herbs, acupuncture, foot detox and other alternative healing services. I've tried the foot detox, acupuncture and Thai massage. I highly recommend to anyone regular foot detox. I've been lucky enough to enjoy the fresh juices Mo creates for my individual needs - mouth watering to say the least.
