I finished my workout at the gym (Planet Fitness) and had to walk back to my vehicle which was parked a bit further west due to how full the gym was. I usually get something from Rita's but noticed the SS Cafe almost next to it. Not ever hearing about this cafe and thinking it was possibly an independent business, a mom-and-pop per se, I went in to check it out. The interior was very simplistic, semi-minimalist with warm relaxing colors. There was a Buddha painting in the back area and a number of framed coffee shop art and positive affirmations. The front service desk had the menu of food items adorned on chalkboards on the floor leaning on the desk's front board. There were an assorted array of smoothie flavors, baked goods, acai berry bowls, and paninis. All this delicious food is made with love and affection by the owner and chef extraordinaire of SS Cafe, Gabby. On a sidenote as a joke with a dash of honesty, I joked with Gabby the reason why so many men come in is because she's a one-two punch: creates delicious food, and is gorgeous. But seriously, it is great to see more mom-and-pop businesses, especially restaurants take root in Palm Bay, FL. The restaurant is simplistic and nice, food is great, and Gabby is very presentational. As for pricing, it is fair but I will admit they are higher on average given its locale. Will definitely return and try more of their paninis as well as more of their drink, especially smoothie, flavors.

Case and point: almost every major gym had a Tropical Smoothie nearby. These days, Tropical Smoothie is no longer the powerhouse they used to be. However, at times, I stop by and find their selection nostagically delicious. As for this particular location? It has "fallen from grace" from the first times I been here, but overall, they are not bad. But on the other hand, there are better Tropical Smoothies out there. This Tropical Smoothie is located on Babcock St., south of Hibiscus Blvd. and north of US-192. Remember what I said about gyms always nearby Tropical Smoothies? Fitness Society and Club 4 Gym is nearby. Getting into the parking lot for Tropical Smoothie is not hard. Easier to make the right turn in for sure, but there is a left-turn lane in the center of Babcock St. Just respect the right-of-way and you're golden. Inside, the biggest take-away I found was how minimalistic the decor was. It is no longer the vibrant beach theme it used to have. Instead, we get simple tables and chairs and certain painted walls. No pictures, no fake plants, nothing. However, the addition of online ordering might be where most of their business is now. There was a line and it seemed as if there were only two people working that day. Ergo, service was kind, but slow. This was probably the most glaring issue I came across, but I do not want to dunk on the workers. They were great. However, businesses seem to not know how to keep up with the times. Restaurants, in general, are having a hard time keeping staff. I ordered one of their protein smoothies as I am a protein hog, and the classic PB & J with banana flatbread. Both were delicious and maybe it was me, but the prices see adequate for inflation. Nothing too expensive actually. Overall, not a bad visit, but I remember the heyday and this is not what it was. I will say my visit was average and the food is still good for what it is. However, I did check macros and just like back then, I stopped drinking too many of their smoothies because the sugar content is quite high. Whenever I go to church on Sundays, I may make the stop to get more flatbreads and a smoothie every now and then. I will have to see if they have a sugar-free option with Stevia sweeteners. If they do, they'll definitely get that boost.

Online orders stare they will be ready in 10 minutes but that is not the case when it is busy. Their online system should account for this and not always give the same time for every order. During the lunch hours it can get ridiculous. I would recommend ordering online 20-30 minutes before you would like to pick up. There is seating inside, cubby squares to put up online orders that you look for your name on the receipt and take yourself. The ambience is casual and noise level is average. Their straws for me are very difficult to open, maybe I haven't figured out the technique. The food I have tried is pretty good and they even have kids sizes. Some of the smoothies are high in sugar so don't think their smoothies are all healthy. I believe the quality of service would greatly improve if this location could be staffed with more employees or they need to get rid of phone/online orders (I would greatly miss this gesture) if they cannot staff it well enough to keep up. I witness an employee almost have a meltdown during the rush one day.

When I first visited Urban Tea in Indian Harbour Beach, I tried the A1A Boba, which is delightful. I also tried the acai bowls like the Pink Dragon and The Tropics. I truly wish the management team would fix this, ensuring everything runs smoothly from the time the order is placed to when the drink or food is made and handed to the customer or guest. The ambiance combines a beach vibe with flavorful drinks.

Now the last two times have been the same person. This last time we got three different drinks. Mine was one of their energy drinks. Blended. It was supposed to be orange cream but it tastes like a pixie stick. Too sweet and gritty. And no creamsicle flavoring. I ended up just throwing it out. My son got a chocolate boba. And it was essentially powered chocolate milk with boba balls. Gritty also and he threw his out too. Third one was a Tiger sugar boba. It was edible. But the damage has been done. All this was 27 bucks plus tip. Interior is clean but their stools and chairs are very uncomfortable. This has been a sad disappointment since we crave success for all of the beachside businesses. But this has been such a disappointment. We hope they figure it out but we won't be back for a while as we see if the market lets them survive.

First of all when we walked in it was not busy yet it took several minutes to get someone up to the counter to help us. The employees were discussing break times and that they were waiting for the smoothie person to get back from their break, all being discussed loudly. Finally we had our order taken by a not so enthusiastic employee, proceeded to wait over 15 minutes for our order. While waiting we noticed several customers walked in and stood at the counter for awhile without being greeted. We finally received 2 smoothies, one of which was not the Mango Madness we are used too. It was basically ice with little flavor. Still waiting for our food, we told one of the employees that the smoothie did not taste the way it usually did and proceeded to make another one which tasted just as yucky. It was at this time we happened to discovered our food had been sitting on the counter (our name was never called) and getting cold. We are sorry to say that the service here was less than par and the smoothies were horrible. I would most definitely not frequent this location again, but would purposely drive farther to get the quality, consistency as well as the customer service we have grown to love from Trooicsl Smoothie.
