Tiger lily offers to go cups of tea (iced or hot) with filter lids!

Tiger lily is a must stop at old mistick village! They offer a lot of different types of tea leaves as well as tea accessories such as bottles and tea cups. They have jars of all the different tea leaves so that customers can smell it. If you are not someone to make tea at home, they also offer to go cups! You can try a cup of any of the teas there for $3.50! You can get it iced or hot, sweetened or unsweetened. The to go cups have a filter lid so that no tea leaves will go in your mouth as you drink. The owner is super friendly and knowledgeable in tea. My go to is the cherry rose tea. They also have traditional Chinese tea that isn't available anywhere else in the area.

Here you can see how everything on the label is plagiarized directly from the Metropolitan Tea Company. Bag on the right was $10 for 100 gr.

I stopped by during the summer of 2016. The quality of products and service was fine. I'm just posting this update so that I can add a photo showing you what I discovered a couple months later when I ran out of one of the teas I purchased from the shop. When I Googled it, I discovered the Angel Falls Mist tea was made by Metropolitan Tea Company; everything on the MTC bag is copied verbatim onto Tigerlily's bag, which appears to have home-printed labels. (If you look closely, you can tell it's an inkjet printer). In academia, we call this plagiarism. The MTC bag was $10 for 100 grams ($0.10 per gram), whereas Tigerlily's bag was $6.85 for 28 grams ($0.24 per gram). The steeping instructions were also identical on both bags. In the shop, Tigerlily claims its teas are organic, but there is no certification labeling on any of the bags (e.g. USDA organic label, etc.). I will let you draw your own conclusions at this point. I personally would not return to Tigerlily for any of my teas.

Drinking the pure goodness in a filtered cup. So cool!

As a tea lover, this place was paradise!! A room full of completely organic selections from many regions. The proprietor was super knowledgable and helpful with all of our questions. We purchased 3 iced teas to go (blueberry, jasmine and lemon/mango). The flavors were subtle, yet distinguished. So refreshing and the perfect beverage to carry while journeying through Old Mystic village. Highly recommend!!

The tea cups are so unique! With a built in filter you NEVER get any loose tea in your mouth as you enjoy every sip!

Being a consumer here in boutiques like these are is very experiential; the decor, the products, merchandise, selection & assortment & presentation, all tie-in together.

December 2025 Yikes!…read moreThis place is not where you come for hot cocoa or hot tea. There are too many choices in the area to buy a good quality hot drink. This is not. The service was horrendous. My drink was four dollars and I got charged a dollar more for no reason. Making it five dollars. The drink was not hot and tasted more like water than hot cocoa. We asked for it to be heated up and they said they could not do that. They told us the half-and-half makes the hot chocolate cooler than if we were to order just hot chocolate with water. I thought that was a problem. But then I had to deal with the rude attitude of two of their employees. When we told them that our drink was not hot and asked them to heat it up, they told us that they could not do so. They said they would have to remake it and they could just put hot water in with no cream. The snippy, sassy attitude was not appreciated. The adorable ambience of the teahouse is worth a visit. More of a walk-through. But I would never come here again with the attitude of two of their female employees. I can't imagine if I was rude to them how much worse they would have treated me. There are too many choices in this cute village to spend your money. Save it. Do not come here.

I'm so glad I tried the deviled egg - that crispy clam strip was such a nice touch and being Ukrainian, the beet pickling is in my DNA! Excellent brunch choice for our Mystic getaway!

There were 6 of us for brunch and none of us had been here before. The Shipwright's Daughter rivals many excellent experiences we had and surpasses most. The staff was super friendly and did everything they could to make our experience memorable. The brunch menu offers a nice assortment of options as we had one member in our party who had some eating restrictions. We started off with both raw and roasted oysters, both of which, we some of the best we have ever had. I love Shashuka. I've never had it with tomatillos. This version is now my favorite. I enjoyed the play between savory and acid. I chose my eggs to be prepared over easy expecting the yolks to add the desired richness that tomatillos can handle without overpowering their bite. What set this version apart for me was the addition of the pickled vegetables. They greatly complimented the tomatillos with their own sweetness and acidity that made for a well balanced bite. Others in our party felt similarly, that their meals were so flavorful and so well execucted that it made for a superb dining experience.
