    Wall of honor

We were looking for a quick stop for launch in Titusville and stumbled on this place - so glad we did! A nice little place with a few tables (lots of takeout traffic while we were there!). As an Army brat, I love that the owners are veterans (as are their two sons!) and the decor includes a wall of honor for service members from all branches (as well as first responders). All the food looks delicious and we look forward to coming back and trying the wings and burgers, but hubs and I opted for the cheesesteaks (one beef and one chicken) on this visit. Both were very good and had plenty of meat; I would have preferred a toasted bun. There is also a little grocery adjoining the restaurant which looked great!

First and foremost, this establishment is owned & operated by veterans. The burgers are tasty, reasonably priced, and cooked to order. The small order of onion rings...not small at all! The ambiance is veteran-ish... 6 tables simply stated seat 24. The service is extremely fast and efficient. Try the steak burger...well seasoned and comes with sautéed green peppers and onions.

I stopped by to grab some subs before heading to Playa Linda, and I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional service. Everyone I encountered, from the person who took my sub order to the friendly staff behind the meat counter and the person who made my shake, was incredibly cordial and helpful. Although I didn't catch their names, their warmth and willingness to assist made my experience memorable. The ambience was clean and pleasant, enhancing my visit even more. I had to drag my "L" out, or she would've bought the entire store.

This place is good food, good vibes, with great people running it. The restaurant is also connected to a meat market and a juice bar/fruit/convenience store. We had two steak phillies and one chicken philly, all were juicy and the bread was so soft. The employees were so so nice and helpful, bringing us sides of terriyaki and anything we needed. We even went to the meat market next door and purchased some chicken florentine sausages, which were so delicious! Definitely a local family spot with great food and a lot to offer!

The Heroes Grill, 1300 South St., Titusville, FL 32780 4 Stars It seems that my random name generator has led me to yet another greasy spoon restaurant catering to the first responder and veteran community. I have nothing against them, as I was once a first responder myself. However, like everyone else, they deserve good food, which has yet to be found in such establishments (though that's about to change, but I digress). If I didn't review restaurants, I would never go to a place that prioritizes one segment of the population over another. Most of these places shamelessly try to wrap themselves in patriotism, making non-"patriots" feel ashamed. It gives off the same vibe as any hollow act of virtue signaling. The owner, Leshawn, works at the front counter. She is an exceptionally charming lady with excellent customer service skills. She deals with her patrons impeccably and is a true "people person." I asked Lovely Leshawn for a Cheesesteak with jalapenos and a Gyro burger. At this point, a toothless Titusvillian attempted to correct my proper pronunciation of Gyro (in Greek, the "G" is silent, so the word is pronounced as Yee-rrrrrro, with a rolled "r"), using the incorrect pronunciation of Gyro (as hero), and then proceeded to mock me for it. Leshawn, with the calmness of the eye of a hurricane, informed the misguided octogenarian that I did pronounce it correctly. Vindication is a beautiful feeling. Hey, I've been divorced a few times; it's not often that a woman admits I'm right. Anyway, the Cheesesteak with jalapenos was outstanding. The bread was soft, the meat was tasty and seasoned with a decoction that instantly transported my taste buds to the City of Brotherly Love. The jalapenos added just enough kick to remind me that this was not your average Cheesesteak. Finding such flavorful and authentic food this far down the Eastern Seaboard was a delightful surprise. As delightful as the Cheesesteak was on the palate, the Gyro burger fell completely and utterly flat. It was enjoyable, but lacked seasoning. The bun was soft and fresh, and the tomato and lettuce were fine. The meat was perfectly cooked, although it lacked the distinct Gyro flavor. It could have been the tzatziki sauce that was lacking, but I'm not sure. Regardless, the Big Boy says, "This place is well worth a try. The food is well-prepared and enjoyable."

I ordered their lunch special Philly cheese steak 8 inch with fries for $18.50. The Philly cheese steak was seasoned to perfection. That being said the bread could've been fresher, It was chewy, the fries were standard, but cooked well. The person that served me my food & brought out my order was average/fair. I walked away with no feeling one way or the other about the service. My opinion is, I don't feel like I really got value for my money. The reason being, is because with the sandwich, I got no mayonnaise no lettuce, no tomato no pickles. It was a straight sandwich with no extras. Meat and bread. When I asked for extra onions, I was told it was gonna be an additional $1.50. I really couldn't even tell there was cheese on my sandwich . With all of that being said, the Philly cheese steak itself with the seasonings could have been a real showstopper with a little bit more love when preparing and giving the food. Maybe with some mayonnaise and lettuce and tomato help brighten the sandwich. It would be great! And fresh Bread. I would've walked away feeling like I paid for freshest fixings and a great cook on the Philly steak. Room for improvement.

Unfortunately, though, our experience was less than pleasant. The guy working was nice and friendly, which I appreciated. However, about a third of the menu was unavailable. He explained that they were in the process of changing the menu, but it was still disappointing since several of the unavailable items were actually the reason we decided to stop in. We ended up ordering a Philly cheesesteak, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, and a plain burger. The food was perfectly okay -- nothing particularly wrong with it, but nothing that stood out either. Unfortunately, there were several other little issues that added up. The soda machine seemed to be off, and the Coke tasted very strange. The restaurant itself could have been cleaner, with crumbs and other debris in the booths. The food came in little baskets without silverware, which is understandable given the type of food, but every napkin dispenser we checked was empty, so there wasn't even a convenient way to wipe your hands. The bathrooms also had no soap or paper towels, which was especially disappointing. Overall, the food was edible and the employee was friendly, but the combination of the limited menu, cleanliness issues, empty napkin dispensers, and lack of bathroom supplies made this a pretty inconvenient and unpleasant experience. Hopefully some of these things were simply due to them being in the middle of a menu transition, but based on our visit, I wouldn't be in a hurry to return.

Before I even got my food, I had a great interaction with Mercedes at the counter. She was genuinely friendly, easy to talk to, and didn't rush the moment, which set a really positive tone right away. I ordered a cheesesteak with everything on it, and when it came out, it was clear they don't cut corners here. The sandwich was fully loaded from one end to the other, with finely chopped steak that was juicy and well seasoned. The cheese was melted throughout instead of just sitting on top, so every bite had that same balanced flavor. Even with all the toppings, nothing felt overwhelming, and the bread held everything together without falling apart. It also came with fries, which were hot and crispy, and I paired everything with a peach Crush. That combination worked really well, especially with how rich the cheesesteak was. Between the quality of the food and the customer service, this is an easy recommendation. If you are craving a cheesesteak and want something that actually feels worth it, this spot is a solid choice. The ambience was just simple. It gave a mom and pop shop vibe, I love it.

I tried the Philly cheesesteak on both occasions and I feel that something is off. On the first trip, I felt that the bread seems doughy and the meat to cheese ratio is off where there was too much cheese. The steak was chewy and different have must flavor that I'm used of tasting from a cheesesteak. In trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and believing that the experience was a bit off since this was carry out order and I didn't eat it right away, I decided to wait a bit before trying this place again. On the second trip, I ordered the same thing and paid extra to make it a hoagie (adding lettuce and tomatoes). I must say that I feel some kind a way about having to order extra for lettuce and tomatoes, but that was the choice I made. Instead of waiting, I decided to take a bite immediately when I got to my car. The bread was still too doughy for my liking and i feel there was too much cheese to make the sandwich too chewy. I tasted the meat separately and found the flavor lacking. In the end, I tossed the rest of the sandwich in the trash. So, I tried this place a couple of times and can't say I would go back for a third trip.
