Stopped by here during our first visit to the area. Staff was friendly and food was delicious. We got the Seafood Basket and the Florentine omelette. The everything in the seafood basket was great. The good stuff first......Excellent food. Everyone is friendly. Everyone. The owners, bar staff, and customers are really cool. Plus the prices are very reasonable.The live music and karaoke is pretty awesome too... So why not 5 stars.....the only problem is there is no dance floor or stage so there is no where to move around when the bands start jamming. Average small town diner inside and out, nothing particularly fancy or grungy. The one waitress I have had is very nice, happy to accommodate. Generally average diner fare, I got the Reuben, pretty good overall by my East Coast standards, with decent corned beef, lots of kraut, OK swiss, good 1000 island, and good marble rye. French fries were OK, not my favorite. Onion rings were a big surprise, large, whole onion slices, still sweet and juicy, coated in flavorful bread crumbs; very good. Prices were fair for what you get, and they have a "house brew" amber ale that was tasty. read more

Not sure how you confuse a Denny's restaurant with a SWEET dive bar that serves excellent food, has great service and plays classic rock. Cheap strong drinks, very nice wait staff, great ambiance..... if you're in Belfair and looking for a good, reasonably priced meal, check this place out! They offer tater tots as one of the sides and they're cooked perfectly, and their fried pickles are AMAZING!!! We had 2 beers, 2 vodka tonics, the Philly Cheesestak sandwich, the French Dip and fried pickle appetizer, and the bill was only $36. Dark and cozy enough to be a dive bar, and clean enough to enjoy your time there. read more

I recommend the philly cheesesteak or the bacon cheeseburger sliders -- with "onion straws." Restaurant seating in the front, bar + more tables in the back which hosts local music performances several evenings a week. Three out of the last six times I have been there, I have received terrible service. In August I went there, and waited almost an hour and 20 minutes to get our food. The next time, I ordered chicken fried steak to share with a friend, and the waitress brought us a tiny steak and the sides were just as tiny, as if they were trying to make a point about us sharing food. When my husband goes there and orders it from them, they bring him a good sized steak that he struggles to finish. The final straw was this Friday when we got there with our group of 8, (we go there every Friday) and there was another group of ten sitting in our usual spot. There were only two other customers sitting in the restaurant, yet we waited over thirty minutes just to get our menu. My husband and I I told her I didn't need a menu, because we already knew what we wanted, She told us that she would be back to take our orders because she was busy, and It took another 20 minutes for her to come back to take our order. I asked her then if it was going to be an additional 30 minute wait for our food, since I was starving, and she said probably, since they were very busy. We chose that moment to thank her and leave. She was very friendly, and I know it wasn't only her fault, and they may have been understaffed, but they weren't that busy to be that slow on a Friday night. I know my favorite waitress left them for another restaurant , and I have heard from other former employees that the working atmosphere there has gotten difficult. I am not trying to be bitter or petty, I had left a prior great review for JR's, the food is almost always excellent, and I will give them another chance, I hope they can sort things out, because there aren't very many options in Belfair to eat, especially in the evening. read more

Went on Tuesday for Taco Tuesday with 7 friends. We all ordered drinks, ate tacos and played pool afterward. When it was time to pay the tab, the waitress stiffed us for two extra drinks at $6.25 each!!! We were unable to convince her that my husband and I only ordered 5 drinks, not 7. Left a real bad taste for us. Tacos were less than average, but popcorn was fresh and free (unless you consider we paid for it by by being charged for two extra drinks we didn't order and didn't receive). read more

I stopped in here on a recommendation from many of the businesses in Belfair that get their lunch from here some of them get their breakfast from here including the Local Wrench. So I've been working since 2 a.m. so I was a little hungry and I went over and got breakfast and somebody had recommended that I get the chicken fried steak for breakfast. Will have to tell you the amount of food and the quality of the food blew me away. There was so much food there that it was basically enough for maybe two people or hair more but the quality of the taste of the food was really really good. Honestly I wasn't expecting a whole lot being that it was more of a Tavern Style location so I thought. After ordering getting to the food looking at the size the quality and the price boy do I have mud in my face we will be going back many times. read more

I have eaten at JR's several times before and the food has always been fine so when I went there yesterday I was expecting decent food. I had two problems with my last visit. I ordered the potato skins. The menu said they had green onions on them. When they arrived at the table, there was no green onion, but large chunks of a strong white onion. Not an acceptable substitute. Also they were not skins. I was basically served 2 whole baked potatos. The waitress was apologizing for the food and told us that they don't keep green onion in the kitchen and when she had this item, she brought green onion from home. I don't know why she didn't tell me that when I ordered, but she said she wouldn't charge us. I said I would eat them later so would pay for them. My friend had the Rueben and said it was good. My other issue is the reason I probably won't return. There was another patron there with his dog and the waitress picked up the dog and put it on a bar chair and then the man picked up the dog so it was sitting at the bar. If they want to let a dog at the bar that is their decision, but I don't want to eat where they allow this. I know this is a personal pet peeve of mine so if you don't mind the food and staff are good. read more

I was in Belfair for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and went to JR's for brunch on a Monday. Even though it was Monday it was very busy (which says good things about a place!) The bar looked laid back, we didn't go in the bar, but it looked like a place I'd like to hang out for a drink another time. I enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant, it had a country hometown type feel, and the waitstaff was really on top of things. Our breakfast took a while to come out, which I didn't mind because it was busy, and I figured since I ordered eggs benedict, if it takes a while, that likely means it'll have real hollandaise instead of being out of a packet. And sure enough, not only was it hollandaise from scratch, that was probably the best eggs benedict I've ever had. Anywhere. Including some very fancy expressive places. If I go back to Belfair for a get-away again, I am definitely going back to JR's. And I am SO eating another eggs bene! read more

The lunch and dinner here is AWESOME, Huge custom Burgers. I wish I had taken a photo. I always get a burger an sweet potato fries and I haven't finished one yet, but I keep trying. They have a restaurant and a pub area that's just as big with pool table. The staff are always cheerful when I've been there. I'm really shocked this place isn't packed all the time. If they had a HD projector or something, that would pretty much complete that place for me. There is 3 large TV's in there though. Go Hawks! read more

First off, the yelp directions took us to Casey's... next, we went for karaoke which was advertised as starting at 9pm. The first song started at 9:50pm. Once it started it was fine, but that's 1-2 songs depending on the size of the rotation. The bar food smelled good (we only had dessert). I like JR's for takeout. Their reubens are my favorite; their taco salad is really good too. Always ready when I come to pick it up, and the person taking my phone order is always really helpful. The prices are good, too. Overall a great place to pick up dinner to go. I actually have never eaten in, but it appears to be a fairly typical diner atmosphere. If you like grease and cold food, this place is for you! I ordered an omelet with no onion. I got cold eggs filled with onions. The waitress did offer to fix it but, I just asked to heat it up in the microwave. My breakfast also came with toast which was brought out 10 min after my meal. My husband ordered chicken fried steak with gravy. He said that the gravy was tasteless, no hint of sausage flavor. And, his eggs were way undercooked. Very good. My girls have never eaten a full meal at any restaurant EVER... but after a day at lake cushman we decided to stop and so glad we did. I had the chicken Alfredo. They were out of grilled chicken and asked if I wanted to add shrimp I declined and told them I would take it without the chicken. One daughter had the grilled cheese which she said was the best one she'd ever had my other daughter and the hubs had the crispy chicken sandwich. Both liked it. All the plates were picked clean. And to my surprise they knocked off half the price of my dish due to the no chicken. I didn't ask for this as I am the one who took the meal as is. My girls are itching to go back for breakfast.. my only complaint if I had to give one is I don't like to have to ask for more water. But my glass never got refilled. The food is great as I have never tasted a bad meal there and the prices are very reasonable as well. Service is not bad and the place has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Jr's is also a super biker friendly place and with a free meal of Tacos every Tuesday, they show their appreciation for the loyal customers who frequent their establishment. If you like to listen to good live music, they also feature talented local bands and have no cover charge! Good friends, good food, good music and a good time, that is what you get at Jr's. What a change from the last time we were there. The food service was right at the bottom of my comfort level. The only reason we did not leave was we had driven 40 minutes there to get a good hamburger. We enter the restaurant and the adventure started. Waited for 10 minutes for the server to arrive with menu's and then it was another 5 minutes before she took our order. Then the wait came. It took over 40 minutes for 3 hamburgers to arrive almost an hour after we arrived. A table came in after us, ordered and was severed was about done before we even got our food. There was one brief conversation 15 minutes into the wait our food was on the grill. The hamburgers were OK this time but nothing great. As I left I told the server it was not a good experience and she used the excuse that if was her first day back after a long layoff. She did offer a coupon for free food and I turned it down. On a Friday evening, Fourth of July weekend no less, there is a single waitress on the restaurant side. Three of us ordered fish and chips, one ordered country fried steak. The fish was LITERALLY dripping. The one with the chicken fried steak didn't get any silverware. Also, the fish and chips come with coleslaw. After she brought our food, she told us there was no coleslaw and they couldn't make more. I said something about us only getting part of what we are paying for. She said there is nothing she can do. We asked for the manager AND SHE WAS THE MANAGER. So, terrible food, terrible service, rips you off. NEVER, EVER go to this horrible restaurant. read more

I liked the restaurant when it first opened - but the last time I went there I was very disappointed. The Prime Rib was half fat, grizzle and tough. The dressing - that used to be gorgonzola was now a watered down "blue cheese?". The potatoes were boxed and cold. When they opened they were well above average - now they're less than mediocre. Been there 40 times. Thought after the owners learned and closed down their experiment and competition of the Union River Grill that JR's would improve. It has Not. Nine times I have visited and eaten here since then. Tonight was the worst. Lets start with there was about 15 people poker games finishing up. All total there was about 25 people on the bar side. It took 45 minutes to get salad for my dinner I ordered 30 minutes before, Oh, it came with "fresh" dinner... (All of dinner was poor at best) Everyone I saw in the bar was complaining. They were terribly understaffed all over tonight. This is similar to what I have seen in the past. I should have just not tried again. I won't unless I hear some serious staffing changes happen! read more

Met friends on a Saturday night. Not many people (in the bar area). Waitress got our drinks quickly/friendly so we were off to a good start. As to the food, DH got a Club sandwich w/Cole slaw. Kitchen accidentally gave him fries, too so he had both. Good thing as the slaw was downright inedible. I notice he wasn't eating it so I tasted it and it tasted ONLY of plastic container. So gross. I had the chicken quesadilla which was pretty good but there was a good bit of raw onion involved for those who have issues with that. Service was only fair. She never came back to see if we needed anything or wanted drink refills (sale lost there as we would probably have had another drink)! Slow service can't be blamed on it being busy either as we were the only customers there by the time we left. Sad for a bar on a Saturday night at 7 PM! read more
