The Steak tampiquena I e had at a few restaurants in NY and were much better. And came in a red sauce. This one was a super thin steak that came with a chicken mole flauta and they spread that salsa over everything. Not a fan.

We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. We mainly ordered from the sushi menu for 4 nigiris and 1 simple roll. And they are Albacore Tuna, Tuna, Yellowtail and Salmon for nigiris and Yellowtail roll. For some sides, we ordered Mushroom Miso Soup, Age Tofu and Vegetable Tempura. -Mushroom Miso Soup: The mushrooms were shiitake kind. They were dined into very small pieces which I thought was not the typical way to put in miso soups or any other kind. They are simply sliced from the top to the bottom to have the "shape" of them intact. Well, at any rate, however, the soup tasted good although it lacked the "depth " of miso soup I wanted to taste in it. Not bad, however. And it was hot! -Age Tofu: Freshly out of the oil in which the battered tofu pieces were cooked in it. Thin crispy out layer was perfectly crisp. The tofu was hot inside there as we took a bit into it a steam came out. Quite good. -Vegetable Tempura: They also did a great job on the thin batter that coated each vegetable piece. Nice and crispy on the outside; the veggies were perfectly cooked where they weren't mushy at all. -Fishes on the nigiri sushi and the roll: This is what made my daughter impressed when she dined here twice prior to yesterday's visit. And I got to taste it. I immediately saw why she was raving about this place. They were large and fresh. And to produce this quality in this mountain town in Colorado is something I could give them my accolades. Nothing tasted old so no fishiness or sourness; they all smelled clean with the perfect texture. And some of them melted away as we chewed: the absolute indication of fresh fish. Service was basic and yet good enough. Since we were pretty much the only remaining table for the lunch hour after that one table that left earlier, all of our food came out of the kitchen and sushi bar quickly. Ambience was good. Enjoyed sitting at one of the two-person tables that is round and is located on its own away from other tables right by one of the windows and near the sushi bar. The sushi bar had a nice atmosphere as well. Clean indeed. The patio seating is available and quite spacious. I can comfortably recommend this place to someone I know if they are looking for a reliable sushi place in Breckenridge.

Sat down in the restaurant a few days ago for the first time. I've had a number of my friends recommend this place for a hot minute, and I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint. The whole restaurant has a very rustic feel to it. From the wood paneling to the old photos on the walls, the entire dining room gives off the feel of a ski lodge back in the day. I'd love to see a place like this up top the mountain over in Keystone or Breck. The amount of character this place brings is ridiculous. Speaking of ridiculous, lets talk about the food. I don't know if this was a just one time thing, maybe a weird shipment or something, but the asparagus they serve you? It's large enough to be considered a blunt force instrument. I'm not joking. If I had to go into a street fight with the option of a knife, a baseball bat, or one of this restaurant's asparagus, I'm picking the giant green 2X4. Something capable of pulling double duty as a support beam in my house AND feeding a small 3rd world country is definitely an A+ in my books. More so that it was delicious. The Mint also does something I've only ever seen one other restaurant do, and that's they let you cook your own food. Meat specifically. They have a meat counter where you can choose from a range of poultry, beef, or seafood. From there, you're given your cut and a pair of tongs, and led over to a communal grill pit. There's instructions on the wall for anyone new to grilling on how long to cook your meat for as well as spices to season them up. I love this for so many reasons. Not only cause it's a massive pain in the ass to find a place that'll cook your steak right, but also, the communal nature of the grill pit makes the whole experience feel kinda like a neighborhood BBQ. Even without a drink in hand, the laidback atmosphere this feature creates is enough to make even the shyest introvert feel relaxed. Definitely recommend grabbing cocktails though. More so if your bartender looks like he chops down trees for a living. I can't remember his name his name for the life of me unfortunately. Just that he looks like a viking. If you're lucky enough to come in during his shift, make sure he's the one fixing your drink. Assuming, of course, he's not off on a raid somewhere in England. Speaking of recommendations, could someone please give Kyle a raise? I was blown away by how good her service was. Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and the restaurant, the amount of personality she brought would've made a burnt steak somehow acceptable. I've personally worked in food and beverage for over a decade now. I've seen for myself good servers, bad servers, and severs who remind me of used car salesmen. It's wonderfully refreshing to find someone who brings as much enthusiasm and passion to her job while still just being herself. Overall, the dining experience: A+. The food: A+. The service: A++. If you're looking for somewhere with great food, local, and a ton of personality, this is the place for you. Will definitely be back again soon! read more

My wife and I and our two kids ate here on 3/12/14. All of us are steak eaters and have been to many steak restaurants all over America. I've got good and bad things to say about this place. First the good: The steaks are very high quality and delicious, the salad bar is basic but well-stocked, and for entertainment purposes, my kids enjoyed grilling their steaks. The bad: there are so many outrageous hidden costs, that this place is no where near the bargain they claim. It is also old and dingy looking. The calamari appetizer, at $15.99 (there are no prices on the appetizer list) was more expensive than some of the steaks and ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CALAMARI ANYWHERE. The rubber rings came out of a frozen bag. I stated to the waitress after receiving the bill about how this charge should be told to the patrons before ordering, and she said she would tell the customers for now on. No other attempt of retribution was given. We left a third of the portion because they were tasteless. There is also a hidden charge for splitting a steak which isn't posted anywhere. The creamed spinach was sour. As a final note, there is a sign behind the butcher that posts prices of steaks at other restaurants and the additional foods received (because your steak at the Mint- if you don't share it- comes with a salad), which are all written with a "zippo." The owner obviously doesn't do his research because anyone who has dined at Bern's in Tampa (where I live) could tell you that your steak dinner comes with salad, soup, vegetables- not "zippo." read more

My first observation was the appalling smell, which could have only been coming from the porta-potty out side. Next our "Server" walked us to our table in the back of the barn, I could only have hoped to not have been stabbed by their local crowd of Hells Angels members and local crack addicts. We were then directed towards a Denny's-esque salad bar and told to "help our selves". Once our sad, wet salad was finished, we were dragged towards the pathetic display of four different types of overly priced cuts of meat. Once pressured into selecting one of the most expensive cuts it was time to stand and wait for a lukewarm grill to "cook" your meat. If you enjoy cooking at home with strangers in your kitchen for quadruple the price, then you'll love this part. The night wasn't a total disaster thanks to my culinary expertise and thoughtfulness to double the recommended cooking time. It was amazing how quickly a $28.00 dollar steak turned into a $47.00 dollar total thanks to a pricy side of fries and an overly generous 18% gratuity that was included in the bill, even though it took roughly 45 minutes for the waiter to BRING the check. The irony of the name is that you'll need to "Mint" your own money to pay your bill. If a less than 1 STAR RATING was possible the Mint would truly deserve it! read more

I really love this place! It's classic Colorado mountain vibe with an old style bar, wood floors, and in a historic building that was saved from the old town of Dillon that was flooded to make the Dillon Reservoir decades ago. The quality of the steaks is outstanding - you choose your steak from the butcher counter and then grill it up yourself on the nice hot grill. Utensils and spices/condiments give you what you need to grill up a steak just the way you want (I go for salt, garlic powder, and teriyaki sauce). The included salad bar is also a throwback, with pickled beets, crisp greens, old school salad dressing choices, and terrific croutons. Sides come from the kitchen and I love a baked potato with loads of butter, some steamed veggies, and maybe some mushrooms. The bar choices are perfect for the scene - wines by the glass, classic cocktails, beers both on tap and in bottles, and shots if you're so inclined (definitely great to hang out and hear the bartender's jokes after dinner!). Finally had a chance to come to The Historic Mint for dinner. Called ahead to get a setting for 15 people. We were done with our activities early and they were able to accommodate us no issue. The experience is great. Yes, the building is old, out dated and rustic. It's called the Historic Mint for a reason. It's refreshing to have a place like this still around and in Summit County. The food is spot on. The bartender didn't have champagne. The bartender did have a bottle left from an employee (Andrew) who recently passed away. He was gracious enough to share that bottle to with us. Kyle our waitress ( think that's how her name is spelled) was attentive and prompt. Kudos to her for being one of two wait staff in the place. Short staffed due to Covid and other issues. Overall, highly recommend this place. If you want 5star dining and modern cuisine this isn't for you. We come here whenever we are in the area for dinner. It just feels like an old saloon and in the middle (literally the middle) of modern eating joints it a nice change. It was a rather big deal for my friend to make the event, and it was only possible because of the graciousness of Hyde. We went with fish tacos and steak sandwich and loved both. There's a good amount of specialty drinks and beers to choose from. My favorite was the pretzels! Super soft and warm and a nice cheese dip to eat it with!
