We enjoyed the restaurant. Our server (forgot his name but he was from Louisiana) he took us step by step through their unique process to pick your exact slice of meat to cooking it. My family and I were the first ones in so the only "bad thing" was the grill was not at full temp so it took a little longer to cook my steak than I'm use too but I won't count that against them. read more

We were on Christmas vacation and I was looking forward to being served a really nice steak and wine for dinner. Unfortunately, (and this is my fault) I did not realize that at Mint, "you" are asked to cook your own steak. When on vacation, I have "0" interest in cooking. In particular over a hot open flame grill that is packed with people on all sides of me. But that is what happens here. I'll take ownership that I should've paid closer attention but we picked our own steaks and of course, I screwed up cooking them. Anyone who grills steaks knows their grill and how to use direct/indirect heat, etc... but here, I just didn't know with the altitude and most of the grill being direct heat, if things were going as I had hoped. Nice people, great service but if you are hoping to have someone 'serve you' a nice steak, realize you are the one doing the work. read more

It was a cool experience. Our waiter was very nice, it was a saturday night and we haven't been out in months due to covid. I visited this restaurant several times as a child but just returned as an adult with 2 kids. I was pleasantly surprised to find it exactly as I remembered it. They were short staffed just like everyone else these days, but I honestly wouldn't have know it based on the service. Josh and team were running around making sure everyone was taken care of. Josh was super friendly and welcoming to our young children. If you have kids, you know that going to a steakhouse is usually off limits. this was not for us - though clearly tons of people love it. Part of their thing is that you cook your steak yourself, which is hypothetically fine. But the grill is crowded and I got more grossed out by the moment as I watched people use the same utensils and teriyaki sauce brushes on both raw and cooked meat. The steak i cooked for myself was pretty good, but I've made better at home for half the price with much less stress. (Again, i seemed to be the only person stressed out by the crowd and utensils- so it may just not be for me.) The sides were shockingly gross for the price - we got 2 12 oz strip steaks, an order of broccoli, asparagus, and French fries for $110. The brocolli and asparagus tasted like rubber and butter and seemed to be straight out of the microwave. For that price point I would prefer to go to a steakhouse where someone makes my steak. Everyone was very nice - but this was not the date night my husband and I were looking for in silverthorne. I'd recommend cooking at home instead! read more

The Historic Mint is seriously the best deal in Summit County. Why? You can get unlimited salad bar AND a beautiful steak for only a few bucks more than three dry chicken tenders over at the ski hill. We ordered an 8oz bacon-wrapped Filet ($31.25), a 12oz dry-aged New York Strip ($29.99) and a 8oz New York Strip ($21.50). We also ordered a baked potato ($3.75) and a twice-baked potato ($4.95). Before we get to food, let's start with service... they were clearly short staffed as most places are post-covid. Despite this, our server, Katie, was funny and kind, and very attentive. Despite Katie also being our hostess and the "meat case person" - our service was great to excellent, we wouldn't have known they were short staffed. The meat was of excellent quality, as were the salad bar and potatoes. The prices, again compared to the hills and other restaurants, are great. This was a fantastic experience for us and our kids especially enjoyed cooking their own steaks. We will be back whenever we return to Summit County! read more

The ribeye steaks were big enough to eat for 2 meals. I am not much of a griller, so I was a bit worried how it would turn out, well it was perfect!!! And this was my birthday 10/12/21. The all you can eat salad bar and the cheese cake afterwards topped it off. I asked Travis to give us some history about this original building being moved 3 times. He was very knowledgeable. Throughout the meal Travis kept a watch on us to insure we wanted for nothing. We had a party of 9 visit for the first time and had a wonderful experience. Makayla was our server and made our evening exceptional. She explained the whole process to us and checked on us often. T Bone helped us pick our steaks our, explained the difference between the different cuts and listen to what was most important to everyone before making a suggestion. We had the best time grilling our steaks and toast (hint: sprinkle some garlic powder on your buttered bread before grilling it!) For sides we had veggies that we grilled, truffle fries (they were just ok) and twice baked potatoes (so good!). For dessert we all shared the Mint Potato and it was perfect! My family and I visited the mint last Sunday. We had such a great time. My boys 6 & 8 love to help cook their own steaks. Even though they were busy we had exceptional service and great food. When we left I forgot my purse on the back of my chair. I called Tom at the mint the following day. They were closed but he helped me figure out where my purse was and even found a way to get it to me in evergreen. They went above and beyond to help me get my purse back. I've never talked with more genuine people. They've been very busy lately and have been understaffed due to Covid. My advice is have patience with all service industry in this crazy time. This place is something else. A cook your own steak steak house. Totally worth the experience if you're in town at the resorts. Not a fine dining experience, but a perfect place to take a big group for an awesome meal. Our steaks were delicious, they provided instructions for those folks not used to cooking, and the salad bar and sides were delish. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice night out- a really delicious option with tons of flare. Totally unique and really a fun spot. The salad bar was delicious, all of the toppings were super fresh, the salad mix was really fresh, ANB have bread with butter that you can go over the grill and toast. Some of the items didn't look extremely fresh. The sauce beside the grill concerned me a bit. It's just open for everyone to brush on their raw meat and dip over and over again - seems a bit risky as far as contamination. The meat was a good cut - we had the filet. The baked potato wasn't fresh and didn't even melt the butter. Overall it was just okay - I don't know that we would return. read more
