The on-line service is a disaster after ordering a refrigerator the order was back ordered, then misplaced. I had to contact the distributor myself and locate the product for them. Then it required contacting Home Depot twice to get them to process the order. As a concession they offered a discount then dropped the amount after they finally delivered it two weeks late. Just to be clear if it not in the store better to go elsewhere for the product. read more

They seem to be on their toes now to get you the help you need right away so you don't waste time - they do this with a lady at the entrance that asks you what you came for then she radios it in, nice touch. I've recently remodeled two homes and this HD has been great! Generally there are plenty of people to help - sometimes I have to search for an employee but I always find one. I recently needed rush carpet installed. Their measuring guy had car issues which delayed my project one day. Andi (sp?) was exceptional and stayed on top of my order to ensure I had the carpet installed on time. The installers were also good at calling me to verify what I wanted in certain areas since I wasn't onsite myself. While I'm looking forward to being at HD less in the future, I know I will always get good service and find what I need. read more

Same product, same price on both amazon and the home depot website? I figured hey, why not support a brick and mortar store, since amazon seems to be dominating everyone these days. They aren't hurting for business. Last time I'll make that mistake. I could have had that jigsaw delivered straight to my door a week ago, but no, I decided that since I seem to be in this place at least once/week for something, it won't take up any time to just pick it up there. I forgot that no one's concerned about the amount of effort the employees here make, so if there are six of them in the customer service bullpin, only two need to be actually working, while the other four get to sit around and shoot the shit. 30 minutes later I got my jigsaw. We ordered a grill online and I called to see when it would be assembled. and it took almost 5 days to get it assembled. They told me they would call me when it was ready. Fast forward 5 days, no call. I called them and they told me we were still not on the list to have our grill assembled but they would fix that and to check back later in the day. We called later and no one seemed to know who to transfer us to on the phone and we ended up getting transferred between departments, including someone who works in the Ontario Home Depot. I mean it's just a grill...I guess there's a first time for everything? When it was finally ready (again we had to call them), we went to pick it up but it was obviously incomplete. We had to be the one to point this out to them and initially they didn't believe us. So we spent another 20 minutes waiting for them to find a complete grill. Then we were sent to the propane kiosk on the other side of the property, which was out of order. At which point they had to figure out who knew how to get us another tank so we could use this grill when we eventually got home. Overall it was a very frustrating experience and we won't be back. There's plenty of places to choose from in the area, and I wouldn't recommend using this one. read more

Excellent store with very helpful staff marred by their dog policy. And unfortunate trend over the last 10 years or so has been the dogifying of America and Home Depot shows the worst of this trend. I've seen dogs over 70-80 pounds in there. No I don't want your dog to slobber on me. No I don't want to have them push into me. No I don't want to see someone, especially a child, get bit by one. We bought a refrigerator and the delivery service used by Home Depot was unprofessional and unsatisfactory. The delivery men changed the handles to the opposite sides of the doors as requested but left the door so that it does not seal properly, the cold air leaks out and the motor runs constantly. I called the problem phone number given me by Home Depot and their solution is to send someone out in another 7 days, from the same delivery company. Home Depot needs to do business with a more competent delivery service before I can recommend buying an appliance from them. read more

What a horrible experience today at my local Home Depot. Management "decided" to allow the paving company to do work on a SUNDAY! Blocked entrance, parking lanes blocked which forced many customers to do a 5 pt turn to look for other parking...a total mess that could have been avoided. I let him know of something I was thinking of making, he convinced me of a better way, walked me clear across the store to get the item, cut it down to size for me, got some remnant wood for me and cut that down to size as well... This review is for the kitchen design department, as well as Andrew Lauren the company they sub their counter top work to, and also new life construction the company they sub their cabinet installation to. I was planing on doing my kitchen over so I went to a couple surrounding HD locations. Encinitas was the first one I went to where an employee actually asked us if we needed any help. We sat down and designed a kitchen. Then had someone from New Life construction come measure it......and then do a final measure so we could get an accurate quote for install. The employee from New Life struck me as condescending until I told him I was an electrician and under stood more than he realized. The quote they gave us was pretty outrageous. We actually saved $6,000 by not going with New Life for the install. Andrew Lauren was a nightmare to work with. Read some of their reviews. It will paint a nice picture for you. They told me they couldn't make the counter tops HD designed....at first. Then told us they could build the counters but they would need steel supports for an extra$300. Then they told us no steel was needed but we still had to pay $300 for slightly thicker plywood in one waterfall area for added strength. Didn't make sense to me to pay that much for plywood. so I argued with them and they said they would wave the fee. They didn't even use plywood where they said they were going to when they installed. So idk why they made such a big deal over this water fall area then try to get $300 out of me for nothing. Not to mention whenever I called Andrew Lauren the office people didn't know what was going on and couldn't answer simple questions. They also changed my install date after they confirmed with me, didn't even give me a call to let me know, I took that day off of work, and scheduled other work to be done around the install date they told me originally. They did talk to management and had it changed back to original date. Everything with this company is a struggle though. It's a constant argument. Now HD .....Ray did a great job designing the kitchen. He seems to enjoy his job and put a lot of effort into it and time. As for the ordering department......my cabinet order got screwed up. When we finally got the right cabinets we were still missing trim pieces. I have to call to check on orders HD doesn't call me when they come in. It's been a long 6 month ordeal from start to finish. Knowing what I know now I wouldn't go through Home Depot again. If they used different sub contractors I might consider it. My advice......if you go through Home Depot have a lot of patients find out who the sub contractors are. If it is New Life construction I bet they do a good job but you will pay A LOT. If it's Andrew Lauren.......walk away. You will thank me. read more

I went in today, with my dishwasher rack, and manual/model number, just needing advice on what the part was that I needed to replace. I waited 30 minutes for the one person in the department, then an associate walked up, asking if I needed help. When I told him I only needed advice on a part, he said, he had no idea, gave me a card to go to online saying there are hundreds of dishwashers/mine a KitchenAid from Home Depot. Although this is not a good review, I should preface that it is by no means the fault of the employees there. The entrance to the lot and the parking lot themselves are very difficult to navigate through. Not only are spaces too small(which should not be the case for a hardware store whose costumers often drive pick-ups), but I have never seen this lot not be busy. There are also many Mexican workers looking for freelance gigs around here. This may be good or bad news, depending on who yo are, I suppose. The store always seems to be understaffed, although they are very courteous and work hard to satisfy the customers' needs when they can actually get around to it. He was responsive, had great follow up, and resolved a measuring issue for us quickly. His expertise in knowing and more importantly owing the process was wonderful. He truly cared and it showed. I came into the store this past Saturday basically knowing nothing about lumber. I was staring at the 2x4's when John from lumber approached me. He offered me some of the best customer service I have ever experienced at a retail store. Not only is he knowledgable about lumber, but he also made me feel like my "DIY bench project" was totally achievable. He gave me advice on how to build it, what steps to take to stain and waterproof, and what I should *not* do in my first ever carpentry project. BEWARE- Don't order anything for delivery. They gave us a 6am - 8pm delivery window. Waited all day, but they never showed up. At 7:15pm, our order status was mysteriously marked "delivered", but it definitely had not been. We first called the 800 number, because we had placed the order online. They just told us to call the store. After being on hold for another 30m, they told us delivery was handled by someone else and to call them. Tried to call the weird number they had me write down, located in Georgia, but nobody would pick up. Called the store again but the phone just rang and rang and rang. So, I called the 800 number again starting to freak out (but nicely) because I seriously felt robbed, who re-routed me to the store for another time. All in all I was on the phone trying to get to someone for a couple hours. Guess what? The lady I finally spoke with SAID MY ORDER WAS RIGHT THERE IN THE STORE THE WHOLE TIME AND HAD NEVER LEFT. Marked as delivered! I understand that the delivery is handled by another party, but not the whole process. A massive bureaucracy with no ownership. I wasted a huge amount of time on this. Standing at the service desk for 13 minutes and counting. I need help because the app says 15 in stock, but no location on map. The associate, Dylan, said there were others ahead of me and proceeded to move to the return desk where he helped everyone in line and everyone who walked in afterwards. When he and the other two employees were no longer busy, he proceeded to move some items around in front of the return desk and when he walked back behind the desk, l asked "Will you be able to help me now?" Not aggravated yet, no harsh tone to my voice. I was the only person at the service desk the whole time. Once I showed him the item on the HD app, he stated he could not help me and he would have to get someone in lighting. Dylan's tone was sharp and he seemed irritated that I even asked. Hi Chris, I am still waiting for my carpet from Home Depot for 7wks +... (Anyone who wants to take a tour of our furniture-less home, and the living condition, we'll give you the tour personally. Or, you will be able to view on YouTube and Facebook soon.) 1.I PURCHASED MY CARPET ON 7/5/12, PAID IN FULL. (You still have my money, but 7weeks+, I still don't have the carpet.) 2.A few days later, I went back to make sure they can install the way I wanted. (the 1st choice carpet has a pattern and I wanted the pattern to go horizontal way in my living room and dinning room.) The flooring staff called the manufacturing company and assured of my choice layout. 3. I was still worried about the layout, so I decided to go back (5 days later of my purchase) to the store and talked to the manager (Jeff), and he assured me to take care of the carpet issues. I was finally satisfied and content to get the managers' involvement on this. 4. 3 weeks later, I get a call from the flooring guy (Melvin), and says Home Depot can't install the carpet the way I wanted the pattern to run. I asked him, "Why you tell me, after 3 weeks? After I went to the store twice to make sure I get the carpet and be assured, and now you say you can't?" Well, Melvin used choice words that were condescending, aloof, and demanding. His comments were above-all-attitude. I asked him to tell the store manager to call me. Then, Darren(not the store manager) called me and asked him to come to my home and see my living condition waiting for my carpet to arrive, with Home Depot's promise to deliver my carpet in 3-4 weeks. 5. Darren came and I had no choice but to select another one. So, I gave him my 2nd choice carpet and asked that my carpet to be expedited ASAP. Later, I was offered to get a temp carpet, and I agreed. Got a smell bad temp carpet installed but it was better than sleeping on a concrete floor with a matress on it. Still all my furniture are in my garage, except my mattress on the floor and a 12"x12" table to eat on. (FYI: Home Depot doesn't move furniture that are assembled and antique,and that's most of my furniture, so I hired people to move our furniture to the garage, ready for our carpet. So, twice, I have to pay for the furniture moving.) So, I anxiously waited for my 2nd choice carpet. 6. Meanwhile, my out of town guests came as planned (I was so sure that my carpet will be installed after 5 weeks of the purchase.) and slept on the furniture-less floor, using bathroom full of out of closet "stuff". Then, another guest came and slept on my bare floor. They were appalled at the story of Home Depot carpet saga. 7. I didn't hear from Home Depot on my carpet status, so I asked my son to call Darren/Home Depot. Didn't get a call back for 3 days, but got a call from Home Depot's contracting carpet installer, saying my carpet is in! BUT CAN'T INSTALL TILL SEPT. 9, 2012.(THAT OVER 8 WEEKS OF WAITING!) Mind you, I didn't get a call from Home Depot to inform me that our carpet is coming. I told the carpet installer to call Home Depot and talk to the manager. I can't wait over 8 week, knowing my carpet has arrived IN TOWN. Then get a call back from, again, the installer, NOT THE HOME DEPOT manager, saying they can install this week. I told them they can install today. 8. AS THE CARPET WAS INSTALLED, I FOUND OUT that THE CARPET HAS MAJOR FLAWS IN COLORS AND SHOWS UP EVERY SEAMS! They have different shades, visible even without my glasses! The carpet installers were also seemed to be stunned with such obvious color differences. I called and left message to the store manager to call me back. (as always, you never get them when you call...) Then, a manager from the carpet installer came later, and he took several pictures of the color differences at various seams. 9. Then, I get a call from a staff from the carpet installer's office today(8/22/12), saying she'll be handling my case and I was to contact her if any comments. I ASSUME NO ONE FROM THE HOME DEPOT TO FACE MY FRUSTRATIONS, SINCE THE HOME DEPOT IS THE ONE WHO MESS UP MY ORDERS? I told the installer's staff that Home Depot's manager has to come to our home and see the carpet and see the living condition. As of today, he never came and have seen the floor and the living condition. Later, I was told that Darren will be coming to my home this Saturday, 8/25/12. 10. The carpet seams are much worse now, at night, visible everywhere. Question: What's the Home Depot's plan E, F, G plans if next carpet does have another similar flaws or other problems, AFTER OVER 8 WEEKS OF WAITING FOR OUR CARPET BE INSTALLED? I did NOTHING to deserve this headache and frustrations. I ordered my selected carpet and paid in full! Home Depot made a mistake, after a mistake. She said his name is Adam, and he's been there for over 11 years.. well, he helped my wife and son with a project for school. My son being 9 years old had an idea of what he wanted and didn't know how to execute it. If I could choose no star I would. Home Depot referred New Life Construction contractors to remodel our bathroom that is the size of a small closet. The bathroom project started two months ago and barely any progress has been made AT ALL. Chris the contractor has been nothing but problems and inconvenience not measuring things right, & ordering things wrong that had been picked out and discussed prior.The bathroom that is the size of a small closet is costing us $17,000 and has taken 2 months and is currently in no condition even close to being done. Not to mention they take days and days off in between doing one little thing and then leaving for days. NOTHING GETS DONE! Theres different people in our house constantly and Home Depot has been anything but helpful. It has been a nightmare. We wonder if the bathroom will ever be finished. The product I purchased is in the store and plenty in stock. I am extremely disappointed and I would not recommend getting your flooring from Home Depot. They take your money and give you horrible service. Well service had only gotten worse. My flooring job started and Home Depot installers are not capable of finishing because they are not able to remove existing laminate .
