I'd give zero if I could. Was shopping to buy trim for my doorway at 11:30am today. Worker asked if I needed help and replied no thanks taking my time. One minute later he comes and says I need to leave the aisle so they can stock and closed the aisle with red gates with me in between. Shouldn't you be stocking outside of prime time on a busy Sunday? Left trim at front register since I only had half of what I needed and went to Menard's. What a waste of my time. read more

I purchased a patio set (Oakland Living) from Home Depot and within 18 months the coating on the chairs and table started flaking off in large strips causing the metal to rust. In some areas the coating was coming off in 2 foot long strips. This was happening on every piece of the 9 piece set. You can see if bubbling up in areas and then it just flakes off. We covered the set in the winter so it was only exposed to the elements from spring to fall. We have a small table and chairs that we bought from Home Depot in the front of the house and it still looks good after 12 years. This poor review is more for Home Depot Corporate then the individual store. The manager in the Glen was very nice and came out to inspect the set. He said it definitely had an issue but since it was past their return period there was nothing he could do. If it wasn't for the store manager I would have given a lower rating. He referred me to Home Depots customer service and they stalled me for 4 months and gave me the run around. When I threatened to go to the Better Business Bureau she took it to the next level person there. I never spoke with her but left her numerous messages that she never returned. I tried to get them to send someone out to look at the set and they refused. In the end she offered me 10% off a new set. I'm not looking to replace my patio set every two years so I refused. Needless to say that after 15 years of doing all of our home improvement, appliance purchases, garden supplies purchases from them, we have stopped. I purchased an Amana dishwisher here, based on the warranty to "if we can't fix it, we'll replace it. I've only had it for a year, and it stopped cleaning. The warranty service provider (Diamond in Bartlett IL) is AWEFUL, but Home Depot hasn't done a thing to keep that promise of replacing it. Please read more about that experience on yelp. I don't usually write reviews on chains or stores like home depot, but I am getting increasingly frustrated with this particular location. All I went to buy yesterday was a shelf and it took until the fourth person helping me to realize that the only one they had left had a chip in it. The last thing I bought here were shades and it took three Home Depots (starting and ending with this location) plus a Menard's to finally get what I needed. Lowe's is soon opening down the street and you better believe I am going to try it out. I don't hate HD, but its getting ridiculous that I have to make multiple trips to get a single item. read more

Bought a dishwasher here and had used the home depot installers. Had to hire a lic. plumber to re-install it. Still leaks. can't get antone to follow up. Tried to buy granite counters, was told Margaret would call about pricing---never did. tried to buy a freezer for my garage was told Margaret again would check to see what extra part was needed to install in garage. She called once to say she still didnt have the answer but would call whan she did...that was a month ago. for appliances go to ABT, that is who they said they learned about the extra part for the freezer. The paint dept is helpful, as long as no one has to call you back. Glad I dumped my HD stock. read more

This store is the most local to me and the one I go to consistently. I find the employees at the front end of this store to be extremely helpful for questions on product availability and overall friendliness. I recently had a more in-depth issue with a completed sale and Adrienne, the front end supervisor, really took the issue to heart and got me help. Whether you're in the garden center, building materials, electrical or plumbing, I find the employees very helpful. The store may not always have the largest selection as it has a smaller footprint, but I rarely have to go to the Deerfield location for anything. Being able to walk in and out quickly is one of the best things about this location and I never see anything out of stock! read more

After 27 years of living with a 1960's kitchen it's a good idea to take action but we had not much of a clue and lot's of expensive "professional" advice available, most of which we paid for and found pretty much useless as a practical matter. We knew there were numerous folks with their hands out in the design area but were surprised how incompetent and formulaic many really are. Then we were referred to Don Deluca at the Glenview Home Depot, where we just left after the purchase of kitchen cabinets. But this was after 6 different designs Don insisted on providing us in five visits over two weeks. Don was not only methodical, he actually slowed us down when we were about to buy designs he thought not good enough. He was also wildly helpful in every one of the myriad decisions involved. I frankly expected this kind of service at the North Shore design firms we looked at (and as I said paid for). We absolutely did not expect anything like Don's help at a Home Depot. But Don is providing our contractor with detailed drawings and us with a complete feeling that we made the right decision to deal with him and Home Depot. read more

I went to Home Depot to by a 10' piece of aluminum gutter. I had seen employees cut this for customers. I asked an associate if he could cut it for me and he told me "cut it yourself". He gave me the wrong isle. After I found the station for cutting it was for wood pieces. I had to get a hacksaw and hammer and nails to stabilize the mitre box. No one offered any help even though I was there 25 minutes. Totally unfriendly and not helpful at all. I've shopped there since it opened. Will not go back there again. I don't like shopping but sometimes I have to, I want today to Home Depot at Glenview location what it surprised me. When I was checking out in self paid machine, lady came and start helping me and offer to bring a shopping card, since I did not have any. I said thank you, I am fine. She repeated, are you sure. I answered, yes. Then I guy stopped by and told me, by the way if you buy two of thes product it will be the same price, so you can safe some money. I told him I checked it already and it is no difference in price. He said, please wait and I will bring two for you. He was right, when he came back with them, the price was much chipper. Horrible experience. Had plumbing to do so I needed to ask the associate about the right washer. Took fifteen minutes to hail one of these down (most of them were standing around in the aisles having conversations). Associate who finally was hailed was Russian, spoke little to no English, ignored everything I said. He walks over to a washer rack that was empty and says without checking "we are out of part." Walks away without comment. It turned out the part was there but it took me another twenty minutes to find it. I then asked another associate fro plumber's grease. Of course, she didn't know so she summons aforementioned Russian. "What kind of plumber's grease you want?" he says Me: "any kind." "Adhesive?" Me: no plumber's grease." Hands me adhesive and then walks away cursing me in Russian. Finally at the register I couldn't check out because nothing was marked. Of course check person once she could be persuaded to end her conversation with another associate had no idea about what the part was. She walks off with another associate and returns with a different part entirely. I asked to see the store manager and the kid pretended to try and summon him, then hung up the phone and walked off. This must be the worst run store in America. All of these positive reviews are obviously fabricated. DO NOT SHOP HERE EVER. Staff can barely speak English by and large, have zero product knowledge universally, and would share it with you if they had. Just awful. I do not as a rule complain but I was in there over an hour in the middle of the afternoon when the store was mostly empty. Better off laying every single worker off. It would beat the "service" I received. read more

This Home Depot is right by work, so it is really convenient when I need to run in and out quickly. I had to get some keys made, and I was able to get service right away and get out in about 5 minutes. The store is well organized and I haven't had any issues with staff or not being able to find anything. read more

Home Depot - NOT the place to go for your flooring needs. We made an appointment to get an estimate to install hardwood flooring in our condo. We made is very clear that we only had a 2-hour window to schedule the estimate. The day before the appointment, I got a call confirming a time totally outside the 2-hour time slot. When I informed the estimator that this time would not work for me, his main concern was not to accommodate my needs, but accommodating his schedule. In other words, he did not want to be inconvenienced. Home Depot shows time and time again that customer service is the last thing that care about. A woman called later and told me the estimator could come out the next day. Again, I had to explain our situation - that we only had a 2-hour time slot. Suffice it to say, Home Depot NEVER came out. This company will surely not make it. Putting your customers LAST does not show good business sense. We went to LUNA and they provided us with the service we needed. read more

I needed to do something simple - get a key made. Home Depot used their computerized system to make a copy of my key, and when I got home, it didn't work. Frustrated, I went back with a different original key, and explained the problem. The Home Depot customer service person told me it was probably a problem with my first original having gotten worn down, and she made two new ones off of an entirely different original. I got home, and those didn't work either. I went to my local Ace, they cut the key in about 2 minutes, I got home and they worked no problem. Home Depot is fine (and probably a little cheaper) if you know exactly what you want and don't need to rely on the customer service aspect. This would have been zero stars if it wasn't for Ebony at the glenview store. We came in to the store and ordered 1k+ worth of custom blinds and the guy that helped us couldn't have been any less helpful. He didn't bother to ask us if we wanted someone to install or offer up the installation promo instead he just proceeded to fill out whatever he was asked in the computer without guiding us on what type of measurements were needed for bay windows. Needless to say the windows all came short and the valances too wide. We were at a loss and frustrated with the entire process and took us hours and hours of calling Home Depot for Help. It wasn't until Ebony took our case and she took charge of the situation and helped us every step of the way. The whole process lasted for months and I have to admit it was painful. The installers had to come to our house twice because even they had their own set of issues. Nevertheless, Ebony was always listening and was truly on our side and made sure they finally got it right. 5 stars for Ebony. My husband and I would have completely stopped shopping at Home Depot because of our experience but Ebony turned it around. Thank you! read more

Came in here while in the middle of a DIY renovation. I had watched videos online, written down everything that I needed, and journeyed to Home Depot with not a clue how to find anything and let's be honest, not a clue about what I was doing. DJ met me in an aisle, asked me if I needed any help, and then walked me around the entire store item-by-item. He spent an hour with me and by the end of my shopping trip I was bouncing with joy. He was a huge help, very kind, and personable. He was honest and never tried to oversell me on anything, I think he was actually trying to find the best deal for me. My husband was trying to buy some blinds here. The kind he wanted were sold out but the Deerfield location had them. My husband was going to drive to Deerfield to get them. They were on clearance but not at the DF store so in order for my husband to get the clearance price, they were going to transfer them to the Glenview store. They were supposed to call us. Contrary to the other reviews, the guys in the tool department we're not helpful at all. I went in for a specific item after I had done a inventory check online showing 11 pcs in stock. In the tools department; I tried to get the guy to help me; but he was very short with me and said that they didn't have that. I asked him to check the SKU (as I had it with me) and he said that it doesn't matter; what is out on the shelf is what they have. I said okay and proceeded to customer service; where the lady ran the SKU and confirmed that they did have 11 in stock. She called down to the tool department and they were still reluctant to help; she actually had to get strong on the phone with them and they said that they'd look. 5 mins later the guy walks the tool to me while I was waiting at customer service. They may be helpful, but they people that work the tool department are selective on who they help. From the other reviews that got good service; I'm thinking it might be demographic. So if you fit the demographic they are looking for, go there; as clearly they will help you. If you don't; good luck! read more

This review is for the Glenview Home Depot. I just wanted to thank Tom V. for his help in my weekend toilet crisis. My toilet flapper thingy (clearly I'm not a professional) was leaking and causing continuous flushing of my toilet. I initially planned to call a professional plumber, but on a weekend for an emergency, I knew the cost would be high. My sister suggested taking a picture and bringing it to Home Depot and seeing if there was an easy fix. I did this and Tommy was great. He showed me what I needed and even installed the new system for "free.99". I was able to fix my toilet for about $30 instead of $300. Thanks, Tommy! read more

I purchased a GE high efficiency washer and dryer in 2007 from Home Depot. I have had nothing but problems. I havae an extended warranty and it takes months to get a repair. The service centers do not update information about phone numbers to call , we have multiple family members who have to take time off to wait on service repair. Repair men ring bell once, but neglect to call, robo calls cancel the service call. Call centers don't accurately communicate with G.E.. This nightmare has been going on twice a week for over one month. Never ever buy G.E. or take their service contract that is connected with Home Depot. read more

Warning!! I went to the HomeDepot in Glenview as I am a Glenview resident and like to give business to our town when possible. I ordered what I thought was a simple tile job for our bathroom and they really made it a scheduling and communications mess. They simply are not able to schedule these projects properly and broke down in communications with me and the scheduling company. They use different tradesmen but the tradesmen have no way to communicate which makes any installation job unreasonably complicated. The problems I experienced are too numerous to list but I write this a warning to my neighbors. Other then carpeting installation, do not hire them for installation projects or you will be shocked at what happens. Too bad form them because I have about $35,000 worth of additional projects which are not headed their way. read more

I have called their number 6 times trying to get through to someone in kitchens. I first get an automated attendant, then when I chose kitchens, the system transfers me, the line rings and then click, I get silence and then a busy signal. I tried at least 5 times, so finally I hit zero for the operator and what a surprise, I get a busy signal there, too. No way to get through to these folks. In today's economic times, I have great doubts that they are that busy. But, do they even know that their phone system does not work properly? I cannot imagine that I am the first one to have this problem. read more

I bought a snow blower couple of weeks ago, they assembled it for me and i picked it up couple days later. everything was smooth until now. when i started the mechine it wont go straight and the auger is always on. since then i called home depot about 8 time, either they say they will call me back or manager is not available and i was disconnected few times.
