I have spent probably over 100k at home depots and that ends until they fix this problem. I picked 2 pieces of wood off the clearance rack of damaged wood but one didn't have the purple paint identifying it being discounted. I asked the employee to mark it and he said after he's done putting away some lumber. After 5 min he comes over and sprays the piece of wood purple then takes the other piece off my cart and says he can't sell me that piece, that it's not supposed to be discounted, eventhough both ends of the wood are painted purple. He told me that it is a 4 foot piece of maple so it's pretty pricey. First he tells me they cant ring it up so I tell him I have bought many pieces discounted at this store just like this premium lumber... then he tells me he can sand the paint off the ends and I tell him the ends will be thinner and people wouldn't want that... He then tells me he would chop off both ends and sell it as a shorter piece. So I tell him, "Shouldnt you honor that it's discounted and already in my cart already?!" He responds by saying that he should "throw it away" and the vendors will credit him for the piece of wood rather than sell it to me! After going back and forth, telling him I would plane the wood, use every piece of the wood, and not waste it, pleaded with him to sell it to me, he agreed. It's no wonder I always see tons of lumber out back to be thrown out when it could actually be used by someone like me to build things or donated to the city to build something useful or provide shelters for the homeless. And the installer would contact me promptly. No call as of two days later. Called and they said it was an issue with payment. NO ONE EVER REACHED OUT TO ME TO TELL ME THIS. and it's a credit card through them. Then magically I get a text from the installer stating they are ready to install BUT the carpet I picked wasn't in stock. I picked it originally based on what was available. This guy was walking by and we ask if someone was working in the department and he put up his hand like he would be back. We waited a while and nothing. I saw Joseph walking by and asked if he could help us. He found us the exact items we where looking for and helped with the universal part to make sure it worked for our grill. All Home Depots are there to do the same thing, get you what you need to get the job done. Some do a better job than others; this is one of the better ones. I went there looking for a weed wacker and had no idea where to go. Luckily there was a door greeter there who was actively looking to help that knew where it was. I overheard him help other people and I'm sure he'll help you too. I will say that the duplicate keys are overpriced. You're better off going to one of those key machines at Walmart if you just want a plain old key without any design on it, but Home Depot does have a much broader selection of key designs than elsewhere. There is never enough carts, there's never anyone around to help, if you do find an employee they can't help because they're too busy laughing and talking to their co workers. Every employee I found said it's not my Dept so just wait and I'll call for someone to help you. No one came and I waited for 45 minutes. Even if they don't have it in stock they will order for you and will be shipped to your house. Recently I made a floor tile purchase, and Irma was super helpful and pleasant with our huge purchase. Service and Big Box places can be hit or miss, but today I have to take a moment to recognize the wonderful service I received at Home Depot, Upland, on Mountain from Tony. "Little Tony" in plumbing, or at least that is where I was at. I went in with a list from my contractor, I was trying to save them time and keep them working on task, but was having trouble finding what we needed. Tony walked by and asked if I needed help, so I showed him my list and a few pictures. He quickly began helping me pick the items I needed. He saw I had a list and did not ditch me after the first item. He helped me all the way down the list, till I was ready to go check out. He provided the type of service I usually only get at the smaller, local hardware store. Tony probably saved me 30 minutes of searching. I'll start off by saying this is an average home depot with similar products that you find at others. I came for a certain product, found it, and bought it. This review focused on customer service. TERRIBLE. The indifference of almost all of the employees my mother and myself encountered there to customers was unacceptable and in a couple cases crossed the line to just plain rude. 90 % of the employees there were huddled in groups of 2 or 3 throughout the store talking about their personal lives and things of the nature... which I dont mind IF they would look up and help customers first. The worst example of this was in the carpet section... my mom approached 3 gentlemen who were previously huddled talking. I then walked up as they proceeded to be less than helpful, almost condescending to my mom, who like a lot of people, have no clue about products for home repairs. I helped to clarify and before we even walked away, one of the men, Eddy, says very loudly to the other 2 men, while we were still standing there, "SOOO AAAANYWAY.... know anyone who would be interested in.." and continued having his conversation. When i found what I was looking for after being directed to the wrong aisle, the employee told us it would be a while because he had to go find a ladder so to continue shopping elsewhere. Since we weren't there for anything else we looked at the plants, walked a couple aisles, and came back to find him on a ladder carrying on with (surprise!) friendly conversation with surrounding workers while our product sat on the shelf. I would believe it if someone told me it was everyone's first day and no management was present, which is still unacceptable. Even though I found the product I wanted, I would rate this a negative trip for sure. Honorable mention to the two employees exempt from this review: the friendly gentlemen in a wheel chair that greeted us put a smile on my face and seemed eager to point us in the right direction, and vickie, at self checkout, who was warm and helpful as we prepared to leave. read more

To: Mr. Craig Menear Chairman and CEO My name is Calvin Lawton, my wife and I went to home depot last year an bought a new refrigerator from your store in Upland CA. It was a GE refrigerator which we had previously owned, a GE for over thirty years, we decided to buy another GE refrigerator which seemed to be a great idea, since we had a good experience with GE and their products, but more importantly we bought it at Home Depot. The date was March fifteenth two thousand nineteen, we spent two thousand sixteen dollars and twenty-eight cent. My wife and I are very disappointed with the service we have encountered with home depot, and Asurion insurance an extended warranty through your company. We have tried everything within reason to resolve this situation which we have no control over. In July of two thousand and twenty our refrigerator encountered a problem, we called home depot and they gave us a number to call which was Asurion insurance they were very receptive. The company who came out was Mr. Appliance in Rancho Cucamonga, their service was impeccable. The refrigerator was freezing fruits, vegetables, eggs, lettuce, and all milk and juice products. The first technician was very courteous and followed the pandemic protocol. Then two months later we encountered our freezer over freezing, which the freezer is at the bottom of the refrigerator had to be cleaned daily, because with ice was frosting over the sides of the pull-out drawer. We then called Asurion Insurance again, but our treatment was a lot different, we were told we couldn't use the same company Mr. Appliance for they weren't apart of their contract anymore. I expressed that wasn't true for I had called Mr. Appliance first and they expressed they were still under contract with home depot and Asurion Insurance, my wife and I were happy with the service we received and wanted the same company to come out for if I couldn't be home, I wouldn't be worried about my wife being alone with a worker we didn't know. I did not appreciate the person on the phone trying to make excuses for us wanting to receive service from someone who had already proven themselves to care for their customers. Since this person possibly didn't know her job, I asked to speak to a supervisor and she told me to hold on which I did for an hour and fifteen minutes. When a so-called supervisor finally answered they apologized for the long wait, and asked me to hold on then I waited another fifteen minutes then I was disconnected without any return call. The next day I called back to make an appointment to get my refrigerator repaired, that was at the end of August when I made the call and instead of calling me and telling me they had made an appointment for us I did receive a text message to call Mr. Appliance which we did and our freezer was repaired on September 14, 2020. We figured we were finished with getting our refrigerator repaired, but once again we had to ask for another repair for the freezer was over freezing once again. When I called again it took two weeks more before we were serviced, later I asked if it was possible to have the refrigerator replaced, but when I talked to Asurion Insurance they told me that they weren't allowed to make that decision and that's why we had an extended warranty. I expressed regret that something we paid the full price for we expected a better response than we were receiving from Asurion, which is the Insurance that was referred for the extension of our warranty. Then I called Home Depot of Upland, California where we bought this refrigerator, I asked to speak to the sales person that sold us the appliance's, we bought that day in March of 2019, his name was Jim a very helpful and patience when helping us last year. But he said there was nothing he could do; he did tell me to call and speak to the manager of the store which I did. The first person I spoke to stated her name was Adriana and she would have her manager call me back before the end of the day. I waited until 6:45 P.M. and spoke with the manager and she said, we don't give exchanges or allow you to get a new appliance that's why you have an extended warranty, I then asked what does it take to replace this appliance since it's only 18 months old. Ms. Carolina, stated it wasn't her problem and Asurion should handle your problem. Though I was disappointed with the help I wasn't receiving I kept plugging away, this gets worse we call Asurion back to see if they could make the decision to give us a refund or allow us to exchange our refrigerator. So now Asurion tells us that we have to be repaired three times for the same problem before they would even consider giving us a new refrigerator or an exchange, at the mean time they sent out Mr. Appliance and when this gentleman came out, he was very cavalier and not what I was looking for in the type of service we had received previously twice before when we were serviced by a young man named Brock. The plumbing section of this Home Depot is what dreams are made of.. An amazing assortment of toilets, pipes, water hoses and faucets to choose from. I bought the Kohler elongated one piece toilet from Home Depot last year. If you aren't a toilet fanatic like me, you probably don't know much about it. It is the Bentley of all toilets, its a one piece toilet with a lower seat and reverse rotating flush. Its is the most expensive toilet at Home Depot, and I came looking for another one while visiting a friend in Upland. This is an older store and the selection is not bad, however I felt like I was in the Twilight zone. There were no sales associates in sight to help me with my toilet needs. It really felt crappy with no one to help me with the toilets (no pun intended!) There were plenty of people up in the front of the store, but the layout is a bit weird of this store. I love everything about this place! I knew it was a good sign when I pulled into the lot and it appeared to be full. Upon further observation, half of the parking spots were taken up by empty carts of flatbeds, left unattended either by employees or customers who couldn't be bothered to put them in the appropriate cart stalls. Okay, that actually counts as a negative and foreshadowing of things to come. Next, I struck by how uncrowded the place was. It was great! Up until the point when discovered that it was so uncrowded that I couldn't find an employee to help me find what I was looking for and to answer a few simple questions. Fortunately, I was able to locate my item on my own. If you actually need the help of an employee here, you're screwed. Another negative. Finally, I make it to the cashier stand. This was the only positive thing I encountered here. The cashier was friendly and professional, and seemed to actually care about how my shopping experience went. I didn't feel like telling her the truth, so I said that everything was fine. Placed and paid for an order at the North Upland location for a will call at this location on 5/7/2018. When my contractor went to this store he was told their system was down and they could not see my order. This location suggested that I call North Upland and have them call them (Upland location). My response was "I think you should call them, so you can verify that I did pay for it" to which they did, they claimed they couldn't get ahold of anyone. I told my contractor to leave and I called the North Upland location and got right through to Tina and explained what was going on. Tina at (North Upland) and I agreed that I would give my contractor my receipt and my will call claim check to go back to this location and pick up my order. Tina called this store and told them what we were going to do. This store refused to release my order, even though they would have proof that I did pay for the product at the North Upland location and had a receipt to verify my purchase (due to their system being down). I was told that my contractor needed to come back on 5/8/2018 - when their system was back up and running but to call first to make sure their system was up and running). Next time, if North Upland doesn't have what I need - I will go to Lowes in Upland BEFORE I ever go to this store, for a will call or straight purchase. I really wish Bob Nardelli was still at the helm of Home Depot - he would've have got a phone call from me to let him know what happened. read more
