Shocked by how bad the management is at The Honor Bar in HPV. I called to calmly complain about a staff member named Alyssa, and the "manager" Emily got so defensive, yelling at me that they are both in fact managers there, and hung up the phone. This might be my favorite lunch restaurant in California. We live in San Luis Obispo (just an hour north) and we stop every time we are heading to LA. For the last 8 years the food, service, and consistency has been an A+. The menu is simple, but so well done. It doesn't change much, which is awesome, because every time it's the same experience. We get a glass of wine, or the Crisp Gin Martini, have the trout dip (which is my #1 favorite dish anywhere), deviled eggs, and the truffle salted fries. The Macho Salad, the Burger, and the French Dip are all the go to's but, the Fish Sandwich special is incredible. Huge crispy fillet with a soft toasted brioche bun, with the crunch/sweet slaw and pickles with some hot sauce is a perfect sandwich. This place was AMAZING!! All of the food was made to perfection. The restaurant does have a dress code, however I felt it was nice but not stuffy. The service was nice and attentive. We had the Tuna Tartare as an app. It was so fresh, diced finely, with avocado and bread. Then we split the Cheeseburger and the Carolina Ribs. Cute patio with a front seat to all of the people watching action. The inside is very dark...even during the day. It's plush yet casual. This is my go to spot while shopping. The staff is welcoming. The service I experienced was outrageous. My son and I went out for dinner 2 Saturdays ago and the wait staff was not only rude, but actually ridiculous. We started chatting with two other patrons sitting in the booth opposite of us. We were then told by staff that we were not allowed to speak across the aisle (despite being the only two groups in the dining area). Then the other party invited us to sit at their booth with them, when we joined them we were abruptly told by staff we were not allowed to sit with them and then were threatened to be removed from the restaurant. We decided to tab out since we felt unwelcome. I called the following Monday to discuss the situation with management and I was assured that "Emily" would call me back, and that was 7 days ago and I am still waiting. Once sat our energetic waitress explained the menu and offered us water. The menu is small and Simple. I love it! It allows the chef to focus on every dish to make it delicious. I unfortunately just had a pretty disappointing experience at Honor Bar Dallas today. This was my second time coming to this restaurant. My first experience was really good this time was really bad. The waitress was really rude to my friend about being vegetarian and asking for vegetarian options. The waitress would rarely come check on our table. And would snap at us anytime we asked questions about the menu options. She also tried multiple times to take our plates as we were actively eating and wouldn't ask beforehand: she would just walk over and try to take the plate from you. I'm not sure why she was really rude and snappy. I am not sure if it's because my group (group of 3) were younger women of color and she assumed we couldn't afford to be here....(which is sad :( - also for my friends - one works high up in tech and the other is a lawyer, the 3 of us each make decent money and always tip well). I only come into Highland park when my friends and I want to have a shopping day, I don't think we will be returning to Honor Bar anytime soon. read more

I know I might say this a lot but this is seriously one of my favorite places in Dallas. I wish the menu was bigger but the things that are on it; they do so well. Both the honor burger and the Ding's crispy chicken sandwich are always a hit for me - extra points for the slaw. As for appetizers; the deviled eggs are good though I'd like them better if they had less celery and the guacamole is another option but you don't get much chips with it. Drinks: They have your regular drinks, a small selection of wine and really amazing cocktails. Ask for a pomegranate martini if martinis are your thing and you won't regret it. They don't take reservations and it can get really busy especially on weekends so I personally prefer weekdays and afternoon on weekends as that usually has less traffic. Things to note: They don't have sell to-go food anymore. They don't have the honor pizza anymore (which was absolutely delicious) They don't allow strollers but you can have an infant car seat and it has to be indoors so it can placed in booth seating. read more

A girlfriend and I came to honor bar for a celebratory glass of champagne. We asked to sit outside on the patio and were seated, then asked to go back inside and wait because there was another person in line before us. We waited about 15 more invites and saw some seats at the bar open up so went to sit there. There were three bartenders behind the bar. There were two men that were super friendly and helpful, and there was a woman who had brown hair and glasses. She wouldn't even look at my friend and I. There was a woman sitting next to us who started up a conversation and the bartender told her that she hopes she isn't going to pay for our tab. At no point did we insinuate or ask that. It was odd but we ignored it. We stayed a little longer and ended up getting some food. There were two men who sat next to us and were trying to have a conversation but we kept to ourselves and after eating we left. Initially our bill came out to around 150. A couple of days later, I noticed that the total charged was closer to 400. I called and asked for a copy of the receipt that we signed. The bartender put the drinks and food of the men next to us on our tab and added additional gratuity. Needless to say- Service was horrendous. The bartender was passive aggressive and bizarre. Men, women who were older or accompanied by men were not treated at all with the level of pettiness or disrespect that my friend and I were.
