I've always loved Hillstone restaurants so was super excited to try The Honor Bar. Note that parking is very tight and congested in Highland Park Village so give yourself plenty of time to park and then head over. My friend was raving over The Crush which has smashed grapes inside the cocktail and it definitely did not disappoint. We started with the Deviled Eggs which clearly is a favorite at this restaurant since we saw pretty much every table around us ordering them, and yes they were very good. I was debating on what to get as my entree and ultimately ended up with the Ahi Tuna Poke which was not only presented beautifully but was made to perfection. Our server was very attentive and our water glasses were always full as well. The inside of the restaurant is not super big but they also have a bar area and patio seating. I would say this place is not great for big parties as it looked like every booth and table was set up for no more than 4 people.

I have always enjoyed my dining experiences at any of the Hillstone Restaurant Group establishments. The Honor Bar in Highland Park Village in Dallas is as exceptional compared to my previous superb Hillstone experiences in California. Over the last several years, I make it a point to have a meal here when I'm in the Dallas area. The interior is quaint, cozy, warm, and inviting as the front of the house staff. I typically have their Crab Cake Salad, which is amazing. Interactions with their wait staff have all been filled with cheer and warmth. They do get quite busy, so reservations would be helpful.

With how much hype Honor Bar gets on social media and the long wait to get a table for lunch (30-45mins), I was expecting something amazing... it didn't live up to the hype. The best I tasted from the things we ordered was the Crab Cake Salad. The crab meat was really good. It's like they took crab legs, shredded it up, and served it to you. Lots of flavors. The next best item was the Chilled Jumbo Shrimp. These things are HUGE! If you're a fan of shrimp cocktails, you will like this. The other two items: Ahi Tuna Tartare and Burrata on Toast was average, if that. The Ahi Tuna dish did not impress me at all. I can go to a local poke place and get the same tuna chunks for half the price. Also, there's too much olive oil on the avocado. I simply did not like the Burrata dish... too much cheese, oil, and butter... just too much. All of the grease ends up getting stuck in your throat and it ruins the rest of the meal. I didn't run into any of the service issues that some of the other reviews stated. The worst that I experienced was they didn't refill my water until I asked for it.

Overall, the vibe is great, and the drinks are delicious. I thought the service was very good as well. Definitely could use some more AC. The food was decent, however, I think the lamb sandwich needed some type of Greek sauce to go with it. All in all a good experience and would go back.

French 75s + cozy vibes at The Honor Bar

The Honor Bar in Dallas is such a gem ... dim, cozy lighting, great vibes, and the friendliest locals. It's the perfect little escape for happy hour or drinks with your bestie. My standout? The French 75 (it's my fave) crisp, refreshing, and honestly one of the best I've had. If you're looking for a cute, elevated spot to unwind, this place is definitely worth a stop. Can't wait to go back!

Let me start with this: I have eaten in restaurants across states, across coasts, across continents. I've reviewed everything from hole-in-the-wall gems to Michelin hopefuls. But nothing, and I mean nothing, has ever earned the level of consistent, soul-warming excellence that The Honor Bar in Highland Park Village delivers. This place doesn't miss. It doesn't know how. And the magic begins the second you step through the door. THE FRONT OF HOUSE DREAM TEAM: SUSAN & JANESSA Susan and Janessa are the unofficial mayors of Highland Park Village. These two could run a country. They're the reason the restaurant hums with that perfect balance of energy and ease. They greet you with warmth so genuine that you immediately forget every bad text you've ever received and suddenly remember that yes... life is good. They set the tone. They set the vibe. And that vibe is immaculate. I keep coming back because these two make Honor Bar feel like home. CHEF KAYLA: THE CULINARY COMMANDER Chef Kayla is easily one of the most impressive chefs in Dallas. Not just because the food is outstanding (more on that in a second), but because she leads from the front. This woman will literally hand-deliver dishes from the kitchen. Not for show. Not for praise. Because she cares. Because she's proud of what her team creates. Because hospitality is in her DNA. The attention to detail... the passion... the commitment... the artistry... Michelin, if you're listening: Dallas has your next rising star. THE SNOW GLOBE EFFECT Right now, Highland Park Village is dressed in full Christmas magic. Walking into The Honor Bar feels like stepping into a snow globe that's been curated by Santa's most fashionable cousin. Sparkling lights, festive charm, and cozy holiday energy everywhere. It's perfect. THE SERVICE ALL-STARS: VINCENT, QUAN, LEONA & LILY A standing ovation for this entire squad. Vincent is charisma personified. Warm, personable, uplifting. The man has an infectious smile and, by the way, is newly married, congratulations to him and his wife! Quan is hysterical in all the right ways. I've genuinely never seen someone light up an entire table with laughter so effortlessly. The comedic timing is elite. A world-class mood elevator. If serotonin could clock in and start a shift, it would look exactly like Quan walking up to your table. A true talent in the ancient art of making humans feel good. Leona is attentive, warm, sweet, and one of the most genuinely kind humans you'll meet in hospitality. She radiates positivity and poise. The kind of presence that instantly softens your shoulders and makes you feel taken care of. Her energy is gentle but powerful, and her attention to detail is the grace hospitality dreams of. Lily waited on us last weekend when we brought two new Highland Park neighbors who had just relocated from San Francisco. These are sophisticated people, well-traveled, used to exceptional service. Lily blew them away. She blew all of us away. Glasses full at all times. Drinks anticipated before we even had the chance to crave them. Poised, kind, effortless. It's rare to witness someone so dialed in and so naturally gifted at hospitality. We genuinely spent half the night talking about how phenomenal she is at her job. THE FOOD. MY GOODNESS, THE FOOD. Our go-to lineup, the Mount Rushmore of Honor Bar greatness: - Emerald Kale Salad with Rotisserie Chicken: healthy, flavorful, addicting - Ding's Crispy Chicken Sandwich: crispy, juicy, elite - French Fries with Spicy Mayo: I would petition the United Nations to protect this combo - Rotisserie Chicken Plate: comfort food at its finest - Crab Cake Salad: somehow luxurious and refreshing at the same time Honorable mentions aka the "don't even think, just order it" items: - Guacamole: easily top 3 in Dallas - Deviled Eggs: the sleeper hit that turns everyone into a believer The drinks? Refreshing, balanced, delicious. The kind you order twice by accident on purpose. THE VERDICT Honor Bar is a masterclass in hospitality. A place where excellence isn't random... it's routine. Where the service is as memorable as the food. Where leadership clearly hires rockstars and creates an environment where they can shine. Hillstone, if you're listening... these employees deserve to be recognized. What this team does, night after night, is nothing short of flawless execution. If you want warmth, comfort, consistency, laughter, joy, great food, perfect drinks, and staff who genuinely make your day better... Honor Bar is the Highland Park Village essential. This isn't just a restaurant. It's a ritual. And I cannot recommend it highly enough. 11/10!

This week I had the pleasure of visiting Honor Bar for the first time. This was also my first experience at a restaurant in the Hillstone group, which I was especially excited about since I've only ever heard great things. Honor Bar is located in Highland Park Village, which makes for a convenient and upscale dining experience. Complimentary valet is available -- a big perk given how crowded the parking lot usually gets. The area is surrounded by high-end shops, perfect for browsing or window shopping before or after your meal. To drink, I ordered the Jack Rabbit. Tequila is always my go-to spirit, and this cocktail came recommended by our server. The combination of tequila, Campari, and mint was refreshing and well-balanced -- a great drink to sip on while enjoying dinner. For my entrée, I went with Ding's Crispy Chicken Sandwich. I don't usually order sandwiches at restaurants, but this one has a reputation online. Served cut into thirds, it's generously stacked with crispy chicken, Swiss cheese, tomatoes, and a slaw. The slaw, paired with what seemed like a honey mustard sauce, added just the right flavor contrast. The menu describes the slaw as spicy, though I didn't find it spicy at all. The chicken itself was fried to perfection -- golden, crunchy, and juicy on the inside. It's easy for a sandwich to be good, but rarely do I get my socks knocked off by one. The Dang's Crispy Chicken landed right in the middle; it didn't blow me away but I would happily order it again! To finish, we shared the Pot de Crème topped with homemade whipped cream and a coffee crumble. It was the perfect ending: rich and indulgent, but portioned just right -- satisfying without being over the top (a rarity for Texas desserts!). Overall, Honor Bar delivered on the high expectations I had. From the service to the food and atmosphere, everything came together for a memorable first visit.

The little dog who was refused a cup of water

I recently had lunch at Honor Bar and, unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. We spent a considerable amount of money dining there, and everything was fine until we asked for a small cup of water for our 25 lb mini Goldendoodle, who was quietly and well-behaved beside us. First, our waitress told us she "didn't have any cups," even though they clearly had to-go cups available. That response felt dishonest. We then asked to speak with the manager to better understand the policy. She said she didn't know the reason and needed to call the ownership company. When she returned, she still had no explanation and simply said she could not provide water for our dog. It was around 80 degrees outside. It is not reasonable to let a dog sit in that heat without water. Providing a small cup of water is a basic act of courtesy. This should not require calling upper management, and it certainly should not be denied without explanation. We understand that restaurants may have policies regarding pets. However, the lack of transparency, empathy, and common sense in this situation was very disappointing -- especially at this price point. Hospitality includes basic decency. We will not go back and not recommend this place for any animals lover !

I stopped by for lunch after shopping as this spot was recommended by Stacy from Valentino. I opted for the chicken kale salad, which didn't disappoint, and paired it with a nice glass of white wine. I did leave room for dessert. The server was attentive and polite. Overall solid experience - worth the visit.

We really enjoyed our time at honor bar. There is a great ambience inside and the service was friendly. We started off with the martini and a beer, which were both great but a little bit on the expensive side. We got the prime rib sandwich and burger with fries, which were excellent. I highly recommend both of those dishes. Overall, I would come to honor bar again. Note- there is a complimentary valet for parking.

First up, the pirogies--holy moly, these little pockets of joy were just unreal. Perfectly soft, stuffed to the brim, and fried up just right. I'm pretty sure if my tasted these, she'd give a polite nod and say, "Not bad, eh?" Then came the pot roast poutine, and let me tell ya--this isn't just food, it's a life experience. You've got those crispy fries, squeaky cheese curds (as they should be, eh!), and gravy so rich it could probably pay rent in Toronto. And then--BAM--tender pot roast on top. I nearly stood up and sang "O Canada," no joke. Now the Canadian Eggs Benedict? Ohhh, beauty. The peameal bacon was thick, juicy, and cooked just right, sittin' pretty under those poached eggs with hollandaise sauce that was smoother than a fresh sheet of ice. Absolute perfection, eh. And don't even get me started on the everyday breakfast. Classic, hearty, and no funny business--just how we like it. Eggs done right, toast that actually tastes like toast (imagine that!), and portions big enough to fuel ya through a full day of shovelin' snow... or, you know, strolling around Dallas. All in all, Maple Leaf Diner absolutely crushed it. Let me tell ya, the service was so fast and smooth, I thought I was dreaming eh. Great food, friendly vibes, and enough Canadian charm to make ya wanna say "sorry" when someone else bumps into you. 10/10, would recommend--now pass the syrup, eh?

Often times after it's all said & done, you wonder - was that worth it? Thankfully, that is NOT the experience I had at Haywire! I ate here on August 9th, 2025 and enjoyed everything about it. I was with a large party but would love to return for a more intimate experience. On this Saturday, my younger cousin was graduating from Parker University so I was in town for the weekend. At around 1pm, I was one of the first to arrive at the restaurant. Unfortunately the parking is a bit confusing. There was construction being done on the same street when I went but there's a parking garage for customers that's difficult to navigate AND the elevator that connects wasn't operating at the time which was an issue for many (but not me, I got a good spot & walked). My party hadn't all arrived yet so I took a gander. Upon entering the tall doors, the space breathes southwestern elegance: wooden structure, leather seating, separate dining areas with highlighted ranch-style art. The abundance of space gives it an open-concept feel. The lighting fixtures are modern, the space was dim but not too low, with an option to utilize the large windows also. I was quiet impressed at the overall presentation. When my party did arrive, I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and a Hibiscus Haze with Vodka. The table shmoozed as we ate some of the appetizers: the Crab Dip & Green Tomatoes, both amazing. The food did take some time but, considering it was 10-12 of us, that's expected. The Hibiscus Haze was splendid: smooth & flavorful, a great concoction. Cobb salads are usually pretty thick but this one was HEARTY. It came in a large bowl stuffed with the all the toppings. The dressing it was tossed with was well balanced but could've used a tad bit more. With some pepper & a little ranch, I was set! I defeated the salad but it also left me stuffed to the gills. Satisfying meal that I would order again! There are tons of restaurants to dine at in Dallas & sometimes you never know which is worth your time. Despite the inconvenience of parking, I'd bet my bottom dollar that this is a good place to eat. Whether you want a fine dining experience, it's a special occasion or just want a good drink with a meal, Haywire has enough to satisfy all interests.

We were asked to wait. Waited maybe 5-10mins. No biggie, A lot of open tables were available for immediate sit down. Again that wasn't a big deal. I had asked for a booth & wanted to sit in front room. The hostess said no a problem. She handed us off to a younger hostess and she took us to a table. I told her I had requested a booth. In the front room only 3 tables were occupied. I pointed out the booth and she said that's for party of 6. However, we could have the 1/2 table/booth. Made absolutely no sense because that was for a party of 6 as well. I made this comment & she just stared at me without saying a word. I didn't want to seem difficult and took the table as she just walked away. Kev was confused as we were. No good communication skills. It was an awkward encounter. The restaurant wasn't busy at all & never was whole time there. Kev wasn't sure why she didn't move us a requested & was puzzled himself. However i apologized to him & explained I wasn't trying to be difficult, but prefer booth sitting and most times we will wait for one. We left at 1:45p and restaurant was no busier than when we arrived. Reservation/Booth or not! I guess saying all of this, your front staff need to have more people skills when dealing with your customers. They are the face and first point of contact. Again Kev was amazing & food was outstanding!
