4/5 on the basis that the food is insanely good. The only reason I wouldn't give this a higher rating is for the service. They are very judgement and picky about who they will help and give good service to. In our instance it felt very ageist since me and my bf are younger. I've wanted to make my way here for a while now and was very excited when my friend suggested it for lunch. It's nestled in beautiful Highland Park and the weather was phenomenal the day I visited. We didn't have any reservations but were able to get seated right away. It was pretty full, which wasn't a surprise, with lots of indoor and outdoor seating available. Our server was nice but a little awkward. She kept coming by to pick up our plates when we weren't done. As far as the food goes, everything was amazing. We ordered a few items and just shared everything, which is the way to go. I'll go down the list. Deviled eggs - good appetizer. Creamy filling and just overall a great way to start! Macho salad - I mean WOW! The dates took it to a different level for me. It was such a simple salad but so delicious. I loved the dressing and we practically licked the plate clean. Crispy chicken sandwich - this is the main reason I wanted to come here and I was not disappointed. I'm not a huge fan of crispy or fried chicken (yes, shocking) but loved this sandwich. It was a huge order so very easily shared or can be taken home for leftovers. Order this!! French fries - crispy, addicting, and a perfect addition to the sandwich. Ended up at this place after our shopping but this place was a huge let down in terms of SERVICE. The Service was good only till we were seated but our host was so pathetic. He was not friendly nor attentive. We ordered our drinks and appetizer and later when he brought the main course , he just took the plates and the appetizer plate ( with still food left )even with out asking if we are working on it or not. I did ask for water and waited for 10 min while he was just walking back and Forth but never really bothered to get a glass of water.Well I had to ask some one for it. Highest recommendation from our realtor, and I'm so happy we selected to dine here. Initially the line out of the door was worrisome, because it appeared as if there was a lengthy wait; wrong. Considering the number of patrons our wait time was exactly 15 minutes. I greatly appreciate the perfect customer service from start to finish; the staff were all extremely pleasant. I asked to order bread service and she responded "we don't offer any free bread only the appetizers on the menu". I never asked for anything "free" I asked to order bread. I think she may need a day off, when she's ready to be friendly and actually service clients rather than bat her lashes and give unnecessary attitude. I hate to be Debbie downer but the food wasn't great to me. After being told to take my hat off, if I wanted to be seated in the dinning room I ordered the chicken sandwich, potato salad and broccolini. While the presentation was beautiful, the sandwich were horrible. The chicken was like rubber in my mouth. In fact at first I thought it was just an object in my mouth and spit it out. Then as a moved to each cut of the sandwich I realized all the chicken was like leather rubber. I left the sandwich alone and decided to get full of my sides. The broccolini is very tasty and the potato salad is good. It reminds me of a Independence Day potato salad you would find in the Hampton's somewhere. It's hard to not like honor bar. Honor bar is one of those places you can make your regular, comfort place with consistency in their food and service. The chicken sandwich, fries and kale salad is my go-to, but my husband also raves about the cheeseburger! The cocktails are great, i've had my fair share of great Aperols during the day and martinis at night with dinner. I have been coming to this restaurant several times a month for 5 years with my kids, relatives and friends. It was my favorite place. I really love the ahi tuna salad and it was the best in this restaurant. I always ordered it. A few weeks ago I had an incident with the manager. I was sitting in the patio with my friend and kids. And my sister came up to me. It was Sunday, 3 pm, the restaurant was not full. There were many tables and chairs available. People who was sitting next to us offered they free chair for my sister to sit next to us. After the manager came and said that their policy does not allow more than 4 people to be seated at a table. I politely asked to seat my sister for a maximum of 20 minutes until we finish eating and pay. The manager was very impolite and did not want us to listen. I said that I hoped for a better treatment of regular customer. A few days later we came again with a friend and children for dinner. I had my cough medicine in a small plastic glass. Same manager grabbed glass from me just said "give it to me". I was shocked!!!! We waited for food over hour. My ahi tuna salad was low quality and much less than usually. I asked the waiter to return the salad. He called the same manager who did not agree with my opinion and did not want to return the order. The manager suggested me not to go to the restaurant if I am not satisfied with their ahi tuna salad. I was very surprised to hear that. I returned food for the first time in 5 years!!!!! She said that I am constantly unhappy! Wow! What a liar! Then couple days later we I came back with my friend for lunch again and customer service said we can't service you, because you was complain to the manager!!!!! What's go on with my favorite bar!!!! So, the Honor bar is one of those places you love to hate. Always a long wait, no reservations taken, on the pricy side. Honor bar is also one of those places you cherish and love having in the neighborhood. I've never seen staff anywhere take your dining experience so seriously. This American bistro is in tip top shape and run like a well oiled machine. You probably know this. These people mean business. The menu is small and for good reason. The philosophy seems to be do a few things and do them with excellence and grace. Everything on the menu is the highest of quality and the presentations are spectacular to say the least. It came out medium rare with a soaked bun. I'm really getting tired of watching staff go around harassing men about 4 figure felt hats in JANUARY when half the women are in sneakers and yoga pants. Venues that choose to follow archaic practices should do so at the door and offer to take the hat along with a long coat as both will no doubt end up on the ground if on a 4 top. We shared the guacamole, and I was excited to order the Ahi Tuna Tartare, but he told me they were out. There was a shortage on tuna. I quickly switched to the Rotisserie Chicken, I which I had no complaints about. My friend ate all my fried though. They only had one dessert, the tres leches cake. No complaints from me. I love Highland Park Village, especially at night & especially during the Holidays. This Sunday night I met a friend at The Honor Bar, which is tucked way in the back between Rag n Bone (corner men's store on Douglas) and The Market. The patio stretches out to the sidewalk, and has some lovely tables and comfy-looking chairs. It was actually in the low 70's when I visited Dec. 8, so we should have sat outside! The patio overlooks the parking lot and you get a great view of the sky as well. The complimentary valet kept my little red baby close by. I wasn't very hungry, so my friend & I split the chicken sandwich, and I am so glad we did because it is a LOT! And so good! I have never had slaw on a chicken sandwich. It was seasoned just right and not soggy. The swiss cheese blended perfectly with the slaw and seasoning of the chicken. I'm not much of a bread person, but this bread was amazing. It appeared to be a 6" inch sub cut into 3 'bites'. Oh, and the french fries - love that they are served separately and are nice & crunchy, cut thin - more like the shoestring potatoes, yum! The restaurant is owned by the Hillstone group, and it is clear in the decor. Same beautiful deep browns and romantic lighting. Our server was great. I was in the mood for a sweet drink & ordered a cosmo, but it didn't arrive sweet, so she got it fixed right up and I had another. The Honor Bar is a wonderful restaurant. My friend and I came for lunch. The inside atmosphere was cozy and intimate despite being full of people. The interior is dark, and it has a somewhat rustic look to it. It was very cool! I ordered the Kale and Rotisserie Chicken Salad, and it was great. The portion size was filling, and it was tasty and refreshing. The menu looked amazing, though. Next time, I would like to try the Ahi Tuna Tartare. It would also be a fun place for a drink! I would recommend the deviled eggs for a appetizer. The sweet crunch of the relish gives the eggs an outstanding flavor. We both had the honor bar burger, medium. The burger was stacked high with coleslaw, pickles and tomato. We both couldn't remember when we had any better burger. Of course the wine list was not too long to make you dizzy from a choice. Located in the high end highland park village expect commensurate prices but at least it wasn't equally as stuffy nor was it pretentious. I was lucky enough to have found a seat at the bar as it was packed. I love Caesar salad and try it on any menu as almost a gauge for how good the restaurant is, I know I know don't judge me (Caesar snob of all the things), anyways the kale Caesar came out SOGGY, SOAKED and DRENCHED in dressing, I just could not believe my eyes and taste buds. I asked and was told that's how it usually is served.
