This place apparently have been around for a long time. I remember going there once about 8 years ago and finally we got to go again for a family lunch. There were good GF options and overall we thought the food was really good. The service was also good, no complaints there. The place feels very casual for lunch but also feels like it would be "fancy" enough for a dinner. I believe in the morning or weekends they have a nice Bloody Mary bar, I need to try that one out. I'm not sure how parking works, I was able to park on the street however Broadway can get pretty busy.

Stopped by for a Sunday brunch, great brunch options - hashes, sandwiches, omelets - most with GF options. The GF biscuits were SO buttery and good. Wings had an awesome crunch with a punch of buffalo. Yum all around! Def want to come back for GF fried chicken!

*CELIAC / GLUTEN FREE REVIEW so many options!! holy WOW - a separate allergen menu for allergies AND cross contact, with markings for what is GF versus can be modified for GF. I got the tuk tuk noodles, they didn't blow me away with flavor but everything was cooked well and blended together! It was still a very good meal, I definitely want to come back to try more of the menu. very cool venue on a cute street, super knowledgeable staff. ALL flours here are GF, so all the batters / fried things are GF, therefore the fryers are safe too! I did not get sick:)

My new favorite brunch spot! No wonder why my friend brings everyone here as her go-to. It was shockingly empty for a Sunday morning on Broadway. There were 4 of us, and we were seated right away. They take reservations, but one wasn't needed. It's a spacious restaurant. I had the Latin Prime Rib Hash, which I couldn't take my eyes off of. Paired with a Spicy Bloody Mary, it was the perfect brunch. Our waitress wasn't very welcoming and seemed a little out of it, but maybe it wasn't her day. Would come here again anyways!

Amazing food and top notch service. We reserved a room for a weeding rehearsal dinner. The staff was so great. Very attentive and on top of things for our group of 42. The food was delicious and they paid special attention to those who had allergies. Everything was perfect!

Good OG Denver spot! Lots of seating and we were able to walk in for Sunday brunch. Awesome breakfast tacos and breakfast burrito. Even $5 blood bar! Can't beat that!

4.5 stars. Had the veggie wrap and it was fantastic, the let me get fried plantains for the side (yum!). Got the Passion Project drink (a little watery tasting but light nice flavor). The carrot cake was shared by table , nice spice cake base, light and moist. Would get it again. Great service, friendly and proactive. Quiet and nice ambience (wasn't very crowded so not sure how would be if busy). Bathrooms were just ok (weird toilet paper dispenser and cold air blower for drying hands)

Loved dinner tonight at the hornet! Truly, don't have any notes on how the meal could have been better. I can't wait to go back and try more of what they have on the menu, it was really hard to narrow it down. Our waitress was so attentive and professional & the restaurant was quiet enough on a Friday night to be able to have good conversation. I got the Reuben with sweet potato fries. The sandwich had spicy bacon sauerkraut, which added a really delicious flavor & one that I haven't experienced before. And I've had my fair share of Reuben's! I also appreciate that they don't up charge for sweet potato fries. My friend got the Mayan salad with grilled chicken and loved it. My other friend got the Broadway dip which is their a version of a French dip. She got it Philly style, which added mushrooms, onions, & banana peppers. This is definitely worth the up-charge of $2 because 1) it tasted amazing but also 2) the sandwich would've been a little bland without it. Lastly, I definitely recommend ordering a huckleberry lemonade, which has vodka and lavender lemonade. I could've had 5 they were so good.

I was a little disappointed here to be honest. I made a reservation for Friday night - which thank goodness I did - cuz it was busy! The hostess was great and super nice. We went to the bar to get a drink before our table was ready and we stood there for about 5 minutes and not a single person acknowledged us so we just went to the front to wait for our table. The hostess said that their system crashed and no credit cards could be run at the moment and the bar wasn't usually like that. She handled it gracefully. Our server was not personable at all. Did the bare minimum. She was tall with short curly hair. We got the fish tacos to start since it was happy hour and a few drinks. The tacos were good but overloaded with garnish and the scoop of guac did not get distributed evenly.. For dinner we had the lobster Mac and cheese and the braised short rib. The short rib was wonderful! It was a huge portion! I loved everything about it. Delicious and tender. The mash and broccolini were great too. The lobster Mac and cheese fell short of our expectations. It just really didn't have any flavor and the lobster was over cooked.

Hard açaí berry kombucha, spuds au gratin, curry chicken lettuce wraps - so delicious!!!!

I like the Hornet a lot. It's like a diner slash bar-restaurant. It's a cool vibe inside and the staff is usually really cool. I've tried a few food items, mostly apps -- avocado toast (with salmon and a hard-boiled egg!), chicken lettuce wraps, the poblano soup -- all of it was quite good!! The tacos and spuds au gratin were more like ok/good. They have a good amount of tap beers, only one cider, tap wines, and a hard açaí berry kombucha which I like. Defintely recommend this spot if you're looking for food/drink. It's the perfect spot before or after a flick at the Mayan Theater right across the street!

Will you have Fresh Palisades Peach Cobbler today?

    Yes!

What time do you open and do you have Palisade Peach Cobbler all day?

We will be open from 10-3 tomorrow and serve peach cobbler all day.

Is this a good place for a group of coworkers to meetup for drinks in the bar after work mid-week? I'm thinking of a group of about 10 people

Yes! They have tons of room and friendly service.

We made our reservation for 5:30PM and showed up at 5:05... glad they were able to seat us at 5:20 even though the restaurant was not busy and had many open tables. Maybe they were staggering for kitchen staff reasons. Marcos was very attentive and made tremendous amount of amazing recommendations. All of us decided to order the short rib from the prix fix menu and we all ordered some sides. We got the French onion soup, the bread pudding and the key lime pie. Also shared some mushrooms, asparagus and creamed spinach. The short ribs was very tender, the key lime pie was perfectly tart and sweet, the bread pudding is a little bit on the harder side as it came in a cast iron dish like a cookie... but the flavor was amazing and tasty w the vanilla ice cream. All in all we had a great time with our girls date after we saw a musical and really helped us wrapped up the day so sweetly. Thanks Marcos and team!

I was excited to take my friends here who were visiting from out of town. It had great reviews and…read moresaid it was child friendly which was a must as a single parent. We arrived and the hostess took 10 minutes to even acknowledge we were there then said she needed more time to clean off some tables which she did very slowly. She then said she would seat the 4 of us at a 2 top with a high chair. She told us to wait until the table was ready. They set the table and brought over a high chair and then suddenly took the high chair away. In true "see you next Tuesday form" the hostess did not say anything to us and instead sat another couple who had just walked into the restaurant. They still said nothing to us until I walked over to the host stand and then blurted out that the couple they sat had been waiting before us for 50 minutes but got "lost in the system". Mind you, the couple had not been in there at all when we got there and we were told we would have the table. I am sure that we were profiled because we had a toddler with us and they decided to seat others in our place that they had set up for us. Not only that, but nobody ever came to talk to us and inform us about what happened. And then to top it off they told us we could order to go and sit in the lobby of the Meridian. Their behavior and attitudes were absolutely atrocious and definitely discriminatory based on us trying to bring a child during happy hour (before dinner seating had even opened). 0/10 do not go here if you enjoy polite hosts and wait staff and are looking for a family friendly establishment. The hotel lobby bar was everything Corinne was not. The bartenders and servers were friendly, food was delicious, and service was fast. They saved our evening which Corinne had done everything to ruin.

Location (4 stars) This restaurant is downtown near the convention center. parking is pricy if you valet park at the hotel. Last year it was around $40. Parking in the lot across the street for $25 dollars Easter Sunday. If you use a walker, I would not recommend the parking lot across the street. Food (3 Stars) The Thanksgiving buffet is the best one. I would rate that buffet a (4). The Christmas and Easter buffet are pretty low key. There is a carving station (ham and prime rib). There is an omelet station. Dessert bar is decorative. Cheesecake was delicious. The warming station with potatoes, sausage etc. leaves much to be desired. The charcuterie station is sparse. They offer unlimited mimosas for an additional $25. Service (5 stars) Staff are extremely friendly. Cleanliness (2 stars) My only complaint, I saw a tabletop being cleaned off with a rag used to clean the chairs and then under the table on the floor and on to the next tabletop. I'm just a little picky about that. Especially since folks these days go commando and wear short attire, and you know their parts are on the chair and now spread to tabletops. Wiping up the crumbs off the floor with same rag simply through me over the edge. Atmosphere (4 stars) Spacious uncrowded environment. Nice decor. Bright with large windows.

I saw Former Saint on CBS News, and the menu and food looked incredible. In particular, that white chocolate blueberry cheesecake was something I know my hubby would look forward to all week! I loved the idea of local food and fresh homemade dishes. Sounds healthy, after a week of potential over-indulgence at other restaurant week venues. An additional bonus was that it is located right near the Denver Convention Center and the Performing Arts Center. This has become a dry spot for fine dining, with even the choices on Larimer Square growing more thin, giving rise to the inability to get reservations at favorites like Tamayo and Rioja prior to a show. I go to performances frequently with friends, and despite my rule to avoid hotel restaurants (Former Saint is in the Hyatt Regency), I thought I'd scope out Former Saint as a place to take my friends before the next symphony or Children's Chorale or ballet or broadway performance. I must say, the jury is still out. Former Saint was a Jekyll and Hyde of courses. Parking was not difficult (Yay, maybe I can park here prior to my shows, if I grab a bite first). There is a large garage, and the promise of validation from the restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant is typical hotel restaurant. Booths, tables, old and a bit drab. Except for the bar. Oh, my! The bar has this BEAUTIFUL copper creation above it, adding so much industrial character to the space! I was in awe looking at it, as it appeared to bring craft suds to the bartender's taps. I didn't ask how it worked, as it wasn't clear how the beer separation and dispensing worked, but it was a great centerpiece and spectacle for the place. I do wish I had investigated more about this architectural marvel, and will do so if I return. For restaurant week, my husband chose the Lobster Ravioli, Ribeye, and blueberry cheesecake (as predicted). I chose the Gotham salad, roasted chicken, and key lime tart. The lobster ravioli was nice; my husband was surprised that it was a toasted ravioli, but enjoyed it. My salad was full of beautiful greens, pears, walnuts, and feta. No scrimping here! The dressing was light and sweet/sour. The pears were a bit unripe and crisp, to the point that I was having trouble identifying exactly what fruit I was eating, but other than that, the salad was beautiful, healthy, and ample. My husband's ribeye steak was a nice cut, done to his liking. Slivered hash browns were underneath with a nice green chimichurri on top and some sliced Fresnos adding a welcome kick to the dish. My chicken was delightful. 1/2 chicken on the bone, seasoned nicely, and with a pan sauce. The breast was super-tender and delicious. It came atop cheesy grits, which was a yummy substitute for a mashed potato. I also was served side salad of curly lettuce and fennel. I probably didn't need more salad, but I was glad to have the healthy side on my plate. I will say that this salad was over-seasoned. The chicken and grits were great, but the salad too salty. My husband ordered a glass of J. Lohr Cabernet, which was a very nice find on the wine list, as far as a pairing for his ribeye. That said, the glass cost $30! A bit much, I might say. The real detractor, unfortunately, was dessert. The blueberry cheesecake looked nothing like the beautiful creamy white cheesecake accented throughout by purple blueberries, which I saw on the CBS News clip. My husband was served a very small solid purple slice, overcome with whipped cream dollops. This cheesecake had been uncovered in the fridge too long, with sort of a skin on it. My husband ate almost none of it. My key lime tart was similarly over-adorned with whipped cream, although I had some nice raspberries on top. The tart also seemed overexposed to the cool air, with the thickening of a skin on top. It was a very disappointing way to end a nice meal, and belied the healthy, homemade, craft theme. High points of this experience include the well-crafted and healthy entrees, the fact that we could see the convention center right outside our window (i.e., the location is perfect for pre-event or -theater), the $3.00 validated parking fee, and that beautiful copper tap system. Will the pros outweigh the cons? Will we be back with friends? Time will tell.

Laid back vibe and welcoming staff. Nothing pretentious at all. The bartenders were knowledgeable and gave great suggestions. Always stayed on top of my drinks. The thing I like most about Death & Co is the way the categorize their drinks: Light and playful, bright and confident, elegant and timeless, boozy and honest, and rich and comforting. I had the aqua profunda (cognac, St. George basil eau di vie, lillet rose, strawberry, lime, and absinthe). I also had the eight limb daiquiri (rum, Canada aguardiente, Thai tea cordial, lime leaf, and Maraschino). The Blood Oath (mezcal, Vecchio del capo, Calabrian chili amaro, St. Germain Elderflower, lavender, honey, lemon). All were complex and delicious.
