I will say the food was very good.... when it finally came out. Our waitress started off cracking jokes and being very jovial which is fine as long as you can back up your cheer with good service. She could not --so her jokes and personality became condescending and rude. The waitress checked on the table twice in 2 hours of being there with two of the 6 of us drinking beer. We sat for 45 minutes with dry beers. I had to go to the bar to get a beer once i realized our waitress had no interest in checking on us. I was told it took so long because it was so busy. No restaurant in the area is quick but this was by far the worst i have been to. I won't go back and if you walk in and it looks at all busy I would suggest you leave unless you have 2.5 hours for a burger and don't mind listening to a clear drug abusing waitresses stupid jokes. read more

We were in the area to try out the Jam Room brewery and were uncertain whether to stop here afterwards for dinner based upon some negative reviews. The Good: server, beer selection, bar scene. The Bad: food. I am a garbage pail who will eat just about anything, especially a burger. The burger I ordered had hot peppers on it, but they substituted them for bell peppers. The food took forever to come out because the half-full restaurant was "backing up" the kitchen. Turns out they were apparently taking so long because they were grilling the hell out of my burger, which I ordered medium, to the point that it had zero taste. The sweet potato fries were marginal. My wife's chicken was like rubber. We are back at the hotel now and my wife is currently vomiting up the rubbery chicken as I type. Order an IPA and talk to people. Don't eat. read more

The kindness and care we received from our server, Glenda was stellar. She made the whole experience memorable, despite our late night arrival at the restaurant and frazzled state from a long day's travel. The food was lovely - tasty, fresh diner food served with heart and soul. Our group ordered the onion rings, salad and fisherman's stew, all of which were wonderful and full of flavor. The menu is extensive, and everyone was impressed with their main course. Wings, a toasted open faced turkey sandwich (Glenda's Flying Monkey Sandwich), and the prime rib were all delicious and served with a little extra pizazz than typical diner fare. Glenda (our waitress) was unusually sensitive to one of our party's Celiac disease, and literally sat down at the table with us to troubleshoot the menu with us to make sure this diner felt welcomed and safe eating the food. The desserts (which we usually skip, but everything was so good we had to try them!) were great. We got the flourless chocolate lava cake (YUM), the sweet potato-whiskey bread pudding, and a chocolate sundae. Everything was delicious and we were totally stuffed and happy at the end of the meal. Despite how tasty all of the food was, the most wonderful thing about this restaurant was its staff, who all clearly care for their customers above and beyond typical service. Passed by several times, looked quant & finally decided to try it for takeout on the way home from a business trip. Called ahead, they said they'll put the order right in and even told me of a special for the item I wanted. Got there then waited and waited, total of about 50min for a steak then told me they had to charge more as the special didn't include what I ordered. Got home to eat it and don't know how they did it but they were able to burn (as in crusty black) a medium steak on one end and have it basically raw on the other. Broccoli was disgusting. Don't trust them with your food allergies, or indicate you don't eat something. They were very casual about it, barely apologized for not mentioning that they couldn't remove the ingredient from the dish! If someone says, no meat with my dish - you should say you can't remove the meat, don't serve it! Never acknowledged it took over 40 minutes to start bringing food - the children even had to wait. Didn't bring bread to our table until we asked, we spotted it at another table and we were starving! Took 3 requests to bring napkins. The good- nice chili, cheese steak, onion rings. But since we were so badly neglected, they were so dismissive over having made a huge mistake with the meat - made several comments indicating it was our fault...yeah, unprofessional. read more

I really wanted to like this place.We found it on our way back from Silver birches resort.The first time we stopped we had a drink only and was excited to come back to eat.The food was ok,however,the service was not.The first time the poor little waitress had a meltdown right in front of us.The second time our older waitress was outright rude.I didn't hear her ask me what kind of dressing I wanted on my salad and she then proceeded to rudely tell me she wasn't a mind reader! Things went down hill from there.Also,I agree about the fatty steak. My Delmonico was mostly fat but was hesitant to say anything as I didn't want to further ruin my dining experience by the bad attitude of our waitress! First, I must say that I really do like this place, but a bit disappointed in the Queen-cut prime rib last weekend. I asked for it Medium and it was really rare and quite chewy -- it also was only slightly warm. I probably should have sent it back, but too many rumors about things happening! The meal came with a salad which was delicious and plenty. I chose a baked potato which came out steaming hot with a side of fresh broccoli. We also had a side order of onion rings that were delicious AND HOT!! I will certainly return but will choose NOT to order the prime rib next time! read more

The Hotel is a staple in town. Great food at extremely affordable prices!! The service is good and the menu is very creative. This is a great night out for a clams and beer night, or a prime rib and glass of wine. Casual atmosphere which is nice after a long week! read more

Had lunch there Saturday 10/21/17. I had a burger and my wife had the brat platter. Was very good. Tried the irish nachos as an app. It was great as well. Our service was fine and friendly. Had a very nice experience here despite some very difficult conditions the staff had to endure this day. Found 2 seats at the very busy bar, the bartender Patty greeted us friendly and quickly and told us she'd be with us as soon as she could, and she was hustling. It was a rainy, hot day and the place was packed. After a reasonable wait considering the crowd, Patty took our order, was pleasant, got us our drinks quickly all the while wrestling with a uncooperative beer taps and point of service system that was losing food orders for those of us sitting at the bar. Food was delicious once we got it. Ordered sandwiches and portions were generous and really good. Beers were icy cold. My wife and I don't mind a reasonable wait when the folks who are working are hustling, responsive and pleasant. Everyone at the "Hotel" fits that bill, especially our bartender Patty. They were all out of ribs, so I got prime rib instead. It was terrible. Very fatty, not flavorful, and the broccoli and potato that came with it were flavorless as well. Very bland meal overall. I'm really surprised by the reviews listed. I can't say that I'm sure I'm ever coming back...like ever. The atmosphere is ok; it's a mix of kinda a bar and kinda family dining. But not specifically either one. You're going to be here a while. My husband and I stopped for dinner around 8 and the place was pretty full. It took a awhile for the waitress to come over and greet us & get drinks. We both got sandwiches, it took about 30 minutes to receive our meals. I got a burger, it was not a fresh made patty, but rather a store bought processed burger. The dinners that people around us looked fantastic and by their empty plates, it must have been good. They got a lot better! French onion soup is amazing, steaks are tender, service is friendly and prompt, and even the bathrooms aren't as overpowering. The seasonal decorations they put up are really awesome, too. I don't know what changed, but whatever it is, you can tell that people actually seem to care, now, and it shows. Good for them! Only minor complaint is that I got French onion soup to go a couple weeks ago and they gave me one crouton, which was weird. They normally put a handful or so in there. But I don't eat the soup for the croutons anyway, so who cares? They've still vastly improved over time. read more

Always a great meal. Many unique entrees and the desserts are amazing. Steak night on Tuesday is awesome, especially their rib eye. If you are fortunate enough to visit on a night that Glenda is your server, you will have a 5 star experience. She has never faltered with her recommendations, has a great sense of humor and is a seasoned server. We have a vacation place in Newfoundland and visit here often.
