I came here for happy hour. I walked in and was lucky enough to find a spot at the bar. They have a pretty good happy hour menu. I only wanted an appetizer because I was going to the movie theater, across the way. I love the appetizer options some really unique items. I ordered a Michelob Ultra with some cheesy mashed potato balls. They balls were amazing. They had a nice crunchy outer crust and a cheesy center. The chipotle sauce that was with them was tasty but it was missing a kick. I have to say I would only really give this place two stars, if it wasn't for the food. Three out of the four bartenders were very unprofessional and were too busy socializing with their off duty coworkers. One of them was taking shots. Jon Taffer would have his azz fired pronto. I get it there is life out of work. But discussing where you are going to get drunk Sunday, before going to work, or who is shamming who is something a customer does not want to listen too. Unfortunately, the bar seating was full, otherwise I would have sat somewhere else. I may take the risk and go back. I am kind of on the fence. I have mixed feelings going into this place but overall I know my experience is not great. Me and my friend came here after seeing a movie to get some dinner. We got seated right away as it wasn't very busy. There was good deals going down for drinks. They actually have a lot of drink and meal deals during the week. I had ordered me a blue Hawaiian and a cupcake moscato. Both of my drinks tasted really good. However, the straw for my cocktail was oddly small and frustrating. They also gave us small straws for our water. We ordered a fried platter to start. Everything tasted good, we chose the pick 3 platter with pickles, onion rings, and mozzarella sticks. All of these tasted great! But the ranch was oddly liquidity. Almost like water. Me and my friend got our food and the presentation was nice. However, the flavors were not good. I personally ordered the H.F.C - which is supposed to okay off of a KFC bowl. The gravy was disgusting and super salty. And shown in the picture, there was a lot of it. The chicken was good though! The reason my review is so low is due to our waiter being very slow and not attentive. Me and my friend had to wait a long time for him when we wanted things such as a new drink order. We probably waiting a solid 30min just for him to come back with our check. Normally I'm patient but the place was not that busy. The kicker to our night is when we found a beetle crawling in our fried platter. We suspected it was a flying bug and maybe it landed there. But after messing with it we realized it was just a beetle and was on the platter all along. It then crawled into one of the fried pickles and we were done. Despite the menu being creative this place is pretty average. The prices are decent for the food you're getting. Visiting our son from out of town, we stopped at the Hub for the first time to catch a baseball game (go Mariners!) on Saturday night. This place is amazing. The food is good. I enjoyed it. It's not going to be the best meal you've ever eaten, but it means more to me that I can enjoy my meal and not get sick. I am a very sensitive Celiac, so cross contamination is a huge issue for me wherever I go. I never eat with my hands at restaurants anymore. They have a dedicated gluten free menu, which is a godsend for someone like me. I appreciate the gesture more than words can express. I ate at the bar. They went *above and beyond* and let the chefs know about my order -- warned them ahead of time. They have a separate prep area and a separate fryer. They changed gloves and changed out any tools or utensils in the back. I asked them to check if their rice was gluten free, but the chefs were unsure and the head chef had left for the day, so FYI on that note if you're Celiac or gluten intolerant /allergic -- double check with them first. They put on a comedy show and packed everyone in upstairs. There's no way this wasn't a violation of fire code. If there had been a fire, the audience could not have cleared out safely. There was no proper aisle into the seating area and no proper aisle to the one exit door we could see. It was also hot as hell in there. Dumbest idea for a comedy venue in metro Phoenix. Went on a date last night and she said this place was great, man she was not kidding. It was the window for dinner time on a Friday so the dining room was packed with a wait, well thankfully no one wanted to sit outside even though it was pretty comfortable and they have heaters, so we asked for that and jumped the line. The young lady up front was very friendly, then we get our waiter who I wish I remembered his name because he was an awesome guy. Younger, want to say hispanic, maybe Cuban cuz he's from Florida lol. ANYWAYS, guy was awesome, gave us plenty of time to order because we kept talking instead of choosing food. I got the Arizona Wings (smoked very nicely) and she got grilled (not fried) fish tacos, and I made the mistake of the delicious cajun fries. 1/2 pound of wings is around 10 pieces and they were delicious and very filling, but I refused to not eat roughly half my plate of cajun fries even though they had cooled off from me leaving them sit there and were still delicious. Overall the grand total for 2 alcoholic drinks, 2 sodas and 2 meals was much more expensive than I would've thought, but just means I won't come here often. Their wings are SO GOOD! We got the smoked wings with hot honey sauce and boneless wings with garlic Parmesan sauce. The boneless wings were good, but the smoked wings were just so good that nothing compared after! We also tried the green chile cheesesteak with Cajun fries, and my son got a grilled cheese. I would say this place is definitely one of those places where some meals are better than others. I'm sure some things on the menu are delicious whereas others may be so-so. My friend and I order appetizers and she had two drinks. We had the deep fried trio, mozzarella sticks, pickles and onion rings. That was good. Food came and I ended up liking my friends. My friend enjoyed her drinks and said they were well priced. I got a bacon burger but it was too under cooked for what I requested and the patty looked like it was from a freezer. My friend ordered the chicken mashed bowl, which she ate some of and became full so she let me eat the other half. The waiter was nice (although rather inattentive as he had a few large group tables outside) and kindly didn't charge for the burger. My friend was okay with the way the burger was prepared so she took it home. I took a little of the mashed potatoes and a piece of chicken home. The Ahwatukee location is the newest of The Hub Grill stable. There is some good and some bad. I am very certain that the lessons learned at the two other locations could help here. The good: - tons of seating - available outdoor seating - friendly staff - plenty of TV's - great deal of parking - awesome location The bad: - kitchen staff need more reps to better their trade - host staff need training I really like The Hub Grill concept! A little more training in a few spots will have this place running like the other locations. We walk in and were sat immediately. Our server was there very promptly and took our drink order. In the appropriate amount of time our drinks are delivered and we place our food order. Once our food came out, we notice that no table settings were dropped off when we came in. Our server was busy taking another table's order, so I walk to the hostess station to get our settings. Our meals were not exact duplications of the Stapley location that we frequent on a regular basis. The little things like warming up the roll that a cheesesteak goes into goes a long way. Bitting into a non-pliable roll out of the package is all I could think of as I ate my sandwich. Nothing we encountered are nonstarters, so we would come back sometime down the road. Love this spot!!! We were sad about Mellow Mushroom going away but this is a fantastic replacement! Super spacious with lots of seating. Great service! I got the Green Chile Steak Philly which was good! It's more like a steak sandwich with green chiles and chipotle queso. YUM! Came in for wings and beers. Super friendly staff and comfortable sports bar feel, but wings were mediocre. We went with the Arizona Roasted and the dry rub cajun and sweet and hot. The sweet and hot tasted like a bad buffalo and the dry rub was not that great. Got both dressings and they tasted pretty basic as well. Nothing like blue cheese with no real cheese on it or a ranch that tastes like it was just a salty liquid. We've been coming here once a month for the last couple months to play euchre with a group of friends. There are usually around 20 of us. We normally eat at 11 then start playing about noon. They are very nice that they give us a group of tables off to the side. The other area is pretty big also with many tables and a pretty big bar. They have a pretty big menu selection including appetizers. My husband and I decided to share just a couple appetizers this time. We chose the pretzel basket which is huge. You get one big twist pretzel, 2 pretzel rods and 4 roll shaped pretzels. They are very good but filling so if you get those I'd recommend not getting an entree that was very big. We also got the exploding potatoes (I think that's what it's called) they had cheese, sour cream, a little bacon and I think green onions. I do not recommend these unless you're happy with eating a bunch of plain chips as they had barely any toppings at all. The only good thing about them was they were fresh house made chips. Every thing came out quickly which was nice. It could of been because we come as soon as they open and there's not many people there yet. We had just one server assigned to our group and she did a fantastic job of making sure everyone was taken care of and checked on us often to make sure we didn't need anything else. Really happy this place opened. Most of the food we have had here has been fantastic. Chicken sandwich is great. HFC is fantastic. Desserts are good. Wings are good. Beer list rocks. Ambiance is wonderful. TVs literally everywhere. The only places where we would ask for some improvement: The wine list. It's all small bottles. And very cheap kinda gross wine (barefoot, Woodbridge). Just a couple bottles of decent wine would make a huge difference. The Iowa pork sandwich. It was pounded so thin that not only could we barely find the actual pork, but what WAS there was so tough to chew my jaw was sore afterwards. Great environment and decent food. Service wasn't anything to rant about. I called ahead to check if a specific game would be on, and the gentlemen I spoke with confirmed they would show the game. Everything seemed fine, but there was still no TV changeover after kickoff. The waitress had to ask for some of the TVs to be changed several times. The nachos arrived, OK, and nothing too crazy. The waitress forgot about my refill (diet Coke with lemon) and went to multiple tables with my empty cup. She finally returned but brought me an iced tea. She disappeared, so I went to the bar to ask for a Diet Coke; they took the tea and never got my Diet Coke. After about 10 minutes, I mentioned what happened to the waitress, and she finally brought me my refill (no lemon). And by this time, I was done with the service.
