Awesome name, awesome doorman, awesome dive. Walked in here on the 4th of July and someone put 'Born in the USA' by the boss on the jukebox. Yes. The bartender was friendly and she set an upbeat atmosphere. To name a few beers: Budweiser, Sculpin IPA (Ballast Point) 805 Blonde (Firestone) NO beers on the pool tables! Reading through other people's review makes me sad. Did we all go to the same bar? RECENTLY? I've been here a few times now, and I have held off writing my review due to the fact that I've been trying to give this place a chance. This bar reminds me of a joint I use to go to in West Covina. This is not meant as a compliment. I found the bartenders to be snobby. And before you dismiss me as a "jealous hater" I sincerely am not. I could care less what gender the bartenders are, or what they look like. But the fact is I never get served even though I waited politely and didn't make a fuss. They totally avoided my stare, and last time they straight up attended someone right next to me who was waiting there for a few minutes versus me who was waiting for about 10 minutes. It got to the point where I was like, "FUCK IT, I AM GETTING A DAMN DRINK". But I lost the battle when I was snubbed by the bartender. All in all I am totally turned off by this place. It's a total shame because the people who go to this bar seem cool enough. But, is it just me or does this bar think it's in Downtown LA? Wait, correction. I've been here once and I really hope I never have to endure the pain again. Leave your liver, lungs and credit card at the door. This place takes dive bar to a whole new level in a part of California known for majestic ocean views, beachfront property and lots of fake titties. And as for your credit card, you won't really need it since the place is a dive and drinks are cheap and super stiff. Oh, and if you care anything about your lungs, this place is a smokers' haven since they really don't abide by any laws. Eurotrash in the crowd? You know a bar is a total dive when patrons bring their five year old son to the bar while they get their drink on. Don't worry though, mom and dad were totally responsible and took turns holding the kid outside while their respective other got their drink on. The Huddle always treated me right for a quick refuel and cocktail session, while waiting for my girl to get her hair did... back before I shaved her head in her sleep, that is... Saturday mornings there attract your basic older divebar clientele; one word of advice - do not play a James Brown (or Too $hort) marathon on the jukebox; I found that this was not the way to make the regular old fogies welcome you with open arms or buy you drinks. Luckily I had a thousand dollars in my pocket in cash and could pay for my own inebriation. Cool place & one of my co worker's favorite hangouts (stopped by for happy hour before attending an event). Her fave bartender was working, and made the best martini I have had in a long while! Although it is considered a "dive" in my book, it was clean, big, and the men's restroom was just remodeled from what I was told, and it was very fancy, pretty out of character for this place IMO. read more

***BEWARE of FRAUDULENT CHARGES****DO NOT USE A CARD TO PAY HERE**** Went here for the first time this past Saturday and accidentally left without closing my tab. When I called to get my card I was told they didn't have it. Later I saw I was charged $100 even, no change just $100... exactly $100?... ummm no. first I only bought one drink on my tab, second that amount is obviously a weird amount. I went into the bar to have them check for my card again and I told them there were some false charges. The bartender who had served me (I was told his name is Jared, he's the one with earplug earrings) had the audacity to tell me to my face that he had given me my $5 tab to close out, and that I left him a $95 tip! I was floored! First, how can you tell me something totally false as if I don't know what happened? I could not believe that I was charged fraudulent charges, but to have the nerve to tell me in my face something as ridiculous as this... When I said no, that's ridiculous, he went on to say that the guy that had been sitting next to me and buying me drinks didn't leave a tip... as if this had anything to do with me. A friend of mine and I went to Kitsch about a block away. We made a friend who recommended Huddle, because it was close and it's a good spot to shoot some pool. It must have been fate, because I fell in love with Huddle. Let me start by saying that I was over-dressed for Huddle. This is a jeans and t-shirt style dive bar, and I arrived in my tight red dress and heels. What can I say, I didn't exactly anticipate going to a dive bar when I first got dressed. With that said, we immediately made lots of friends haha. Idk if it was the dress or just the friendly people Huddle attracts, but I played pool with two or three random groups of people that night. It was a lot of fun. There are so many pool tables here, so you never have to wait long for one to clear. Bring quarters! They have automated tables, and a game costs a whopping buck. With that said, lots of tables are missing a ball or two... But it's cheap, and it's a dive bar, so no one's complaining. Drinks are cheap here, so that's another plus. The bartenders know what they're doing, and one of them concocting a delicious drink for me when I asked her to surprise me. She said it was a tequila sunrise with a special twist; yum! Anyways, I ended up getting a tad drunk, and before I knew it, it was 2am... Where did three hours just go?!?! Chillest Local Bar Ever! The Huddle is literally right next to my house and I go about 2 times a week, because unlike most bars, it is super chill, cheap, and a guaranteed good time. Every night they have pitchers of beer on sale starting at $10, and plenty of pool tables to hang out by and watch local hustlers take peoples money. I'm not a huge bar scene kind of person, but this place is pretty... how should I say this... DOPE. It's one of those places you can come to on an afternoon where you're looking for something to do thats chill... that's inexpensive... that's local. Other than watching a movie or so and so. It's kind of in a ghetto area, but the place is well kept. The carpet is clean, the restrooms were clean, the seats, pool tables, and counters were clean and well kept too. Not one of those worn-out dilapidated bars (yes, the word that popped in my head was dilapidated, don't judge me). Full bar. Cards have to be a minimum of $10. They have an ATM and a change machine for quarters. You use quarters for the pool tables, foozeball, darts, pinball, etc. Good selection of games to at least spend an hour here to hang out or sober up after drinking. They also have a jukebox thing that plays music, but I didn't get to try it out. Yeah, that pretty much covers it. A chill bar with some chill people on a Monday afternoon. Little weird that I saw a 30s-50s crowd though (like, don't these people go to work?). Oh well. Whatevers. Go have fun. read more

Pretty dope place! Typical dive bar atmosphere with $1 pool tables! Came here after devouring Boiling Crab and just wanted to hang out at a chill place without the crowd. Always seen this place and decided to check it out. Lots of pool tables, with $1 (in quarters) play. The tables are simple, nothing fancy (think dive bar). They have a small bar area you can chill as well or some tables if you come with a group. All in all, had fun here, would come back. Recommended! read more

As far as pool hall go, this place is not very bad. They have quite a few tables and a full bar with a couple beers on tap. Bartenders are very friendly. I would've given a four-star except for half the times when I went to the bar, the bartender was out and back smoking and not available which caused me to wait or not get another beverage. The tables are flat and have good rails, lots of house pool cues that are straight and work well. Wow. Ted the bar tender is a complete asshole. He ruined the TV in a SPORTS BAR because the volume was on. Started threatening us and calling us names because we asked to have the volume on a football game up. You work in a SPORTS bar and hate football and refuse to have the volume on a FOOTBALL (sports) game. I am an avid drinker, and will routinely spend 200+$ per night at a bar, and I will NEVER BE back to spend money if TED is here. What an immature rude prick. EDIT: Other than the absolutely appaling attitude of the aforementioned bar tender, the drinks are strong, there are plenty of billiards table, and 90% of the time the experience is good. If you're coming here for the SPORTS half of the sports bar, you're gonna have a bad time... if you're coming to grab a drink, shoot some pool and throw a few sets of darts, this is a good choice. After a neighboring bar's line was too long (Mesa) we ended up here. Personally, I was glad, as I am getting old and I don't wait in lines to get into bars anymore. The Huddle is more my speed anyway. A bar with no wait to get in, a bar that welcomes all types, a bar that offers cheap drinks. A bar that is good for hearing what your friends have to say because it isn't overly crowded with hipsters. The Huddle is my home away from home. after 6 years of going here, i'm surprised i haven't reviewed it sooner. probably cus i suck at actually posting reviews on here. i couldn't ask for more from a bar. except maybe some cheap bar food and more beers on tap. but there's plenty of places to grab food around the place, and they have a good bottle selection. The Huddle might not be for everyone. it's not classy or swank. if you want that, go pay $15 for a drink next door at Mesa. what it is, however, is one of the most homey, welcoming bars you may ever come across. the regulars are friendly and fun, the bartenders are incredible, and if to find Teddy, you will hear a hell of a story or two. this is a place where you will walk out of with 10 new friends every time you go in. someone mentioned that you should stick to beer and not get too crazy with the mixed drinks. apparently they've never ordered a mixed drink from here. if you want especially great mixed drinks, find a night that Crystal is working. she is the greatest bartender i've ever come across. "i'm not sure what i want. something with whiskey, beer, and... hell.. throw some green tea in that mix, too". she'll think for a second, and somehow come up with the most delicious (and very alcoholic, yet not even noticable by the taste) drink ever. all in all, the bartenders are all incredible and nice... Crystal, Dani, Tami, Liam, Michelle... they are all amazing. they all have their perks, and if you aren't an asshole then they will soon be one of your new friends. they have a ton of dollar pool tables, but as many other people have mentioned, they do tend to fill up. The Huddle does have a lot of pool leagues that play out of it, but they only last for a few hours, usually from 7 to 10, or so. no more than 4 of the tables at a time are actually being used for league play, so just throw your quarters down, call next game, and hope the people at the tables aren't dicks. it's dive bar etiquette to be reasonable and not hog tables all night. they have 2 dart boards with a bunch of different game options that cost 50 cents per player, a touch tunes juke box with almost all the music you could hope for (although friday and saturday nights you tend to get people wandering in who play-next the shittiest rap and top-40 songs that make you want to punch the person standing next to you), and a video poker/picture hunt/game thingy. read more

This is a true dive bar. It's hidden in a strip mall. You must order beer. Don't try to be fancy. They have tons of pool tables and when I was here, they were having a tournament on some of the tables. I suspect this place to be crowded all the time regardless. Make no mistake, this is a dive bar. And it's a dive bar in a location near The Camp, The Lab, and some other areas that have slowly over the years became more upscale. The pool tables are plentiful. The staff is friendly, and they have hot pockets they will microwave for you, for a fee. The music is fun, and I believe it comes from the jukebox. Whether or not you have fun here depends on how much you lower your expectations, and the crowd on a particular night when you visit. read more

Stopped by with my sister for a memorial drink for our recently departed family dog. I haven't lived in OC since the 20th Century, so I had no clue about the bar scene. Suffice it to say, that the Camp (specifically Mesa) where we first attempted to go, is far too "bros and hoes" for my taste. I popped onto my dusty, trusty Yelp app and found "The Huddle" merely 350 feet away! Once we walked up and saw the strip mall storefront, we knew this was the dive bar we were looking for. When we walked in, The Huddle did not disappoint. This bar is full of community college drop outs and regular schmoes and gals. While there was still an element of Orange County douchbaggery, it was the kind that I could stomach, instead of the stripper heeled, fake boobs and sunglasses at night crowd at the other place. We grabbed a couple seats at the bar and had a couple of fair pours of Jameson and Woodford. I wouldn't call them generous, but they weren't measured either. Since there was only one bartender, service was super slow. I can't blame our bartender too much, since she was the only one working the bar, but I sure wish she would have filled up our drinks without us looking wistfully at her for ten minutes before having to yell out our order at her. There's lots of pool tables, darts, and pinball. Apparently you can get dinner here, as long as your idea of dinner is Hot Pockets and corn dogs. read more

By far my favorite dive bar. Strong drinks, lots of pool tables, great staff. I can come in dressed up or in my jammies and I'm comfortable. The bartenders and bar backs treat you like family and take the time to get to know you. I go in at least 2-3 times a week even if it's just to play pool. Inside is decorated with beer branded surf boards, lamps, and car hoods. Heavy metal pumps from the speakers. World's Wildest Police Chases and UFC fights play on alternate TVs.
