Went here for a friend's birthday. The place is cozy and welcoming. Service was superb, everyone was friendly and hyper attentive, without being overbearing. From drinks, to apps, to entrees, to dessert, there wasn't a single dish anyone didn't love. The octopus and bone marrow certainly stood out. I got the pork chop as an entree which was delicious. As fat as it was, it was still juicy and flavorful. Friends raved about the duck and the lamb special. Pasta dishes were also a big hit. We all shared one of each dessert. Amazing. The staff is wonderful, (especially Skye and Greg!) the food is incredible, and the restaurant itself is beautiful. We had a private dinner upstairs this past weekend and I cannot say enough good things. Appetizers - the oysters were fresh and delicious, the cheese plate abundant and with a nice assortment, the pumpkin seed burrata was out of this world. We had several different entrees- steaks, duck, the halibut special, short ribs, gnocchi to name a few. Everyone thought their dinner was the best one, there was no way to choose whose was better because they were all delicious. The desserts, if you have room, are fantastic. We had the most incredible dinner at The Hudson House last night. I wish I had taken pictures but I was enjoying myself too much and forgot! First, making reservations is a must so definitely call ahead. We sat at the bar and met the awesome bartender Greg. He introduced us to the owner who took time to talk with us and give us some history of the restaurant. We started with the charcuterie board which came with 3 cheeses, grapes, apples, toasted baguette and fig jam. It was delicious- especially the fig jam! For dinner I had the shrimp pasta and my friend had the gnocchi. My dish was incredible. The portion was generous and it has plenty of shrimp. My friends gnocchi was delicious with butternut squash and sage brown butter. We were not planning on dessert- we were stuffed. But were convinced to get something because the owner hand bakes it all! We got the peanut butter pie and then were brought a sample to try of one of the most popular desserts. OMG My new favorite place that's 45 minutes away!! This place was over the top good-dare I say it was great. It was everything we look for when going out. The service was quick and efficient just the way we like it. We had reservations and they had our table awaiting in an otherwise packed place. The drink was great, the appetizers (tuna poke) was the only thing that didn't blow me away. It was good but not great. The braised short ribs were the best I've ever had. Delicious and huge so the pups will be happy campers and most importantly not very fatty! My husband ordered the hanger steak - which was also excellent - highly recommended! The food is very good, and the service is good, but the busser acts like there's a plate shortage - looking to take your plate before you're done. The food, although cooked and seasoned well, is way overpriced, especially considering the location. If you sit outside, get an early reservation because the guys at Avispa, the Salvadoran market a few doors up the block, have a loud party on the sidewalk after closing, blasting music and talking trash. It has been a while since I last came to Nyak and had a good time at a good place, this was even before I joined Yelp. Finally, decided to meet up a long time friend who has lived in Nyak and knew the area very well. She suggested this place and I'm glad she did. Amazing food, we ordered a cheese platter which comes with cranberry (I think walnut?) bread and it was delicious. We were able to sit inside, there are clear panels in between "booths" so basically we are some sort of "distanced" from other people. Then we ordered some Scottish salmon I think that's the name, my friend ordered steak and we loved every single bite of it. My salmon was just exactly the way I asked, very well done. The host was really friendly and an amazing photographer, you should check out his work which is in almost every wall of the place, pretty cool. For dessert, I had the flourless chocolate cake which came with caramel topping and ice cream, GOSH!!!! AMAZING!!! Visited this weekend and loved it! Fiancé got short rib and I got the salmon. Both were cooked very well- I would say the short rib was the slightly tastier one of the two but I'm not a regular meat eater. The salmon was really good too but the short rib was juicy with an exceptionally good sauce. We also got the beet salad - everything in it was fresh! The pumpkin seeds added a nice texture. Ended it all with banana cream pie which was satisfying and not too sweet. We didn't realize that the man helping us in between our waiter was Matt Hudson! It was great to meet him and you could tell he cares a lot about his business. He provided us with great recommendations from the menu and even took our plates at some points. Our experience here was excellent! The burrata with nectarines had a lot of components- the nectarine, burrata, dehydrated sweet chips, greens, crusty bread- and it all worked together, though I would have chosen a different type of bread- maybe a sourdough. It was a little hard to bite through. The kids had chicken fingers and pasta, both good. They don't have a kids menu but they do make chicken fingers ($16) and French fries, and have pasta ($10) as well for kids. It's a little steep for chicken fingers, I'd suggest at a little honey mustard along with the ketchup. The chicken tenders also weren't really seasoned, a little salt on the meat would have made them better. The duck was cooked perfectly, I only wish there was more of it. The sweet potato purée complemented the meat, as did the greens. There was a small morsel of mushrooms with the duck - it's good we ordered a ($15) side of mushrooms. Portion could be bigger. The black bottom banana pie and crack pie were awesome- definitely order them! Overall, definitely a 5 star experience. They were busy but the waitress was attentive and checked on us often- great service too. We would recommend it and definitely hope to come again. read more

I haven't explored too much in Nyack, but can solidly recommend the Hudson House. The owner and his team present fine foods in an upscale establishment with attentive and impeccable service. The food looks and tastes great. Cocktails are done well - I had a couple old fashioneds. Apparently the owner takes the tame to personally make all of the desserts that are featured on the menu himself, and are made by scratch. We were treated to the opportunity for him to visit our table and explain each one of the seven or eight desserts that were available personally. I've been coming to The Hudson House for over 15 years. It is our place to celebrate special occasions: birthdays, anniversaries, new jobs, promotions. The cocktails are always on point, the food is consistently solid. I'm partial to the steak frites and the salmon. The special gnocchi is also very good. And of course there are the desserts. We've been known to order one of everything when we can't make up our minds. But what keeps us coming back over and over is Matt Hudson and his wonderful staff. Eating there is like having dinner at the house of an old friend who is always happy to see you. Oh and if you are ever lucky enough to be there when the homemade Oreos are on the menu, snatch them up! They are delicious.
