Ono Hawaiian food. What a wonderful surprise. The place just opened a couple of weeks ago so there are some things to refine but the food is excellent. When one walks into a sushi bar and sees three white guys behind the counter you do wonder but they "did the job". We've been on the coast for nearly a week and this was one of the best meals we had. Had lunch here recently. We would eat here more often if parking was easier. The food was once again excellent. We had two lunch specials, a spicy tuna roll and several nigiri sushi. Very delicious, large portions and made fresh to order as it must be. It's a small building and can be crowded and a bit on the slow side at times. IT'S WORTH THE WAIT! Besides being a place with excellent food, the owner is very generous and has helped our local veterans programs many times. My kind of place! read more

OMG, the food here is stellar. We had the volcano chicken, spicy crab roll, fries, and Hawaii macaroni salad. The volcano sauce is so flavorful and spicy, just perfect. The spicy crab roll featured large portions and great flavor. We liked the macaroni salad so much we ordered more for the road. We will be back when we're in the area. read more

I never leave reviews but this place was just too good not to! I just went there for the first time and it's officially my favorite restaurant on the Oregon coast. Personally, it really wasn't the best. First off, we waited 15-30 minutes before we even got our calamari appetizer. When we got it, the calamari was 12$ and came very, very salty. It tasted like they dumped half a bottle of soy sauce on the dish, it's definitely not worth the price. Then for the main dishes I got the "seafood dynamite" which tasted like a giant sushi roll, minus the roll part. It wasn't terrible but you might as well just get sushi. My sister got the chicken Alfredo which wasn't that great either. I tried some and thought it tasted like soap but she just said it tasted weird. Overall I wouldn't recommend. The waiters/ waitresses were nice though. read more

This sushi spot is my number one recommendation for exceptional quality of food and service. We came during covid so there was no dine in but the owners welcomed us in and gave us recommendations based on our taste. I would recommend the ahi tuna roll or anything with ahi tuna. Yum. We were having a sushi craving and it was well satisfied! The sushi was amazing! It took a little long getting out, but everything was also made right there. My mom informed the server about her being gluten free and ordered fries but was not informed about the fries being breaded. I had a custom roll made and it was amazing! Favorite place to eat in Florence, hands down! Sushi is absolutely delicious and Christian is always smiling and friendly. If you're not a sushi fan there are plenty of menu choices to satisfy everyone. If you are visiting from elsewhere do not fall in to the tourist traps and go to Mo's or ICM or you will regret it and wish you'd eaten here instead! read more

"I am so happy." My husband repeated that twenty times or more during our first inside visit in over 18 months. We have been taking orders to go during this pandemic once or twice a month. We live an hour away. It is well worth the drive. The food has been great but not as great as eating it fresh right there. We were there June 10th with a close friend. The food was superb and the staff was awesome. Two of us ordered from the specials menu and one from the regular menu. We each tasted each other's dishes. Yum! We got takeout from the Hukilau while stopping for the night in Florence on our first post Covid road trip. It was so good! They were super busy and it took a long time to get our food (over an hour) but it was worth the wait. They had only recently started indoor dining and sold out of some things that I'd ordered but called to let me know. I'm actually glad they didn't have everything I ordered because it would have been way to much food! I ordered the typical things I get when ordering sushi--an assortment of rolls and nigiri. This is fine in a typical sushi place that serves bite size pieces but at the Hukilau a piece of nigiri is at least 2 bites and a single specialty roll (Angry Dragon Roll I'm talking to you) could feed a family! That explains its $28 price tag! Everything was super fresh and delicious--even the next day (we had a lot of leftovers ). The spicy tuna roll was one of the best I've had. I would definitely go back the next time I'm in Florence--maybe eat inside the restaurant with its cute tiki aloha vibe--I'll just order a lot less. Yum! Yum! Yummmmm!!! Super happy to have found this Hawaiian joint in Florence. Our family had Korean tacos (tasty but smaller), mango something chicken heaven (sorry for lack of detail), and ma and pa's seafood soup. All three were waaaay delicious! Pork was way beyond"pulled"- it was mushy and soft. We pulled big gelatineouns blobs of fat out of the Pork -Yuck! The appetizer Beef yakatori as very good and tasty, but for the $7.95 price I would have expected at the very minimum 2 sticks of beef. it was 1 and about 2 bites of beef. What a wonderful gem to discover! We wandered in looking for a light lunch. The place was hopping so the only place for indoor seating was the sushi bar. We didn't mind! The service was amazing from the moment we stepped into the restaurant. I asked a couple questions about two draft beers and was given a sample! So nice and different from SLC! Everyone was incredibly friendly. While we waited to order we were served a picked cucumber & veggie salad that was so delicious! We ordered the poke to share and my husband had a bowl of the chowder (1/2 Manhatten 1/2 New England style) and then we also ordered an app special, the pork belly steamed buns. a lot of people say this place is good, and i do believe the food is, but today me and my family went to eat there and we waited a hour and a half, and no food, while all the other people that came in after us where getting there food, we were getting more hungry by the minute, my mom went to ask if the food was going to be done anytime soon and the lady who worked there acted like we WHERE BEING IMPATIENT EVEN THO WE WHERE WAITING FOR A HOUR AND A HALF. and yes i know there are not a lot of workers there working, but the waiters are just straight up rude, the bartender, blaze told us we had to leave because we where being rude and impatient even tho we where just asking when is the food done, i will NEVER eat there again, worst service in Florence ever. read more
