    Closet in the room
    Angie V.

This place was a great place to live! To start up this will be your place. It was only me and my husband and we leased here for a year. We rented a 1 bedroom apartment. It was small but we didn't have much. The rent was 1300$ monthly plus they will include the gas and water so roughly about 1350$ for just us two. Which is not bad. We wanted to live in Downey at first but everything is way more expensive. We stumble upon this place and the lady in the office was nice and helpful. We moved in as soon as the apartment became available. We got to see the apartment before it became remodeled. It was a mess before it had rug and an outdated heater. But she mentioned it was going to be remodeled to have wood floors which was modern and easier to clean. In the beginning everything was great , we didn't like that there was a closet in the living room. It looked like it used to be a studio made into a 1 bedroom. But she did say that couldn't be taken out. The kitchen doesn't have a fan for the smoke when you're cooking will disappear there was just this big hole on top of the stove for that purpose. The windows were outdated. They wouldn't close correctly I had asked for a replacement but they only replaced the bedroom ones. The whole house had blinds. It made it look very nice and clean. There was a big air conditioner in the living room and in the room. It had a heater setting as well. We never had to use it because we had our own heater. I forgot to mention the kitchen comes with a small little stove. Not full size. You can't bring your own. Which helped us because we didn't have anything at first. The hallway had a drawer that was built in. I would use to place my essentials and the towels over head. The restroom was my favorite the mirror was nice and clean and the lighting was good in there. It comes with is own shower rod which is a plus.it has ventilation in there. The only thing is that you could tell they painted over the bathtub because after awhile of being used the bathtub started peeling. I could no longer take baths there. The room at first looked very small but once we put our king size bed we had a lot of room left. The floor was nice and easy to clean. Ceiling fans are included in both living room and bedroom. Spacious closet in the room. Overall everything was good. After living there for quite awhile roaches started coming out. It was only me and my husband so we would hardly ever eat at home but they stared aiming out everywhere when you would turn on the hall way lights there they were. We used to have some downstairs neighbors who moved out shortly after we moved in that had a lot of roaches but they refused to exterminate they would just use raid which is not 100% efficient. So we believe they were migrating upstairs since all the apartments are connected somehow. The cleaning or manager of the property was involved in too many arguments that happened with neighbors. So unprofessional , I did speak to actual management about but it was not fixed. The pool on site is a big plus. Living there in the summer made it so much fun . We would have our friends over all the time. Most of the time there was no one there. Always empty. Well kept and clean. The have a little yard for your dog to pee or poop with trash cans on site. I would recommend this place to live. If you want a start up apartment for a couple this is the lake. Sadly we had to leave after our lease was up because we had a baby and she would eventually need a bigger place so she can walk and play. Or else we probably would have stayed lobger

    Mold

I lived here for a little over two years and had the worst experience! Apartment 109 closet has mold under the surface which ruined 8 pairs of shoes (management refused to reimburse me for the loss). They came and "cleaned it", by cleaning they wiped it down! There was constantly plumbing issues where the water was turned off almost once a week! There were leaks from upstairs neighbors, stuff coming up from the tub when I would get home from work. I finally moved out because paying over $1600 a month for a place that you always have issues at and caused me health issues due to the mold situations was not worth the stress. I received a check for partial of the deposit I gave upon the beginning of my lease. When I cashed the check it bounced 4 days later! This place has the worst management and maintenance that could careless about the health and safety of anyone living there. Collecting money but writing back checks. Ridiculous!!!

    The Roach problem
    Jessi C.

New Owners, New Management. Everything looked okay in the beginning ,but the new Management pretends to care and never answers or takes care of your concerns.. As soon is my lease is up I will be moving out. The pool has been out of order since last Summer. It took them 9 months to fix the security gates and doors. The roach probably is constant and not being addressed. Dirty walkways and walls are not my thing. But every time you mention something they say okay well take care of it. Were over this place I cant wait for my lease to be over.

    Renovated pool.

It's honestly refreshing to have maintenance actually answer emergency calls! Management is also very prompt and respectful of residents' privacy, even around shared spaces like the grill areas, pool and gym. The pool is always nice and clean, and the neighborhood itself is quiet and calm. Unfortunately, we are near an area where there's occasionally a lot of loitering and suspicious activity, so I definitely recommend not leaving personal belongings in your car or outside. My kids' bike was recently stolen because I left it out overnight. There is security walking around 24/7, but being in LA, thieves move fast.. so just stay vigilant like you would anywhere else in the city. Aside from that, my kids, my Betsy , and I are truly loving it here!

But ever since they hired security, it hasn't been a problem for the last two years. They even added locks to the dumpsters to prevent dumpster diving and from having people stay in there overnight. Overall, not a shabby place to live, especially as a first apartment!

One of the biggest highlights has been the maintenance team, especially Jose. He always goes above and beyond. I've had the pleasure of seeing him in action, whether it's fixing my circuit breaker, clearing shower drain issues, replacing A/C filters, or handling other maintenance requests. He's always knowledgeable, professional, and gets the job done right. The property itself is clean, well maintained, and the grounds are kept looking nice. The only downside is that the parking costs can be a little steep. That said, the overall experience has been positive. Having respectful, chill neighbors is definitely a bonus, and thankfully I've never had any major issues during my time here. If you're looking for a well kept community with a reliable maintenance team, I'd definitely recommend Altura at the Groves.

What I am leaving behind is: An extremely secure home (apartment), they use key-pods, not keys, it records everybody who opens a hall way door, any entrance or even the mail room. Cameras everywhere, guards cruise at night. And I'll miss the management group above all. Jake, Jeanette and the rest the team, they helped me with problems; when I lost the my key-pod, they generated another for me on the spot, when I lost the garage key, they got me another one, and so on. I have been living here for a very long time and when Fusion Property came in they raised the rent as they pleased, refused to do any upgrades in the apartment where I am living at, complaining about petty things due to Apartments image while outside light fixtures are broken and trash cans are filled to the top with trash bags all over, trash all over the apartment complex, apartments filled with about 6 or more tenants, favoritism toward a certain tenant who gets to park where ever she pleases, management never on site, you sign a contract with amenities that do not exist ( supposedly for a pool, pool hall, etc), etc. It is not worth living here, so if you can buy or rent somewhere else, please do. You can actually get a better home that you can own at the same price as these apartments. Fusion Property is used to having apartments in Beverly Hills, but I am sorry, this ain't Beverly Hills and they are what is called a company to only screw people for money, aka "Leeches". The turn around rate in these apartments is bad, so that should tell you something about this place. Don't lease here!

I hated the thought of moving out, I was comfortable with the location, but I didn't have a choice. From the day I moved in, the apartment was not properly cleaned, the stove was filthy and clearly hadn't been moved or cleaned in a long time, with trash underneath it. I refused to use it and ended up buying my own stove. The kitchen cabinet door fell off as soon as I opened it, maintenance was quick to respond but the work they did was questionable, they clearly "mickey mouse" repairs. The laundry room was consistently an issue, washing machines were often broken and some of the dryers barely dried clothes. What pushed me to move out was the ongoing roach problem we had for months that was never fully resolved despite multiple treatments. As someone with a severe phobia, this situation caused stress and anxiety, and it made it very difficult for my family to feel safe and comfortable in our own home. I had to pack all of my belongings to allow treatment inside my home multiple times. Per management (Wendy), if this wasn't done, treatment wouldn't be successful. Towards the end, I had given up. I was so exhausted, so I kept my things packed away in containers. I was hardly home and stopped using my kitchen or eating there. According to Wendy, 20+ roaches hiding under the baseboards, behind my fridge and outlets isn't an infestation. I hired my own pest control and they confirmed there was an infestation in the BUILDING which caused these insects to crawl in from the walls and drains. I only lived here for a year, yet, this was one of the most distressing living experiences I've ever had, and I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially families. Wendy, you lack experience, professionalism and empathy. I really tried working with you but you're a very stubborn and unreliable person. You're never in the office, either on vacation or taking care of a "private" family matter. I stopped fighting you because of the panic attacks I was having due to my living situation, but you need to understand that what you did to me was morally wrong. You tried blaming me for an infestation that has been ongoing for years. You claimed no one else complained of roaches, but you lied. All of these pictures were sent to you and you let my children and I live in this filth until our lease was over.
