There are not enough wonderful things to say about out this place. The service was wonderful. Our waitress came in and explained how everything worked. There's a little bell if we needed anything. The waitress came in after each tier to give us the next tier of food. I loved that we got our own private suite. The decor was gorgeous. When we had signed up for tea time, I had let the staff know about dietary restrictions, which the waitress knew about. We also let them know that we had come for our anniversary, and the staff made it so special by having a cute little sign on our table. Every course comes with its own tea. Just the teas themselves were incredible. I couldn't have enough of the tea. The pot was kept warm as well on our table. All of the food was absolutely delicious. I also loved that the price you pay for the experience is the total price-tax and tip were included in the price. I would highly recommend coming here for a tea experience. read more

The Ivy Tearoom provides a good high tea experience with uniquely decorated private rooms. I just prefer St. James and La Quinta more. I think part of the reason for this preference is the disconnect between the expected and actual experience. With the Ivy Tearoom's unique private rooms (and price), I expected an elevated experience like St. James and La Quinta. The food is delicious but feels like what you would make at home. They have a suggested pairing for each course but you can switch it out for a different tea on their expansive menu if you would like. My first time at The Ivy Tearoom, and it was meh. In short, I'm not a fan of paying nearly $50 in advance for what seems like grocery store food and tea. The deets follow. After being seated, our party of four waited a long while before someone popped her head into our seating area to direct our attention towards the menus. The Tearoom offers a curated three-course tea as well as a lengthy menu of options to substitute from. We all said we'd like the curated tea and some water, but the staff person said she'd come back in a while after we had some time to look at the menu. Hmmm. Another ten minutes passed before a different staff person returned with glasses of water. She listened when we repeated that we'd like the menu on offer and returned with the first pot of tea. After a while she brought the first course of a scone and savory strata. The scone was dry. Meh. The strata, though, was tender and flavorful. Then came the second course of tea sandwiches. My, my, meh. A slice of mass-market white bread with butter and cucumber slices. A slice of mass-market wheat with something pasty, sprinkled with what seemed like garlic sesame bagel topping. If there was a third savory, I don't remember it. The tea with this course tasted exactly like Harney & Sons Paris blend. Desserts were a mini chocolate and toffee trifle, a brownie-like confection, and a red velvet mini Bundt cake. Meh. The tea for this course was a basic rooibos blend. But maybe I was already over it when this course was served. It was many minutes before staff appeared to ask if we'd need anything further, like boxes. So, the final calculus...a cute room, inattentive staff, expensive. I'm not convinced, but everyone needs their own experience, so I'd say " Go. Enjoy your tea." We brought my best friend here for a mini baby shower celebration. We had wonderful service, we were the only people here on a Friday evening, had delicious tea paired well with food, dessert, and a fun little shop. We loved our little room that was just for us and every thing was so well thought out. I am also really excited they allow kids at certain times because my son has been asking to go. read more

Apparently this place has been there for a while and regardless of the number of times I drove by I never noticed. There aren't really any signs. That said it's adorable and nicely decorated inside. You get a couple of hours with multiple courses in your own private room. They have recommendations for the tea pairings with the various courses but you can choose your own and there's one heck of a selection. The staff is knowledge and will give you recommendations on what (if anything) to add to your tea to really bring out the flavor as far as cream and sugar goes. We did the non-alcoholic service and the food and tea were both amazing. There was plenty of food in the three courses. They have limited ability to accommodate dietary needs, but were able to do this for just one member of our party without forcing the others that ad no restrictions to that particular menu item. I grew up down the way from this tearoom. I have driven down 4th street several times and had no idea this was an actual tearoom. My girlfriend and I went for an early holiday celebration. We were checked in and led to our private room. The rooms are so warm and comfortable and you feel like you are the only ones in the place. We were immediately greeted by our waitstaff and she brought our first tea and some goodies to go along with it. The whole experience was really wonderful. We had three settings of tea paired with three different courses. All were paired perfectly. I ordered a glass of champagne for a toast. You are scheduled for a two hour time slot. Absolutely lovely time today at the Ivy Tearoom. I had never been to a proper tearoom before. We were greeted warmly and shown to our room. We had three services, each were absolutely wonderful. We went with the suggested pairings for each service. The scones in the first serving were so wonderful with lemon cream and raspberry jam. My favorite of the second serving was the egg salad on croissant bread. In the final serving, they even put a candle in for a birthday in our group. The room was well lit, with tall windows, but we were able to draw the draperies to keep the sun out of our eyes. It was so quiet, I forgot there were a number of other rooms occupied. This afternoon my two nieces and I had an absolutely wonderful High Tea in our private garden igloo! It was cold outside, but warm and toasty inside - we didn't need to turn on the heater. We wore masks into the lobby of the Ivy Tea Room to get our temperatures taken, and to find out which of 3 igloos was ours. Once seated in our beautifully decorated room, we took off our masks only while alone, eating and drinking. We used our smart phones to download the menu of teas and edibles. We only changed one of the recommended teas - Unicorn tea for our 2nd course instead of Dream Catcher. No food was changed for any of the 3 courses. Each time our tea and edibles were delivered, masks were on, and we were introduced to all of our edibles. We had so much food that we took home three small boxes. We were so full! All three pots of tea were delicious, and we finished most of them. Our first tea, Ivy, needed no sugar or cream. It was aromatic and sweet. The Unicorn Magic tea really did taste like fruit loops! We didn't see the sprinkles, but it did shimmer. The Maple Caramel Donut tea was as sweet as a donut, and smelled divine. The vanilla mousse and raspberry jam were sweet and excellent additions to the raspberry white chocolate chip scones and sour cream & cheddar Japanese style breads in our first course. No leftovers! For the second course, my 11 year old niece loved the open faced cucumber sandwiches, eating 2 of the 3. Her mom and I loved the egg salad on English muffin. Each of us eagerly devoured the fantastic mini Waldorf chicken salads in sesame seed shaped baskets. We had no room for the spinach and artichoke puff pastries. They'll be snacks tonight, along with the 3rd cucumber sandwich and 3rd egg salad on English muffin. The third course was decadent desserts: Ivy Earl Grey Blondies (only one was homebound), mini vanilla cones filled with blueberry mouse (all packed up for home), and brown butter birthday cake macaroons (one leftover). We were pleasantly & delightedly stuffed!! The women and young gentleman delivering our tea and food were masked, friendly, and terrific! We never had to use the call button for anything. The pace was perfect. After our 90 minute tea time, we paid our bill inside and took a tour of the rooms inside (closed due to CoVid). Each was magnificently decorated. We will return after the pandemic to take tea in at least four of the rooms that tantalized us - especially for one or more birthdays!! read more

I brought my daughter here for her 28th birthday, neither of us had ever been to a tea house before but I knew that she would love the experience. We got the room with the "Barbie pink" curtains and pillows that another reviewer complained about and my daughter could not have been more pleased! Our server Shawna was friendly and made us feel right at home. The food was just the right portions and delicious. We had the Tipsy Tea and chose Mimosas and Bellinis, my daughter had the passion fruit and I had the peach. The two hours that I thought we would never need went by so fast. I had been here once before and it was a relatively positive experience. The tea was pleasant and the snacks served were okay. Its more about the ambiance than the tea and food. The other tea rooms in town are much better in their quality and service. I planned to have an afternoon tea for my birthday here. Unfortunately, I tested positive for COVID-19 two days before my reservation. I made multiple attempts to contact and never received a response. I was very ill during these attempts to reach them. They state that when you call their number that they do not actively answer the phone. They suggest you leave a voicmail, send a text, or email them. I was so ill that even finding the energy to call them was difficult. I then sent a text message. Never received a response, then attempted to call and text again the day of my reservation. I still haven't received a response from either text message from two months ago. I would have been happy with any response from them and even an apology for not being able to help me in my situation. They are non-responsive. I attempted to dispute the charge as I tried to contact them multiple times and the merchant never responded to me. They conveniently left out the fact that they do not respond to their customer messages. My takeaway is that they do not want to communicate with their customers and have no COVID-19 policies in place. I guess the best thing I could have done was go in and spread my illness to them and attend my reservation. read more

We had high expectations given the reviews. But it didn't start off great or end great. It started with us trying to add a person to our reservations but they don't allow you to do it over the phone - you have to email them, but they don't respond to emails. So no change allowed but there was nobody there so plenty of space and should've been able to accommodate but we didn't even get the option. So really disappointed. We get there and it starts off ok. The service is good while they are bringing out each course, but they only bring out one small pot of tea for 4 people. This is supposed to be high tea, a two hour experience. But, If you only have one small pot of tea for each course, two hours is a long time waiting for the next course with empty pots. They should give you at least one refill. So, In between the first two courses we asked if we could get the leftovers boxed and they were great and boxed them for us right away. But then when they were done serving us the last course we had leftovers again, but waited and waited and waited. They never came out again. We finally had to go to the front desk and ask them to box our leftovers but they just handed us boxes to do it ourselves. Service was definitely over in their eyes even though we weren't even close to the two hours... Ok now let's talk about the presentation. After each pot of tea, they'd leave the empty pot on the table - leaving the table crowded and messy. Then the silverware...they were gold but painted over with the paint completely rubbing/chipping off. They don't give you clean plates for each course because they say they are conserving staff time so no clean plates. So you're left with cream and jam smeared all over your plate and trying to keep your savory food aside. It's crazy. Then to add the cherry on top, they served paper packets of sugar not sugar cubes. Really, this not what you'd expect for a tea experience and $45/ person. They definitely were cutting corners and going cheap. The potential was there but they just didn't execute and really left us disappointed. I would say you're better off at St James. read more

My mother, brother and I go to tea once a month. We decided to try Ivy Tearoom. The food is obviously tray made, which is ok except that it does not look as refined as it should for tea. The food is sub par and sickenly sweet. The ambiance is like Barbie decorated it herself. The pillows and shades are filthy. The tea itself was good. We will NEVER return. It reminds of a tea room a 12 year old playing tea would do for her friends, with her making the food herself. Perfect if that is what you are looking for. read more

My visit to the tea room was absolutely MAGICAL. As I entered the property I couldn't help but notice the decorated igloos for tea time in the garden area. It was a beautiful day and I could see what a treat that would be. My next booking must be in the igloos! I booked the Pink Parlor Room upstairs because it was large and was told at booking it had the most amazing views. The room and view did not disappoint. As I was escorted to our tea time in Pink Parlor Room my eyes were drawn to the beautiful stairway and it's gorgeous detail. I felt like I was in a movie and remember thinking this would be the scene to enter into heaven. Magical! I failed to get a photo to share of the lighting (how annoying)! I am in love with the unique detail of each room and appreciate the elegance that is just one part of the experience. Our afternoon tea was brought up quickly after a detailed explanation of the teas and process to develop the perfect tea. Enlightening, apparently I have been over steeping my tea all my life. My favorite tea was the Unicorn Magic. It was deliciously fruity and delicate white tea blend with a literal sparkle infusion. I'm not making it up, it was sparkly! The egg salad is my favorite. It was fresh, creamy and smooth. Yum! I want the recipe. The tea time we booked was for 3 hours and it was perfect to catch up with the gals and also delight in the entire experience. We all felt like princesses and with our busy work and home lives we enjoyed having the opportunity to be served like princesses too. The staff nailed our experience and the were enthusiastic despite our endless questions. The Ivy Tearoom was an absolutely magical, unique and luxurious experience to share with my gals. I have to say today's visit exceeded all of my expectations! Everything was excellent, exquisite, and phenomenal! I wanted to go somewhere that was actually open for a unique dining experience, and this place just went above and beyond all of my hopes. Since we were unable to dine inside (due to the governor's mandates), the tearoom provided outdoor igloos that were adorable! They were each neatly decorated and had individual heaters! The furniture was adorable, and the decor was just so stunning. It literally transported you to a tranquil and luxurious atmosphere setting. The property itself is overall stunning!!! Due to our party size, the tearoom used the recommended teas for our tea party, but they were absolutely delicious! I literally loved each and every treat we were served! The food was absolutely phenomenal! The raspberry chip scones and jam were scrumptious! The spinach and artichoke pastry were delicious, and I absolutely adored the birthday macaroon! Even the lavender blondie was absolutely delightful! I mean you couldn't have had a better experience! Every aspect was perfect!! The girl who brought our tea was super nice and just incredibly welcoming! We will definitely be back! After looking at some of the rooms inside, I will definitely come back when the restaurants open for indoor dining, but if it doesn't happen soon we will definitely celebrate our next special event there in the igloo again!! My daughter and I had a Galentine's tea at The Ivy Tearoom. We were in one of the private alcoves with a glorious view of the Sandias. The teas we tried were good. I was surprised by the white tea we chose--I usually prefer black teas, but the white tea was delicious. The small bites were good and varied, and perhaps my favorite thing is that the private spaces meant that we could truly enjoy ourselves in a quiet, restful way. Shawna (going forth with confidence, assuming I spelled her name right) is ACES. Hospitality is every bit as important as the food, drink and ambiance at The Ivy Tearoom. Service was prompt, attentive, generous and thorough. I asked for an alt milk and Shawna brought the option immediately; as she presented the creamer, she informed us the product contained milk, noting she had reviewed the ingredient list due to some dairy sensitivities. Individual suites assigned based on reservation time and guest number. Highlighting the consideration given to each party, these independent rooms are separated by actual walls and doorways, not just a large room divided into parts by curtains; not one guest crosses into another party's space. This attention to privacy is given to every aspect of an afternoon tea service, down to the call button installed in every suite. Spaces are decadent with velvet, Crystal-esque chandeliers, plush pillows and armchairs for lounging. Each course is served with the same attention to detail. Rather than presenting dishes on three tiers, each course crowded on a plate together, individual courses are brought out separately with each dish on its own plate. The net result, food a the right temperature, at the peak of freshness and with the best texture. The strata is plated only with other strata, which is delightfully springy and tender. This month's goat cheese and sun dried tomato variation presented a custardy, savory, salty and acidic bite with a perfect crispy accent from the cheese on top. Our favorite was the cucumber sandwich; the thinly sliced cucumbers over herb aioli atop the most luscious white bread could have comprised the entirety of the food during the service and we would have been happy. The teas are perfectly curated for each course and are subtle enough to leave the palate clear to enjoy the flavors of the dishes. Looking forward to the next visit, hopefully in the spring, in one of the cottages in the courtyard. Sadly, we captured one picture which does not do the China justice. One of my girlfriends treated me to a Tea at the Ivy Tearoom. We had our own private space, which was delightful for conversation. The teas offered were delicious and each came with a different recommendation from our server as far as how to whether to add milk or sugar. I was surprised to see adult beverages on the menu and had a tasty mixed concoction. There are three courses, including appetizers, savories and desserts. I'm a huge fan of St. James, and while I made the obvious comparison, I found The Ivy Tearoom to be just as uniquely charming The decor is modern and lavish. All of the rooms were beautiful, colorful, and inviting. I took so many photos because it was just gorgeous and is any girly girl's decor dream. The food and its presentation was great. I loved the whole menu from start to finish. The service was great, and the staff members were friendly and polite. This is modern tea time. This was my first time trying this place with a friend and her mom. I have tried St.James a couple of times and I really like that place. The Ivy Tearoom is a lot more modern when it comes to their decor. Staff were friendly and I enjoyed the teas and food. What I really liked about them is that they show us the current month's menu and if we don't like the current teas, they gave us an option to choose other teas to replace the current ones. What I liked about St. James more than The Ivy is that St. James has a story behind the entire tea experience and they choose their menu very carefully based on the months theme. I also believe they have more food, it is also a little pricier than Ivy. It seems to me that it is a bit more traditional while Ivy is more modern. Either are great options but it just depends on what your personal preference is, whether you want a modern feel or a story and an experience. read more

I was pleasantly surprised at how charming the inside of this small 4th street building is. The atmosphere is great, with chic high-back chairs, and charming decor. We had reservations in the "Alice" room, and while it clearly drew inspiration from the story, it was still very modern and classy. The tea was wonderful. We had Lemon Meringue Pie, Dreamcatcher, and a Coconut Black Tea. The food was good. Our favorites were the freshly toasted bagel with egg salad, and the ice cream cone dessert cup filled with cream and topped with sprinkles. Yum! The rooms were a little too open for my taste. While they are arranged well, these old rooms with wood floors are acoustic and its hard not to hear everyone's conversations. Still a wonderful value. We will be back! read more
