This is a delicious spot for Tacos, Tostadas and Quesadillas. It's at a bar so it's not kid friendly but they have delicious cocktails! The tacos are pretty pricey- I got the oyster mushroom and seasonal veggie which come on a tortilla the Size of your palm for $6 each. People in my group got Al pastor, shrimp with crickets (their surf and turf) and shrimp. They sell out of tacos so my husband didn't get what he wanted but enjoyed other options. The cocktails were amazing. It's a really cute bar on 4th street with a super classy feel on the inside. To order you go up to the bar and they hold onto your card. They have a server come to your table to deliver you food and check on you- Veronica was wonderful! Super attentive and explained all of the tacos and encouraged us to try new ones. The place has a totally cozy vibe and the staff is incredibly friendly. Prices are also very reasonable. I hadn't seen a spot like this in downtown Reno before. I was visiting Louie's with my girlfriend, having a Picon punch... She noticed The Jesse across the street and said "hey what's that?" As someone who had been coming to Reno for years, I had no idea. We looked it up, and decided we had to stay in Reno extra night just to explore... Estelle, the bar and restaurant at the Jesse, is an absolute gem. This place takes tacos seriously, it's tequila seriously, and it's Mixology and cocktails very seriously. The decor inside is very modern and very hip with a multitude of seating areas, including an outside patio, a front lounge area with couches, the bar, and some high tops. The clientele was very young and very hip, and it was very vibrant and full on a Thursday night. it has a parking lot next to the hotel, which is very convenient. The bartenders were very skilled, and took a lot of pride in their work. I highly recommend this establishment for food and or drinks. It will not disappoint... My husband and I are both fully vaccinated and were looking forward to coming here for a date night with food and drinks in the patio. When we arrived at the patio entrance a couple days ago, a sign indicated that all orders must be placed inside at the bar. When we walked inside fully masked, we were surprised to find the bar packed with people! There was a little space in the middle of the bar with menus to place orders and we waited a few feet behind the people ahead of us placing theirs. When we finally got to the bar, it took many minutes before we were even acknowledged -- with three people working behind the bar. It was so busy! One very important, better-than-the-rest-of-us, man slipped to the side of the bar and placed his order while we were patiently waiting along with the people in line behind us. We finally placed our order of chips and salsa, three tacos, a cinnamon margarita, and an IPA. We received the basket of chips and drinks while at the bar. I took the chips and went outside to the comfy couch area and waited for my husband. Many minutes later, he finally came out with our drinks and a number for our taco order. He said it took that long just to pay our bill. After that, we finally had an enjoyable date and didn't wait too much longer for our tacos. I hate to say this, but I woke in the middle of the night feeling very sick and spent all day yesterday ill. I am thinking it was either my cinnamon margarita or taco because my husband has been fine. I am sad about our whole experience - from Covid protocol not being followed, to the way they handled orders, to end up feeling sick - because we previously have enjoyed our experiences at The Jesse. read more

The Jesse : hotel and Bar The Jesse is one of my favorite bars in Reno. I love to come in and grab a few cocktails now and again. Finally my fiancé and I decided to schedule a staycation. This was an amazing decision! The room was breath taking! The small touches are what really made it. There were bathrobes, makeup wipes, and little bottles of champagne. It was wondering being able to head down to the bar, hangout, bar hop, and then stroll back for a good nights sleep. The bed is so comfy! The bar serves coffee starting at 8am on the weekends. I would recommend getting the cold brew or an kat milk latte. The Jesse is dog friendly, so we were able to bring our pups into the bar while we had some cocktails. Certain rooms are dog friendly. Make sure to check with Piper, when you book. Parking is limited. I would recommend getting there around 3-4pm to secure a spot. Estella : We ordered delicious tacos at the bar, during our staycation. Estella is my favorite Reno taco joint! I recommend the fish! These pair perfectly with a margarita! What are you waiting for!? I have to give these guys 1000 star review for customer service. I had dropped my wallet outside, upon review of the security footage we saw the guy who took it. Using find-my and my air tags, the owner and manager hopped in my car; drove with me 7 miles to find the guy, and we got my wallet back. Aside from this awesome act of service. The Jesse, as hard as it is to find parking around, is delicious! The order and pay dining is very interesting as well as the seating but my food was delicious! The shrimp tostadas and chips and salsa were delicious and packed with flavor. I am left craving it every time I leave. Seating is all outside, food is made fresh, they have a different build for beverages and the as aesthetic is nice! St Patrick's day seemed like a great day to book a hotel on 4th street. We could enjoy Tour de Brews and walk to our room. We were right! The brewery district had many fun events and right on the west end is The Jesse Hotel and Bar and Estella restaurant. Our room was extremely well designed. The old brick is the perfect frame for the picture they paint with light wood floors and bed. The bathroom has white tile with a walk-in shower. All body and hair products are in wall mounted dispensers. No small bottles in the trash here. On site parking lot, Estrella tacos and a full service bar make this an easy decision for a return visit. There was not anything we would change about our visit. Take a weekend and spend it at The Jesse. Enjoy the area and downtown. read more

We recently stopped in here for a quick drink and upon walking in I felt like I was not cool enough for this place lol but the bartenders were so nice and welcoming that it put my mind at ease quickly. They gave us so good recommendations. We tried El Valiente made with chocolate and orange bitters. It was strong which made me feel like I was getting my money's worth! I loved the subtle chocolate flavor. We also rolled the dice and let the bartender decide on a drink and he made us a type of old fashioned. I forget the details but it was good! We mentioned that we were celebrating our 15th an over and they were so nice to offer us a complimentary pour. A year ago my husband and I stayed at The Jesse on our wedding weekend in the Parke room and had a fantastic time. The rooms are so clean and clearly put together with the utmost attention to detail. Last night we returned to celebrate our one year anniversary with drinks and had an absolutely amazing time. Since the change in ownership and the complete change in menu the food has really gone downhill. Ordered stuffed grape leaves and the leaves themselves were very undercooked. Ordered the lamb kebabs for dinner and upon cutting into them I realized the ground lamb was still completely raw in the middle. Hummus appetizer was passable I suppose. My wife and I stopped here a little before 3pm on a Sunday. We were actually planning to try Estella Tacos Y Mezcal but could not figure out how to get to it. So, we went into The Jesse to check it out. The Jesse gets it's name from Jesse Lee Reno, the Union Civil War General for whom Reno is named. Jesse L Reno was killed in the battle of South Mountain. Part of our problem is that we parked on Evans Avenue between 4th and 5th. We found out that if you enter through The Jesse, there is access from the back of The Jesse or if you drive down 4th, there is a parking lot with access to both. They share an outdoor open space which is fenced and has seating. There were quite a few people hanging out inside in the main room with the bar area. The bar is right in front of you when you walk in. There are multiple places to sit and relax. We really loved the exposed brick and industrial look. There is another room to the left of the entrance just past the restrooms with additional seating. This is also the way you get to the outdoor seating area, parking lot and Estella Tacos Y Mezcal. There are Mexican blankets in a basket by the door which we assume to be used for people sitting outside. We had a seat at the bar at two open seats and checked out what they had. My wife ordered the Eighty-Nine Eleven cocktail and I ordered a Revision IPA. The bartender was really friendly and took good care of us newcomers. My wife was amazed with the flavor of her drink and would never have ordered anything with gin but she really loved it! We both used the restrooms which were very clean and we were surprised to see that they use actual towels for drying your hands. We let them know they were running low in one of the restrooms and out of them in the other. Overall it was a great experience and is a beautiful and comfortable place to enjoy some drinks with your significant other or a group of friends or family. We also think it would be a fun place to do a staycation or for out of town folks to enjoy while in the area. They have six hotel rooms on the floors above. read more

Room was clean and spacious, very noisy however. They provided a white noise machine and earplugs for traffic noise, it's on a corner across from a motor cycle bar and there must be a "please rev your engine" sign at the stoplight. But that wasn't even the worst of it, they allowed an unattended dog to remain in a room across the hall barking constantly from 5pm until 11:30pm despite having been informed of the situation. Very sad for the dog. Also, no elevator in the building so hauling suitcases up two flights was a pain. read more

What used to be an old building has been transformed into a beautiful boutique hotel. The lobby is welcoming and stylish and the outdoor area is small, enjoyable... but a little noisy. The street noise and ambiance music make it a little loud and uncomfortable to carry a conversation. On the plus side, it's very lush, romantic and the heaters keep it cozy. The staff is fun, friendly, and aim to please and make the experience unforgettable. Lo, the bar manager and mixologist extraordinaire, has created delicious cocktails inspired by Nevada history. The Jesse put together a Spooky Story and Autumn Cocktails events that I was lucky to attend. Besides enjoying some scary-good urban myths told by the very entertaining Lo, I had the pleasure to sample the fall cocktail menu: Evil Personified - Mezcal, ancho reyes chile liquor, pumpkin and lime. The Forbidden Love - Tequila, cassis, hibiscus tea syrup, ginger beer. Gold Digger - Bourbon, coffee liquor, dark chocolate liquor, and bitters. Never Leaving Reno - Pisco, turmeric syrup, lime, pineapple juice. 344 Feet Below - Absolut elyx and prosecco. Queen of the Comstock - Rum, jagermeister, ginger liquor, giffard banana and lime. We did not stay at the Jesse, merely came by for a dish + dram for the Yelp Whiskey Hunt. Therefore, I am not giving you a review on the boutique hotel, just a review for the lobby/bar/living area. The space is hip, stylish, and a tad retro all while being located in a beautiful brick building with lots of greens to soften the look. The staff is just as hip and stylish, especially the ever congenial Lo, bar manager and mixologist extraordinaire. Come for a drink, stay for a spell and enjoy the company and the comfy seating. Stay a while longer and head back to Estella for some fine looking tacos which can be enjoyed at the taco bar or on the beautiful courtyard. I'll definitely be back to try those tacos! read more

I forgot to take pictures of the food which is a bummer. We had Fish, Carnitas and Mushroom tacos all were really good! We also had a Quesadilla and Shrimp Tostada! Service was great even if it's a counter service style they hustle! We ate inside the Jesse which is a cool old building in Reno... good and bad is the show that happens outside the windows. Definitely entertaining. The only reason I didn't give it 5 star is because of the Salsa with the Chips was just ok and the Quesadilla was more like Enchiladas. While on the Whiskey Hunt in between moving, my wife and I decided to stop by and try the place out. First off, the staff is so friendly that they make you want to come back just to talk to them. The place is a bit stark, as in really, really white. Not a bad thing mind you, just a little bit too white. I guess that is a minor beef, but a little bit of color would make the place a bit more inviting. While there was no food available at the time, that's not why we went there, we went for the drinks and in this case, the Uncle Nearest 1856 Premium Whiskey. It is my favorite so far although to be fair, it was only the sixth one I've tried on the hunt. Will absolutely come back, especially later in the day when food is available. read more

I stayed for one night at The Jesse and I was very worried about the neighborhood but the bar is amazing, safe and has a beautiful outdoor patio/garden area where amazing Mexican inspired eats are delivered to your table. The bar tenders at The Jesse are kind, funny and offer you unique cocktail experiences which force you out of your comfort zone but that you discover you LOVE! The hotel rooms are the best in Reno. I made a reservations early this morning when I drove to the hotel i noticed the place was surrounded by homeless people there were several at the front door. I did not FEEL SAFE here, so I found another Hotel and made an attempt to get a refund and I was denied a refund They claim to have a 24 hour cancellation policy, but how can I give you 24 hours when I just booked the room four hours ago? read more

Wow wow wowww!! I've been wanting to come here since first hearing about the Jesse during the Good Spirits event in June. The transformation from the Lincoln Lounge to the Jesse is amazing!! A friend and I sat at the bar, I ordered lovers lane, you get a little capsule to pour into the pretty lilac colored drink. On a Friday after work it was busy but there was still plenty of seating. The restrooms are even neat, there's cloth hand towels with a basket upon using and hand gel pumps. I would love to plan a "staycation" one day to experience the hotel. My friend and I were commenting that we would never know we were so close to downtown. The patio itself was chill vibe and felt like we stepped away to another city! This is just for the bar. Since we live Downtown, I don't think we would take advantage of the hotel part of the business - though it really looks like the type of place I would LOVE to stay in. The bar is lovely. It is clean and modern, but has the ambiance of hotel bars from an era long ago - 1920 meets 2020. We stopped in for a quick drink - beer for my sweetie, sparkling water for my friend on a cleansing diet, and a glass of "Glup", a light but rich red wine made from the Cinsault grape. It tasted a bit like a pinot, but with a hint of cinnamon. This particular wine comes Chilie and was a definite treat. I think it would probably wait well with the Tacos available from Estellas. I liked it so much I had a second glass. The staff were friendly and knowledgable about their wines. The cocktails being created looked luscious and are a definite possibility for a return visit. And yes, I do plan to return - to sample some of the buzz worthy tacos from next door, have a fabulous cocktail or perhaps sip another glass or two of the amazing "Glup". read more
