We sat at the bar and got to order some off menu stuff that they are working on. Paul was our bar tender, he is awesome. We talked about the different types of Mezcal and tequilas that they offer. We also had some of the tacos from Estella as well, carnitas and Al Pastor. So good! I'm glad they were able to re open this area and it went though an awesome renovation since Lincoln lounge. The feel of the place is relaxing with a great Ambience. This really is a great place for date night, girls night out or simply a place to grab a drink. It's worth a visit. read more

My boyfriend, dog, and I had the BEST experience here. We booked through Hotel Tonight and called ahead of time to make sure they knew we were bringing our dog. I spoke with Piper, one of the owners, who was so nice and made sure we were in a dog friendly room. We parked in their parking lot to the left of the entrance. You walk into the bar and talk to any of the bartenders to get you checked in and show you to the room. The room was so nice with a super comfortable bed and really nice shower. Dino was given his own bed (which he didn't end up using ) and a water/food bowl for our stay. We stayed in the "Parke" room which was right above the bar facing the street. You can hear music and the street a bit, which we didn't mind, and which meant we could play fetch in the room without worrying about being a nuisance. They have a restaurant attached which makes amazing Mexican food, the drinks at the bar were delicious, and the bartenders were all really nice. We stayed on a night that had a live DJ that was really good as well. They have a little coffee/tea area on the second floor that has a Nespresso machine and a hot water maker. In the morning we went downstairs to check out and found Piper at the bar where she made us some great lattes on their La Marzocco (fancy latte machine) an oat milk latte for my boyfriend and a regular one for me. There weren't a lot of places for Dino to go the bathroom but there was a small patch of dirt in the parking lot that we took him to during our stay. We will definitely come back to Reno if not only to stay here again! read more

Uncle Nearest 1856, a maple charcoal filtered whiskey, has a very molasses/ brown sugar flavor and for 100 proof whiskey is extremely smooth. The bartenders are super nice and tell great stories. This was my husband and I's second stop on the whiskey hunt. The whiskey we had here was Uncle nearest 1856 and it was delicious!! It is a Maple charcoal filtered whiskey that was very smooth! You could taste the Maple in it with each sip. For being 100 proof it didn't burn at all which was nice . Along with your shot of whiskey you get a little sample of corn which is cold and kind of resembles street corn. Our bartender was super friendly and told us the story behind the whiskey. The old Lincoln Lounge has been BEAUTIFULLY transformed into a nearly unrecognizable little bar and boutique hotel. The main lobby where the bar is was very aesthetically pleasing and peaceful looking with a clean simple and modern aprons he to design with some beautifully curated greenery everywhere. I opted for the Camel Race Hoax as a suggestion from the bartender and I was not disappointed. The drink was light and refreshing with different depths of flavors. I loved all the descriptions of the drinks rather than just telling you the ingredients and the glassware and presentation of he cocktail was fun and quirky while still remaining upscale. We decided to check out the patio area, and were disappointed to find out that they had removed the outdoor bar. The outdoor area was nice, but seated on the benches near the street, there was a lot of noise coming from Evans Ave. On top of the undesirable street noise, the music outside was very loud and off brand with the rest of the vibe here. Eventually the sensory overload drove us back inside and from there we left. Overall, I think that the Jesse has been really nicely remodeled and I like the upscale casual vibe of the inside, but the outside left me disappointed. read more

This is a really cool spot to drink and eat, either inside or out. Had the house margarita which is great especially with their great food. The Caesar salad had a very good combination of lettuce and pickled treats on it. The star of the show for me are the tacos of course. Ordered the Al Pastor which just melted in my mouth with incredible flavors. This is my favorite taco and I have had them all with not a bad one yet. We have tried to find better tacos in town but just keep coming back here. Enjoy. read more

this is one of the coolest places to hang out and all of Reno for sure sure. At the Jessie itself you have a lovely café during the daytime run by Kyle who is a super awesome, magnanimous about town. I think they may be even call him the mayor? So really good coffee there and the ambience is very modern and hip and lovely. I always feel uplifted when I go in there. The vibes are always positive and happy and upbeat. It's a really nice place to be and it's also very welcoming to different types of people. I have seen the rooms at the jesse it's a hotel as well and they're very cute in terms of being a small boutique hotel . in addition, they are right next to anne share a courtyard with a taco shop that I think is called Estella, and those darn tacos are absolutely delicious! Big yummy. I recommend pairing them with a missal margarita from the jesse and you have yourself a really delicious dinner, that you can eat in the very adorable courtyard that has a huge trellis with wisteria dripping from it. Again, this is a place where you will see very fashionable people but it's also also very open and cute. Again, one of the best places in Reno for a young person . read more

I've been to The Jesse twice. Both times, the staff were focused on great customer service. You have to go to the bar to order food and drinks. As soon as you step up to the bar, they acknowledge your presence and take your order as soon as they are able. We've all been places where it seems like the bartenders are more interested in talking with their friends at the bar rather than trying to take care of all the customers. That hasn't happened at The Jesse. Even though you order the food and drinks at the bar, the staff brings them to your table. The cocktails are well-made and generous. I've had Old Fashions and Manhattans. I've also had several types of tacos; all were delicious. Highly recommend! read more

What a chic little bar! We had recently read about this place and the Mexican restaurant next door and was excited to see it was on the Yelp Whiskey Hunt. Other hunters and I stopped in here on a Friday night and was lucky enough to grab some of the last seats. The bartender was very quick to welcome and excited we were there for the Hunt (it was the first night!). He shared an amazing story of how Jack Daniels got its start (I won't spoil the surprise, and that's not what you'll be trying). The Jesse is a real diamond in the rough (and boy do I mean rough). We came into town to support our friends in a bodybuilding competition and found this place. The pros: It only has 6 rooms and they are SO nice. Super well decorated, lots of charm, exposed brick. Decor was a 10/10. The restaurant downstairs is so trendy; sporting awesome small tacos and bites with fancy craft cocktails and a wide selection of tequila. The customer service is literally like nothing I've ever experienced, and we travel a lot. Piper helped us out immensely. Even though they were sold out she called me with a cancellation and was super friendly and helpful. The rest of the staff was lovely, as well! Cons: The area. Not much to be done about this. Reno is terrible. There are homeless people walking/lurking around the front and although we didn't dare go out at night; I'm sure it's even more terrifying. The noise. We do not drink, so I suppose if you drown yourself in cheap drinks at the casino you wouldn't hear it but in case you don't - be ready to be up all night. The walls are VERY thin. You can hear everything in the hotel and outside of the hotel. Lots of road noise and there's just a wonderful (sarcasm) joint across the road that blares heavy metal/rock music until 2am. My only other con is that one of the bartenders was quite moody about making us a mock tail. It's really not that hard...but it seemed to be an inconvenience for her. It would be nice if they offered a couple of mock tails and a NA beer on their menu. Overall, the hotel is beautiful. A real gem. We will absolutely never come back to Reno again but if for some god forsaken reason we did - we would stay at The Jesse. read more

Came to Reno with my husband for a work conference. They had put him up at a casino hotel for the conference, but we checked out and headed to the Jesse right after. It was such a breath of fresh air after coming from an overcrowded, smoky casino hotel. The room was absolutely beautiful and functional. They were able to accommodate an early check-in for us which was so fantastic. The bed was extremely comfy and loved having access to Netflix. Bathroom was spacious - loved the heater in there to warm the space up. It got quite noisy downstairs at the bar one night. The hotel does provide ear plugs if you need them, but I sleep like a rock, so it wasn't an issue. We also ate at Estella, which is the taco place adjacent to the hotel. They brought our food into the Jesse, which was great. Their food was incredible! Highly recommend when staying there. Overall - WOW. The best hotel I've stayed in. read more

Four stars does not represent imperfection. It represents a wonderful bar with very nice bartenders who work in a clean, very clean with no TV or sports. I have to admit, I thought this was a heatheness place whenever I sat judging the people coming out of this establishment. They were always hammered and happy, tripping over themselves whilst I galked at them from inside Louie's. I thought it was a shady place. I was wrong! It has everything else. This is a stop on the 2019 Whiskey Hunt. Very fun place to go and the whiskey sample they have is suuuper delicious. The friend I went with really enjoyed the atmosphere, as did I. The bartenders were two really cool gals and we just enjoyed the conversation we struck up with them. I would love to come in again to check out the Estella. Not very pleased, but could have been worse. We arrived later then planned, due to weather. Everything was closed, and the person waiting obviously wanted to leave. Bar and restaurant closed. Food across the street refused to make pick up.onlh thing open within walking distance was closed. When they say stairs, it's more than a flight, not good for handicap, but they make clear stairs only. The room was comfortable, pillows to large to sleep on. No one is there at night. It was noisy, but they warned us Main issue was we were told coffee and pie in the morning. We ended up sitting on the stairs, no coffee and left at 815 and still no one came. Just know there is no one on site, it was only not surrounded by questionable people because of the snow. And a bus station across the street. Seemed a lot of money for a bare bones hotel stay. read more

I was pretty excited to check out The Jesse and popped in during The Art on 4th event since they were a featured stop on the map. The ambiance was bright and fun everywhere from the bar to a small sitting room to the large outdoor patio. The cocktail menu had some really fun names (if you have roots here you'll know what's up). I was with the boyfriend and another couple, and we were content waiting for our craft cocktails at the busy bar since we were all catching up. Plus, both bartenders, Dana and Devin, were so professional and friendly even though they were running around trying their hardest to get the drinks out to everyone. After waiting for a few minutes Dana was trying to flag down Nicole, the bar manager, who was rubbing elbows with friends in the lobby. Another guy finally got Nicole's attention, and I was appalled by the bar manager's response to her staff's request for help. In front of all of the customers the bar manager scolded her staff and informed them that they "just need to do their job." She then proceeded to chit chat with friends in the lobby. Wow! So unprofessional! The bartender again apologized about the wait in such a friendly manner. After this I went directly to the bar manager and addressed my concern about how she treated her staff in front of the customers, but her snarky response to me was "that they need to learn." As we continued to wait for drinks, the owner of The Jesse, Piper, went behind the bar to assist with unloading some glassware from the dishwasher. I also spoke directly with her about how disrespectful the bar manager was towards the bartenders when they requested help. She didn't seem to concerned until I mentioned the rude interaction I also had with the bar manager. At that point Piper was extremely apologetic, but I told her she should be as sorry towards the staff because they are busting their asses. I have the utmost respect for how professional and cordial the two bartenders were considering the crowd, lack of adequate staffing for a known event evening, and blatant disrespect from the bar manager. I only stayed and ordered a cocktail so that we could (monetarily) commend those two for putting up with nonsense. I will most likely not come back to The Jesse. When management and ownership don't respect their ground level employees I just can't justify supporting a business like that--even if it is local. read more

My husband and I stayed there last night and it was fantastic! The hotel was super unique, cozy and very interesting. But the big hit for us was the bat and restaurant downstairs. The bartender had an amazing personality and was so fun to be around. The drinks were great! But the real hit was the tacos. Very old building, so yOu do feel like you have to tip toe to prevent noise below. The cocktails are amazing! Try the Victory Highway - it's got gin, egg whites, and a bunch of other delicious things that make for a really outstanding drink. The bar is located on the ground floor of the hotel, and everything I've ordered from the cocktail menu (read: most of them) has been outstanding. I'd highly recommend staying there just for the drinks. The outdoor patio is really nice as well, and the rooms are great. No complaints. read more

I had originally booked our usual room at a cheap-o casino hotel. Prices have gone up and the amenities have gone down, so my husband and I decided to try something different. We booked the last available room at The Jesse on a third party hotel site we've never heard of and cancelled the original room at the casino. I'm so glad we did. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, we received exceptional treatment. There is no formal check-in area, so you walk right into the bar and staff helps you immediately. Upon arrival, Piper (owner) greeted us herself and even offered to carry our cooler up the two flights of stairs for us. She walked us through the property and amenities and invited us to check out the bar and taco shop later. We more than checked out the bar. We enjoyed a lot of time there over our 3-day stay, mostly due to the cool and friendly bartender Paul. When we returned to the bar on our second night and the bar was slammed, Paul made sure to greet us by yelling "There they are!" while not skipping a beat with the cocktails he was already working on. He then proceeded to make our cocktails with just as much attention to detail. We tried almost everything on the menu, plus some others. Paul can make you anything. While enjoying our amazing cocktails on the beautiful patio, Diana (hospitality director) chatted us up. She was genuine and wanted to know what we thought of the property and our stay. She was friendly and fun. Being such a small property, the Jesse provides an intimate experience that can't be duplicated in a casino hotel. Staff ensures that you are a part of the family while you're there because that is the kind of people they are. You can't fake that. For our future Reno trips, The Jesse won't just be a place to stay, it will be part of the destination. read more

This place is such a gem and I can't even begin to express how amazing the customer service provided by Lo was. First the drinks, we had the Camel Race Hoax and the Lover's Lane. The Camel Race Hoax was the perfect summer drink and so refreshing. My boyfriend got the Lover's Lane which comes with a vile and changes colors once you add it in, pretty cool. I will say this drink wasn't as great as mine but still delicious! Then the customer service, Lo exceeded and exemplified the meaning behind legendary service. She was attentive and informative. She told us about the up and coming things as well as showed us the patio and so welcoming to all the guests. The aesthetic was also wonderful, I can't even believe it was Lincoln Lounge!
