We ordered a lot and had high hopes, the appetizer a pistachio feta was good we had to ask for it to be warmed to room temp as it was cold and kinda non spreadable. We ordered fried veggies those were my favorite, Za'atar fries were ok, they didn't give us dipping sauces w them. The tzatziki plate was egh the pita bread was good. For entrees we ordered the chicken and beef this is where it really went south, the meat was so black with char it was not edible the chicken was tough, So not good all n all, when we asked about deserts they said they just didn't offer them that evening. Update - Appreciated Response from Management I wanted to provide an update following my original review. The next business day, a manager, Jess, contacted me directly by phone. She sincerely apologized for both the erroneous housekeeping report that resulted in the $50 charge and for the excessive noise level during our stay. She explained that the volume we experienced was not typical and that it is not customary for performers to play at that level. I appreciated the prompt response and the acknowledgment of both concerns. The situation with the charge was addressed (and the credit has since appeared on our credit card,) and it was reassuring to have direct communication and accountability from management. As a gesture of goodwill, The Jesse offered to host us for dinner on a future visit, which we found to be very thoughtful. We may take them up on that, as the restaurant was, in our opinion, exceptionally good and a highlight of our experience. In addition to the restaurant, the rooms themselves are well-appointed and comfortable. That said, I would still encourage prospective guests to inquire in advance about any scheduled live music if they are planning a quieter evening or an early night, as the setting may not be ideal for those sensitive to noise. Overall, we appreciated the professionalism demonstrated once management was made aware of the earlier handling, and Jess's exceptional effort to thoughtfully resolve our concerns. _________________________________________________________________ Disappointing Stay at The Jesse Hotel (Pending Resolution) I am hopeful that I will be able to update this review to reflect a prompt and reasonable response from management - specifically, the immediate refund of a $50 charge for an item we did not take, and some consideration regarding the room rate given the level of noise disruption that was not clearly communicated at the time of booking. We recently stayed at The Jesse Hotel and, unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations overall. To begin on a positive note, the restaurant was excellent. The meal was outstanding, and Ashley provided warm, attentive service that we genuinely appreciated. That was, however, the highlight of our stay. I was aware there might be live music at the bar (likely from another online review), but what we experienced went far beyond what would reasonably be expected. The noise level was extreme - the bass was so intense that the walls of our room were vibrating. A white noise machine was provided, which we initially assumed was for street noise, but it was no match for the volume coming from the bar below. While the music did eventually stop around 11:30 p.m., the level of disruption made it very difficult to relax or rest. More concerning was what happened after our stay. Two days later, I noticed a $50 charge on my credit card from The Jesse. We had not been provided a folio (I have searched my email several times.) When I called the hotel, I was told the charge was for a "missing lotion container" reported by housekeeping and the person offered to "send me a photo of the missing item," which I found puzzling. - a photo of something not there? This was surprising, as the only toiletries we saw were wall-mounted dispensers in the shower. He insisted that when we checked in, it was there and then housekeeping reported it was missing. We did not take any items, and yet the charge was applied without notification or an opportunity to address the claim. As far as the noise, the Jesse representative defaulted to the noise policy outlined in the Guest Arrangement. Admittedly, I did not READ the entire agreement because I was expecting it to be consistent with the experience I would expect at any small/boutique hotel. However, even the language in the agreement includes that the guest should consider this before booking. However, this was NOT brought to my attention at the time of booking three weeks earlier. And the reality of the noise level far exceeded what most guests would reasonably anticipate from such wording. Between the excessive noise and the unexplained charge, the overall experience was disappointing. While the restaurant is worth visiting, I would not recommend staying at the hotel unless you are fully prepared for a very loud environment and are comfortable with the possibility of unexpected post-stay charges. read more

When visiting Reno and Lake Tahoe for two days we stayed at The Jesse for two nights. They were accommodating and super nice! The bar and grill has amazing food, we tried the ground lamb with rice and roasted veggies (you should try it!) good taste and worth it! The rooms are beautifully remodeled with comfortable king bed and a huge walk in shower! The view, well ... can't say it was wonderful but everything was enough to enjoy the room. I do have to say that there is no elevator and all rooms are on the upper levels. If you cannot do stairs, not recommended. We did have our dogs, it went very well. read more

The beautiful decor. It's all stunning and comes together to create such a lovely atmosphere! We came on a Monday, so of course we had to participate in Margarita Monday! Margs were $9 each and were good but not the best I've had. They have some great drink options but I usually come here more for the aesthetic than for the drinks themselves. Some of the drinks feel overpriced and servings can be small. They have a really nice patio out back and a cute taco shop there too--it's a fun place to hang out when the weather is warmer. We spent a weekend at the Jesse with our pitbull and it was a wonderful experience!! We were celebrating a birthday and the staff helped me surprise my boyfriend with balloons and cake waiting in our room upon our arrival. The bed was comfy, the room was spacious and the hotel was quiet and relaxing. We were also in walking distance to the downtown casinos, which was super fun! I'm glad there was a reasonably priced, chic option on our trip to Reno and we will definitely be staying here again! read more

Although we all miss the Tacos, The Jesse's new Mediterranean menu is fantastic! There are aps and small plates as well as larger plates. I am making my way through the menu but so far my favorite aps are the Falafel Bites, the Spiced Lamb Meatballs and the Mediterranean Fries. From the larger plates I'm digging the Shrimp Saganaki Flatbread and the Mediterranean Bowl. For the bowl you can choose chicken, falafel or lamb. If you are nostalgic for the margaritas don't worry. All the previous margs are still there with the addition of the new Rose Margarita which is fire. The new cocktail menu is amazing. My favorite is the Dirty Dimitri which is a riff on a martini with house infused tomato Basil vodka, dry Vermouth and Umami Bitters. (Chef's Kiss) There are some great new faces on the staff but you get the same great feel in the bar from the old crew with Nito at them helm and all my favorite tenders, Chloe, Michelle and Brandon who have all stepped into the new vision without loosing the great hospitality and vibe that previous owner Piper cultivated. The new owners are great, very friendly and working to carry the torch while also creating something new. I have been to the Jesse several other times and I love their drinks, specially the mezcal cocktails. I recently learned that you can rent out their lounge area for private events and decided to host my husband 40th birthday party at the Jesse! Sarah is exceptional!! Easy to communicate with and we planned the whole thing in a couple of days. They helped set up the decorations Their food menu is delicious! We Did a taco bar buffet and all the proteins were to die for! If you are visiting on the weekend do not skip on the carne guisada tacos The entire staff was super attentive and friendly. We were headed to my husband's holiday party across the street and decided to get a room at the Jessie last minute. Luckily they had a room available although it was a Sunday. It is such a charming place. I loved the brick walls and simple decor and art. The bathroom has a nice large updated shower. However there isn't really any counter space in the bathroom for getting ready. My only complaint is the mirror situation in the bathroom of our room. The mirror above the sink is pretty small round mirror but it is so high I could only see my eyes and forehead. There is a bigger mirror on the wall across from the toilet but there is no outlet there which made it very difficult when trying to curl my hair. After we got ready we wanted to check out their bar downstairs before we headed to our party. They have a pretty extensive line of spirits to choose from. We have a few signature drinks that were fantastic. Overall I would highly recommend this place to anyone!! Such a more homey feeling than your typical hotel!! Even if you don't need a place to stay I recommend checking out the bar! read more

This hotel was so terrifying that we could not even check in. We booked one night and the parking lot was filled with scary people. The parking lot had signs saying you must take your valuables. The hotel has no lobby, is closed for breakfast so my cousin who stayed there for one night and tried to get coffee in the morning was accosted by people experiencing homelessness. My cousins ended up leaving hotel a day later. They advertise as having a roof top bar which suggests a legit boutique hotel. We are totally unfamiliar with the area so had no idea how dangerous the area is and that we could not walk safely outside the hotel or leave car unattended. So... all we did is arrive, open our room and then turnaround and booked a hotel at a nice casino near the airport. The Jesse would not give us our money back hence my reason for posting. Amazing place in Reno. Even has a parking lot. Yes... it's in a small boutique hotel and has a patio. Great cocktails and happy hour! Tacos were excellent and ask for habanero salsa if you love heat. But the best part?!? The bartenders! All were so awesome and friendly and I felt as if I'd been a regular for years. If I ever go back to Reno, this is definitely the spot. Very disappointing experience. We moved to this hotel during the motorcycle weekend event and the noise from motorcycles all night long was unbearable. No sleep. The room was extremely tiny and overpriced for Reno. Wouldn't stay again as the rooms are very close to street level (it's essentially more like a bed and breakfast) and do not offer adequate quiet and calm needed for a good night's rest. read more

I've never been into this bar, but my fiancè used to come here when it was something different when she was in college. The coffee bar here I believe, is called Forged? I ordered the spro and Co (espresso and cola) and was pleasantly surprised how much I really liked it. Very quiet inside, and clean despite being next to the bus station on 4th Street. The server was nice and took his time making the drinks. If I'm in the area and want some caffeine, I'm for sure stopping back in. read more

I have only eaten at Estella on the patio and haven't spent much time inside the Jesse, but I'm glad I did. Absolutely love the brick and aesthetic of the gorgeous bar. How do you conceal 30 guests waiting to surprise a guy on his 40th birthday without spoiling the surprise? You host that party at The Jesse and squeeze em into the small private room just off the lobby because it's the last place anyone would think you could even pull this off! Good thinking wifey. I was clueless and the party was a blast thanks to the great company, venue vibes and epic service from the staff. They had the back room setup with three long tables and two benches at each, allowing the guests to seat comfortably with just enough room to move around. The lobby bar was bumping and even still, drinks were coming fast and furious. For food, adjacent Estella held it down (separate review coming) with platters of tacos, chips and salsa a plenty. My wife brought the cake in for the party and they served that up for everyone in style too. What amazed me most was how private the space really felt. Considering the bar is right next door and the restrooms and exit to the parking lot is off of this area, we didn't see too many patrons and felt like it truly was all ours for the evening. This coffee spot is a little hidden gem! You've got to go into the hotel bar through the back door to access it. The coffee is great, the server was really nice and had a good conversation. The inside is nice and clean with some cool decorations. I had the Easy Rider which is really good! The house made syrups really ad a good touch and the lemon zest makes it all the better! We went to the Jesse (bar only) for a drink after hearing about it on Yelp, and I was glad to have found it because it's a bit out of the way and not necessarily a place you might walk by. The interior is very clean and classy, with unique decor choices. I definitely feel like I should be looking nice if I go here, not necessarily someplace I might pop in if I'm dressed down in jeans or a t-shirt. There is seating but it's a little limited if it gets busy. The staff is very friendly and the drinks are good. The menu was a little limited, but should have something for mostly everyone. I heard you can also get food here (outside maybe?) but we didn't try it when we were there. Overall a nice place if you want to feel fancy, but a bit off the beaten path. read more

Found this place while looking up for a place to stay Near the reno event Center. It had great reviews plus it's a bonus with a restaurant, bar and in the morning time coffee bar. Check in is usually 3pm. We got here a little early but had a conversation with their coffee bar associate. Omg plant heaven, I lovvvvvve all the plants here it makes it so jungle like. The rooms are above the restaurant and can get noise in the evening. I like they we can order from the restaurant for room service. Everyone there was super nice and very attentive. If you want to dinner at the restaurant I suggest you early cause they do get super packed and wait line for a table, especially on weekends and concert nights. read more

So this was a cool spot in the downtown reno area. Near the Depot / Lead Dog and others . The Bar area was really cool well lit and quite the selection. Nice seating areas in the corner street and it was awesome to watch it snow thru the big windows at least this last Saturday night. The drinks we all had were good , imo the pour on the whiskey was a little light but thats my opinion. My buddy said the Revision Disco Ninja was good and a little spicy. My Blanton Whiskey is good i had it neat. My wife enjoyed Nikka days touch sweet but we both liked . We really like Japanese Whiskey. This review is for the bar. Not the hotel. The bar is part of the one-two punch for the best brunch in town. Excellent food, excellent service and excellent cocktails with premium ingredients. We have been to Estella numerous times for dinner and brunch and every single time the drinks are totally on point. The space is also great. Lot's of light and tons of bar space, even a low seating bar section for those who don't like sitting on bar stools. Every drink I have gotten here has been exceptional in creativity and in quality. The people behind the bar are the types of bartenders you would expect in a larger city with a more sophisticated professional air. Reno is an elevated dive bar city. This isn't that. It's a quality bar program that brings it's elegance in to supplant the normally seedy/juvenile reno bar scene. read more

We came for $5 pie and coffee! It was nice and quiet, the employee was friendly and he even made my daughter a hot chocolate. $5 pie and coffee is such a great deal and the pie was great. Made by a local company called Sugar Pie. We had a berry/apple and a apple crumble pie. I love their ambiance here. Beautiful plants and lots of windows. Great new Mediterranean offerings at The Jesse's restaurant under new ownership. The food was surprisingly cheap given the nice vibe of the place (burger was 15, wrap was 14). We left full and ready to come back to try more menu items. The staff were super friendly, attentive, and down to Earth. The total highlight of this place is the outdoor seating area. So much foliage, ivy, and sun to enjoy on a nice day. We're already at The Jesse all the time for Forged coffee, and now we'll be coming for food too :) read more

But unfortunately, there was a teeny tiny fire that forced us to evacuate and I needed a place to stay in Reno that would make me feel safe and comfortable before my first day at a new job. Enter The Jesse. A place that fit the need perfectly. Could it have been that my great grandmother was a Jesse, possible. Perchance the mix of mid century modern furniture and delightful fiddle leaf figs, probable. Was it the perfect "naked and famous" cocktail the soothed my weary soul, yes. The Jesse has it all which is why I keep coming back even though I'm no longer a hotel guest. The drinks are delicious and creative. I particularly enjoyed the pistachio cocktail I had last night. The bartenders are great!!!!!!!! The bar allows well behaved pups. Luckily for the world my dog is the goodest dog. The room was comfortable and stylish. What a fantastic shower too! A little noisy in the room I was in but I'm a city girl and I like to know there is a world outside my window. Plus, tacos. But I'll dig into those in my review of Estella. read more

The inside felt very San Francisco hotel vibe. Restrooms were clean and stocked. Suggestion: toilet covers :) Plenty of outdoor sitting. New tables and chairs, or at least new looking :) Bar had an all glass window looking at 4th street. Servers were helpful and awesomazing. Has a small parking area but plenty of street parking. Tostadas were amazing :) crunchy, flavorful and yummilicious! Salsas were too! Kid had the corn one, she's not a big fan of spicy stuff (still training her). Definitely a great hang out place.
