I was in town for the week an decided to have one of my dinners here and I will tell you the food was awesome. Big portions as well as the flavor. I got the chicken shawarma the first night and couldn't finish it. I went back on my second night, not planned at all, because it was so good. I got the chicken shawarma again and asked for a side of lamb. Good gracious, that side of lamb was big enough for my dinner. I'd go back a 3rd time but I have so much left over from my second dinner there is no need. This place has great food and on both nights the employees are as friendly as can be and they take their time explaining whatever questions you may have with your order. Not the same from 2 years ago when I visited. Bug in salad, food on the floor, sticky floors and service left wanting more. Sad that I think many Kebab shops have gone down in quality. I remember another kebab shop in university city area I went to where I ate plastic in my food. The only reason we come here is because my children like their fries and they have kids eat free on weekends. But I am not sure it's worth encountering bugs, foreign objects in food, seeing food and gloves on the floor, and not great quality. The workers did give my sister her food free and another plate + hummus/pita but overall I've been having too many bad experiences at kebab shop. The workers did not seem to be happy to be there and were just doing their job which I understand--but doesn't rep the brand well when you are faced with all these things. We were missing items from the order, I noticed the kale salad is no longer available, and the salad we did receive had no dressing on it. This was especially frustrating because we've always considered The Kebab Shop a 5-star place and I'm happy to pay good money for good food when the quality is there. But this time, paying about $40 plus tip to feed two people for what we received just wasn't worth it. I'm not looking to be difficult, but I'd appreciate it if you could help make this right (refund/credit for the missing items and the salad issue). I LOVE TKS! I have been vegetarian for a few months and love their falafel wrap. Their wraps are more like giant burritos due to their size and they are SO good. Their sauces are sooo delicious. The jalapeño cilantro is my favorite as well as the OG sauce. Their dill sauce is so good too! This location is amazing. They keep everything SUPER clean and I like that you can see the line and all the delicious veggies laid out and can watch them make your food. Food allergies / sensitivities beware! Their online ordering does not have any open ended prompts to type words like *TOMATO ALLERGY*, which is what I usually do at other places. The Mission Valley location is great at following what I order, so I thought this place would pay attention that I had unchecked tomato for my order. But no. Halfway through my wrap on Thursday 02.05.26 I encountered my foe. There was a good ounce or more, not an accidental piece that may have fallen in. This carelessness tracks with the level of service I saw when I picked up. I waited for the text that said my order was ready before I went in. There were about 6-7 customers milling about the front waiting, the vibe was tense. One customer had asked the girl at pick up something just as I walked in. I didn't hear what they said, but it was clear that she was pretty short with him. He walked away seeming to be pissed off. Idk I walked straight up to ask if she'd called my name and she said no. I said I got the text that food was ready and she said wait, what's the name again? I repeated my name. She looked at the tag on my food and said oh, I thought you said something else, and handed me my food. The music was pretty loud, maybe I was quiet, the interaction was not terrible, but it was far from friendly. Please, please find a way to offer online ordering that is safe for those of us with food allergies. At the very least, how can you encourage you employees to read the line items rather than just the name of the menu item? If the only option you offer me to avoid a buttload of tomato in my food is to order at the counter, then I guarantee that I and many others won't come back. I have wanted to try this place for a long time, but it wasn't in the nicest location, with a lot of sketchy people walking by the restaurant. The service was ok, they quickly explained the ordering process, we ordered the San Diego wrap and the Super Duper, the portions were large and full, and they had a good variety of sauces to choose from, the green spicy sauce was my favorite. I did have an issue with my wrap, halfway through I kept biting into something that I thought may have been bone but was bits of possible plastic. On the way back from walking the dogs at the beach we decided to give this place a try. I ordered the mixed Kabab wrap. The photos looked so good, and the portions were large, but they were not cheap either. However, the meat in mine wasn't that great, and twice I with into something hard that hurt my teeth. Maybe some small pieces of bone or something I am not sure. For me the meat was a bit bland. The place isn't huge but there was a decent amount of seating indoors, although with the layout it is a little packed in there. They have a bar where you can help yourself to sauces, but they were all out of some of them so you had to wait to ask a worker and they did have some in the back. They looked low on meat so maybe that was part of the problem since we were mostly getting the most interior pieces. I did enjoy the large portions but the flavor was just ok. I tried a few of their sauces and they were pretty good. We had the dogs with us so we ate outside. Got hassled by some people begging for money (twice) as it's not located in the nicest area. I would suggest eating inside. All in all it wasn't a great experience, but I could see myself coming back to give it another shot at some point. read more
