We come to Murray to visit my wife's family and decided to try The Keg. It seems like they've got some Louisiana influence, which caught my attention since I'm from there. I didn't try those dishes this time, but I probably will next visit. We started with the cheese coins. The pepper jack was a great choice and definitely worth it. My wife got the fried gulf shrimp. The shrimp had a great crunch and were done well. The onion rings and fries felt like an afterthought though--the onion rings were pretty soggy. I had the Mac Lovin burger. Overall, it was good. The BBQ sauce was a highlight, just wish there was more of it. The burger itself was under-seasoned. The sweet corn nuggets were excellent and my favorite part of the plate. Overall, we had a good experience and I'd give it another shot. read more

I'm in town for work and stopped by at the suggestion of a friend. It was fairly crowded when I arrived. The bar too was empty, so I sat there. The bartender was friendly and talkative. I ordered the Fried Alligator Tail. It comes with their homemade Remoulade and a Honey BBQ. It was fried perfect. Crispy on outside with tender meat on the inside. The Remoulade was great. I didn't care for the Honey BBQ. They have several TV's and they put the UK basketball game on for me at the bar TV. They have a decent beer selection and a full bar. read more

Top 10 Restaurant / Bar in Western Kentucky. Great Drinks, service with a smile and fresh protein. Live Music on occasion, always college and or professional sports on many TV's. Did I mention their menu, very broad, don't quote me, but, Frog Legs to Crab Legs, Local Beef, Great BBQ, smoky and perfect bark. Seafoods to Sandwiches, Salads and always Fresh Vegetables. I honestly can't comment on their deserts, due to their great meals and large portions. My preferred deserts are usually Aperitif cocktails, or Small Batch Bourbons, this is Bourbon Country. We live in Murray. The Keg is not what we had a year ago. Yesterday we ordered pulled pork, slaw, onion rings and fries to go. The slaw was okay but the fries and onion rings were soggy and barely warm. The rings were tough. Worst, the pork had an unpleasant "piggy" odor like almost-spoiled raw meat. Dousing it with sauce made it barely palatable but we threw out the rest. I can - and will - make better pulled pork in the slow cooker. Don't tell me to come in and "we'll fix it". Fix it right the first time. Get a better source (or better buyer) of raw pork. read more

We found ourselves in Murray last night, #1 on the list of dinner restaurants is The Keg, so that's where we headed. This is a restaurant built for crowds, and you can tell this by the pace of all the servers that they are taking care of business! Our server was so accommodating and sweet. I discovered that I don't care much for Abita beer, but the Murray Slurry was delicious and strong. We waited a full 40 minutes after ordering our food until it came, which I think is just inexcusable. We were told there was a reunion party of 70 in the adjoining room. Despite this, the food was delicious when it finally came. I had the blackened catfish with cheese grits and it was divine. 3 stars for the wait on the food. read more

Good food, uncle made us try the fried alligator, kinda tasted like chicken... didn't feel like chicken. Definitely wish the chunks were smaller. Pulled pork was just okay. Didn't come with a sandwich bun like I thought it would, came with a small extremely stale 2 inch piece of bread. Mac and cheese was okay, noodles were undercooked. The Asparagus was great. I am not sure who our waitress was, as there was probably 5 different ladies stopping by to ask if we were ready to order. Once our late guest arrived, we placed order. We ordered, gumbo, Cuban sandwich and brisket sandwich. Everything was good, and multiple waitress checked to see if we needed anything, were prompt to refill glasses. A great lunch all the way around. There were many choices on menu, that makes it tough to choose. In the multiple times I have eaten here. The Keg catered my cousins wedding. I am not from the area and was blown away with how wonderful the Beef and the mashed potatoes were at the wedding. So much so, my husband even begged for me to figure out how to make it. I did reach out to the company and told them just how amazing it was, how it blew me away for food at a wedding, I spoke with Darren, who is the sweetest, kindest soul around. I have not eaten at their restaurant, however, I can speak for some of their catering...If they are catering, i am sure it will be amazing!!! We visited from Michigan and had a great experience. The service was great and our waitresses were so very kind. I had the burger that had macaroni on it and it was great. I just wish they serve the macaroni as an actual entree. The mac was soooo delicious and some of the best I have had! I think it would do well on the menu! My boyfriend had a shrimp po boy with gumbo and really enjoyed it. The po boy was a great size, and the burger was too. The mashed potatoes rocked with brown gravy! Loved the gravy. I stay out of town at least once a week for work and this is my only go-to for food. Love the atmosphere, the food is amazing and the beer is cold. One issue I have is the to-go orders have been lacking. The food is great but, they ALWAYS forget the additional components of the dish. Take for example the Pork Belly Tacos : Supposed to come with coleslaw; nope. The 19.99 Mahi Mahi fish tacos; Supposed to come with Lettuce, Shredded Cheese, Cajun caviar, Remoulade... all on the side - nope. Kinda makes the meal (and the money I spent) kinda wasteful. When we came to Murray for my daughter's orientation, it was HIGHLY recommended by students and locals alike, so we tried it. OH. MY. GAWD. The Keg has yummy food. Service can be slow if they are busy. Hours are not the best. Why close at 10pm on weekends? It would be nice if they were open till 11pm, especially when football games go so late at MSU. The food is expensive. Many students don't eat here unless they have family paying the bill.
