The food is good. The staff is rotating and unreliable. The prices are out of this world high compared to the size of the plate. So big, but dark which make it feel intimate. I liked that! June 2026 addition. Came here for our 29th wedding anniversary. Made the reservations and mentioned at that time that it was our anniversary. Called the day of reservation to confirm and again mentioned it was a special occasion, 29 year anniversary. Arrived at the restraint 5 minutes early and were seated immediately, in silence. Drinks and food orders were taken. Drinks received, food soon after, prime rib with grilled jumbo shrimp skewers. That's the last we saw of the waitress until we a were done. No happy anniversary, no congratulations, no "how is everything?" Once again complete failure of staff. The old spaghetti factory staff should teach the keg how to do it. We came here on a Friday with no reservations so the four of us had to sit at the actual bar counter. We couldn't really all have a conversation because we were seated in a horizontal line but still had a nice time. We ordered drinks and dinner, and all was delicious as usual. Friendly bar staff, quick service and everything was consistent. Prime rib was cooked perfectly and the bread the butter was yummy! Veggies were cooked perfectly. Caesar salads were decent. Stopped in on our way home, there was a 45-minute wait on a Sunday night but we got a booth in the lounge for immediate seating. Service was swift and polite, our server got our order in the system to make happy hour, perfect! Food portions were ample, neither of us could finish and had to get to go boxes. Friend had burger and fries, said it tasted delicious and the fries were crispy. I had the prime rib sandwich with grilled veggies and au jus -- all I can say is if you're a French dip fan you'll likely love this. Veggies were cooked so perfectly that I found myself enjoying eating beets. A few times we even celebrated special occasions here and it has always been top notch..both food & service! We had a family birthday dinner at the Keg (always a good spot to go for a special occasion!). We had 8 people, so they add automatic gratuity (which is common practice). However I forgot and they did not point it out, so I ended up double tipping. On an already very expensive bill (their prices are quite high now), it made the night out very pricy, so I wish they would have been upfront about that. I ordered a Long Island Ice Tea. The first one had way too much ice so it felt like barely any beverage, so the second one I asked for no ice. They were only okay. For my entre I ordered Steak and Lobster, with the addition of Shrimp and Scallop Oscar, and a side of mashed potatoes. The side veggie it came with was beets which I don't like, so they changed the veggies for me which I appreciated. The steak was a 6oz top sirloin. I like mine very rare (as rare as you can get without it being cold), and they made it perfectly. However I think they flubbed their mashed potatoes because they were unusually peppery. Normally I can't get enough of the mashed potatoes and they were meh at best. We had a 3 year old with us and they gave her crayons and a picture to colour which was helpful! Because it was someone's birthday they comped their ice cream cake, which was insanely delicious! We all shared some. I only gave 3 stars because of not being alerted to double tipping, the overall price of the meal, the sub par drinks, and the very peppery mashed potatoes. As a new resident to Abbotsford we decided to celebrate my birthday tonight at the Keg. We made a reservation & told them we were celebrating a birthday. It was BEYOND noisy. We ordered appetizers and once finished set the plates aside. The server collected the plate along with our side plates and left a HUGE mess on the table. We asked the bus girl if she'd clean off the pepper jelly and brie from the table and to our utter horror she tossed it on the floor below. Our meals came and the veggies on the plate with the prime rib was basically a red pepper cut in a couple pieces thrown on the plate. The pieces were huge and no thought was put into presentation. We had to ask for the mushrooms that we're supposed to come with the meal. In the end no complimentary dessert was offered to me for my birthday. We will not go there again. read more

We had reservations. It was Sunday night dinner with friends during Dine Out. The restaurant was very busy and loud. We all ordered off the dine out menu and between the 4 of us we covered almost all the options available except for the steak Oscar. Our server was Monisha. She was very good and provided us with excellent service. She allowed us to have peppercorn sauce with a couple of the steaks. Most of our group was satisfied with the food. I had the bacon wrapped filet and had requested the steak rare but it was cooked medium. Because it was cooked medium I found it to be dry. It also was not well seasoned. My husband said that I should have sent the steak back. Our server did do a quality check but I do not like to make a fuss when dining with others. The room was also very loud and it was difficult to have a conversation with our friends so I really did not want to prolong the evening for the length of time that would be required to have a new steak cooked. I did like the rest of my meal - the lobster bisque and Spanish coffee. I also enjoyed the beets that came with the steak. The Spanish coffee was excellent. I'm glad that we tried the Keg during the dine out promotion but I would not return because it is just too loud. When dining with people I like to be able to talk with them and not have to shout across the table. The regular prices are also considerably higher than the dine out prices and for the quality of the food I just do not feel it is good value for the money. read more

August 3 2019 I was taken to the keg for my birthday dinner. I had the seafood sirloin. Asked for the steak to be medium rare. While I was waiting for my meal I had a old fashioned cocktail. It was perfect. The right amount of sweet and bitter. My meal came and the steak was done perfectly. The seafood was moist and generous and the double baked potato was delicious. I mentioned to my waiter that it was my birthday and I had a complimentary brownie sundae. Fantastic. Still not satisfied with my amount of alcohol from my 2 old fashioneds or the sugar from my brownie I decided to have a special coffee. I think it was called the billy miner coffee. Whatever it was called I called it damn good. As good as the food was the service was amazing. Thank you Brian for being awesome at your job. I've been a keg customer since it was KEG N Cleaver in north van ( roughly 50 years ago ) well last night is the last time I will spend $200.00 + for a dinner for 2 of that poor quality. Wife's prime rib was 60% fat & my Rib steak was 50% inedible . The server was great & obviously overworked due to staff shortage so rather than complain to her I asked to speak to the manager at the front desk when we were leaving & not a lot of satisfaction there . We made reservations for dinner before attending a concert then changed to bar seating so we could watch the Canucks. It was a fun atmosphere & service was excellent! Our server Kai was knowledgeable, recommending beer and cocktails, he was friendly & professional recognizing we were watching the game with a cocktail and not wanting to order our meals right away. When we did order, our choices arrived quick and were excellent! I had a wedge salad and prime rib sliders and both were delicious. My partner had the sirloin Oscar and he said it was perfect!! The top sirloin with goat cheese and vegetable gnocchi was very good but my coworker hated their chicken Marsala! They have a respectable wine list so you can find something to pair your meal with. July 10,2020. Certainly creepy when all the staff is wearing black masks but this is during Covid 19. This was a birthday and when asked by the hostess we indicated that. Not looking for a free anything but maybe acknowledgement would b nice. Ordered our drinks and meals so we could relax. Time goes by and no salad is coming. Turns out she forgot and it cam out at the same time. The waitress deducted it from the bill which was good. The the steaks came. Mine was OK but my wife's was so tough she just keep chewing. I wanted steak, and they delivered that... and an awesome honest employee! My boyfriend is usually picky about the meat he eats (he rarely does), so he asked the employee about the source of beef/how it was raised. The server made it clear that he wasn't sure, but said something like "It was probably treated badly... but it's delicious!" We appreciated his honesty, and appreciated that (after a "no dairy, gluten" mention) he suggested we check out their nifty nutrition menu. My boyfriend learned that their steamed asparagus (I think that's what it was) is not free of gluten! Never would have guessed that... and still not sure how it happens. We ended up pleased with everything we ordered, and actually ended up with food left over because I think my steak (yeah, I'm horrible, but I really wanted it) came with an extra side that we forgot about. When I finished my steak, I remember thinking "That small piece was enough to satisfy my meat cravings for like a month." This is my second time back to this location and I'm going to be a little picky. The meal was okay, nothing over the top. We had steak and half a lobster and the sirloin seafood medley. The lobster was dry but the steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare and had good flavour. The sirloin was ordered medium rare but came out rare. It also had good flavour. As for the seafood medley, I didn't have high expectations and it was as expected, a couple of teaspoon pieces of lobster, two baby scallops and two small shrimp, all of which was a little over cooked. The beans that were served were not properly cleaned as there were a few stems still on the veggies. Like I said nothing over the top. The bill came to $100 and we drank water so no alcohol. I can remember the Keg when it first opens in the 80's. It was a nice, well presented restaurant. Now I find it not much better than a cafe. No real complaints but if your going to spend an average of $50 a plate, there are better choices out there. We won't be returning. read more

Was not impressed at all with keg especially for valentine day , they put us at a time where someone else was sitting before us and left water on table I had to ask for fresh water, when we ordered I told the waitress, asked to make sure kitchen made sure I had a good cut of meat less fat , nope when I got it it was more then half fat , manger came by and asked what was the problem I explained he said sorry that the meat wasn't to my liking .... I was wow shocked and the icing on the cake was all night waited would forget our drinks or take 20 mins to bring butter at the end she asked us what card will we be using to pay the tip????? For a Steakhouse, I expected more. We went for or daughters birthday, keg burger and fries... burger was good, but the fries were way over salted, and I love salt. Baseball sirloin, stuffed potato and veg... potato was super dry, I like to eat the whole thing but impossible as the skin was like leather. Veg was mushrooms, zucchini and red pepper. Peppers were good, cooked right. Mushrooms again over cooked and tiny... zucchini also, seemed to be a bigger one as it was soft and seeded, overcooked. The steak was a disappointment to say the least. Mid rare.. Outside was charred dry dry dry. Inside was not evenly cooked, but grey then just raw in the middle. One would think they could atleast cook a decent steak for $52. I will say the wedge salad was amazing. Also had the filet Mignon, decently cooked I guess, potato again dry and same veg. Free dessert was good, hard to mess that up. No we didn't complain at the time, because I did want to eat alone after my family was finished. Overall a disappointment. Well what can I say except what a disappointment. Went there for my wife's birthday with my son and my lovely wife they both had prime rib as per usual but I decided to defer from the normal and temp my taste buds with the sesame ahi tuna. The only thing memorable about the tuna was the predominant salt flavour rub on the outside and the coleslaw that was served with it had a predominant flavour of salt. So that is what I tasted through the entire experience. I asked the waitress to please mention it to the chef ( if you can call him that) I truly can't tell you the last time I went for a dinner at an establishment like this and was marginalized. Spoke to the manager about this and neither from the waitress or the manager did I receive an offer to be at least partly compensated for the poor meal. On the upside I have to say that the waitress was friendly and because of that I tipped her accordingly. Last Keg experience I will be having. Ate here about 2 weeks ago. It was a celebration dinner and I had the steak and lobster. Steak was done "Chicago" style as I always order at the keg. My steak was super tough(cooked medium rare) and very chewy. Total disappointment considering the price. Bill was well over $100 for a burger and fries, 2 drinks and my meal. We've dined at this keg several times, but mostly in spaced out intervals due to needing time to forget. Not the best keg we've been to - service is nothing special, steaks are rarely cooked as requested, etc. The coffee is terrible, I understand this is a steakhouse but I've appreciated better roasts in gas stations. My last experience with the Keg was not outstanding. However, I'm always willing to give it another go. We went for dinner last night to celebrate our anniversary. Initially we had ordered the calamari appy, however the breading tasted very bland, and hubby found it quite greasy. We mentioned it to our server, Kara, and she was very understanding. Asked us if she could replace it with anything. We opted to leave it be for now, as the delicious bread with that incredible cheese butter had arrived (that's my fav appy anyways). Hubby ordered the half lobster and steak which is part of their special summer lobster menu. Wow, that lobster is huge. He really enjoyed his and had no complaints. I ordered the classic dinner - Teriyaki steak. Was surprised at the value in this one. The 8oz marinated steak also includes a side of veg, your choice of side, AND a starter caesar. I think I've found my new favorite. My first few bites of the steak were rather underwhelming. Rather than tasting the teriyaki, or even the steak flavor, all I really got was charcoal. Somehow my med-rare steak managed to taste VERY dry as well. After complaining about the appy, I was somewhat hesitant to mention to Kara that I was not pleased with the steak. But I took a peek at the underside of the steak, solid black. Again, right away she offered to have a new steak put on and said she was going to mention it to the manager. Not long after, the manager came out with my replacement steak (and new mashed potatoes!) and said that my dinner was on the house. FANTASTIC service! All I ever expect when my food isn't right is just for them to make it better. To have them both replace my food and comp it was unexpected. Very impressed with them going above and beyond. Finished off our meal with coffees and their incredible Billie Miner Pie (oh so good). Really impressed with the service. And it takes a lot for me to say that! read more

A dinner at The Keg is a rare treat and we were thanking friends with dinner for a big favour they had extended to us. I was happy they took reservations and the service was excellent! We all ordered from the classic dinner menu and everyone enjoyed their salads and of course warm bread. We all had prime rib except my husband who ordered a steak. I had mine medium and it was perfectly done. The baked potato was well dressed but I was surprised to bite into IMITATION bacon bits, that was disappointing. The vegetables were perfectly cooked green beans but the mushrooms were canned...mushy and slimy! When I pay a premium price for a rare dinner out I don't expect to be served inferior ingredients. I would never serve canned mushrooms at home so to have them in an expensive meal is enough to make me want to avoid a repeat experience. read more

This is our first time at the Keg. We were the first clients of the day. Both ordered Salmon, both were under cooked. My wife had half a lemon on her plate that looked as if it was half a lemon left over from last weekend - definitely not fresh. We returned it and they obviously put the whole plate under the grille. The fish was now cooked and the potatoes & veg were now over cooked ! Perhaps we should not order fish in a steak Resteraunt. We did arrive 15 minutes before the Keg opened. There is very small parking lot which was full before the doors were even unlocked. The same vehicles occupied the spaces when we left. One can only assume that the staff use the only spaces available close to the Resteraunt - this does not make me feel like a valued customer. At least the staff are all having fun. Judging by the raucous laughter coming from the kitchen, while we were trying to get someone's attention for some service. Will not bother going back to the Keg. There are lots of other places to eat near by for a similar price. read more

My steak and potatoes were cold. When I told the waitress she said "okay, is everyone else's food ok?" and left.... Came back with a new (much smaller) potato and gave it to me to "trade" with the one I had.... Um, okay cool...I guess I'll be eating a cold steak anyways. She didn't apologize or seem to care that I was unhappy. Service was slow otherwise. Steak was ok, nothing special. Really disappointed we waited 2 hours for crappy service and cold food. I have come here twice and for the price we have decided that this restaurant is just too inconsistent to waste our time on!!! The Keg for the past 7 years has been hands down my favorite restaurant!!! We lived in Edmonton Alberta for the last 7 years and literally every Keg in Edmonton in top notch. Since moving to Abbotsford we have come to the Keg twice and both times we left disappointed. I always order the ribeye steak and my wife usually gets the filet mignon or a NY strip. The first time we went here my wife's striploin came out well done and my ribeye came out medium well. Considering we both like medium rare steaks this was disappointing. Not to mention that my ribeye was much thinner than the ribeyes I have ordered probably over 50 times in Edmonton... So I was pretty much done with the Keg at this point... However we decided to eat at the Keg in Whistler and our overall experience there was very good!! So on my birthday we decide to try the Keg 1 more time in abby... My wife ordered the filet mignon and I got the ribeye and lobster. My wife's steak was actually pretty good. My steak was a good size steak and thicker than the steak I had previously gotten the time before... It was also cooked correctly! I am not sure if the cooks here cut their own steaks but what sucked was my steak was not cut properly and while I had a good looking thick steak that was cooked properly it was ridiculously tough and disappointing... However the lobster turned out excellent which is weird because my rule of thumb is dont order steaks at a seafood restaurant and dont order seafood at a steakhouse... overall I am pretty disappointed with this location. read more

Last evening we celebrated our 54th anniversary at the Abbotsford Keg. We arrived early thinking it opened at 4:30. It was over 90 degrees outside. Manager Tristan Laurence led us onto the patio at a table in the shade and brought us ice water with lemon to drink When inside, he seated us at nice quiet table. We ordered the prime rib and twice baked potatoes. The meal was awesome and filling, Our server Jordan was attentive but not pushy. When we finished our meal and were full, we were served a beautiful dessert. We had posted our story on Facebook and over 100 said we should share our story. We plan to be back next year for our 55th (or sooner)!!!! read more

Been to lots of keg restaurants over the years. Worst experience last night Sat in bar first to get drink. Almost left cause took so long. Then our server sucked couldn't understand him.
