    Garlic noodles
    Andrea W.

The food at The Kickin' Crab was satisfying, but the overall atmosphere during my visit made it really difficult to enjoy the meal. Here is what we ordered: Clams: The clams were fresh, well-cooked, and came tossed in a rich, flavorful cajun spice blend that had a great kick to it. Garlic Noodle): A solid side dish. They were buttery, savory, and had a strong garlic aroma that paired perfectly with the seafood. Shrimp Boil: The shrimp were large, juicy, and soaked up the seasoning blend beautifully. It's exactly what you want from a classic seafood boil bag. The Downside: While the kitchen did a great job, the dining experience was completely derailed by the noise level. There was a table of people nearby that was unbelievably loud. They were practically screaming the entire time, completely overpowering the restaurant's background music. It's hard to fully enjoy your food when you can barely hear yourself think over the shouting next to you. The food itself easily warrants a higher rating, but a chaotic dining environment cuts the experience down to a flat 3 stars for this visit.

We came to see the hype from the old building of what used to be an Izzy's pizza. The place is very huge and well spaced out, the seats were comfy and there were giant TVs everywhere. It was a super clean establishment and everyone who worked there was super kind. Grabbed their promo of 1lb of snow crab with potato and sausages $38.99 is a steal! We got the lowest level of spice and picked the kickin sauce. The sauce is pretty mellow, and not spicy at all. Maybe more of a sriracha meets butter and garlic (although you can't taste the garlic much). The crab was ample and the single potato is a bit lacking at first glance but as you chow down it's more than enough. We got super full halfway through. My biggest gripe is after eating here we all (3 of us) had horrible stomachaches. Some of us lived in the bathroom all night. This isn't to create negativity and I'm just sharing our experience as we were super excited to eat here. I'm not sure why this happened as the seafood tasted very fresh, but I'm thinking maybe it's the amount of butter or something in the sauce specifically or how they make their sauce. It just didn't sit well with all three of us. Would we return? Probably somewhere in the future.

I was honestly surprised by the portion sizes here! I've tried a lot of seafood boil spots around Portland, and this place definitely has the freshest crawfish by far. The portions are generous, and everything tasted amazing. There's also plenty of parking, which is a huge plus. Tip: Get the garlic noodles -- I seriously can't stop thinking about them! Highly recommend!

Service is super fast and friendly. They answered all our questions, gave us suggestions on the menu, and told us about their specials. Ambiance upbeat family restaurant. Kid friendly and very clean. Food came out super fast, warm, and delicious.

This place was delicious and the garlic noodles was probably the best I have had in a longtime. Portions were great and a decent amount. We had each ordered 1/2 pound of snow crab that came with sausages and potatoes and added 2 orders of boiled eggs. We also got 1/2 of shrimp as well and this was for 1 person so we ordered 2, one for me because I am a big back and one for him. Service was great and very attentive. Definitely would recommend if you are looking for some seafood! Unfortunately, I was not able to snap any photos as I was SO hungry and went in as soon as It arrived.

You can absolutely smell the fish and vinegar as soon as you walk through the door, which I think gives the place a very homey pub feel. I ordered a spiked peach Arnold Palmer, which I enjoyed (and it was pleasantly strong) and a glass of the house white, which was good for the price. Our server was very fast and attentive. To eat I got the tomato soup with a grilled cheese, which was absolutely fantastic. The soup was so creamy and flavorful, and I cannot imagine a better meal after spending all day walking outside in the rain. The fries were super crispy and I liked the batter. My partner and I shared some of their breadsticks, which were deliciously baked (fresh!) and came with a super refreshing basil crema and a nice tomato-y dip. Wonderful all. My partner ordered fish and chips, and was surprised to find that it is one large fillet of fish, not multiple pieces like you would typically expect. He said the fish was fine, but a little tough. Overall, a wonderful experience. I definitely hope to return. I highly recommend this place as a refuge during the cold winter months!

We came here because I heard they have a great seafood menu and my kids recently started enjoying oysters and other shellfish that used to be "gross". We got here about 15 minutes to opening on a Friday night and there was already a line. We were fortunate to still get a spot outside which worked out because it wasn't too hot and the outdoor space is much more spread out than inside. We ordered a dozen oysters to start. Love their various droppers with infused mignottes and hot sauces. Really made it fun to try out different combos. We also got the cold smoked mussels, the hamachi crudo, grilled oysters, lobster roll, rockfish, and the little gem salad. In order of least favorite to favorite, the little gem salad was good but just not that memorable or spetqcular the way the other dishes were. Next, the grilled oysters were flavorful with the garlic and lime but I wished there was a little more kimchi flavor and overall more sauce given the size of the oysters (they were huge!). The lobster roll was good and I appreciated the different take on a lobster roll but my favorite lobster rolls that really accentuate the lobster flavor and this masked it a little. The hamachi crudo was a surprise. It's a dish you see a lot and I was a little worried about how the pineapple might overtake the rest of the flavors but that didn't happen. The balance between sweet, savory, sour, and crunch from the peanuts was perfect and every bite was really enjoyable. Finally, my favorite was the cold smoked mussels. You never know how fish sauce and tom kha might overwhelm everything but again, their chef understands flavor balance really well. You could taste all the flavors, the smokiness, the slight bitter and sour umami flavors and slight sweetness to round it out. It was outstanding and highly recommend. They also have great cocktails that go well with their dishes. Really enjoyed the experience here and will definitely come back.

Both were flavorful and filling, and satisfied our craving just right. The cornbread served with our meals was also super tasty, with a light and sweet flavor that complimented our dishes well. Our waitress was very kind and attentive and made an effort to ensure our dining experience was a pleasant one. She offered to get us a to-go container for the seafood broth before we even asked, and I'm so glad we took her up on that offer because that broth made a great second meal the next day! We visited during a time they weren't particularly busy (about 4pm), but even then a few tables were occupied. It's clear that this location has more activity into the evening, especially since there is a full bar and they don't close until 10pm most days. We were also pretty happy with the price, considering we've paid more for less food at other restaurants offering seafood boils. We'll definitely be eating here again!

Because it's Mardi Gras, I was hoping for some Jambalaya or Gumbo of some of that good New Orleans stuff. With that said, before heading home, we searched online where nearby we could go for take out. We did have another market, Shell Gas station not far from where we started, but their Jambalaya was like 'soy sauce colored rice'. THAT's not what I'm craving for! We found one further, and they have Seafood Gumbo, so we drove there. I thought it would take faster than 15 mins. but first we have to wait until the waitress, who told us to seat & wait, she'll give us the menu, (we just found the menu from their website), she wasn't free for a long time. The Seafood Gumbo order came with corn bread and rice. I've eaten Southern & Northern style foods in the past, but the cornbread was probably one of the worst I've eaten! Dry like the Sahara Desert, and old! I took one look at the Gumbo, and I wasn't sure what it was on top, it freaked me out! It was probably one of the largest clam, but I like mine in bite size pieces, not one as big as my tongue. For awhile there, I thought it was a body of a squid, but I like mine toasted, crispy or fried. There's shrimp, and clams with shells. The taste was so-so, hubby did liked it, so he'll eat all of my portion. I did took a couple of spoonfuls, but that's it! (For now, I'm done craving for Gumbo soup!, Corn bread, too!) The staff that was helping us, was cordial, so I give her points for that!
