This place was recommended by my co-worker and so I had to check it! First thing I loved was that there was a waitlist. This may seem crazy to some but that is usually a sign for how good the food is. I also enjoyed the fact that they used Yelp to work their waitlist and that you can see where you are in the "line". After getting seated, I was greeted by Ryan who made my first experience in a mukbang style restaurant an awesome one! He explained their set up: You pick your meat, then add your sauce, then you say how mild or spicy you want it and then you can add extras. I ended up doing a pound of shrimp without the head with corn and did the kickin sauce in spicy and a side order of Cajun fries. *INCOMPETENCE AT IT'S FINEST* My family and I (7 adults, 3 kids under 12yrs old) wanted kickin crab for our weekly family outing/dinner. We frequent the Chino Hills or Corona location but decided to try Riverside since that was a shorter driver for most of us. BIG MISTAKE! This location is a joke. It started off really good. The wait time wasn't too bad. Once we got seated we received our drinks within 10 mins and our appetizers within 20mins. The rice didn't come, so we figured they were gonna to bring it out with our food, no problem. After 45 mins, our food came out. Two different employees started passing out the bags but we were all confused as the bags didn't match what we ordered, that's when our server came over to one of the guys and said "I'll do it, I messed up". We all got a bag that was as close as possible to our actual order and from there it took 15 minutes for them to fix each bag. 1- missing sausage 2- fish tacos came 10-15 mins after everyone got their food. 3- asked for mild and got spicy. 4- asked for spicy and got medium, missing potatoes, had sausage. 5- MISSING THE SHRIMP! It only had clams, potatoes and sausage The other 3 bags thankfully were correct as well as the kids orders. The bag missing sausage was corrected. The spicy bag, we were given 2 sides of garlic butter sauce to lessen the spice, it brought it down to a medium slice which was edible but still spicy. The bag missing shrimp, they dumped in some shrimp we mixed it to get it covered in the sauce. The bag that had unwanted sausage, medium spice instead of hot and missing potatoes, they brought 3 potatoes in a desperate bag and charged us for the potatoes twice (I caught it on the bill and of course had them remove it). That was strike #1 most of our order was wrong. The 2 sides of rice NEVER arrived, as we were half way finish with our food I asked our server to remove the rice from our bill please since it never came, she said ok. No apology, no explanation why it wasn't brought out, bo big deal. The forgotten rice was strike #2 A couple people in our party were done eating but most of us were still eating, almost done, that's when our server gives us the bill. We were surprised and a bit confused but we kept eating our food as our hands are messy and we're not gonna stop eating our dinner. 5 minutes later, our server comes to check if we're ready to pay as she has the credit card machine in her hand . We said no, but stopped eating so we can just pay. A couple mins later another employee comes with the credit card machine and asks if we're ready to pay now, NO WE ARE EATING, WE ARE NOT READY. Regardless, we pay so we can finish eating without them hounding us. When we finish eating, our goes to the restroom a couple at a time. There's only 2 stalls in each, no reason for all 11 of us to charge into the restroom. The last 2 people in our party in the restroom and our server comes to our table again. She says, I'm sorry but I've been told to let you guys know that each table is only reserved for 90 minutes and you guys are almost at the time. I know that you guys are still using the restroom but they wanted me to let you know. Never in my life have we had an employee say this to any of us. We kindly remind her that we're almost finished and that a lot of time was wasted because half of our orders were wrong and needed to be fixed. We obviously didn't feel comfortable waiting for the last person in our party to get out of the restroom, so we waited outside to avoid being harassed again. Mind you, we came all the way from South Temecula so yeah we're all going to use the restroom before we drive 45 mins back home. We're also not the only people in the restaurant, so we obviously had to wait in line for the restroom. We didn't start eating until an hour in, so we ate for what...25 minutes? That's too long now?? How dare they treat customers that way 10 people for ~$450, you would think we would receive decent service at the very least. Nope! Not here lol. We love kickin crab but won't ever return to the Riverside location. Complete garbage. DO BETTER! Not every party would have handled this unpleasant experience as graciously as we did. Made an online order to go, order said ready at 5:20 made me wait 20 more minutes. before you might think "oh they're packed and busy" keep in mind the to-go is strictly for those two employees and my food was sitting there since I arrived but instead they let 5 other customers that walked in after me get their bags and I was id and card ready. It's really hard for me to give low remarks to restaurants, I typically just avoid it. However, I think it needs to be said that their service is extremely subpar and disappointing. The food is fairly good (relative to other seafood boils around here), so I've come on numerous occasions. Unfortunately, every time I leave a little more disappointed than the last. At this point I'm not sure if it's worth tolerating. Since the quarantine, I've tried to call in to place a takeout order however no one would answer. Sure, I'd get busy a tone but the times I've actually got it to ring, no one answers. Odd. Today, someone finally answered and I was told orders were a minimum of $75 and an hour wait. *blank stare. Wow. I won't sit here and disparage their business practices because I'm sure they have their strategic reasons due to the pandemic. I just want to express my whole hearted disappointment for the families and individuals who aren't able to enjoy the food because of this $75 minimum policy. Again, I'm not sure what's going on internally in the business. I'm sure their business has been affected by the pandemic, but I can't help but to be sad about it? Was there truly no other way? I'm surprised there aren't more reviews commenting on this policy. The location is in a predominately low income area... how is anyone affording this? How do they expect the individual who typically pays $30 for a bag of shrimp, justify now having to spend an extra $45 on food they may not even get through? It just feels grossly unfair and unjust to me. It doesn't make sense and because of that, I'm probably going to take my business elsewhere. Again, the food is decent for the area. If you're willing to dish out that $75, rock on!
