I'll start with the bad.... We had made reservations weeks in advance for my birthday and somehow they stuck us at the bar staring at the employee sink. Not exactly our vision of a nice date night. FOODS IS NASTY! We ordered the peel and eat shrimp and they were mushy and gross. The cocktail sauce was also very bland. Hostess guy was a tool and laughed at my wife when she told him the restaurant was freezing and proceeded to sit us under a vent as he walked away with the biggest grin . This is a must go to get away from the busy downtown and high energy spots such as Mt Pleasant. My wife and I stopped in for a Thursday night dinner the view was incredible and luckily the heat broke in the late summer for us to enjoy their porch. They have amazingly fresh seafood and although I'm not usually a fan, the grilled octopus melted in my mouth. I could've eaten 4 plates of that all by itself. We then partook in the low country seafood tower. Oysters, clams, crab, peel and eat shrimp. You know, the whole 9 yards. Service was excellent. Cocktails had fresh squeezed ingredients as well, fresh right when you order it fresh. I have no complaints. This place is amazing! read more

We had a wonderful dinner at Kingstide last night over on Daniel island. This large indoor/outdoor seafood restaurant with awesome views of the Wando River from the rooftop bar is all about fresh seafood. We were seated upon arrival immediately at a beautiful booth and our server Rachel came over soon after and was a delight to work with. We were in the mood for a sampling of a few items so we ordered and shared Tuna Tartar--Crab Fried Rice--Caesar Salad--Trout Ruben--and side order of Season fries all washed down with perfectly crafted Martinis by bartender Jacqueline. Manager Cody came over to make sure we were well taken care of. All in all an over the top 10 dining experience for ambience service and food we highly recommend Kingstide. read more

During our trip to Charleston I was most excited about eating here because it was so cute and the menus had so many options. {The only thing I wished I had paid more attention to was the separate menus meant separate dining areas which in hindsight makes complete sense but I was not prepared for.} I made a reservation for 6:30, but arrived quite early by accident and they were able to seat us right away. I had requested that I wanted to sit outside but realized that was the upstairs bar area and not where reservations were made. My fault, but the dining room was lovely and the dishes on that menu were more upscale (totally fine - I just had my mind set on something lighter) but did not disappoint at all. Our waitress Karoline was so sweet and helpful in explaining all of the above to me and didn't make me feel silly. My husband got the ahi tuna which was divine (one of his favorite dishes of the whole trip) and I got peel and eat shrimp which was exactly towards what I was craving. We each got the Brussel sprouts as a side (probably my favorite side of the whole trip). They were so good I would have gotten another order if I hadn't have been so full. Karoline also recommended the Apple pie dumpling with butter pecan ice cream for dessert -- 10/10 for sure! Lovely atmosphere, cute area, wonderful service, great food! read more

My wife and I went to Kingstide and had the tower and the fish slider and it was amazing. The bartender Joe was a fellow Marine and kept us laughing all night. We stopped in for a cocktail and ended up staying for dinner because we had such a great time. The kingstide is a stunning space on Daniels island. Overall had a good experience but I ordered the mussels which were tasty but was disappointed as they were $15 and I only got 10 mussels total. The bread was more of a sourdough toast and mussels should really be served with more of a crusty baguette. The fish sliders were super tasty. Would definitely recommend going for a drink and taking in the view. read more

Terribly overrated. The service was good and the atmosphere is beautiful, but the food is simply substandard. Among the several bad dishes we were served was what they called Oysters Rockefeller. What they served was as close to Rockefeller as I am to being the Dalai Lama. Oysters served in a bland cream goop of some sort, no spinach, no Pernod, no hollandaise, just a waste of an otherwise good oyster. The salads were soggy and drowning in dressing. The brussels sprouts were cold and the trout dry, and the octopus was simply horrible. We had hoped for food that matched the surroundings, but $600 for the four of us for this was an insult. Save your money and time for a restaurant that actually has a staff that can cook. read more

I recently dined at the Kingstide and our entire experience was 5 stars from start to finish. We were immediately greeted by the sweet hostess Maggie and sat quickly, with her accommodating our request to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful views. Our server, Izzy, was very knowledgeable about the oyster selection and we enjoyed a delicious dozen from her recommendation in addition to the Burrata and Tuna Tartare. It was the best tartare I've enjoyed in a very long time, the orange and ponzu blended together nicely and the whole dish was well balanced. And you can never go wrong with a Burrata - this one was no different. Another server, Lauren, stopped by to compliment my drink choice (the Grandad's Garden) and encouraged us to try her favorite, the Fish Sliders. The seasonal white fish and seared Tuna for dinner were the perfect size portions and tasted so fresh you'd think they'd been caught off the dock just steps away from the patio where we dined. The manager, Johnathon, stopped by to check on us and we raved about our whole experience. Following dinner we enjoyed cocktails at the rooftop bar, the Espresso Martini was to die for! If you find yourself in Charleston, the service, food, and atmopshere at the Kingstide is worth the short trip to Daniel Island. read more

Kingstide on Daniel Island is smoking hot these days if you are lucky enough to get a reservation. We were seated Friday evening at a great table with best service from Drew a transplant from California. We had a great view of the waterfront and the hip beautiful young customers. Our first course started with a dozen variety of fresh oysters washed down with gourmet crafted Kettle one Cointreau Cosmos and Tanqueray extra dry Martinis. We followed with grilled Octopus and Tuna Tartar and finished with a bottle of champagne paired with a whole red snapper. Chef Brandon was at the top of his game tonight and manager impeccably dressed Gina originally also from California was gracious as always as she came over to greet us. I highly recommend Kingstide for great food and service in an exciting and beautiful waterfront setting on Daniel Island. Reservations absolutely required. read more

Our party of 6, plus a toddler, were so excited to have dinner at Kingstide in Daniel Island. Things started out fairly well and we all noticed our waitress was a little blunt and sarcastic but just chalked it up to it being her personality. She insisted we order our appetizers and entrees at the same time so that "the kitchen could plan accordingly ". All of the food came out together. When we ordered our wine, our waitress told us it was half price for bottles of wine. Our waitress brought us an order of delicious cauliflower, which she said "was a gift from the kitchen". We never saw our waitress again. No water refills, no drink refills, no mention of dessert. When another server brought our check, we had been charged full price for the bottle of wine, and we were charged $15 for the cauliflower. We brought it to the new server's attention and she corrected it. We ordered the kids grilled cheese for our 22 month old and it was ridiculous...each piece of bread was an inch thick, cheese not melted, no butter on the bread. Not sure what was going on but we will not be returning and will not be recommending it to our friends. read more

Hostess and servers suffered from "tik-tok" brain - distracted, disoriented, and uncommunicative. The management was dismissive, deriding, and disrespectful. A simple request unleashed a battleground of patronizing comments from management. As a self-professed foodie and a frequent visitor to the Lo Country (17 trips in 18 years), I was speechless. It would be fun atmosphere for a drink on a nice evening, but the food was beyond disappointing! A simple cobb salad was absolutely horrible and served with shrimp totally in their shells (not just the tails) mixed into the salad so you had to extract them, then de-shell at the table getting your hands filthy while trying to enjoy the meal - not pleasurable at all! What's worse is we were told other people have mentioned this and yet they continue to serve it this way. The fish reuben was equally disappointing! read more
