Picked up my car from service and was cutting through to Woodmere when my stomach told me it was lunchtime. Just so happened The Kitchen was in my path. I've been admiring their cool sign and building for a while now, just hadn't had an opportunity to stop in. Boy am I glad I did! Vast selection of freshly prepared items - soups, salads, wraps, sandwiches, even tasty looking tacos. They also serve breakfast until 10:30. Everything is to-go, though they do have some seating inside and picnic tables outside. I tried their Tex Mex Cesar Wrap which was delicious, and enormous. Very reasonably priced too - you can get a great lunch for well under 10 bucks. And to me it's definitely worth the 5min drive from my office downtown! read more

My go-to lunch spot in Traverse City. I travel in quite a bit for work and The Kitchen is both quick and delicious. My favorite is the Roasted Turkey Club sandwich. I usually ask for it toasted and with a bit of sriracha on it. YUM. My coworkers rave about their salads and soups. You honestly can't go wrong. read more

I have been coming to The Kitchen for about 5 years now and they never fail to amaze me! The staff are so friendly and helpful as soon as you walk in the door! They always say hello when they're able to whenever I walk in. They are so quick at getting food ready in record times. Even if I call ahead of time, they always have it ready when I get there. You can most likely expect some sort of delay around 12:00 because they seem to get quite busy during that timeframe, but they still do a great job of getting things done. Of course there has been mistakes with my order, but that happens! They have always apologized and remade my meal for me as soon as I brought it to their attention. Love the food! First time ordering the delivery option and it was horrible. I waited 45 minutes for a delivery when I live 4 minutes away. Wife and I decided to go there for a quick bite after taking care of some relocation business since we're moving to the area. The menu was pretty robust and everything looked great. Food was very good too as I had the turkey club and she had the grilled cheese. The rest of the business is poorly layed out. There's limited seating and if your in a wheelchair, we'll you'll just have to eat out of your lap. The tables are all bar style with nothing Lowe than chest height (if your standing). There's also no designated handicap parking so don't be surprised when you go to leave you don't have room to get into your car. This place would've got 5 stars but they failed miserably on accommodating any customers with a disability. Hopefully they read this and make some changes. read more

My first time in. The staff was very friendly and all had big smiles. I could tell they enjoyed what they did! I ordered the pork burrito and found it was everything that I had hoped for. Even better yet, after making the staff member explain all the different deserts they had at the cashier, I decided to go with the brownie... I had to get another! We just had all 4 of their tacos: Chicken, Beef, BBQ, and Buffalo. Very disappointing. Firstly, they are not tacos, they are quesadillas. No fresh veggies on any of them, though the first two had pico that was cooked by being inside. The chicken taco was very dry and bland. The beef taco was not dry, but it was bland as well. It also tasted terrible. Low quality dried thyme often tastes almost like mold, and that is the only thing I could taste in the beef. The buffalo chicken was very bland as well. Underseasoned, and barely even a hint of hot sauce. It pretty much just tastes like a mild blue cheese. The BBQ was the only good one, and that was disappointing too because it had no Mexican flare to it aside from the almost condescending presence of jalapenos. As a matter of fact, there was literally nothing in this taco aside from the BBQ pork and peppers. The reason I don't give them 1 star is because it was fun trying all of these terrible quesatacos with my girlfriend and scoffing at them together. read more

The salted focaccia that my half sandwich was served on was mighty tasty. The amount of mayo on the bread was not offensive, it was only slight. The other ingredients tasted fresh, turkey, lettuce, tomato. I had a cup of soup, tomato artichoke. I love artichokes so this was happy. I also had some tea to drink. Shhhh, don't tell anyone it's here! The Kitchen is one of my favorite places to grab lunch. I've never had a bad meal, they serve Northwoods Soda, and those desserts! Fantastic, fast food at a great price. Got a cuban sandwich and it came with huge hunks of pulled pork and was one of the best cuban sandwiches I've ever had. This place is good for going to lunch - it's mainly take out. I have to say i was disappointed in the catering. We spent $139 for 3 dishes. 2 Doz potatoe bites (good but small - $40 for this was a rip off) + 2 Doz tomatoe mushroom tooth pic dealios (not very taste and a rip of for $40) + 2 doz chicken with peanut sauce - the chicken was rubbery I don't know how old it was but it wasn't very good. My biggest beef is the amount of food you get for $139. If I spent that much at Applebees or BWW I would have got way more bang for the buck. Lunch there is 4 star - catering is 2.5 star. read more

My family visited this restaurant based on a recommendation. We ordered a hot turkey, Mac attack, cup of soup, and a Cuban sandwich. My mom was eating the hot turkey & 1/2 way in she found a piece of hair wrapped around the turkey. She took the food back to the register and informed them. They barely apologized & offered to remake the same dish. The same dish that she just found the hair in...no thanks. They did give her a free cup of soup for her experience. In good faith, I can't recommend this restaurant to friends or family. When we were there, no one removed the turkey from service and so we could only assume it was sold to other patrons. read more

The grilled caprice salad sandwich is awesome! One of my favorite work week carry out places, I only wish they delivered!!!! I love picking up dinner on the way home after work too. The turkey dinner is a hit with my family any night of the week. Costs the same as a few pizzas and is so much more satisfying. I am always tempted by the deli case salads and the yummy desserts. There is nothing else like The Kitchen in TC. I always walk away happy. It is worth the small journey to it's quirky location! read more

I found a hair in a salad while I was there, showed it to staff & the lady with Nyack hair & a black cooks coat on, she ssid in front of everyone that they'll never be able to please her anyway.
