Delicious food! I highly recommend The Lauber. The staff went above and beyond my expectations to provide a safe dining experience. Charles took excellent care of us. We enjoyed some great cocktails and small plates, then topped our evening off with a perfectly prepared artisan pizza. My first time coming here I wasn't expecting to like it so much, but I did get a little hooked during my stay. I usually come in nearing dinner time so of course its usually busy if not packed, but I've never waited long. The restaurant looks nice and clean, the staff are kind, and the bartenders and waiters/ waitresses have good suggestions even if everything on the menu sounds good. I've tried different things here and unfortunately there is a dish or two that they aren't currently serving now but was it divine! As far as I know they aren't serving the penne vodka which for me, was quite addicting, I could slurp down that bad boy and one of their desserts, the butter cake. If I ever see butter cake on a restaurant menu that is my go-to happy ending. So, if Lauber could bring that back, that'd be lovely, thank you! They do have other wonderful choices down from their tasty appetizers to their entrees. At least try their dippity dough da or even one of their specialty pizzas because they have a good way of slapping those things together. And if you're not hungry they have a variety of alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic of course if you're into that sort of thing. read more

The Lauber is one of my favorite restaurants in South Bend. I have been coming here since it first opened. The restaurant it's self is very clean and has a nice look. They also have a rather large outdoor seating area. The outdoor seating area is dog friendly and has a very nice staff. The dish for me that is always on point is the rigatoni it's very good. We liked this place so much we ate here both nights we were in town. Couldn't find anything we thought we would like better. Nice craft cocktail selection and beer selection. We tried and artisan pizza the first night and a cauliflower the next night, both were amazing. We had the shishito peppers appetizer both nights, so good I took a picture to try and replicate this at home. We also had the cauliflower and curds, which looks not appetizing but it was also very good. The staff was nice and appropriately using gloves and masks. read more

My family is in town from the East Coast and we have gone to days in a row. The pizzas, salads, drinks, and details are incredible, and staff remember you and make sure you feel completely at home. Whatever salad or pizza you get, be sure to try the green goddess dressing. I think it's homemade and it's so good. Also, take a chance on the cauliflower and curds. I was pleasantly surprised not to have everything breaded... It was great flavor and perfect touches. I guess I'll be going back tomorrow too if my family has their way! read more

I so wanted to like this place. I gave it 3 stars as I don't want to hammer it on just my first visit. I will go back to give it another shot and hope for better results. Be ready for really noisy if it's a busy night. There is nothing to absorb the cacophony of sound and thus conversation can be difficult. The kale salad was full of yellowed leaves with blackening edges - completely unacceptable by any means. The good kale was tough with long stems. Everything else in the salad was lovely (more apple, please.) The warm wrap with cashew hummus was great. The tomato pie didn't feel like an appropriate side dish to the wrap. It was tasty to be sure but something lighter and refreshing would have been nice. The pizza needs some work. The crust looked like it was of the precooked variety. It was wet underneath and didn't have that hot out of the oven quality. A real wood- burning pizza oven and fresh dough would make it pizza worth returning for. read more

Ok, so I wanted to try this out as it is relatively new to the South Bend area. I am impressed with the receptive staff and their knowledge of the beer menu. This restaurant offers a contemporary industrial aesthetic and is very welcoming. Social distancing is employed here and the staff is friendly and wears masks. However, the only reason this restaurant gets 4 stars instead of 5, is that I ordered the grilled cheese macaroni sandwich, with added brisket and side of fries. The fries came out over done and were rock hard, but the mac and brisket was on point and I couldn't ask for a better sandwich. I would reccomend this place and I will definitely be returning again. Did I mention that they have a really serious selection of beer? Because that is probably the best attribute of The Lauber! Good job guys! And remember to take the fries out sonner! read more

Ribs were so dry - fries were served cold - cole slaw had very little taste. They didn't have a drink menu and I was told to scan a QR code. Words can't begin to describe this feeling of distaste and disgust that I'm experiencing right now. First of all, I got their "signature" burger and I ate the whole thing because I was starving but now as I'm leaving the place I feel sick to the stomach. Secondly and most importantly, the service was awful. The servers never came around and I practically had to beg for someone to come over and take my order. We were even kicked out of our table because a bigger group needed to be seated and the waitress told us to "hurry up since the group needed to be seated right now". And guess where we were seated: at the one table where the sun's scorching in your eyes! About the only saving grace for this place was the live music which was nice and not too loud while you're eating.
