Whether you are a small kid, medium kid, or big kid, Legos are da bomb. My favorite ones are the Star Wars ones. They got everything Lego in this Lego store from huge kits to separate pieces individually packed or packaged for the true blue collectors. The staff are cool and customer service is good. There was this one time I was picking up an order of Legos and one of the staff helped me through the back door all the way up to the upper level parking lot where I parked. Every kid loves Legos. It is hard not to look at a Lego and not touch it. The prices are pretty up there but I think it should be worth it because Legos are just awesome toys to play with. Reasonable prices at this store, even for Hawaii. Maybe 5-10% higher than their mainland counterparts. The store had lots of more rare large boxes, which was odd. Very courteous staff and my son loved to roam around while we visited the mall in Hawaii. read more

When I was 7 years old, I got a large LEGO set for Christmas. Til this day, it remains my favorite gift I had ever got. It was remarkable for me because not only I learned many technical base skills from it, but I got to stretch my imagination so far with anything I build. Also, this remains the only LEGO set I had ever owned as my family was poor then. Fast forward to now, where I am 28 years old, but still, I get a huge kick out of going to this store. Sure, I wouldn't buy a set of LEGO now, but I'm always tempted to try relive my childhood by getting one. Oh well. The store is separated by two walls. My favorite stuff is always on the right wall. Whenever we go to the mall these days my son always make a stop at the Lego store. He loves to play the computer games there. Also you can build your own lego people which he likes to do. He is still a little to young yet for the lego sets. They always have some cool samples of lego things made. They seem to change it every once in a few weeks or months. I really like the VW bus that they have at the front window display. I'm sure as my son gets older we will be shopping there. For now just to play the computer games and look around. I love lego! Always have! I was incredibly excited when they opened at Ala Moana and hope they do not close down soon (as so many stores in the mall do). The place could be easily chaotic but it's very organized and well-lit. There are enough employees to man the different sections of the store (relatively small store) so nothing is really out of place for long. The staff are knowledgable, helpful and welcoming. They greet you upon entering. I just feel, though, that lego sets are crazy pricey for what they are. I do love that there are so many sets and characters to choose from! The choices are endless! I love it. I do wish there were more female characters available (in the traditional lego, not that new frou-frou line they made targeted to little girls). There is an area there that you can build-your-own lego person and it is available in a set of 3. You build 3 lego figures and pay $10. This store also offers the monthly workshops for kids, which is a free miniature project that kids can make in the store and take home. I highly recommend this place for holiday gifts for children of all ages. Otherwise, sometimes Walmart offers sets at a slightly lower price. read more

Who would have thought that LEGO would be still be around and this popular. Your limited to your imagination and what other toy than LEGO to build them on. Makes me want to go Lego Land every time I walk into this store. New sets stock the shelves and additional building pieces available for those crafty architects. Having my first LEGO set 28 years ago, I introduced my 1st 2 children to it the same time as I did and the sets continued to pile on with so many themes to choose from. To change things up, going against manufactures age recommendation, my 2year old plays with the older aged sets. It started at 18 months old, after knowing what he can and can't put in his mouth due to choking hazards he found some of the older kids LEGO pieces, not DUPLO. He picked at it first then was showed to out them together. Some frustration with those tight lock but overall extremely happy baby in the end. He's developed the technical skills refining his fine motor skills with those lil pcs like the 1x1 pcs, the colors used for the pieces are very distinguished making it easy for identification and also learning how to count makes it fun and easy using LEGO. What a great store to visit for kids! From ages 2-82, it's fun to create anything your imagination will take you. For my son, it's ships, monsters, and cars. We spent an hour in that store and that's not uncommon. There are lego stations where kids can build whatever their heart desires. There's even a station for girls with pink, purple, and green legos. For a mere 9.99 you can build 3 characters. For the huge wall of legos, you can fill up a small cup with as many legos as it can hold for 7.99 or a large cup for 14.99. Normally, they have really cool lookin legos other than the typical bricks, but today it was just the same ole same ole save for a few red flowers. They have a promotion going on now until the end of March. If you spend 50$ or more on Star Wars lego sets, you get a free frigate(small pack of 45 legos that make a ship or something). Oh and the star war packs of legos with the little green dude swiping his green light saber in the corner of the upper left of the box...that means those are new for 2013. We settled on a Star wars space ship...though I think hubs really wanted to vicariously live through my son...so it's really for him. My son is just there for the ride. =) For a mere 3 bucks you can pick a mystery character. The sales rep, Nate, asked who it was for. We replied it was for our 3 year old daughter. So he made sure it was a "girl" lego. I mentioned she would love the mermaid lego, since she loves mermaids. He grabbed 20 packs and started feeling for the mermaid lego character. I just opened up the mystery lego....sure enough....we got our mermaid. Thanks a million, Nate!!! So we spent 65$ on some toys. Pricey, but it's constructive play at home that'll keep my kid happily using his imagination for hours...and that's priceless. read more

OH MY GOODNESS. It's a little kid's (and major lego fan's) dream come true. You can make (and buy) lego figures, buy cups of different lego pieces, get lego sets, etc. Very impressive. All the children running around looked so happy here!!! Plus the displays on the walls with tiny objects made out of lego were cute. However, it's pretty CRAZY, sometimes. Horrible store .. I tried to do a return and they needed the actual card holder present. My son decided he wanted another toy so we wanted to do a return and they wouldn't let me. I had proof that I was the main account holder and that the credit card was linked to my account but it didn't matter to them! I'm overall not a happy customer.. NEVER SHOPPING there again. Great store, amazing location and an even better selection. They tend to rearrange the store every so often so if you don't see what you're looking for, just take a quick peak. They have a build-your-own character station, where your kid can build 3 Lego figures for $10. However, this station attracts snot-nosed, spoiled kids snatching whatever pieces my kid is trying to use. It's like Black Friday, 3 to 4 feet deep. This store also offers the monthly mini-model build workshop, which is a free miniature project that kids can make in the store and take home. I wasn't aware it's meant for kids ages 6-14. My son was 4 at the time we went. When we got to the front of the line, a staff member gave me attitude when she asked his age. I told her that he is very bright and plays with the advanced Lego sets all the time. Plus, we were waiting for over two hours in line with everyone else's nosy kids, after trekking here to Ala Moana from Kapolei no less. Finally she let us in. Jesus. And of course my son finished the project perfectly. Tips: Arrive at least two hours early before the monthly workshop takes place. Get yourself some coffee and snacks for the kids. Make other people jealous. It's going to be a school night, so bring their homework too. If you're kid is 14 years old or older and waiting in line for a free toy, he ain't the smartest in the bunch. Did you know that LEGO originated in Denmark in 1940? The LEGO's motto is only the best is good enough. Wow Cy you are a LEGO nerd, serious do you know me...I googled it. I'm in my mid twen......ah mid thirties and I remember playing with legos as a kid. I remember my favorite was the red guy with the helmet and whatever I built for the guy. Yes back then you had to be creative and that was the extent of the characters, choose a color with a guy with a helmet and build. Boy I was creative, okay I lied my guy had to sit on a sad excuse of a spaceship or a something that went VROOM. What a simple concept, allow kids to be creative and let them build. Now with such a simple concept, how can a company survive this long, the answer is constantly changing. Lego still allows you to be creative but now they create characters like Star Wars, Indiana Jones and the new craze Ninja Lego. Serious Ninja legos that is fricken cool, Cy put it down so the kid looking at you can play with it. Yes the wonderful marketing team of LEGO has gone commercial and putting their brand with well know characters or new created characters. (the red ninja is my favorite) Wow wouldn't it be nice to create a store where I can buy all my lego favorites. Tada all my LEGO dreams have come true in Ala Moana Center. Located near the side by SEARS (oops closing) and LONGS. All your LEGO needs is satisfied at The Lego Store. Even though the kids weren't with me on this trip, it's hard to be a parent and walk by this store and not go in. It's nice to look at, I bought a few things, but I feel like I have more selection online than I do in this store. The staff were very attentive and nice, so that's a plus. I just don't know if this store would be the place I'd go to if I was shopping for a lego kit. It WOULD be the place for keychains, 3 for $9.99 build your own legomen set, random home accessories that are unique, but no not where I'd go for lego sets. Just as the rating says "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" Oh, how long I have waited for Hawai'i to finally get its very own Lego Store! I grew up on legos! I think we all have. If you haven't then you must have lived a very sheltered and humble childhood. It was always about who could build the biggest lego house or lego castle. And I remember I would always steal the little pirate treasure chests and take the tiny pieces of gold that was hiding inside. I would always be so fascinated how something so simple grew into such a big fad. I love LEGOS! And I still love them. When the Star Wars series came out I bought the Death Star. They also came out with a Disney; Toy Story edition. I bought a few sets from that as well. Not only do they have legos in here, but they also have key-chains and other cool lego merchandise. I love how you can walk in the back of the store and they have a section where you can buy individual lego blocks in all sorts of colors, shapes, and sizes! They even have doors and trees! When I was little I always ran out of certain blocks and in certain colors. :( I would always have to go buy another lego set just to get more legos! But not anymore! TBH we treat the store more like a showroom because of the extra "mall markup" all the sets have. Still, you can buy certain things a bit cheaper, like the mini figure 3 and 4 packs. Sign up for the free VIP card and earn $5 for every 100 points you earn in the store or online, as well as get early access to new sets and other member benefits. The store is fun for the kids who enjoy playing with the loose parts and there are monthly specials and in-store free builds where you can sign up and take home a small model, space willing. I love bringing my son here for Legos! He usually know exactly what he wants. Pretty spendy... But my son is worth every penny, so we drop in a few times a year anyways. I love the bucket of Legos too, allowed us to do some remodeling to a small pre-built castle to make it even more awesome! Feels good to feel so young and be able to enjoy this with my little boy and give him things I never had as a child. This place is awesome. I went to one on the mainland and they have this new thing that looks like an actual town of lego people. It's located near a television screen and it simulates what the people are doing and how the town goes about its everyday business. I got in trouble for picking it up and shaking it a little because that disrupted the balance of things and made the people think there was an earthquake. You could hear the lego people screaming and the buildings started to shake. It was pretty cool. read more

Pricey, but they have a lot of sets that you can't find at Wal-Mart or Toys R Us. Plus, you can get specific pieces from their back wall of loose Legos. It's a great place to take your kids to if your doing a lot of shopping and they need a sensory break for 10 or 15 minutes! read more

The staff is always friendly and welcoming whenever I stop by and has even saved me money by showing me Lego membership options and likewise opportunities. The store clerk was very friendly and especially showing my son how to play Lego Universe on their computer. Found Nya, female ninja figure from Ninjago series. Never saw this in Toys R Us or Target. This place used to be awesome. I am a lego collector and have bought thousands of dollars worth of stuff from this store. When it was on the second floor it was always well stocked and the pick a brick wall was always full of interesting pieces. Since they have moved to the third floor I have noticed that the pick a brick wall is always empty and what bricks are in the wall are plain.... I mentioned to one of the workers that the pick a brick wall is kind of empty and they told me that eventually someone will go to the back and bring the bricks out and fill the wall.... So in other words, they have the pieces in the back but are just lazy? I then notice 4 large pick a brick cups filled with interesting lego mini figure pieces. I ask the cashier if I can see them, she tells me that those are for lego employees.... What the? I asked her if they have and poly bags at all for sale. She tells me no, they have none. Well, a few minutes later I see a worker give a young kid a city poly bag for free.... I am happy for the kid, give him a bunch, I'm cool with that. But why not sell me a few? I then walk over to where the Detectives office set should be and notice it is still out of stock. I mention to my girlfriend that it has been out of stock for a week. One of the workers hear me and says that they have some in the back and if I see anything out of stock to let them know because most of it is in the back..... Why not stock it in the store! At this point I am so irritated that my girlfriend and I just leave. We were planning on buying the Detective Office set and a couple cups from the pick a brick wall but I was way to irritated and just wanted to leave..... read more
