What a delightful find! Elysees Cafe, nestled within the Alliance Française Vancouver on Cambie…read moreStreet, is a beautiful, open space that clearly prioritizes creativity and innovation. Opened in 2024, it perfectly embodies what a modern cafe should be, offering a unique blend of handcrafted coffee and pastries with French and Mexican flavors, all presented with an artistic vision. I enjoyed a pleasant 20-minute walk from home to the cafe for lunch on a beautiful day. Arriving around 11:45 AM, the place was bustling! I weaved through busy patio tables to reach the counter inside. The staff, despite the lunch hour rush, were wonderfully efficient and friendly. I ordered a matcha latte with almond milk and their hearty Bowl de Provence--a delicious salad featuring farro, egg, and potato. I seemed to be in the mood for all things green that day! On my way out, I grabbed a croissant to-go, which made for a perfect snack during my walk home. While I can't speak to the parking situation firsthand, I did notice street parking available on Cambie, as well as potential free street parking in nearby residential areas (just be mindful of permit restrictions). I'm already looking forward to my next visit to explore more of their enticing food options and specialty coffees or teas!

The yuzu was difficult to taste as it was mostly stuck at the bottom despite multiple attempts to mix it. The matcha was good but wish it had a stronger taste. Lots of seating area both inside and outside which makes for a perfect hang out spot for the summer.

It is the perfect place to drop by, pick up great food, or grab a meal before heading over the bridge after work. The food is excellent, which comes as no surprise--the chefs here are from some well-known Chinese restaurant chains. We stopped by for their weekday Afternoon Tea special (available Monday to Friday), and the service was truly attentive and friendly. Beyond the food, the ambiance is what really sets Joy Cafe apart. It has such a warm, comfortable vibe. It is clear that this is a place for long-term regulars. I witnessed a heartwarming interaction where a waitress was taking such genuine care of an elderly couple, kindly reminding them to drive slowly and safely on their way home. It's rare to find that kind of community spirit in a restaurant these days. Highly recommended!

Joy cafe has always been our go-to for a quick lunch if we cant think of a restaurant. Service has…read morealways been amazing and quality been fairly stable However, our recent visit was a bit disappointing. A group of 4 of us went for a quick lunch. We ordered 3 items: Chicken curry with spaghetti, braised pork and bitter melon with vermicelli as well as salted fish and chicken fried rice. For some reasons, all the hot drinks which accompanied the lunch set were luke warm. the chicken curry sauce was luke warm as well. The spaghetti which came with the curry was out of portion with the sauce. The amount of spaghetti was so little that we still had half the curry sauce when the spaghetti was gone. The other items were fairly greasy as well. The prices at Joy cafe has always heen a bit on the high end but quality had been stable in the past. However the quality seems to have gone downhill compared to the increased prices lately

The walls are decorated with pictures from Europe and the teacups are very "British." Besides scone and tea, you can get regular food here as well such as fries, salt & pepper chicken, and radish cake to name just a few. You can also get cold drinks like juice & bubble tea, and bubble tea drinks here too. So...not your typical British style Afternoon Tea joint. Kind of half restaurant, half tea place. My friend had a pot of Leisure Fresh Fruit tea and a scone. We'd already had lunch a bit earlier and while my friend had room for a scone, I had zero room in my stomach for any food so I just had a pot of Longan Red Date tea. It was a cold day so a pot of hot tea really hit the spot. I thought it a bit pricy at first, but when the tea came, I saw that the teabags were Fortnum & Mason teabags. That is a very a prestigious company from all the way over in England. When I realized we were drinking Fortnum & Mason tea, all of a sudden $10.25 didn't seem so extravagant any more. My friend said her scone seemed like more of a biscuit than a scone. It came with butter and jam. I think she wished there had been some clotted cream to go with it. I can't say too much about the food as I only had one pot of tea but I was impressed that it was Fortnum & Mason tea, and I very much enjoyed the flavor of the Longan & Red Dates in my tea.
