This was a great find! I was looking for an Indian food restaurant that was more central to meet friends. Parking can get a little tricky but I was able to grab a spot right in front. The interior is cozy and nicely decorated and doesn't have an overwhelming amount of tables. They seemed to stay consistently busy inside and a steady flow of carryout orders. Spice levels are always a little tricky with Indian food. I did order a mild vegetable briyani dish for my toddler but it was too spicy for him but he did devour the garlic Naan. I ordered one of the lamb dishes "mild" and my friend one of the sizzling chicken dishes "spicy." We switched dishes as the spice levels seemed to have switched from what we requested. Overall everything was delicious. Mango lassi was great and I also decided to try Masala tea, which i will definitely have to try again. read more

My friend and I ordered takeout to watch The Summer I Turned Pretty finale and it was the right choice for sure. My friend hadn't tried much Indian food before so we stuck to Butter Chicken and the Chicken Tikka Masala. We also ordered a side of garlic naan and then two mango lassis. Our bevvys were gone in minutes. My friend's husband tried some and raved about it. Definitely a winner! The butter chicken to me was perfect and came with rice as well. We had a lovely in person visit to this Business today for lunch. The staff was so sweet that I was eager to hop on here and sing their praises. We rolled in with two kiddos and properly ordered the veggie sampler appetizer, papadam and they greeted us with some fun and delicious mango lassi samples I thoroughly enjoyed my masala chai and my husband ordered the special masala soda with lime. The space is well decorated and cozy with Bollywood music videos playing in the corner. I appreciated that they had high chairs available and were accommodating of little kiddos. Our kids enjoyed sampling each of the entrées. We ended up ordering the Lentil kidney bean dish, cauliflour potato (aloo) and a new-to-me chicken dish that I'm failing to remember the name of. I satisfied my longtime curiosity of dining here when a friend suggested that we meet here for lunch. I never stopped before because they don't have a parking lot, and finding parking close by could challenging, we parked 2 blocks away. It's a small, cozy place! It wasn't very busy when we arrived, considering it was lunch time, but it got crowded while we were there and I noticed several take out orders. We were promptly greeted upon entering and since it was just the two of us, we were seated at a small table for two. However, after ordering, a side table was needed for all of our entrées! We shared the vegetable mixed platter as an appetizer, which was more than enough for the two of us. All were delicious but my favorite was the samosas with mint chutney! Stopped by The Little India Restaurant with a friend, and we were so glad that we did! I ordered the Malai Kofta and a chai and both were really good. Went 2.1.25, my first time there. They have a small parking lot and a couple of spaces for street partking, but we had to park about a block away, still not bad for a Saturday night. Cute little interior, my friend & I sat just off to the left at a table for two. The only bad thing about this is that every time the door opened, we got a blast of (really) cold air. As the restuarant got more people in it, that helped, but that is the only downside to the evening. We kept our coats on all night and I wish I had had a heavier one! My friend needs to be gluten and dairy free, and staff were very helpful in pointing ouy dishers that she would be able to safely order. She got the lamb madras. I got the galirc naan and the fish/shrimp madras. Both are served with basmati rice. Smelled and tasted SO good, I ate all of it. I tried their devour menu which was $20 for an appetizer, an entree with naan and rice and dessert. I enjoyed the samosa, butter chicken, garlic naan, and pistachio ice cream. The interior is cute and had a decent amount of seating. The service was great as they consistently checked on our table. I really enjoyed the cilantro chutney and the naan. Visiting Indy for the weekend and decided to try this Indian spot. We had several items on the menu and our favorites were Chicken 65 and the vegetable samosas. The restaurant has limited space for dining in yet we saw lots of people picking up takeout orders. We were able to be seated immediately and had excellent service. We recently ordered takeout from this place and the quality was just OK . We ordered a popular dish on the menu Chicken Tikka Masala and it was sweet . We expected it will be mild but it was sweet which is not how it should taste . The curry was too watery instead of being thick and rich in flavor . We also ordered garlic naan which lacked the garlic flavor and was a little hard to chew . My 3 star review is for the chicken 65 which spicy enough with a good flavor of garlic ginger and curry leaves . The rice we got as our side was fluffy and great ! Unfortunately we were a little disappointed with our order and it could be due to a multiple reasons like different staff , ordered on a Sunday late evening etc. We hope the restaurants improves the quality and we get try this place again ! read more

Okay, we've been going to Shalimar for 20 plus years and the food has been consistent, but then Little India opened closer to our home. It was newly opened and my carry out order took 45 min. and the biryani was oily. After that Aroma opened even closer to us. It has been inconsistent. My last order was so salty I couldn't finish it. So Lil India was tried again. Order ready quickly and food was very good. A couple things ordering online...you couldn't choose heat level (it came medium, which was perfect) and I used "online ordering by Door Dash" and it needed a verification code from a text which was never sent, after many resends, so I had to call a help line which turned out to go to Lil India who told me my order was being made. read more

The food gets 5 stars all the way! Everything was absolutely delicious. I brought a friend from Nigeria who had never had Indian food. She loves spicy dishes so I ordered the lamb karahi for her and also a butter chicken (because it's my favorite). She actually liked the butter chicken better. My daughters and I were feeling adventurous and our theme for 2022 is "experiencing something new", so we decided to go out for Indian food. My oldest daughter has had curry once and I'm not sure how authentic that was, so for all intents and purposes, this was our first experience. We were stoked! The restaurant is little, just like its name; maybe 10 tables. It was really cold that day and it felt like no matter where we sat, the table was too near to the door! It was freezing, so we ordered coffee, but that was room temperature. We weren't off to a great start, but the staff was kind, so we stayed. I decided to order several dishes for us to share. We ordered: * Vegetable samosas (2 pcs for $2.95 according to the website) - they looked nothing like they did online and they were dense and greasy. Rating: 1/5 (Sidenote: Now that I'm reviewing the menu online, I think they brought us Vegetable Pakoras by mistake. That's why we got so many and why they looked the way they did.) * Chicken Pakoras (5 pcs for $5.95) - these reminded me of chicken tenders with a denser coating, somewhat like cornbread (?), delicately spiced. Rating: 2/5 *Gobhi Manchurian w/ mild spice ($10.95) - This was actually pretty good. The description said deep-fried, but it wasn't crispy. My daughter thought it was too spicy, but I didn't think it was very spicy at all. It had a lot of good flavor. Rating 4/5 *Butter Chicken ($12.95) - This was described as spicy on the menu, but it was not at all spicy. This is what we had really come for. Everyone that we'd asked previously suggested that we order Butter Chicken as a nice, introductory dish to Indian cuisine. It was okay, but did not live up to the hype. Rating: 3/5 *Shrimp Biryani w/ medium spice ($14.95) - This was pretty straight-forward; shrimp with rice and spices. It was good and the medium spice level wasn't spicy hot, but very flavorful. Rating: 4/5 *Garlic Naan ($2.75 for 2 pcs) - Fresh and tasty, just as expected. Rating: 5/5 *Paneer Kulcha ($2.95) - I would not refer to this bread as stuffed with paneer. There was barely anything inside the bread and it lacked flavor. Rating: 1/5 I'm not sure if I chose the wrong dishes to try, the wrong restaurant or if my palate just isn't suited for Indian cuisine, but we were happy to tick this off of our bucket list. There were a couple fellas in the corner that told us they hadn't had a dish they didn't like and they come there weekly. I also saw several locals come and go with their carry-out orders. So, I'm thinking it was just our palates. Lastly, when the check came, it was a scribbled out ticket from our server's order pad. That made it difficult for me to review what I ordered and was being charged. Ultimately, I just paid the bill, but I must admit that I felt "pencil-whipped"! Me and a friend went for lunch around noon. We ordered 2 entrees (can't remember names, see photos), mango lassi beverage, and masala tea latte (hot), vegetable dumping appetizer of some kind, we also had garlic naan. Definitely a nice little restaurant for lunch, yet small with little seating, cannot imagine they have enough room for dinner if it's busy, but I haven't been there at dinner time yet. No booths , just table and chairs (tables weren't very large, not for large groups) but seating was intimate (good for dates). Price point would be moderate entry level sit-down in my opinion. But the food was amazing! They had a tv in the corner playing Indian music videos. Server was courteous and quick. Not very busy around lunch time on a Thursday. I love Little India! It's so easy to get to. It's right down 52nd, on the corner of College Ave. The parking lot is small so I usually park right in front of the restaurant on the street. It's so cute on the inside, such an intimate and cozy space. A friend of mine first introduced me to this spot, and I was thoroughly pleased. As a person that eats vegan food, I love going to a restaurant that has multiple options for me. It makes eating out with my non vegan friends joyful. I am always provided with the best care and service. I feel invited and seen. I am even accommodated when I ask for "no spice" lol. I am not a fan of spicy food, so I get my Chana masala with no spice because the mild can still be too much for me lol. It might take a little longer to be prepared but I'm patient and grateful. The breads aren't vegan BUT if you're really nice you may get them to make you a vegan garlic roti. I always get mango juice with my meal, highly suggested. I usually pop in on whim just like I did today. I didn't even think about it being Valentine's Day. I'd never seen it so busy, but I was happy to see everyone so happy enjoying their food. Wow! Just wow! If I could use one word to describe this place, it would be WOW! This was my first time ever trying out Indian food, and I was left in awe. Walking in, the place looked so beautiful, they are definitely going for a more upscale restaurant. The tables were so beautifully done. Our server was an older gentleman, super nice and sweet. We had the vegetable samosas, garlic naan, chicken tikka marsala, and lamb vindaloo. Every single food has so much flavors, but the two that stood out the most were garlic and ginger. The vegetable samosas came with two sauces, the green one which was spicy, and the dark brown one which was sweet. Both complemented the vegetable samosas so well!! The garlic naan was so amazing, a bit crispy, and I could just as well eat it by it's self. The chicken tikka marsala was a bit sweet, very creamy, it came with 6 decent sized pieces of chicken, the lamb vindaloo came with potatoes, it was spicy, and the lamb melted into your mouth as you chewed it!!! I loved all of the flavors, and it all complemented each other so well!! One thing I will say, I wish it came with more rice, even so, I would 100% recommend, and come back again!! read more

I've written so many 5-star reviews recently and it's truly because Yelp Elites have given me the best recommendations! Shout out to Elite Alexander B for hyping this spot up. I witnessed the restaurant open during the pandemic and then quickly acquire 5-star review after 5-star review. It's been seriously impressive to watch. I decided that it must be amazing. I ordered takeout through their Yelp page (GrubHub) as I've gotten the pleasure to speak to the owners a few times and I'm sure that talking to someone on the phone in your second language is difficult (I know I couldn't do it!). You can do takeout, delivery, dine inside, or dine outside. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and naan bread. It was ready early and the owners were a sweet couple who had my meal all packaged and ready to go. It was packaged well and stayed hot and perfectly intact on my drive home. Score! The chicken tikka masala was super good. It was warm, creamy, and had just enough spice to be incredible without being overwhelming. They also gave me three huge pieces of naan, which I thought was generous. Next time I can't wait to try the garlic naan too. The restaurant is cute, small, and well-maintained. They have a little outdoor eating area in front that's decorated with twinkle lights. They also have about five tables inside. Their health score is 100 out of 100 which is sooooo impressive. Wow. Delicious. Walked in with no reservation and found a great, cozy seat in the window. Quick service to take my order and bring my food to me. The lamb vindaloo was fantastic; it had the perfect heat and spice. I got a side of mixed pickles and was pleasantly surprised by the mix of picked limes and mangoes in a delicious sauce. Tried this place on a whim and it did nothing disappoint! We ordered a delivery order and the place had to my house pretty quick! I had the chicken biryani and it was fabulous! The consistency wasn't as runny as other places I had which made it perfect! The chicken was nice and tender and the veggies were sautéed to a perfection. I also ordered some samosas and they were huge!!! I should've took a picture (yes I was slacking) but I started eating and forgot. They were so tasty and the flavor was strong and delicious! My daughter ordered the chicken curry and thought it was good. She didn't say if she thought it was better than the other place but she liked it. Ive been reading about this place in my neighborhood Facebook group and was excited to try it. On a rare Friday night that my oldest daughter was home, she picked Indian for our weekly Friday night meal...so this was the perfect oppurtunity for me to try this place out. Our carry out order started with Chicken Pakoras which is chicken coated in chickpea flour and fried. It was so good. Nice hint of spice without it being too spicy. Each of us then ordered our own sperate entrees. The husband picked chicken chili from the Indo-Chinese menu. The chicken was tinder and the chili was there but not over-powering. My oldest loves Palak Paneer so we got an order of that. It was good, nothing outstanding. She also picked Paneer Karahi as her entrée, which she ate completely and had enough for second the next day...the paneer Karahi didn't have a chance...she loved it. First of all, I'm so thankful for another great Indian food option in the 'hood! Secondly, thank you to the owners for working so hard here. I placed an order for carry out via phone. I arrived and it took slightly longer than the time I was quoted, but it wasn't an issue as I had a nice (socially distanced, masked) conversation with another customer while waiting. When I received my order, the male staff member was very apologetic and offered an extra raita side for my wait.
