It seemed they were recovering from a busy spurt (Schellville going on), with a second wave as we sat, so things took a little time, but the staff were courteous, which to me, goes a long way in the business. From other reviews, they seem to want to right any issues. How many places do that? The ambiance: LOVED it! The lobby area was quite small, and I'm sure can get a bit clustered, but once you swing open the speakeasy doors, WOW. Every detail. It was a comfortable atmosphere. The food, delicious. We only had sandwiches/burgers. One person had the smash burger called Stool Pigeon delicious. The other had the Sloppy Local and they said it was good. Saw this place out the corner of my eye as we were driving to another restaurant and decided to take a chance. U -turned it and were there at 6:30 pm. Very friendly greeting and had to say the password in order to enter this prohibition style bar and restaurant. Cute! Upon entry it felt like a very intimate bar with some regular tables and high tops. Lots of seats at the full restaurant length bar. Wish I'd taken pics as the selection of alcohol was impressive. It's a family owned place and they definitely aim to please. Kraft cocktails were wonderful. Handmade chips and very interesting burger combinations. Went to this restaurant over the winter for appetizers and drinks ; enjoyed it. We were excited to have dinner.. Will NEVER BE BACK! I have never had to return Nachos, they were so salty they were uneditable! After we returned them sat with no water and dirty dishes throughout our meal. Went there on a Saturday night 6 PM with my wife. We were happy to get a seat at the bar right away. The bartender came over within 60 seconds. The drinks were great. Then we ordered a smash burger and also a pot roast sandwich. Along with Prohibition fries. Also very good food. All in all an excellent meal. The decor was pretty cool also simulating a prohibition era speakeasy. My only complaint is that the barstools were kind of top-heavy and they were not anchored to the floor. When Chaps closed, we were bummed as we live right down the street and it was one of our go to spots for good food without having to drive far. We hoped that whatever replaced it would have the same caliber grub, and 302 The Local did not disappoint! We have had both takeout and dine in experiences, both of which have been wonderful. Highly recommend the deviled eggs, buggsy, and Caesar. Best burger around if you ask me! There was a Mac n cheese side the first time that was phenomenal as well, but we have yet to see it on the menu since.. hoping it makes a return! Date nights for dessert and drinks have also been enjoyable, with a quaint ambiance and versatile drink menu. There is only 1 tv which displays various scenic photos, so definitely a more intimate bar setting. Espresso martini was lovely, and my husband enjoyed his bourbon cocktail as well. As far as dessert goes, lemon berry mascarpone & pb parlor! Would love to see the dessert menu add more variety, maybe offer a local specialty like Mommom's cheesecake on a seasonal rotation? The Local Speakeasy is Very Good +. We had a terrific lunch. My husband had their delicious Smoky Chili. He said it was some of the best he ever had. I indulged in their Mediterranean Burger. It was a departure from my regular type burger, but on the recommendation of our waiter, Ricky, I decided to throw the dice and I am glad I did. It was delicious. In addition, they make their own homemade potato chips, yummy. Their selection of adult drinks was amazing. I would guess there are tables for about 60+ and it's a great place for going with friends because you can talk & hear each other. The music, seems to be 1930s - 1940s swing music (at least when I was there) & it is played at a good sound level. Thank you Erica & Ricky for such a nice afternoon & great service. We had the pretzel and cheese (perfect), the crab dip (we all thought was fantastic, but didn't love the potato chips with it). The Shepherds pie was the best any of us have ever had. Fish and chips are good the slaw was wonderful. The chicken parm was so good, but we were surprised by the cilantro (I loved it, husband doesn't like cilantro). The jambalaya was very good. My wife and I recently got our first experience at "The Local" and we will definitely be back! The menu is creative, and full of options for everyone. We had the deviled eggs and burnt ends appetizers--outstanding. Love the extensive drink list--we had our favorite, Dewey Beer Company Swishy Pants, but we will look to try the cocktails soon. Our entrees were on point--chicken and waffles are a must try, we also had the spare rib that was on the special list, so good. Service was solid! Sahara was attentive as our server, and made great recommendations on the menu items. Excited to see the spot cater to us industry grunts and full time workers/residents. I wonder if some of the people that aren't showing grace in reviews know what a grind it is, and that an occasional growing pain is bound to happen in the early days of a new restaurant? Great new place with very tasty food! Nice drink selection and they do smoked Bourbon which you don't find often. It was our first time there and we had a burger and a chicken sandwich. It was the best burger and the best chicken sandwich that you will find in Rehoboth. Very nice combination of flavors with fresh ingredients that were well prepared to elevate them both to something special. There are lots of other selection that we will be back to try. Went to 302 this past weekend with a party of 4. First the good. The decor fit the name of the restaurant perfectly. The Bootleggers Old Fashioned was solid, smoking the top was a good touch. The Chicago Typewriter was solid. The white wine was okay. The vodka martini was an absolute glass of bilge water, probably the worst vodka martini I've ever had in 40 years. On the plus side, the olives were excellent! To her credit, the server got permission to take it off the bill. The Pinot Noir I selected was one I had in the past at other restaurants and I knew it wouldn't disappoint. As for the food, the Shepherd's Pie needs to be reconfigured as a chili, just take off the mashed potatoes and leave the cheese and it will fly out of the kitchen. Side note, fix the spelling on the ticket. I've had SP made by English and Irish people so I recommend the SP be reconfigured as a chili or get rid of it. The chicken parm reported out as very good and the chicken & waffles was equally a well received meal. The tuna in the Blackened Tuna Salad was reported out as a bit dry. Because this was my first time at 302, I had a professional restaurant bartender share the meal with us. Now for the not so good. The server we had did not have a good working rhythm and we did not see her for extended periods of time. Part of the problem was she had 5 tables with one that had 10 people at it who couldn't seem to figure out how to read the menu. The other major problem was the two managers who were dressed in costume spent the last 25 minutes we were at the restaurant sitting and chatting with a couple and did not help the few servers that were working the tables. The best person in the entire place was a dark haired young man who was a runner and he was constantly bailing out the few servers, all of who seemed to be overwhelmed. The kitchen seemed to be pushing out the food in a very timely manner, the problem was it would sit there for periods of time while the servers were hanging out at the bar. This is where the young runner was doing a great job. He kept food from stacking up and getting cold. Bottom line: Managers need to get off of their rear ends and support the staff. Servers need time management training as well as training in how to develop a rhythm with their tables. More servers need to be hired or this place will fold. When the tourist season hits starting the Memorial Day weekend, the visitors will not put up with poor service, overpriced drinks and managers who sit and BS with their friends. My husband and I were really looking forward to trying this new bar/ restaurant. Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed. The specialty cocktails were $18-$20 each, which is pretty steep, even for the beach. And they were not worth it. The food was pretty good, and I have no complaints about that. But, it was nothing special, either. We sat at the bar which we usually do because most of the time the service is better and faster. Not the case here. We weren't totally ignored, but it still wasn't the best service even when we were the only ones there. Also, my drink was listed as $18 on the menu but was $19 on my bill. To be fair, I did not bring this to their attention and feel quite certain that it would have been taken care of. I just think that it shouldn't have happened in the first place. The decor and ambiance was cool. We really wanted to love it, but unfortunately there was nothing great or special enough to make us want to return. read more
