The breaded fried chicken sandwiches with chips and fries were tasty. And the cheesy grits and shrimp was presented with simple artistry. This is a new establishment (4 weeks in operation) and is understandably working out the kinks of a new restaurant. We waited quite a long time for service due to the low ratio of service staff to customers. Our server was friendly and helpful and did the best she could with the number of customers she had! I am sure as they get the rhythm of the customer cycles down, service will continue to improve! My family loved the variety of adult libations including gluten free options and Hefeweizens (Pauliner is a favorite). While it was a pleasant experience to try something new, it didn't leave a lasting impression for a return visit. I would definitely suggest switching out to new menus or covering them in some sort of plastic encasement. Ours were pretty sticky and had several dried spill marks/food smudges on them. It was very busy and therefore nousy, but the food here (yes, I know it's reaching for the whiskey drinking crowd) is FABULOUS! Our app was the burnt ends and each bite had me swooning in ecstasy. I asked about the sauce, too bad it's not for sale by the bottle ( unless you have a Sysco account, amazingly). For dinner we had the dream wiener and the shepherds pie, two items we are very lucky about. They deserve a 12 stars out of the usual 5. First, we got a reservation and were told we had reserved a high top table. When we got there, the Hostess couldn't find our reservation. Then, she told us no one could reserve a high top table. Our guess is she never knew about the reservation and a walk-in party came in minutes before and took our table. Next, she realized her mistake and gave us a 7 top in an area for a 4 top. She even had to ask a couple to get up so she could move their booth; this place is not organized. We got sat at our cramped table and waited 10 minutes for service. That first visit got us 3 glasses of water, that's it. 10 minutes later, our drinks were ordered, 4 minutes after that we got 3 more glasses of water. Next, I was given another tables' drink order, only to give it back. I then realized the party that walked in after us had drinks and an appetizer and we didn't get drinks or order food yet. How did that happen?!?!?!?!? We finally got our drinks and ordered our food but that was the last drink I was able to order. Never was given a swing-by visit. I'm usually a 2 drink person at a meal so it always annoys me when I want to spend more $ and I can't get an opportunity to do so. The Hostess by the way never got up to help, could not be bothered. She wasn't a teenager, she was a 50-year-old who couldn't keep her reservations straight and apparently couldn't run food or get extra drink orders. She just sat there while we were not served. I want to give props to Mike because he worked the entire time we were there, he just had no help. Looked like he had 70% of the tables to himself, not sure why, but the Hostess could not have cared any less. Conclusion--great food, I would get take out everyday. It seemed they were recovering from a busy spurt (Schellville going on), with a second wave as we sat, so things took a little time, but the staff were courteous, which to me, goes a long way in the business. From other reviews, they seem to want to right any issues. How many places do that? The ambiance: LOVED it! The lobby area was quite small, and I'm sure can get a bit clustered, but once you swing open the speakeasy doors, WOW. Every detail. It was a comfortable atmosphere. The food, delicious. Very friendly greeting and had to say the password in order to enter this prohibition style bar and restaurant. Cute! Upon entry it felt like a very intimate bar with some regular tables and high tops. Lots of seats at the full restaurant length bar. Wish I'd taken pics as the selection of alcohol was impressive. There is only 1 tv which displays various scenic photos, so definitely a more intimate bar setting. Espresso martini was lovely, and my husband enjoyed his bourbon cocktail as well. The Local Speakeasy is Very Good +. We had a terrific lunch. My husband had their delicious Smoky Chili. He said it was some of the best he ever had. I indulged in their Mediterranean Burger. It was a departure from my regular type burger, but on the recommendation of our waiter, Ricky, I decided to throw the dice and I am glad I did. It was delicious. In addition, they make their own homemade potato chips, yummy. Their selection of adult drinks was amazing. I would guess there are tables for about 60+ and it's a great place for going with friends because you can talk & hear each other.
