We've got sandwiches from the local deli a few times. Each time has gotten worse. The last time, 3 days ago, we ordered a couple sandwiches. I got the chicken salad. As you can see in the photos, there was maybe 1 tiny spoon full of chicken salad. It was smashed in the middle Of the bread. Didn't even reach the edges. So my sandwich was basically bread with onions pickles and jalapeños. We won't be going back. So many more better deli's that actually make a good deli sandwich. read more

Absolutely delicious and fresh sandwich shop! Popped by to pick up to go lunch on a Saturday and it was busy but only had to wait under 10 mins. The bread melts in your mouth and all of the other ingredients are great too. Even the quarter sandwich/salad combo is plenty of food. You'd be super full after 1/2 a sub like I was. They're the best sandwich and salad place around. Their soups of the days with their homemade bread are delicious. We wouldn't recommend their meatball sub, but everything else is good. This sandwich shop is decent. The customer area is neat and clean. Ladies behind the counter are friendly. The sandwiches are overpriced. I ordered a whole size ham, Swiss, tomato and avocado on sourdough and it was a $14 sandwich. I just moved here from Long Island/NYC and my local deli for the same sandwich (using boars head products) is $8.99...that's almost a 30% difference and I know it costs more to operate in the NYC area that in Rathdrum. That's the problem with no competition/choices, you can charge what you want for an average product and people can either pay what is charged or go without. They can say they use the highest ingredients, but who is to know unless your blown away with the taste and can actually taste the difference. They use more bread to make the sandwich look bigger but don't use as much money ingredients (meats, dairy, vegetables)? They make their own bread... well so does Subway and Jimmy Johns.... I can go there, double up on the meat and pay much less. I've spent $120 on a porterhouse, so it's not about affording to pay the extra money but I wasn't blown away with the taste.... so the value wasn't there for me. I just don't see the value in their product. Don't see myself coming here again. * this was my review for their Rathdrum location... same applies here except prices are higher now, so it's even less of a value. read more

Good service from the young lady who took my order. However the lettuce in my salad was brown and the avocado was mush. Also, the pictures of their salads on line show a lot larger portions of ingredients than the one I received. I brought the brown lettuce to the attention of an employee and was told that she'd let the kitchen know... no apology and no offer to make it right. I love the Local Deli! I usually stop in for a Garwood Grinder, which I had today, but I also shared the Reuben with a friend!! With the right amount of bread, delicious pastrami, sauerkraut and 1000 Island this Reuben sandwich is delicious! Don't forget that it has oozy, gooey cheese and spicy mustard for that extra kick! The food is decent. Today, I came in and ordered- the employees made me feel like I was an inconvenience. Eye rolls and heavy sighs from both cashier and sandwich makers. I headed to the bar top on the other side of the restaurant to get a beer while I waited. A girl in a ratty shirt stood directly in front of me and never once addressed me. While she was on the phone, I didn't care because she's doing her job. However, I had my ID and cash on the bar in front of me and she had multiple opportunities to greet me between calls. I even prompted conversation at one point about the Togo menu and she just walked away. I'm pretty patient but that was just blatantly ignoring a customer. I'll get shittier quality and half the price at subway from now on. read more

The food is pretty good. I ordered the standard club off of the menu and it was tasty. I'd call this place a high end subway. They are friendly and they even have a veterans discount. One thing I noticed that kind of bugs me is that every time they make a sale there's an automated cash register noise that sounds. I'd like to see them remove this because it's kind of annoying. Aside from that I like their drink selection and the restaurant looks nice on the inside. Don't hesitate to come here if you need a basic sandwich fix. One more thing, they don't have a lot of Italian meats which are my favorite and in my opinion are a staple of any solid deli. So I wouldn't call it a deli it's more like a sandwich shop. read more

My husband and I have been customers here for over 2 years and frequent here. This week we ordered sandwiches twice. I'm 6 months pregnant and sandwiches are all I crave. I called ahead for pick up and both times our orders were messed up. The first time we said no tomato and it came with tomato but taking them off isnt a huge deal (gross if you hate tomato) but not worth having it remade. The second time they made the sandwich hot when we asked for it cold. When we spend $18 with tax for 2 half sandwiches, we expect them to be made correctly. Plus I always tip well. When I got home and realized the mistake I called to have it remade. The gal on the phone was cold and rude both times-when I made the original order and when I called to get the mistake sandwich fixed. When I got back to the deli the girls on the line were not kind. I brought back the hot sandwich and she told me I could keep it. I explained no one would eat it and that it hadn't even been opened. I understand food policies once it's been with a customer but she rudely chucked it into the trash in front of me. Experiences like this push people away and I will be reluctant to give this place my business which is sad because we truly love the sandwiches and have been loyal customers. No matter what it deserves 5 stars for 3 reasons. My husband always orders french dip everywhere we go. He took one bite here and said this is the best sandwich I have ever had thanks for takung me here....my mind was blown he never thanks me. 2 they have sprouts I love sprouts in sandwiches nobody does that anymore and the chicken salad croissant with sprouts omg it was delicious. I have been a long time customer of Local Deli for years and they are always friendly and their sandwiches are outstanding. This afternoon I ordered two sandwiches to be delivered and as always, they were on time. The only difference is ... the person who delivered them had an attitude from the start. I had my phone out with the "stamp app and as she handed me the bag, I handed her my phone. She said "I don't have the thing to do this with on me." I proceeded to tell her it was the second time that had happened (never had a problem before as the delivery person always had it) and she said ... as if she was mad at "me" .. "It's up to you to tell us when you order and before we deliver." No "I'm sorry". No smile. Nothing. She was ticked off at me for asking. I have never "not tipped" before but today?
