This is a great sandwich shop. They also have Gluten Free salads. The Whole is a full loaf of bread. HUGE.

Wow. The best sandwich in Idaho! The bread is freshly made from scratch daily. The sandwiches are huge so I recommend a half for most older people like myself. Beer on tap as well! Highly recommend this deli! May even return tomorrow before I travel back to California. read more

You had me at $2 pints. Four rotating taps - so not an abundant selection, but enough. They're cold! The food is good too. Sandwiches are not skimpy and the bread is awesome. Salads I've had were very fresh (great honey mustard dressing). Not a ton of atmosphere or stuff to look at... But it is very clean and the beer fills in any gaps. Support your local deli! read more

My family and I have been going to The Local Deli for years.. just wanted to swing by and leave them a positive review and recommend them to anyone that is trying to get down on a delicious home made style sandwich. Not only is the food good but customer service is awesome as well. Super friendly, kind, and efficient. They are really fast at making the food for how good of quality the sandwich really. The wait is bad. Since you have to order each item on a sandwich including garnish we've come home with incredibly dry sandwiches. Ive not seen any signage to that instruction but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist, just means its no where obvious. The young man at the order counter spoke so softly we had to ask he repeat everything he said. Took our money and left. Had to come back a second time to order drinks and chips. Three ladies coming in behind us staged themselves at the counter to complain of the wait. Six employees behind the counter refused to answer questions from them or any others waiting for follow up questions or adjustments. Employees wouldn't even make eye contact in spite of the close proximity. Since the three gals did stand there complaining of the wait they were served before us even though they arrived after us. Bread was good and home made. Seating inside is very limited and loud. Many other places in town are much easier to order and enjoy our stay. read more

My boyfriend and I are big fans of this place! Great place to go if you're looking for a good sandwich and brewski. I always get the Veggie with added bacon (ironic, I know) and he always gets the french dip. He lives in Spokane and I recently moved to Seattle from Hayden. The other day, he mentioned really missing "that one sandwich place we used to go to. They have the best French Dips I've ever had" - I replied "Oh The Local Deli??" "YES - I loved that place. Can we go next time you're home?" The portions are huge. I would eat a quarter of a full order and be full. Then save the rest for some snacks and dinner! Lasted all day. I even used to go grab for pick-up when I was at work and save the rest for lunch the next day. It does take a little bit for them to get your meal ready, so if you're in a hurry order ahead. Well ahead. When I was trying to order online at work I always had some issues, so I'd recommend calling ahead for pick-up. Again, well ahead. One time I ordered my sandwich, come to pick it up and there were no avocados! Apparently, they had run out. The sweet girl offered to run next door and get some, but by that time I was already past my lunch break because it was taking so long (even called ahead). Still paid full prince for everything. A bit annoying, but nothing horrendous. Good beer on tap for a good price, nice place to break bread (literally) with friends. Little tables out on the sidewalk during warmer weather make for a really great relaxing time - especially after coming home from the lake or beach. *Don't recommend if you're in a rush.* Check this place out! Quality, fresh ingredients, friendly staff/owners that get to know their regulars. I love getting the turkey, bacon, provolone with avocado on freshly baked sourdough bread or for breakfast get a bacon, egg with cheese on bagel with some Avion coffee and you won't be disappointed. read more

Fresh bread made daily. A wide selection of fresh healthy food. Temptation cupcakes served daily that are made locally. I am visiting the area and several people have brought them up as something our family should try while we are here. Thumbs up! Downside: Orders take a little while and it is noisy. read more

We Love the Local Deli! As you walk in you get hit with the most amazing aroma of fresh baked bread, which is always soft and fluffy, not hard and chewy like other places. Placed an online order with pick up. Then had to wait 20 minutes for my order. Then the order was all messed up. Missing the cheese on my salad and messed up with the instructions for extra dressing. Got the perfect bagel! It was absolutely delicious! I would certainly ask for no sprouts next time, but I have to say it was one of the best bagel sandwiches I've had. I ordered 4 sandwiches online. The total was $24.75. When I went there to pick them up I noticed a special on the board which stated 4 sandwiches chips and a drink for $24.00. I asked the clerk about the special and she told me that was for walk up service not online orders. Tell me what the difference is? She won't give our order any consideration. I actually paid more to order online, even though I walked in and paid, the same as if I would have ordered at the counter. The clerk could have just given us the chips a a drink, like the special. Walked into the establishment a couple of minutes before closing (6pm) and went to the counter to place an order. The girl behind the counter said, "I'm sorry, we are closed". I told the girl that the door was open and the clock on the wall said 05:58. The girl said, "We close at 06:00". I said, "It's not 6:00 yet." The girl responded, "Yeah, well the clock isn't right; they set it 5 minutes slow." I replied, "I call BS. That doesn't make any sense at all." All the girl said was, "Sorry, but we are closed now" . I told the girl I had never eaten here and now I would definitely never return. And this girl responded in the most insincere, patronizing manner, "Thank you; you have a wonderful night". You could tell she just said this in the fakest manner possible just to piss me off. She succeeded. I immediately left and went to Panera. I ordered and received my food, got into my truck and looked at my phone and it was 6:04. The line about "they" set the clock back 5 minutes was definitely a lie. I have worked in retail/customer service for over 30 years, and this is one of the poorest examples of service I have come across in some time. I will share this story with my 600 employees as an example of how businesses permanently lose customers in an increasingly competitive environment. read more

Caruso's is so convenient as it is less than a mile from my work and on a lunch break, it's nice to have a great tasting sandwich just minutes away. The food is always fresh and size is never an issue. I would have really liked to give this a five-star but the customer service has changed so much in recent times. It used to be that you could go in and have a smiling face greeting you and ready to take your order no matter if they recognized you or not. In recent times, however, if you are not a face/name they know the personal touch just is not there. Personally, I find it a little more offensive because I am there one a week almost every week and the touch is just gone. I'm done going to this place. Is their food delicious? Yes! But the service is dreadful and I'm even questioning health standards at this point. I ordered online for a 2pm order, I go to the pickup register and can see my order sitting on the counter 5 minutes before I'm even supposed to be there. I wait no less than 8 minutes and make eye contact with 2 employees and nobody bothers to help me or even acknowledge I'm there. This is the SECOND time I have went in to pick up my order and left empty handed. People use the online ordering for time and convenience. I usually pop in very quickly in between meetings and dont have time to wait more than a few minutes. Also, why are items with meat, mayo and cheese just being placed on the counter tops instead of refrigerated if they are made early? I honestly didn't even want it after seeing it sit there that long and who knows how long it was sitting there before I came in. read more

I've never actually dined at The local deli but I run a lakeside restaurant on Hayden and one day I ran out of credit card paper. I called them and asked if I could borrow some. We picked up a half sandwich each and it was made fresh with fresh meats, cheeses, and vegetables. Even the half was large enough to have half of the half for lunch today. Not sure what all the hype is about. Seems like a local subway shop to me. We ordered the grinder and sando wasnt too bad, no wow factor tho. Needs more sauce, will order extra sauce next time. Ordered a side of potato salad and not sure what they gave me. Had absolutly no flavor to it at all. Seemed like the potatoes where cooked to long and released water into sauce. Place was clean and staff was friendly. Fromt counter guy could use some more training on what products they carry. We ordered bannana wax peppers and received peppercinies. Will try again to see if maybe we cought them on an off day. read more
