NEVER GO HERE. I am a 21 year old from Louisiana with a horizontal ID, nothing sketchy about my identification or age. I was nothing but sweet and respectful, yet the sales clerk named GEORGE questioned me, then proceeded to BREAK MY ID IN HALF because he thought it was fake. I even showed him two other forms of identification and offered to call the police to scan it. The weird part is... he sold me the alcohol even though he thought it was fake? A privileged asshole to say the least. I had to board a plane four days later and was not sure i could get home, and when i told that to asshole George he said (direct quote) "you can take your white American citizen a** to the airport and get on the plane with two bottles of medicine and a credit card". This man works at one of the nicest ski resorts in Colorado yet I'm the crazy white privileged American? Get a life George. George then made a rule that he will not be serving to anyone from Louisiana under 24. Simply just not the law? This man should be arrested for damage of property, canceled for aggressive words and actions, and the store should be shut down all together for the people of Colorado. Walk or drive the extra 6 blocks to CITY MARKET!!! We walked into a tired empty store. Literally!! The clerk freaked out that we brought our (2) young children in??? We were in the grocery store area, not the liquor store. We had several items in our arms when he got aggressive . My mask slid a touch below my nose. There is a right way to address customers and a wrong way.... without hesitation, we set all our items down and walked out. City market was half the price and the staff was helpful and friendly. This is a nice little market in downtown Breck. They have some nice items. The service has been good each time we have been in.

I wish I could put no stars but unfortunately that is not possible. We went in with a big group ready to spend a good amount (which everything is very over priced) and two people in our group including me were singled out. We went to the Local Market looking for fun liquor and foods. Granted it is Covid-19 and people are a little more on edge, the cashier on the grocery side was extremely rude to my kids, husband and I. She didn't want us all in the back which we understand why (in case more customers came in and needed to be in that area). The way she went about it was offensive (for the record, I am a direct person but there is a difference between direct and rude). This place is sweet. They have tons of food from local Colorado areas including meats from Salida which are awesome. You can find good hot coffee and ice cold beers or liquor from the shed in the back. They even sell the Sierra Nevada line of mustards which are all awesome. You can find Kambucha and good iced teas if you need an afternoon pickup. I always stop by here to stock up on those hard to find items that I need for backpacking trips such as locally made beef jerkey and the 'good' ramen noodle. My guess is most of the products in this store are going to NOT contain high fructose. Lot's of healthy options - but also lots of easy to make items for those who don't want to cook or without ovens. I noticed in the frozen section they have the EVOL burritos and lots of stuff that City Market doesn't carry. Anyway, this place is worth checking out if you are in Town and need some quick good food or drink. Oh and the word on the street is they have started a $6 sandwich/snack/drink lunch special - I have not tried this yet. read more

We spent a week on brek, unfortunately this is one of the few shops for essentials. We ended up going a few times, each time there was a different employee and each time they were rude. Very unwelcoming service. Not helpful at all, and overall grumpy! Its especially disappointing when you travel to a tourist driven destination and the locals are rude to the tourists. It ruins the experience and then it ruins the reputation. You would think business owners and operators would make it a point to employ friendly and helpful people. Oh well - if they're that unhappy living in a place so beautiful - then that sucks for them - don't take it out on me. 0 stars here. read more

Decent for essentials if you're in the area, but not so great its worth going out of your way to. Prices aren't great. There's a much bigger market a block off main and a few blocks down. They have pasta and dried goods, a basic selection of bevs, and the like. The liquor store is separate and in the back. Friendly clerk. read more

Just experience the most hostile employee at the liquor store this morning. He was a little older, shorter guy with gray hair. On google it says the liquor store opens at 8am, so I walked in and the sliding doors opened. I see an attendant a couple minutes later and he started going off on myself and another customer because he said they opened at 9. I told him I would wait till 9 and he told me and the other customer to leave. Him and the other customer yelled at each other back and forth. And I told him that I will never be giving this liquor store my service again and he replied with "I don't give a f*** get out of my store. Boycott, don't give them your business until they can hire employees that are respectful. read more

While walking around Breckenridge I found this quaint little grocery store. The staff was very nice and very knowledgeable about the area. They had many local products as well as a liquor store in the back of the shop. On my future trips to Breckenridge I will skip out on the big grocery store and stick to The local Market for all of my needs! read more

I would give it a 0 if I could. The liquor clerk had all the personality of a wet fish. I bought 2 bottles of wine and a bottle of bourbon. Usually when you purchase multiple bottles they ask if you want a bag or box. The clerk offered neither, and when I asked for a bag he said, "You can pay 10 cents for a bag, or walk out for free ". If I hadn't already paid over a hundred bucks for the booze I would have just walked out. Horrible customer service, never returning. read more

Great natural and organic grocery food store featuring a ton of local items too! Everything was regular priced, which is surprising cause its on Main St in downtown Breck. I work in Breckenridge and needed to buy supplies for people visiting from out of state. They wanted local food and alcohol so I decided to try out the Local Market. Their selection of locally made treats is unbeatable! They have all kinds of chocolates, salsa, jerky, and jelly all made in Colorado! Mitch in the liquor store was very helpful and patient in helping me find the perfect locally made beer and wine and he was incredibly knowledgable, I had no idea what I was looking for and he was able to narrow it down to the perfect selection with very little information! I was treated so incredibly rudely by the employee running the liquor store side. I was in the store at approximately 515pm on Monday Jan 22. First, I was ridiculed because I asked to have a sack for our liquor purchases because we were going to be walking around shopping & didn't have a purse with me (in the snowfall) as a place to put the multiple bottles. I was told "we try to protect the environment" like I was a bad person. I guess we were expected to carry multiple bottles in our hands around the streets of Breckenridge& to dinner with us. That alone made me feel awful to be in this store & not like an appreciated customer. Then, apparently, I made a "huge" transgression against humanity by accidentally trying to take a packet of m'n'm's over to the liquor side. I was accused of being "stupid" because I didn't see the sign that said this. I explained I wasn't a local& was laughed @ in a cynical manner like I was unwelcome because I was a tourist. I have never been treated so rudely! I will never come back (& come up here from Denver quite often). Not sure what's happened to Breck. It used to be friendly. It's depressing to be treated like this by some guy 10 yrs younger than me & making fun of tourists & that also apparently does not care about having a job. If I was the owner, I would not allow my employees to treat the lifeblood of Breckenridge, the tourists, so completely rudely. read more
