I've been meaning to get in here for some time and try the food. I got the chance at last on a Sunday. first its a small place, so seating is a little hard if you come during a busy time. we were lucky we got a table the moment we arrived in the door. the food on the menu looks great, its all local and healthy options. Since this was our first visit I was not sure what to order, but after a bit we did pick out something that look good on the menu. My wife ordered the frittata with sweet potatoes smashed, I got the tamales and eggs. The food presentation looked great, very nicely done, both my dish and the wife's, The only issue I had was the tamales and sausage was a little spicy for me. but that is my fault, if you follow my reviews you know I'm a light weight on the spicy food dept. Even thought it was a bit spicy for me, the tamales were fresh and cooked great and tasted wonderful, same for the sausage! The avocado's were fresh, the pico de galo was great. Loved the egg. My wife liked the frittata and loved the sweet potatoes smashed, she loved the smashed more than the frittata. I tried the frittata and I liked it very much, its what I'm planning to get next time. the only real problem I have is the plates, I like the idea of using recycled plastic and bamboo, but the plates are so smooth and the tables are like that too, every time you try to cut something it becomes an art of learning how not to have the plate slide off on to the floor or you lap. if anything should change its that. I'd recommend either a different plate or some sort of place-mat that won't let the plate slide. in the mean time watch that dish! So I look forward to going back, I recommend trying this place out. the staff is friendly and they do take care of you. So drop by try the Frittata! read more

My husband & I dined here for breakfast b/c of all the favorable reviews and while the service was good, the food was definitely below average in terms of flavor profile and content. We ordered the chorizo scramble and it was meh. We also ordered their Acai bowl and first of all, it's the size of a bowl of ice cream and of all the Acai bowls we've had at many restaurants, it was way below par. Their homemade granola was oats w/ honey...our local restaurant in San Diego serves Acai bowls with homemade granola that has nuts & berries and is absolutely delicious. of course our restaurant also serves it w/ coconut shreds, bee pollen, etc. Anyway, we were extremely disappointed with this restaurant considering all the great reviews...but then again, we're from CA where we have many options (great vegan, gluten free food). One other thing is they serve everything in plastic plates and bowls (we felt like we were eating our scramble out of dog bowls)...of course the coffee was served in nice mugs and we didn't have any complaints about the coffee. My elderly mother was standing at the hostess stand and the waiter came by and said "excuse me gotta get through" which then we proceeded to exit the restaurant and when my mother did not move fast enough he angrily said " I still gotta get through!" I would give this place zero stars if i could. I revived my yelp account just to leave this review. Went in on Sunday July 22nd 2018. We waited outside for 20 mins to be seated, which is fine because I'm a patient person. We were finally seated and the server came over to let us know the kitchen is running slow and it will be a 40 min wait. Still, I'm a patient person who wants pancakes so I'm willing to wait. A little later she comes back and takes our drink order. We wait another 5 mins or so. The server comes back and says we need to leave because they are under staffed and are going to close. The owner or manager never came out to apologize which is what i would expect. They sent out this young server to do their dirty work. It was 1030 am and i had waited over 30 min to get the boot AFTER i was seated. This is the second time i had gone to this establishment and the other reviews are correct. I feel like i am brothering them with my presence. The only reason i had come back a second time is because my friend is visiting from out of town and she likes the Vegan options. This is probably my favorite restaurant in Prescott! The food is fresh and made with a unique flair and the service is excellent! My favorite dish is a toss up of the chorizo breakfast burrito (which does not have that nasty dripping grease that is common with other establishments) and the grilled cheese and pimento sandwich. The staff is always warm and welcoming with that perfect balance of checking on you. At some places you're either forgotten or you are bombarded with the constant "How is everything?" These guys definitely know their clientele! They also know their dishes and offer excellent suggestions and they are honest. I went once with young children who wanted to be adventurous and the owner let them know that what they wanted was usually not a preferred taste with kids. I loved her honesty! She could've not said anything and put the expense on the bill while I would've had to deal with unhappy kids. The only downside is that the parking stinks because they are almost always full! To avoid that, you can always call in the order and take it to go. It's totally worth it! read more

I have been here several times and have never had bad service or bad food. It is one of my favorite places to eat. There is often a line but it is worth the wait. I have the gluten free cakes almost every time, they are the best gf pancakes I have ever had. I normally don't like maple syrup at restaurants but theirs is amazing! I had been waiting not-so-patiently for my trip to Arizona. One of the top three items on my list was to have breakfast/lunch at The Local. From the first step inside I could tell that the wait would be so worth it. I have been studying the menu and knew that my first choice would be the Southwest Sunrise. I was not disappointed. It was fantastic from the combination of avocado, cheese and ginger aoli on the homemade English muffin, my taste buds were treated like royalty. Others with me enjoyed the pineapple upside down cake pancakes that were truly a treat we all sampled. One younger guest enjoyed the grilled cheese "sammich"....... An unbelievable pimento cheese blend with Harvarti on homemade multi-grain. The coffee is delicious, too! Our experience was so good, we returned again and my choice was the Breakfast Pot Pie. My favorite over all but still want to try more. This pot pie was like no other I have tried. The crust was so flakey and the beef sausage was delicious. On top of the flakey crust was an egg prepared perfectly. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. The staff is friendly and do not hover but know when you need more coffee or water. The atmosphere was clean, bright and so welcoming. Guests who were enjoying their meals when I was there was a combination of locals who have come to know a good thing and also other first timers. We discovered this unassuming little spot while visiting Prescott and loved it. The decor leaves something to be desired, but the food and service were superb. Cheryl, one of the owners, greeted us like we were old friends. Her recommendations were spot on. Her humor and warmth made us feel like regulars. My wife & I just moved back to the area from Flagstaff where fresh & healthy restaurants are on every corner. I was so happy to find to local, it felt like I was back in Flagstaff. The atmosphere was laid back but I still felt like I dining in a modern bistro. The servers were very attentive. We loved the cinnamon rolls they offer as a snack before your food comes out. My wife ordered the Huevos Ranchero's and I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito with green chili gravy. All I have to say is wow!! My wife's dish was probably the best out of the two, the salsa that it was topped with was absolutely divine!! The breakfast burrito was very good (probably the best I've had in the area) it came with a fresh pico and avocado slices. The gravy was to die for!! None of the food was greesy or made me feel like I over indulged and I ate my burrito plus some of my wife's :)... When we first walked in the door we were ignored by at least 3 of the servers and were unclear whether we were to find a seat or wait to be seated. Completely disappointed. This used to be my favorite restaurant in Prescott, mostly because it's one of the only places I can find both gluten free and vegan options. Upon ordering I was told by both the waitress and the manager to "google" the ingredients to their burger patty. The menu depicts impossible/beyond meat but doesn't tell you which they have on hand. After finally finding the ingredients online (just written out, no evidence of an actual ingredient list) I order it and specify A gluten free bun. The waitress even came back and verified that I was vegan. Upon receiving, I get a few bites in and realize the bread is way too good to be gluten free. When she came back to check it was certain I was given the wrong bun. Not only did the cook staff miss it, but also my waitress. I will now have a reaction and feel awful for days because of this mistake. If you have a restaurant in the niche market of food allergies, the order should be triple checked before bringing it to the table. Unlikely to return. read more

My review is for Prescottonians who may see this "organic" and think "hippy dippy." The menu is a great selection of "normal" food that's made fresh with great ingredients and with care. It's not at all "hippy dippy." Another thing I appreciated was that the portions were plenty but not obscene (I hate the obscene portions at many Arizona restaurants). So we thoroughly enjoyed everything we had, the decor and ambience is nice, fun and modern and the menu and food was really great. My chorizo breakfast burrito was delicious and my wife had a deconstructed tamale with eggs and that was also fantastic. We sampled their muffin and scones and they were great too. We stopped in for breakfast and had a great meal. Plum pudding muffins had just come out of the oven, went well with the tasty coffee and latte we ordered. The staff are really friendly and the restaurant has a cheery simple and modern feel with local art on the walls. We ordered the biscuits with green chile gravy and sweet potato pancakes, both with a scrambled egg added. The portions were more than generous and the food was terrific! The green chile gravy had a kick to it that my husband enjoyed. My pancakes were perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful. I had to take one to go. We also saw a serving of the lemon torte go by and it looked really good, but we were much too full to go there this time. I had the frittata which was excellent and my husband had the biscuits and green chili sausage gravy. I had a taste of his and it was really tasty. The smashers are to die for! My boyfriend and I decided to take a day trip to Prescott and the Local was the first place we stopped. We were absolutely delighted by the cute decor, friendly staff and delicious food! I loved that the table tents explained that what their dishes were made of, why the music was at the volume it was, where they get their ingredients, etc. It was fun to read while we waited for our food. My friend and I ventured to Prescott to have our first tasting of food at The Local. It was utterly amazing. My frittata was so incredible with super fresh ingredients and a unique and mouth watering taste. I had the yukon potatoes and of course had to add my favorite side . . bacon! However the most impressive was the incredible chocolate cake with frosting . . the frosting was mesmerizing and unbelievably smooth and creamy. I've never had anything like it. The food is all organic, clean and locally grown. Plus the environment was clean, cheery, bright colored and totally delightful. read more
