I've been coming here for years and the one constant I've found is the stellar food. The island music and Disney movies in the background is always nice as well. Normally, the service is pretty good, but today they overcharged my two entrees by $4 and undercharged my musubi by 15¢. When I brought it to the staff's attention, they were quite indifferent about it. No apologies whatsoever. As far as I've known, they've always done the handwritten receipts, which I personally do not like. Accidents can happen, and without a computer with set prices, and automatic calculations, errors can become more commonplace. I see the front has an updated payment system, I do not understand why they have yet to update their receipt system. Who knows how many accidents with the pricing has occured, and based upon their reaction to the mistake, I feel like it's happened many times before. I Love this place. I'll continue to eat here. If it means carrying a calculator to get an accurate bill, it's a trade-off I'm willing to abide by. read more

As much as I love the location of this place near my house, I wish they'd make some improvements to the dressing that goes with the Chinese Chicken Salad. My salad I ordered to go, came with greasy wontons, lettuce, chicken and very bland tasting dressing. I dint know why I always order and think I'm getting Rascal's Teriyaki Grill! First of all this restaurant delivers the flavor and the great taste in their Island Style Fried Chicken plate. I've eaten here and the Torrance restaurant for countless years. Ok, where do I begin. Approximately 2 months ago, we went to the Loft for dinner. It took over an hour for us to get our orders. I get it, it appears they were short staff. I got to say, we were a bit irritated by the wait. However, I tried to understand that it's not the staff's fault. It would have been nice for them to tell us this prior to us being sat down. We might have gone somewhere else instead. The food we ordered was good. Fast forward, two weeks after the first time, we went back to the Loft again. Low and behold, this time it took us over an hour to get our food again. This time, were highly upset and asked out waiter what was the reason. We were told, they were backed up due to a catering order they were working on. Not cool and not happy. Again, we try to understand running a business is challenging in today's time. But, come on please get your act straight. You will loose customer this way. Now, present time, which four days ago, we thought OK, let's try the Loft again. We even chuckled talking about it. This time the wait was not bad getting our food. However, we were disappointed that they ran out of char siu chicken. But what made us upset was the quality and serving size of the meal. The size of the fried chicken seem kinda small. Moreover it didn't appeared to be appetizing. I think they should have advertised it as nugget size. The other entree picked was Kalbi ribs - and this wasn't better. It seems dark and old, as if they served something that was cooked the day before. We were disappointed to say the least. The level of service and quality of food has deteriorated I believed. I don't know if there's new management, or lack of. Maybe, they've had an exodus of employees recently. Unfortunately, we will not be going back there for a while. Loft needs to clean up their act. read more

Delicious authentic food, spot on all the time. Staff are pleasant and accommodating. Inside restaurant is simple and islandy without being kitschy. To go can take some time but if you call ahead, the wait isn't as bad. Favorite dishes are the kalbi plate, lau lau lomi lomi salmon, and the Chinese Chicken salad. The only thing I don't like is the macaroni salad because they put potatoes in it. But some people like that. I'd rather keep it just macaroni, carrots, and add pineapple, yum! Kalbi was kinda burned and dry but the Kahlia pork was smoked and juicy and the island fried chicken was delicious. The coleslaw was crispy and fresh. Macaroni salad was nice and cold and flavorful each bite. Also ordered a spam masubi and that came with green onions and sauce on the plate. Overall I was satisfied with my food and the service. The ambiance leaves something to be desired. They need to do a complete renovation because it feels like an old hospital waiting room with yellow walls and dusty old Hawaiian decor. The atmosphere is horrible and the place looks run down old and shabby. ANOTHER IMPORTANT DETAIL: the menu is falsely advertising the wrong price. On the menu it said my plate was only 10.50, but when I went to go pay for said plate, it came out to be 14.75 instead. So guys, do better on pricing the menu correctly. A solid Hawaiian place! I usually order trays of food or catering from here because I think you get a pretty food bang for your buck. You just have to know what to order! I've tried almost everything here on their menu. My favorite meats here are the Kalbi (short ribs), Korean BBQ Beef, and Island Fried Chicken. The ribs and beef are perfectly marinated and are also nice and fatty! Dipping those meats into a spicy dipping sauce (or Sambal Oelek) is perfection! The Island Fried Chicken is perfectly crunchy and flavorful. Now for their other stuff. Their chicken katsu is not my favorite (I love L&Ls) but it's still good. I think that their katsu is usually dry and not super flavorful, but their katsu sauce is good and helps make up for it. I also think the katsu doesn't have the best ratio as I believe their is too much breading compared to the meat. The salad here is good but usually overdressed and therefore too sweet. They also commonly forget to give us sauces with our take-out orders. Overall, I think for the price you pay, this place is pretty good! The portions are quite large and if you're craving Hawaiian food, this place will do. Definitely order the Kalbi, Korean BBQ Beef, and Island Fried Chicken! I ordered my favorite Korean barbecue beef and chicken combo plate today. It was delicious and grilled perfectly with a nice light char on the chicken. Pour their delicious teriyaki sauce over your food and you are in Hawaiian food heaven. I would take this platter over any entree that any restaurant would offer. The only thing that equals to this platter is the Top sirloin steak with potato at the Wood Ranch restaurant. I hope the Loft never goes out of business and keeps up making great food. read more
