    STORMY LAUREL
    Delaney S.

Must eat at restaurant in Laurel! I was visiting Laurel for a girls trip and just checked in to the Airbnb and we were starving. Yelp led us to The Loft and thank goodness we got there about 10 minutes before open because there was already a line down the sidewalk. We got in line and were seated right when the doors opened for dinner. I enjoyed the interior of the restaurant. It had a rustic vibe and a man playing the guitar and singing. The music was great but wished he was a little bit louder. The service was good and were in and out within about 1 hour and 15 minutes for dinner. I started with a cocktail - Stormy Laurel. I'm a suckered for any drink with elderflower and it was light and refreshing. The food was delicious! The house side salad was huge and the croutons were so good. I like that they provided plenty of salad dressing. I ordered the fried shrimp dinner with the loaded potato casserole. The shrimp were massive, there were so many, and they were seasoned well and breaded just the right amount. The potato casserole was yummy and had a slight kick which I appreciated. We also ordered the bread pudding for dessert. I liked the white chocolate chips throughout. Come here for a solid meal! I loved the food and atmosphere. I thought there were plenty of options on the menu and everything was priced well.

With our meal finished, we posed for a photo.

Outstanding food and service at this place! This was our second visit and it was as good as the first! We will definitely go back again.

We had dinner at The Loft during our weekend in Laurel. We had a reservation and were seated as soon as we arrived. It was busy since it was a Saturday night but the noise level wasn't overly loud. They also had a singer playing the guitar. Our server was friendly and attentive. My goal was to try a few different martinis and rate them! for appetizers we had Steak bites that melted in our mouths, Shrimp pizza which was delicious, Cheese wedges and potatoe casserole which were both good as well. My friend had the pork chop for an entree and raved about it. I had the Loft Burger which was cooked just right and so juicy. My husband and friend had Whiskey Sours which were good and strong. The Martinis I had were the Downtown Tini, Pink Starburst Martini and the Mary J Martini. My friend had a Cosmopolitan which she enjoyed. My favorite was the Downton with my least favorite the Pink Starburst because it was too sweet. We all had a great time and loved all the food. The appetizers took a while to come out but not terribly long. And I just don't understand how a restaurant that size only has a single restroom. But I definitely recommend!

Great food and atmosphere. Staff was excellent and so were the drinks. Can't wait to go back to Laurel to work so I can eat here again.

We came upon this gem and decided to give it a try. We sat at the bar and Kate was great! Her Old Fashioned drinks were so good that we decided to stay for dinner. She made several suggestions for food choices and we ended up with the Red Fish and steak appetizer. The food details are with the pics. We were so pleased that we are already planning a return trip!

Since most of the town roles up the sidewalks at 5pm. This place is one of two or three that are open at night. Great location in a funky building. The food here is top-notch. Boss Lady and I eat at a couple of the local eateries, and this one was one of the better ones. She ordered the steak salad, (delicious) and I had the starter shrimp pizza. Both were tasty, although the pizza crust could have been crunchier. The bar drinks are good, and not too expensive. The live musician was good but couldn't hear him that well. Eat here if y'all want good food!

Redfish with Potato hash. The roll was from scratch and tasted like my granny used to bake.

We had 3 days to tour Laurel. We decided to try The Loft -as many locals recommended it. The wait could be long - as in 30 minutes- so we arrive at 5pm. We were delighted in the wait staff as well as the food quality. The price point was on target for what the local town we live in charges. We recommend this place!

The chef needed to par boil until tender before cooling down... all this before hitting the deep fryer. Flavor was good, but tough and chewy. My 14 OZ Delmonico Ribeye was cooked a perfect medium-rare, had great flavor, and overall was a quality cut of beef. The garlic mashed potatoes were served hot and fluffy, but they were not a stand-out, just your average mashed potatoes. They were real, though... when others uses instant. Props for that. My seared green beans were hot and fresh and tasty and very good. Now the bad..... 1. I called hours in advance and asked about making a reservation and was advised that they don't take reservations. Wrong answer.... yes they do. We waited for about 20 minutes but were in no rush, but we observed a few other couples announcing they had a reservation and they were seated ahead of us..... so whomever answered the phone and advised that Edgers does not take reservations,,,,,, yes you do! 2. Service was fast but not good. The server did not come around to offer re-fills on our very empty beverage glasses.... and she brought the dinner rolls well after dinner had started as she admitted she forgot. She did not suggestive sell a desert and instead just brought us our check. 3. There is no music and the dining room is loud because you sit on top of a concrete floor with chipped paint everywhere.... cheap and nasty looking, not worthy of a steakhouse. The cheap turquoise curtains dragging on the floor covering the metal blinds are tacky at best. The hostess station is pure 1971, needs ripped out. 4. The décor was horrendous. They advise "casual country club attire", which is very funny as many, ahem, "gentleman" in the dining room had on various baseball caps... one guy was in flip-flops... and this place is not even in the same county as anything close to a country club vibe.... 5. While they do have cloth table cloths and napkins, sitting in this very poorly decorated and run down less than cafeteria atmosphere reminded me of sitting in the middle of a 1970s funeral parlor show room. I was looking for a casket with a dead guy laying in it.... 6. Presentation needs a complete revamp! No water served, no garnish of any kind, really nothing "nice" about this place except for the funeral flowers sitting in the middle of the converted garage, I mean dining room.... Great food. Quality food. Service provided by staff who would not know how to do a wine service, a staff who are very nice people, but a staff who have never eaten in a fancy restaurant in a first-class city like New York, Boston or San Francisco... foodie environments. Is this a prom date destination? NO Is this a place to impress your date? NO Is this a place to have a business dinner with a new or perspective client? H&%$ NO Is this a place that is no frills with decent food? Sure.... go for the steaks but nothing else....

Finding Mimmo's in Laurel right now is like searching for lost treasure in a construction zone --…read morethe kind where the street looks like Act I of a tragic opera: "Ode to the Detour." You'll battle cones, dodge machinery, and question your life choices. But when you finally burst through the doors? Bravo! The interior hits you like a grand crescendo -- exposed brick walls, high ceilings, the kind of lighting that makes you feel instantly more attractive. It's pure Tuscan theater. The service deserves a standing ovation -- all charm, smiles, and perfectly timed entrances. But once the food arrived, the orchestra started to lose the rhythm. The garlic rolls, priced at a dramatic $14, made their entrance dripping in butter -- so much butter, in fact, that garlic seems to have drowned somewhere backstage. The rolls glistened like they were auditioning for La Buttera. Soft, rich, and tasty, yes... but garlic? MIA. It's like sending Pavarotti on stage and getting a kazoo solo instead. Then came the pizza, whose crust sang a lovely opening note -- smoky, beautifully charred edges -- but the center was still a little... doughy. A tragic reminder that even great tenors sometimes miss the high note. The lasagna should've been the grand finale -- the full-throated aria of the meal -- but instead, it came out more like the understudy: pleasant, but lacking passion. The meat was flavorful, but the rest felt uncomposed. A little more Parmesan bravado could've saved the day. If Yelp had half stars, I'd give Mimmo's a 3.5, because the atmosphere and service are pure opera -- dramatic, romantic, and memorable. But the food? Still rehearsing. Come for the ambiance, stay for the butter, and hope that next time, the kitchen hits all the right notes. Final act verdict: Mimmo's has the stage presence of a headliner -- now it just needs a little more flavor in its aria.

It has extremely high ceilings and so spacious. There is even a fountain right in the center. We sat in a very large booth. I had a crisp glass of sauvignon blanc to start. Let's get to the food. We split a large caesar salad and a supreme pizza. The salad was well dressed with scrumptious croutons. I wish we had more. The pizza had plenty of toppings and they were able to accommodate by only putting olives on half of the pizza. The crust had a good crispiness to it and tasted fresh. We ate the whole thing. To finish off the meal, we got 2 cannolis. While the cream was good, the shell could have had more crunch. Almost as if the cannoli was piped ahead of time and not right before serving. Overall we had a great meal here.
