The Lumpia Company failed to deliver the catering order for my kid's 1st birthday, despite the invoice being paid in full ahead of the event. I worked with Alex to coordinate the menu and delivery, and communication was great throughout the planning process. I paid the invoice in full (over $660), but after payment, all communication stopped. On the day of the party, the food never arrived. Multiple calls, texts, and voicemails went unanswered, leaving us scrambling to order pizza for roughly 50 guests at the last minute. A couple of days later, I was finally able to get in touch with Alex. He apologized, issued a full refund, and also offered a gift card to make up for the situation. I appreciated the apology and the refund. Unfortunately, despite following up a couple of times, I never received the gift card and communication stopped again. I want to love it so much, but I think the challenges of running a business in Oakland is starting to strain the service and the quality of the lumpia company. Living in the area, we are in a food desert, and they are one of two places that I would go to for lunch or dinner options when I don't want to cook. It seems that The Lumpia Company and a coffee spot across the way are the only current inhabitants of the area, but it's such a huge place, hoping more foot traffic and business life come along soon. The Brooklyn Basin def has the makings of something great. The Lumpia company space is so big! They sell frozen items, NA drinks and beer/wine, merch, have arcade games, TVs, and a stage/event space also outside. You order and pay at the register, then wait for your number to be called. I ordered the Chicken Shanghai lumpia and the Lumpia Salad. Honestly, worth the drive! The Lumpia Salad is unlike anything I've ever tried ~ it had a variety of beautiful greens, corn nuts, topped with crisp lumpia wrappers and a Calamansi Sweet Chili Vinaigrette. Nice on a hot afternoon. The lumpia were flavorful and also super filling/crispy. Perfect with the dipping sauce. And also a nice snack on the drive with heavy traffic home :) There's a lot of other items on the menu including rice bowls, chicken wings, garlic noodles, Filipino Mac-Ghetti, grilled plates, and Dole Whip. Tried Lumpia Company for the first time and had a great experience. The location of their businesses is prime and picturesque as it's located overlooking the water. Plenty of space to go for a nice stroll and or sit down to enjoy your meal. The food was super good. Prices were affordable for the quality, taste, and amount you get. Service was great as well. My issue was the customer service. I ordered chicken lumpia and pineapple frozen dole whip. They called our number but only the lumpia was ready. We were told that the Dole Whip was still freezing. My bad, I guess I should've asked beforehand if the frozen whip was ready (it's 4:30pm btw). 20min later, I decide to ask for my money back. Tell me why he proceeds to let me know that the pineapple side isn't working. That it seems to be clogged up. But the strawberry and the strawberry pineapple swirl is working if I wanted that instead. So had I not walked up to the register requesting a refund, would I still be sitting there waiting? There were only 4 people in the whole restaurant. Yet no one came to tell us a thing. On another note. Brooklyn Basin has a great atmosphere. The lumpia Company has a jackpot location. Grew up with a Filipina auntie who made me a bit of a lumpia snob lol so while in town for the weekend I was glad I was able to stop by. First, I love this location and that they have a bar. There were lots of people inside and outside watching the game, kids playing the arcade games in the back... nice, communal set up. Now the customer service was interesting. Waited for quite a while before someone took our order. Several people behind the counter, but that greeting took a min. As a first timer, we kept making sure we were in the right spot to order because we were confused a bit by the wait. Eventually our order was taken. We tried the chicken and cheeseburger lumpia and Filipino BBQ chicken wings. Overall, the chicken lumpia was our favorite. The wings were good with the sauce provided. To us, they were a little on the sweet side without the sauce to balance it out. I'll be back to try the other lumpia. There are not a ton of Filipino restaurants in the East Bay, but the Lumpia Company gives me exactly what I need every time I'm there. Every bite brings up a lot of nostalgia & is packed with flavor. I often find myself here when the Warriors are playing, because they're usually playing it on their big screen out on the patio area or at their bar. Who wouldn't want to snack on Lumpia, Pork Belly Chips, and Macghetti while they're watching the game? Pro Tip: Use the pork belly chips to scoop up some Macghetti for the perfect bite!! The first time I tried the Pork Belly Chips was earlier this year. For about $10 you get a heaping pile of thinly sliced, lightly battered then deep fried pork belly. You have the option between Sinigang (tamarind seasoning) and Adobo (soy sauce and vinegar seasoning). The sinigang is my favorite! It also comes with a side of seasoned vinegar & sweet chili sauce for dipping. I always get the Macghetti too. You definitely have to order it Kuya size. This last time around, we got it 'hella hot' and it tastes like they mix in some Buldak Sauce. Such good combination!!! It definitely packs a punch though. Sometimes we like to mix it up and add a fried egg to it (totally forgot this time). The owner is usually helping out around in the dining area, bar, and kitchen. I've never been able to catch his name, but he is always so hospitable & very dedicated to his restaurant. We wanted to like this place and were excited to try it for the first time. The venue is cool but the restaurant itself was very unkept and dirty. The outdoor space needed to be hosed down and cleaned as well as the inside. Tables and floors were filthy. The kid working the counter was very unprofessional and had a bad attitude so it made for an unpleasant experience since he didn't want to answer our questions about what was popular to order. Stank attitudes are never fun to deal with at an establishment. The food was piss poor. The lumpia was mediocre at best. The wings were very oversized and didn't taste like fresh chicken. I love this location at the Port of Oakland. Even though there's a parking lot and street parking, it might be a little challenge. It's a big open space, inside and out with lots of seating. This is a prime spot right on the waterfront. It's too bad it was dead af on the recent Saturday night we were there though. All the tvs had games on and his music playlist was dope. I can see how it would be lit when there's a special event going on. They've got a great speaker system, and I'm pretty sure they're set up for karaoke too. IYKYK! First things first -- I love E-40 (co-founder of Lumpia Company)!!!!!!!!!!!! The food here is 10/10: We got the bacon cheeseburger lumpia, the porridge, and the Mac-Ghetti. The bacon cheeseburger lumpia felt like munchies food, and was the perfect amount of crispiness. I have never heard about bacon cheeseburger lumpia until my friend put me on, and I am so glad I tried this spot out. I also love a good Filipino porridge!! Their portion for this was very generous and had the perfect amount of spice for me. I really like the Mac-Ghetti too, it was sweet and cheesy, but not too sweet or cheesy. The price was also nice for me, who wanted to try more things on the menu but knew that I couldn't stomach all the food at once. The reason why I don't give Lumpia Company 5 stars, as much as they deserve it, is service. The first time I came here, there were only about 2 other parties, but it took over 30 minutes for my friend and I to get our food. The second time I came, they opened a few minutes late, and had stated they ran out of the bacon cheeseburger lumpia. I was going to leave but staff informed me that they actually did have some, and so it was nice but it did suck that they almost didn't have it. The parking is also a bit challenging, since the Lumpia Company is in a neighborhood with many apartment buildings. Both times I came, I was able to find street parking a few blocks away and walk. I live right across the street from this place and omg it never disappoints. The food is always fresh and the customer service is the best they are so nice and the atmosphere is awsome. One of the greatest, , tiny, fried bites of food you will ever have is lumpia. What is lumpia? Glad you asked. It is basically a Filipino spring roll or egg roll. I work in the medical field where many of my peers are from the Philippines. It is a common dish brought to potlucks and it's one of my go to pick ups when I need to bring something to a gathering. It's a great finger food and a crowd favorite. When visiting San Francisco, I knew there was a strong Filipino community out there. Little did I know that I would see a whole concession stand at Oracle Park featuring delicious lumpia. I try and skip the usual baseball game foods and seek out local foods. This was as local as it gets. They had lumpia and a few dessert items. That's it. Their stand alone restaurants have more items on the menu. I got an order of the chicken lumpia and a strawberry calamansi lemonade. The lumpia came out hot and fresh and was a generous serving. It came with a sweet and sour sauce that was really an afterthought for me. It was delicious on it's own. It was a tad bit greasier than I'm used to though. We tore those suckers up in no time. Calamansi anything was new to me, but it was explained to me as a lime like fruit from Southeast Asia. The lemonade concoction was very good. It was refreshing while watching summer baseball! There's an extensive menus of everything from lumpia (of course) to wings to crispy pig skin "chips" to poutine to da kine like butter mochi and dole whip. Service was a snap through their online portal, but of course you can just pull up and order as well. And the location cannot be beat on any day with waterfront breezes and views. Super nice peeps inside too. As to the food, we got adobo wings (hella spicy but delicious and so crispy I thought it was Jollibee!), their sinigang pork belly chips (big serving that was so bad for me but I still wanted another serving), and the classic pork & shrimp lumpia Shanghai (amazingly crisp and tasty with the sweet chili sauce). I can see how parking can be difficult, but I lucked out. I came here on a Saturday at 1 PM and was able to find street parking easily. There is also a small parking lot, but it looks like it can fill up pretty quickly. I wouldn't say it was packed when I arrived, but it does look like people tend to hang out in this area. It took a couple minutes for someone to come to the register to take my order and then I waited another 30 minutes for my food, but it felt like maybe 15 minutes since I was dancing to their good music and playing some of their arcade games. I ordered a Thai tea ($5), bacon cheeseburger lumpia with fries ($15), and the garlic Parmesan adobo wings with garlic rice ($15). The food wasn't really served hot. I would say a lot of the food was lukewarm. The only thing that was served fresh were the lumpias. I think the fries were my favorite. The bacon cheeseburger lumpia were a bit dry but tasted pretty good with their smack sauce. I felt like the wings and the rice lacked flavor and the Thai tea were simply okay. Located at the Brooklyn Basin, inside the Port of Oakland building, there's a small parking lot at Clinton and 9th, making it easy to visit this filipino eatery, and a beautiful setting outside along the water. The restaurant space was clean and modern when I came by this past weekend, with both indoor and outdoor seating available. The staff seemed busy (with a crowd of people dining in), but they weren't really hustling to help customers, they were simply busy running around in the kitchen preparing orders while ignoring customers at the register. I even observed the one customer in front of me, who had been standing there for some time, just leave after they kept him waiting for so long. They don't really seem eager to provide good service here. Luckily, the wait for my takeout order to be ready was about 10-12 minutes, which is more reasonable than the wait for placing the order. They were sold out of some of their lumpia flavors on a Saturday evening, which was a little disappointing, but fine. Ended up getting the pork & shrimp lumpia. It was crisp, hot, and freshly made, but slightly lacking in flavor, and clearly missing the authentic taste of this savory snack I grew up eating. Still edible though, and the garlic vinegar suka I ordered helped. The sweet chili sauce that comes in little to-go packets (Shing Kee Hong Kong brand) isn't very good IMO. read more
